Close Bridge to install, it's closed

I'm trying to install CS5 on Vista 64 and I keep getting a message to close Adobe Bridge to continue. It is closed and I have started and closed bridge, rebooted the computer and still get the same error message. Not liking CS5 already.

If it's telling you that it's still open then it's probably minimized to the notifications area (the one next to the clock). Right Click on it's icon there, deselect Start Bridge at Login (or do it from Edit->Preferences->Advanced) if you don't want it to start with windows (it shouldn't be on by default) and then close it. You can also force it closed by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc to bring up the Task Manager, switch to the Processes tab and close Bridge.exe

then it lists "adobe Bridge CS5 (Bridge.exe)" but I do not have Bridge open. So I hit the "continue" botton and it repeats this message.

Click on iTunes and do comand Q. Be sure you are quitting iTunes to finish update and not just closing the screen.

How to close Bridge in order to install PS CS6

When I try to install Adobe Photoshop CS6 on my new computer, I get the message to first close Bridge. How does one do this?

Bridge is running in the background as you have it set up to load on startup (advanced options). If on Win OS open Task Manager and in Processes tab look for bridge.exe and close.

There is a big difference between closed and Quit. Closed means mostly no visible window, yet the application itself runs at the background.
If you are on a Mac check the open applications (cmd + Tab lets you cycle through the open applications) or open the activity monitor (in the Disk utility folder in Applications)
If you are on Windows maybe Curt and Yammer P will have better advise for you

It worked fine since a new Mac in Feb. ,but it will not update now so no Flash Player ay all. Thanks for any help.

Trying to download PS CC on second computer (dell laptop-windows 7) but get error that I should close Bridge.exe ........................this file is not open..........I have both cs4 and cs5.1 on this laptop..............as well as the associated bridge files...........should I uninstall all of the OLD PS stuff, before attempting to install the PS CC..........................keep in mind I want to also download LR 5, after PS CC is installed correctly.

Terminate the process in task manager or turn off Minibridge in the PS prefs and restart your system.

Updateing firefox asks to close firefox when it is already closed

my automatic updater does not work and i was advised to manualy update it.But when i tried, it kept telling me to close fire fox which was already closed. I dont know why but every time you guys have an update my pc goes all wonky and i have a hell of a time to reconfigure it. I am running windows seven and Notons antivirus.

If you're just closing the browser window, you're not actually quitting the application. You need to quit the application for Flash Player to install. There are a few different ways to Quit Safari:
Quit app from the Dock icon:
Mouse over the Safari icon in the Dock
Press CTRL and left-mouse click at the same time
A menu will display. Click Quit to terminate the application.
Use Activity Monitor to terminate Safari:
Launch Activity Monitor from Appilcations/Utilities/Activity Monitor
Ensure 'All Processes' are being listed (menu in the upper right)
Find and select Safari
Click 'Quit Process' button on the upper left.

Help with close bridge error, I can't find where bridge is still open.

I'm trying to install In Design. I'm getting an message to close Bridge.
So I exited Bridge, didn't help.
I went to task manager>processes and endedbridge.exe, didn't help.
I opened Bridge, turned off the option of starting at log in, logged out, logged back in again and started the install again. Still didn't help.
I've looked through task manager processes and I can't see any that would be related to bridge but I'm still getting the error.
I've looked through the "working with your operating system" link, and can't find anything there that is open.
I'm running Windows 7.

Ah ha! I think I worked it out. I ticked "show processes from all users" and another account had bridge.exe running. Ended that and it seems to be working, yay!

"Please close Safari first" when Safari IS closed

I am running Mac OS 10.7.5, Safari 6.0.2, and trying to install the latest version of Flash 11 (as of Feb 8.) Half-way through the installation I get the warning to "Please close Safari to continue." I close Safari, try installing again, and get the same message to close Safari before continuing...but Safari IS closed.
I even try restarting the computer and installing Flash immediately...without so much as touching Safari. The installer still asks me to close it first. I open up the Force Quit window and only "Install Adobe Flash Player" is open.
Please help!

If it won't download directly, right click and "Save as"
Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
Trash the Flash Player.plugin file from there
Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Flash Player folder (the whole folder)
Empty the trash
Reboot
Mount the DMG and run the installer.
BEFORE opening any Flash content in Safari, open Safari>Preferences, and check the Security tab to make sure "Allow all other plugins" is checked.
