Close, minimize, resize buttons in top left dissapeared

Any help MUCH appreciated!!... I cannot seem to figure out how i've lost my close, minimize and resize buttons in top left. IT's only in Illustrator. I have a MacBook Pro..
Any thoughts???
Thanks,
Elena

Chances are the buttons are merely behind the Control Panel or your'e simply in Full Screen Mode.
If your document is behind the Control panel, tap the Tab key to hide all panel, then move the document down so it's not behind the control panel.
If you are in Full Screen Mode, tap the F key on the keyboard until you see the buttons again.

  • Close, Minimize, Maximize buttons won't work

So lately the close, minimize and maximize buttons in Safari, Chrome and Firefox won't work. Also, I can't move/drag the window easily, I have to click like 10 times and try over and over again so I can drag it. If I have two windows open (not tabs) I cant close unless i go cmd+W. Do you know what must be wrong? Those buttons work fine in some apps, but finder has that problem too.. I try to force close them and they won't eve appear on task manager, which is weird, they used to. Oh and my launchpad button (in the dock and in the keyboard) also doesn't work.

I found out that it wasn't just Safari, I had the same problem with FireFox. On the forum I found the (I think) solution:

  • Where can I find info on three  buttons at top left

I remember some functions of those three buttons from my eMac, but there seem to be other (or different) functions on my iMac. I haven't been able to find anything about them. Maybe because I don't know their correct nomenclature. I would appreciate guidance.
    Jim

Note also, unlike Windows, most Mac applications do not quit when you click on the close the window button on the last open window. Pay careful attention to the menubar next to the Apple menu for which application is currently open and frontmost. That menu will indicate that is the frontmost application, and it has its own menu of commands.

  • How do i change the color of "Firefox" button on top-left? It just doesn't match with my favorite firefox personas.

It is some kind of dark yellow and is very bright as it seems with some personas. Changing color should not be that big of a deal and i don't wanna download any themes.

It is not straight forward but can be done. You can do this by adding code/scripts to a file called [http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css userChrome.css] to change the appearance of the button. The Stylish add-on makes it easier to make the changes, the latest version of Stylish is available from http://forum.userstyles.org/discussion/24534/stylish-for-firefox-1.1b4
For some samples of scripts you can add to Stylish to change the appearance of the button see http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/921416-share-your-custom-firefoxminefield-4-stylish-scripts/
There are also many scripts available at http://userstyles.org/
Note that some scripts will no longer work as they would have been written for earlier beta versions of Firefox.

  • After downloading the5.0 exe file, i don't get the page(browser) as shown in it's ad. I mean: that red firefox multitab tab button on top left, & other things (shown with tabs & explained in ad feature). I get the old page(browser) i have.

I clicked the blue link: "Upgrade Firefox to the latest version", below the firefox box. In the next page, i clicked a blue link: "Take a tour". In the 3rd page it shows how thenew browser will look like, with the new features.. explainedby tabs and all. I then clicked the download button.
Next, i don't get that new-view browser. How is it? i get the old one i have already.
I also downloaded Gujarati language tool-something.
I then tried 4 times: total 5 times same download from red download buttons on different pages....
Yet no result. I get the same old browser, with no new features.
Also, I rebooted my pc. But to no effect.
    Help pl
    Thanx

It looks that the update wasn't successful because your "More system details" list still shows a Firefox 3.6.18 version.
If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Customizing Close / Minimize / Maximize buttons

Is there an easy way to customize the red, yellow and green window buttons? I've found other OS images in the System/Library/CoreServices that you can change, thereby "customizing" the look of the OS. It would be nice if I could change these to hues of Blue.
I do see these images in the SecurityAgentPlugins/loginwindow.bundle. You can change the apple logo and other icons in the login window. But I don't see these buttons on the login window, so don't know why there are there. Haven't tried updating them yet.
I know it's dangerous to go around in the System folder. I'm an old Mac vet.... have clones... and don't mess around with anything I don't understand. I just like altering the images as it makes the OS more suited to my likes.

  • I do not see the firefox button at top left of page to acess private browsing

I am computer illeterate. I have pc I just upgraded to 4.0. I did the tutorial and it says to press the "firefox" button, I do not have one on this page. what is wrong?

You do not have the Firefox button if you are using Windows XP. Yours will show the Menu bar instead. The Firefox button will only show if you are using Windows 7 or Vista:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Menu%20bar%20is%20missing
So do you have the Menu bar showing? If you do, go to: Tools > Options > Privacy and CHECK the Private Browsing

  • Close and minimize/maximize buttons disappeared

The close, minimize, maximize buttons in the top right corner don't show. They are there, but well...not. If I press in the top right corner, it acts as if I pressed the close button...asking if I'm sure and such. This happens all the time when I have multiple tabs open and try to click on or close the furthest right tab. The only way I can close tabs in this situation is by right clicking on it.
I've seen previous questions on this and tried all the suggested solutions: removing the persona to revert to default appearance, resetting firefox, hitting f11 to switch to fullscreen and back, uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, changing toolbar settings as to what shows and what doesn't...nothing has worked and this problem is getting quite irritating.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Try to disable transparency in Windows.
Right click in a free space on your desktop.<br />
    Left click on Personalization.<br />
There are four options at the bottom of the screen, choose "Window Color and Appearance".<br />
    Select a border color<br />
    Uncheck: "Enable transparency"<br />

  • Magic Mouse wont close program or window when I left click.

    Hi,
so I bought me a new set up iMac i7 with among others the magic mouse 3 months ago.
Not everytime but quite frequently when I try to close a program or any kind of window, by left click the red button on top left corner, it wont work, nothing happens.
Then I have to click somewhere outside that area and then go back to the red close button and it works.
This is also present sometimes when I want to close a tab in safari by the tab cross-button.
Anyone who has an idea of what the problem might be?
At a first glance I thought it was a software bug, since it work when I click outside the red close button and then go back and it works.
When it stops working it doesnt matter how many times I try, it just wont do until I click once outside the area.
I also have a track pad but it works flawless!
Thanks in advance for any hint into right direction!
    regards - Peter

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />

  • I do not appear to have the "main" Firefox tab in the top left corner to enable me to clear history. I have reinstalled FF but it is still not there.

In the Firefox help video they show a Firefox icon in the very top left of the window. This is a drop down tab where one of the items is the clear history option. I do not have this tab and have tried reinstalling Firefox but it is still not there. On the video it is shown above the File / Edit / View etc options.

If you don't have the Firefox button, you're using the classic view. To restore the new view of Firefox (Changed in Version 4):
    * View > Toolbars > Menubar [Uncheck]
In Firefox 6 you can use this to clear your history/other offline content:
Click on the Firefox button on top left part of your browser:
    * History > Clear Recent History
There you can select what you want to clear.
If you want to see the menu bar you can press alt on your keyboard so you can see file/view/...
Also for activating it to always be there follow this (Classic view of Firefox):
    * Firefox > Options > Menu Bar
Don't forget to hit the 'Solved it' button if this solved your problem so the topic will be closed.

  • HT2474 the 3 buttons on the left top corner went missing i.e delete(X), minimize(-), maximize(+)

my computer macbook air version 10.7.5 recently have the 3 top left corner went missing as if the whole horizontal bar were lost and I cant close the file on safari. also  the remaining top remaining bar where the apple logo needs to be pull down every time i need to clear history.

  • CS6/Mac Air - Cannot find windows that I reduced using top left buttons.

When I click the middle yellow button(with minus bar inside) top left corner of an open window/canvas it reduces the file and you see it close and swoop doen into the Photoshop icon on the bottom toolbar. How do I find those windows to reopen/expand back to my Photoshop window? Can't find them anywhere. I know they are still active as I did not click the red close button, only the reduce size button.

    Thank you, John.
I had completely forgotten about the Dock option to minimize windows into the icon of their own applications.
I now remember seeing that option when it appeared for the first time and thinking "why would I want to do a thing like that?"
(I'll probably forget about this again, eventually.  …unless I start using it right away.)
