Close Netlet automatically on log out

Simple tip that was passed on to me by my iPlanet SE on how to close the
little Netlet Launch window automatically when logging out of iPS...
modify menubar.html - found in
/etc/opt/SUNWips/desktop/your_template_dir/iwtDesktop
Change the "action=logout" to also perform a Netlet window close like this:
<A HREF="/DesktopServlet?action=logout
onCLick="window.open('','Netlet').close()">
Please note that the first parameter in window.open is TWO single quotes
(which represents a null URL). This may incorrectly look just like a
double-quote with some fonts.
This bit of code could be improved to first check to make sure the Netlet
window is open before closing it. As it is now, if the Netlet is already
closed, it will flash up a new empty Netlet window and immediately close it,
but this happens so fast, it is barely noticed.
Also, this only works if the user logs out, and not if they close the iPS
window by other means.
I think it would be great to close all orphaned windows created in an iPS
session, such as those created by Netlet rules for telnet, Citrix, etc.
But that's for another day to look at...

You need a logout hook. See http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031005165919533

  • Whenever I try to log-in, I, without no specific reason ,automatically been logged-out.

    To whom it concerned.
Good morning, I'm Bohyeon Kim from South Korea. I've been really appreciating your company's CC service which is like super excellent.
But, for a couple of days lately, i've been having this problem like shown above. Whenever I try to log-in, I, without no specific reason ,automatically been logged-out. Strangely, I have no problems at all using CC products (like Illustrator) though. Plus, I've paid every single fee for monthly plan perfectly well.
I hope this problem will be fixed as soon as possible, since I have to use CC like everyday for my business.

  • Firefox does not quit automatically after logging out of my computer

    Hey, everyone.
Just curious if anyone has experienced a similar problem as me.
I am working on a G5, running Mac OS X (10.4.8) using the newest verson of Firefox 1.5.07.
Intermittently, I cannot log out of my computer without first closing Firefox.
Shouldn't the computer automatically quit out all programs and complete the log out without giving me an error message saying Firefox is still running?
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate the input.
    Thanks,
    boneyo

Do you have multiple tabs open at the time, with the option to "confirm multiple tab close on exit"?
Because that would halt something trying to quit Firefox - Firefox itself won't quit without that input, and logging out won't Force Quit.
If this sounds like the problem, try not confirming multiple tab closure on exit, and then logging out and see?

  • After sleeping for ~30m MBPr closes all programs and logs out

    MBPr 15" Oct 2013 version, OS X 10.9.4
I have the bottom left hot corner set up to sleep my mac.  Every time I do this and leave it for around 30m, it closes all my open programs and logs me out, and I can't figure out why.
In Energy Saver I've enabled "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off", and disabled "Put hard disks to sleep when possible".
Are there any other settings somewhere that affect this?

    Hello Byron Gibson,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please check your Security & Privacy Advanced settings to see if you have the option to log out after a certain time of inactivity.

  • Automatic proxy log out on iPad.

I am currently using my campus wifi to connect to the net. My deafult browser is chrome. It automatically logs me out after around 5 mins even if chrome is busy or idle. I even tried using safari but it had the same issues. Please help!!

No, it means what it says. Session has expired. Contact your system administrators. It would need to be fixed on their end, I would think.

  • Trying to login and automatically get logged out in AD?

Basically what happens is an AD user *using admit mac* tries to login, it start to spin like it's going to let her in but then goes to a blue screen *non death* and then goes straight back to the login screen from that said blue screen. All other AD accounts can login just fine.
This is the log I'm getting from a good login, starting from 2:56:33-2:56:53, and then the problem login where i get booted before i even get to my home screen starting at 2:58:20, and then a following good login to collect the log. I put spaces in where i think each login starts and begins. I have also removed my companies domain and replaced it with ***** in several places.

  • Ending session when user closes window w/o logging out

    Hi,
I tried looking everywhere for a solution to this problem and was unable to do so. I'm running tomcat 4.0.5 on win2k and am trying to prevent multiple user logging capability, but the listeners that I implemented for the session can only detect the creation of the session, and the destruction after the pre-set session invalidation time. So if the user closes the window 15 minutes into the session, the server still has the flag for "logged in" in place and the user cannot log in for the remainded of the session time (which is another 15 minutes).
Can anyone please help me with this problem?
    Thank you very much,
    Lior

How can I do that? Do you have any code I could take a look at. Thanks a lot.

Question: whenever I press the eject key on the keyboard the computer logs out (os x 10.5.5, mac pro). This happens on any type of keyboard. It does eject the drive but then all windows close and the account logs out to the login window.

The Menu Extras Eject menu button works as expected, the drive media is ejected. As do the eject buttons next the drive in the Finder > Devices list.
"drutil eject" in Terminal also works corrrectly.
The following is the log from /var/log/system.log.
I opened a new terminal shell (the first line you see in the log), then immediately pressed the Eject button.

  • Can I get the applications to close when the profile automatically logs out due to parental control time limits?

When time limit runs out on profiles set up for kids, all programs they are running remain open in the background even though their profile logs out.  It causes other profiles to operate slowly.  I have to log back into their profiles and manually close everything.  Is there an option to have those programs force quit when their time runs out?

Hi - it still did not contain a precise response to my problem. But then I wandered around some more in the Tools option and found "always show the tab bar". I unchecked that, and it seems that for now all the tabs are gone. Shall have to see if they return on restarting or rebooting. If so, will post back. Thanks.

  • When I open tabs, I am automatically logged out of all tabs.

    ==
Firefox is having problems with certain web sites
    == Description
    ==
On a certain website, I like to work in tabs. I mainly am on the forums, and will have multiple threads up on tabs. However lately, every time I open a tab I get logged out.
If I stay and work in ONE tab I am fine, but if I open a second tab I am automatically logged out.
I have cleared cache, cookies, and all browsing history.
I have gone in and deleted/renamed the cookies.sqlite file, restarted Firefox, and that still doesn't help.
I upgraded to the newest version of Firefox, and still doesn't work right.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Safari Automatic Log out??

We have our iMac set to log out automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity, but lately it has been shutting down everything we have open including Safari and iPhoto which can be very annoying when you're working on a project or keeping tabs on an auction, etc. Question is, how can we get the computer to "time out" and require a password to log back in but still keep our programs open? Essentially, like "locking" a Windows computer... or is there a separate option to close programs automatically also that we might have accidentally activated?
    Thanks!

I do not know much about "locking" a PC, hvdel, but if you are still using Snow Leopard, in System Preferences, in the Security pane, under the General tab, there is a setting to automatically log out after X minutes of inactivity. Near the top of that pane, there is a check box that allows you to require a password after sleep or the screen saver begins.
If you log out, any open programs must close.  However, you can put the computer to sleep and that will not quit any programs.
So what you can do is uncheck the automatic log out option and instead use the Energy Saver options in System Preferences to put the computer to sleep after 10 minutes.  Then you can go to the General tab in the Security settings pane and check the box requiring a password immediately after sleep or screen saver begins.
Then the computer will go to sleep, but no one can wake it up without a password.  So, in effect, you are locking the computer without logging out.

I am having a very difficult time with accessing my music from the cloud.  I need to have itunes open on my laptop in order for it to work.  And as soon as I close out itunes on my laptop, it gives me a warning that all users will be logged out.  Help!!!

    Where are iTunes files located?
No, I do not mean just the music.  Copying just the media/music files or the media folder creates problems.

  • Why does iTunes automatically sign me in to my acct. after I have logged out?

This is very annyoing. I logged out for a reason - hello.
It's bad enough that iTunes contiunally badgers you to sign in whenever you access your music library. But even worse, despite declining the multiple prompts to sign in, the system does so anyway... behind your back!
And before I get the standard repsoneses, No I don't use iTunes Match, No I don't have Automatic Downloads enabled, in fact, I didn't even have wi-fi enabled at the time (it used my cellular data - which, BTW, is turned off for Music!)
This becomes a big issue for me, because if I don't sign out of my iTunes acct. before synching my music, iTunes takes the liberty of renaming all my music to match their exact decsriptions in the store. Another rdiculous problem. So I've learned this work-around, the hard way, and now I have the magic login fairy to contend with.
I've said it before it in several other posts, if a person doesn't use iTunes Match, Automatic Downlods, or store their music in iCloud, then don't touch my music.
    Anyone else have this issue?

Yes. The screen is showing iPhone in Recovery Mode and needs to be Restored with current iTunes on computer.

  • I don't want to be logged into game center, but it automatically logs me in every time I log out. How do I stop that from happening?

I am trying to disable my game center, but every time I log out of game center, it automatically logs me back in. How do I prevent this from happening?

System Preferences - Mail, Contacts and Calendars - delete the Facebook account you see there, and/or add your own account.
