Close all menu item appearing by itself?

hello,
something strange is happening in my project. in my file menu in ib underneath the standard close command the command "close all" is appearing by itself. i do have my own project specific menu items in this file menu but i have not previously had this problem. i'm assuming something is triggering this but i can't figure it out. all of the keyboard shortcuts/connections appear to be fine. again i have not inserted this close all, it's appearing on it's own. any thoughts on how to make it go away?
thank you,
rick

hi again,
sorry for not being more clear. it's a mac app. and yes the issue is in interface builder. in my file submenu in interface builder all i have is the standard close menu item (connected to performClose) along with some of my own app specific menu items. but now all of a sudden below the close menu item appears a close all menu item which i have not inserted. it actually doesn't show in interface builder unless i run simulate interface. it also shows if i build and run the app. but when actually editing the menu in ib it doesn't show (which makes sense because i didn't put it there). at some point something must have happened to cause it to appear, but i can't figure out what? what i'm looking for now is a way to make it go away...
thanks again for your help,
rick

  • How to make "show all menu items" permanent?

Does anyone know a preference setting in CS4 to make "show all menu items" enabled all the time?  I use certain menu items regularly which require the extra step of chosing "show all menu items" before they will appear in the menu.  I would love to change this irriating setting.  I have searched preferences over and over and I know there must be one that addresses it, but I cannot spot it.

The essentials workspace should show all the menu items:
    Window>Workspace>Essentials.
If you want a different layout or to add panels to the workspace, rearrange/add
to the workspace (panels) and then save a new workspace under a different name.
    Window>Workspace>Save Workspace.

  • Premiere Elements 8 new install - all menu items grayed out

New install of premiere elements 8. Installed 8.0.1 patch successfully. Installed Quicktime.
    SYSTEM
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Dell Inspiron 660
    8 GB RAM
1 TB hard drive, 700 GB available after install
All menu items are greyed out except for File | New, Open, Exit and some Help menu items. Will create a project but then does nothing. Reopening the empty project results in Elements/Pro compatibility message. Unusable.

Thank you ATR. I followed your sequence of checks. RESOLVED BY DISABLING PORTION OF AV FUNCTIONS BEFORE LAUNCHING APPLICATION.  Here are the steps.
I had not even tried Premiere Elements Organizer. When I did, it appeared to run fine and actually the AutoAnalyzer Options only appear under its Preferences menu, I later found out. Those options were then disabled with no change to the issue.
I removed and reinstalled the program with an internet connection and McAfee firewall and AV off. And then ran the program with an internet connection.  No change.
I deleted the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file first, and then the whole 8.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. No change.
The program was installed in the default c: drive location so no change there.
The problem went away with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled!. I narrowed it down to what McAfee calls "Real-Time Scanning" under "Virus and Spyware Protection." The level of control McAfee LiveSafe-Internet Security affords under "Real-Time Scanning" is not very detailed. The setting that makes the difference is under "Scan These Files" is "Programs and documents only" instead of the default "All files (Recommended)."
Now going back upstream, I enabled the firewall fully. Firewall makes no difference if I shut it off globally or allow individual program exceptions...it still runs fine. I also enabled all the AutoAnalyzer Options and program still runs fine. Perhaps this is a rabbit trail for non-resource-limited systems.
Hopefully this helps others with the same problem.

  • Show All Menu Items  -designed by idiots for idiots?

    [rant]
Which idiot or idiots thought of that in CS4?
Same annoyance in my old XP office but at least you could set it to always show full menus. I had to move to CS4 after CS3 didn't like Win7 (no problem with that as it's beta) but I was shocked to find my opened images now seem to go left to right rather than right to left. Not sure of the technical description but the close 'x' has moved. And WTF is a 'floating document window' and why has it completely changed my user experience with Photoshop? It's horrible and totally different to CS3.
"Show All Menu Items" is the worst thing of all. It's not done by the same numpties who did this forum is it? I notice tight/click paste doesn't work here either. I have to CTRL/V. And where's 'preview message'?
I think the designers have run out of ideas and have to find something to do or are they all the people Microsoft dumped after the Vista Wow?
Other than those complaints I still love Photoshop but -please- get rid of the "Show All Menu Items". Just show me the bloody options that have always been there.
    [/rant]

Big thank you to Zeno Bokor -that solved it in 1 second
I think I've had PS for almost 7 years and it's a wonderful program. I don't mind technical changes or improvements but they really need to test things a bit more. Messing about with something as simple as a menu (which is after all just a menu) is the height of stupidity. They should learn from Windows 7. A fantastic OS compared to the horrible Vista. Why did they get it right this time? They listened to their customers. Windows 7 opens CS4 (and CS3 -it does work just a bit of hassle) like a Notepad file. It's very quick, has never crashed and works very very well. I have noticed some other changes (apart from the annoyances) but I'm not a particulaly heavy user and everything else I went for in the GUI was there 9or was easily found).
Adobe need to concentrate on getting the program to work and work well and stop messing around with the interface. And why is there no real working official fix for CS3 and CS4 with Windows7? W7 is not a beta like some strange little fan ap for Linux -it is your next paymaster. Yes, technically, it may be in beta but I've been using it for months (it's still free to use and download until March 2010) and it's a very very popular application. Many people who use W7 also use Photoshop. Instead of Adobe's development team thinking of ways to annoy paying customers maybe they should fix CS3/4 so it works fully in W7? You think that would be a good idea?
Anyway, I'm glad Show All Menu Items™ is fixed but I still have multiple images being opened/loaded to the left instead of the right. So when I go to close or edit I keep going to the wrong side (maybe I installed the Arabic version? ). This sort of thing is not easy to Google or search for a fix because I and I assume 1000s of others have no idea why it would have changed in the first place.
Photoshop is a great application but cut the crap ideas and fancy menus. And, get your finger out and fix CS3/4 fully for W7.
    Thanks again

  • All menu items greyed out when I open a multitrack project

I have been searching for an existing answer to this question, but I am unable to find one. I'd appreciate any help I can get.
When I go to send some clips (one at a time) into Soundtrack Pro, I am unable to send them into a "Pro Audio File Project" (it is greyed out). So, I then send the clip to a "Multitrack Project." Everything appears to be okay, but when I go to take an action, all menu items are greyed out.
    What am I doing wrong?

Hello, did you ever get an answer to this?

  • Show All Menu Items - On all the time - PSCS4

I must be missing something because I'm sure Adobe would make a way to keep this feature on all the time. But I've been through the preferences and can't find it. Maybe someone can help me.
How can I make Photoshop CS4 Show All Menu Items - All the time?
It slows me down and frustrates me having to keep clicking on this each time I need the full menu, which is pretty much all the time.

    > Workspaces contain more than just the menus to display. If you just want to control just the menu items, go to Window> Workspace> Keyboard Shortcuts and Menus... Here you can choose 'Photoshop Defaults' from the Set: pull down on the Menus tab.
    > 'Essentials' is used Suite wide and may make more sense in some of the other products. Unfortunately, Ps was burdened with 'Essentials' and 'Basic' (effectively antonyms) in the process.
    Thank you Steve.

  • Indesign CC - All menu items greyed out on new install

    Hello!
I just installed Indesign CC on a new Mac laptop (I can provide specs if needed), and when I open ID *all* menu items are greyed out. I can't create a new file, open legacy files, or even quit the app (force quit only). I have not installed any plugins. Other CC programs work fine.
    Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your response, Peter.
Replacing the preferences and savedData did not innitially work, but it did lead to a solution. I realized that I ported over my old mac to this new one from a backup, and there old versions of preferences from ID (even tho I had uninstalled the program). I cleaned out my preference and cache folders of old and new ID support files. ID then opened with no problem. Hopefully this will help anyone else who has this issue.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Muse 2014 -sub menu items appearing on roll-over etc.

Hi, complete newbie, so sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere. Only started using Muse about 1 month ago and now using Muse 2014 - using horizontal menu widget and discovered how it now shows sub-menus when hovering over the main menu item- I find this great!
I want a 'Contact Me' page with a basic form and this is not a problem, however, I want the sub-menus to appear when hovering over the other main menu items, but not the contact me page - might be completely off here, but created a 'Thank you' page as a child page of the contact me page and only want this displayed (not as a sub-menu choice when hovering over the contact me main menu item) when they have clicked the submit button on the form (I know how to set this re-direction in the forms options). Have tried playing with menu on the master page - switching off the edit together and changing settings on only the contact me menu item - without success- seems to apply to all main menu items.
I would like to know how to achieve sub-menus on other menu items - but not on contact me item;  or whether I am going about trying to have a 'Thank you' response when someone submits the contact me form in the completely wrong way - can this be better achieved by other means?
I would really appreciate your advice and help. My published site is 'onyerbikegeordie.uk' with the main menus - except not with a contact me page as yet, but would  give you an idea of what I am trying to achieve except for a contact me page.
Sorry for the long post, but thanks for reading and in anticipation of your help!

Hi, managed to find the answer to this myself. In Plan, right-click on page and select Menu Options > Exclude Page from Menus. Job Done!

  • Menu item appears multiple items

I've created a menu item for the extension I'm working on; however, it is showing up 4 times in the Tools menu instead of just once. I've looked at various tutorials on the subject, but I can't seem to find what I've done incorrectly.

  • Why are all menu items grayed out?

I just opened iWeb 6 for the first time and all my menu items are grayed out except for a few things like Page Setup. Why is this happening? I looked in the Help and Getting Started but couldn't find anything that seemed to fit. I don't have an .mac account as I have web space on campus to use. Does that matter?
    Thanks.
