Close Open DVD Tray Via Software / Menu Item

My DVD tray eject key has gone bad I need menu item to Open Close DVD tray. Is there any such tool available?

Vijay,
Navigate to your Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras Folder and double click on the "Eject.menu" file.
⏏ will then appear on your menu bar.

  • Will not recognize jump drive nor allow me to open DVD tray

    Intermittantly, my G5 will not show my jump drive nor a CD on the desktop. At those times, it will not open the DVD tray either.
    When this happens, I can go to system profiler and see both the jump drive and the CD--it's just not showing up on the desktop so I can't open them. The only way I can get the tray to open and to recognize the CD and or Jump Drive is to reboot the computer.
    What is going on and why don't these show up on the desktop nor allow me to open the DVD tray.

  • MacPro 2009 with Mountain Lion cannot open DVD tray:help?

    Feel mighty stupid but cannot find a way to open DVD?CD tray on a 2009 MacPro.
    Can anyone help a btain dead oldtime Apple customer? I need help and feel as confused as I found Berlin without Checkpoint Charlie better but no geographical signs to help me navigate. Help only refers to slot drives but not to old MacPro hardware.
    I have not used an optical disk in a long, long time and a firend needs some design work and she only has files on a DVD.

    Are you using the Apple keyboard?
    If so, have you pressed the eject button?
    If using a PC keyboard, try pressing the F12 key.

  • Open UI - Google Chrome Issue - Menu Items jump

    Hello,
    We have upgraded to Open UI successfully. However we have observed an issue with google chrome only.  Menu items are jumping when menu items clicked in applet.
    Below are steps we followed for replication
    1. Navigate to Account summary view by drilling down on any account hyperlink in account list view
    2. Click the Menu button in the lowermost applet in the view
    3. The menu opens way on the top
    Please can you suggest a work-around/solution in this scenario?

  • Open KM folder via WebDav - Invalid Item ID

    Hi!
    In our KM SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0 we have some folders where a ! is in the name. There was no problem accessing these folders via WebDav since we installed SP 18. If I will access this folder now via WebDav, paste WebDav Url from flder into IE7 and open the link 'Navigation user interface' afterwards I will get an message like this: Invalid Item ID - the item you are attempting to access does not exists. Check wether the name of the associated repository is correct. In the Portal Log i found the following information: Syntax error in URI placeholder: <path to folder>
    Any idea?
    Thanks, Daniel

    Hi Nitsan,
    It depends from where you want to open the webdav folder.
    1. From explorer:
       Go to My network places, and add a new one with the URL you used before. Now it should open directly as a webdav folder. You can also map this to a network drive.
    2 From a website:
       Insert a link in the website using the following format:
    <a style="behavior: url(#default#AnchorClick)" title="Webmap" href="" folder="http://<hostname>:<port>/irj/go/km/docs/<km path>">Webfolder</a>
    This should open directly from the website as a webdav folder.

  • How to open 'share picture via' popup menu on android?

    Hi there.
    I made a little photo painting app on android where you can open (via the native file opener with filerefence.browse() it works beautifully) and save (directly to CameraRoll with addBitmapData also works perfectly) an image. Now i would like to share the saved image.
    I would like to use the native android 'share picture via' popup. I found on a forum the native code for it ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3553017/android-share-via-dialog ).
    Since we cannot execute native code for mobiles as i can read from the flash doc, is there a way to get this working at all?
    Thanks a lot for the help!

    I too would like to know if this is possible. I use it all the time with native apps to send files to my dropbox. If it was up to me, this would be a MUST HAVE feature.

  • Why can't I close my PowerPoint files and my menu items won't work?

    My MacBook Air has opened a number of Power Point files, and I can't close any of them.  When I do a Force Quit, it closes everything, but when I start Power Point again, it opens up all of the same files, and then I'm stuck again.  It won't let me close them or save them or anything.  I am basically stuck.

    Go to System Preferences > General and check "Close windows when quitting an app".

  • Applescript open message menu items greyed out

    I've struck a real dilemma. When opening a Mail message with any sort of scripting, many of the menu items remain greyed out, including the one  that's important to me, 'Save Attachments...'.
    If I manually open the same message, the menu items are enabled.
    Try this script, by resetting the mailbox name to one of your own mailboxes, and you'll see what I mean.

  • DVD tray not openning

    OS 10.5.2 will not open DVD tray with F12 key. It will if I mounted on my backup hard drive. How do I fix it?

    Norm,
    I haven't got a solution that restores eject the F12. I too have a PBG4 Aluminium and F12 does not open the tray (actually no tray it is a slot drive). Cannot say if it ever did eject. However just to the right of F12 is a an eject button and it works. Why not use that? There are if needed a number of other ways to eject. I prefer drutil commands in Terminal when I have problems.

  • DVD Tray

    Suddenly, I can't open or close my DVD tray using the keyboard. It will open with an application such as Toast and will close if I drag he disk icon to the trash. I have rebuilt the directory with Disk Warior, started with extensions off, started with Mac OS 9 all, rebuilt the desk top, replaced the DVD driver, and trashed the preferences file. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas other than reinstalling the syten software?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi, Alysa -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
    Make sure the extension HID Library is enabled (checkmarked) in Extensions Manager control panel.
    As an additional means of opening/closing the tray, download Eject Extras - it contains a mini-app which can be assigned to an fkey in the Keyboard control panel, and a module for the Control Strip.
    You can also use a utility app like EjectDisk to designate separate keyboard commands for each removable-media drive.

  • Check menue item does not work

    Hello,
    I create a menu item MI_DEBUG of type Check in a submenu named EXTRAS_MENU.
    In the menu item code I want to enable debug logging of the current user actions.
    In the Menu Startup Code I set the status UNCHECKED.
    When the user clicks the menu item I want the status to be changed to CHECKED and back on a second click
    Menu Startup Code
    DECLARE
        mi_id   MENUITEM;
    BEGIN
        mi_id   := find_menu_item('EXTRAS_MENU.MI_DEBUG');
        IF id_null(mi_id) THEN
            my_debug.pl('EXTRAS_MENU.MI_DEBUG not found','zvc_menu.mmb Menu Startup Code');
        ELSE
            set_menu_item_property(mi_id,CHECKED,PROPERTY_FALSE);
        END IF;
    END;Menu Item Code
    DECLARE
        mi_id   MENUITEM;
    BEGIN
        mi_id   := find_menu_item('EXTRAS_MENU.MI_DEBUG');
        IF id_null(mi_id) THEN
            my_debug.pl('EXTRAS_MENU.MI_DEBUG not found','zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
        ELSE
            my_debug.pl('EXTRAS_MENU.MI_DEBUG found','zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
            my_debug.pl('Status '||get_menu_item_property(mi_id,CHECKED),'zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
            IF get_menu_item_property(mi_id,CHECKED) = 'TRUE' THEN
                my_debug.pl('property(CHECKED) = TRUE','zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
                set_menu_item_property(mi_id,CHECKED,PROPERTY_FALSE);
            ELSE
                my_debug.pl('property(CHECKED) = FALSE','zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
                set_menu_item_property(mi_id,CHECKED,PROPERTY_TRUE);
            END IF;
        END IF;
    END;But I never get the checked sign in the menu and every time my debug messages say, that the property CHECKED = 'TRUE'.
    I even have tried it with PROPERTY_ON/OFF as some examples suggest, but it doesn't work.
    Any ideas what is wrong with my code?
    Forms [32 Bit] Version 11.1.1.4.0 (Production)
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    Regards
    Marcus

    Hm. In that case the only thing that comes to my mind is to apply the latest patchset for forms 11gR1 which is 11.1.1.6 if memory serves.Not possible, applying patches requires tons of tests for many applications.
    Does it work in a previous version of forms?This is a new menu item and I have not other version available to test.
    Another thing I found: When I open or close a form after clicking the menu item, then the check mark appears. Changing the label of an item works without opening a form.
    Therefore I changed my Menu Item Code to
    DECLARE
        mi_id   MENUITEM;
    BEGIN
        mi_id   := find_menu_item('EXTRAS_MENU.MI_DEBUG');
        IF id_null(mi_id) THEN
            my_debug.pl('EXTRAS_MENU.MI_DEBUG not found','zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
        ELSE
            my_debug.pl('EXTRAS_MENU.MI_DEBUG found','zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
            my_debug.pl('Status '||get_menu_item_property(mi_id,CHECKED),'zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
            IF get_menu_item_property(mi_id,CHECKED) = 'TRUE' THEN
                my_debug.pl('property(CHECKED) = TRUE','zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
                set_menu_item_property(mi_id,CHECKED,PROPERTY_FALSE);
                set_menu_item_property(mi_id,LABEL,'Debug on');
            ELSE
                my_debug.pl('property(CHECKED) = FALSE','zvc_menu.mmb mi_debug');
                set_menu_item_property(mi_id,CHECKED,PROPERTY_TRUE);
                set_menu_item_property(mi_id,LABEL,'Debug off');
            END IF;
        END IF;
    END;Now when I click the menu item the first time, the label changes immediately, but not the check mark. When I click the menu item a second time without opening a form the label does not change, this means, that the property CHECKED is only changed, when a form is opend/closed.
    Even better: The initial label id Debug, clicking the item should change it to+ Debug on+ and on subsequent clicks change between Debug on and Debug off
    1. Click -> Label changes to "Debug on", check mark unchanged
    2. open a form
    3. Check mark is shown but label is the default Debug
    4. close the form
    5. Check mark is not shown, label is back to Debug on
    6. Repeat step 2 - 5 with the same result
    Different sequences of clicking and opening/closing forms give seemingly random combinations of check mark on/off and label texts.
    Conclusion:
    A menu check item is a very obstinate thing. I will not use it if I can avoid it.

  • Stuck in a Rut trying to activate a Dialog from a menu item

    I am building an application using Netbeans. I am stuck on getting a dialog window to open when i select a menu item. I have tried numerous alternatives and still can not seem to get it to work. The menu item is "OpenProfileMenuItem" and the method is "OpenProfileMenuItemActionPerformed". The dialog is "ProfileForm". How do I make this work?

    I find the declaration, but no instance of OpenProfileMenuItem in your code (Java naming conventions request that variables start with lowercase characters). To this instance a listener must be attached, which when fired opens your dialog.

  • Firefox 4 hangs a little on every action - typing, moving the window, selecting a menu item, selecting a tab, ...

    Since installing Firefox 4 RC2, and now Firefox 4, Firefox constantly hangs on every action. Just in typing this message, the program pauses for a second or two every few words. Opening a tab, selecting a menu item or even moving the Firefox window incurs a brief pause of a second or two. This makes the users experience terribly slow. I've tried turning off sync and starting Firefox with extensions disabled. Nothing seems to help. I upgraded from RC2 but then deleted and reinstalled Firefox.
    I'm having this problem on my MacBook Pro, which is pretty new (less than a year old) and otherwise very fast (i.e., i7 processor and 8Gb RAM). I have the newest version of OS X (10.6.7) and have updated all extensions.
    I've watched my system monitor and Firefox is constantly and repeatedly going from low to near 100% CPU use every few seconds. I have no special, unusual settings (I've gone through preferences).
    This is getting so bad that I'm about ready to abandon FireFox. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    I had the same problem, I kept searching and found this:

  • Premiere Elements 8 new install - all menu items grayed out

    New install of premiere elements 8. Installed 8.0.1 patch successfully. Installed Quicktime.
    SYSTEM
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Dell Inspiron 660
    8 GB RAM
    1 TB hard drive, 700 GB available after install
    All menu items are greyed out except for File | New, Open, Exit and some Help menu items. Will create a project but then does nothing. Reopening the empty project results in Elements/Pro compatibility message. Unusable.

    Thank you ATR. I followed your sequence of checks. RESOLVED BY DISABLING PORTION OF AV FUNCTIONS BEFORE LAUNCHING APPLICATION.  Here are the steps.
    I had not even tried Premiere Elements Organizer. When I did, it appeared to run fine and actually the AutoAnalyzer Options only appear under its Preferences menu, I later found out. Those options were then disabled with no change to the issue.
    I removed and reinstalled the program with an internet connection and McAfee firewall and AV off. And then ran the program with an internet connection.  No change.
    I deleted the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file first, and then the whole 8.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. No change.
    The program was installed in the default c: drive location so no change there.
    The problem went away with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled!. I narrowed it down to what McAfee calls "Real-Time Scanning" under "Virus and Spyware Protection." The level of control McAfee LiveSafe-Internet Security affords under "Real-Time Scanning" is not very detailed. The setting that makes the difference is under "Scan These Files" is "Programs and documents only" instead of the default "All files (Recommended)."
    Now going back upstream, I enabled the firewall fully. Firewall makes no difference if I shut it off globally or allow individual program exceptions...it still runs fine. I also enabled all the AutoAnalyzer Options and program still runs fine. Perhaps this is a rabbit trail for non-resource-limited systems.
    Hopefully this helps others with the same problem.

  • Dvd tray opens rarely

    Sometimes it requires 40-50 tries for the eject button to open the dvd tray.
    Any advice please?
    True also when using software activators.
    Is there a mechanical way to make this open?
    Or some fix?
    Thanks

    Based on your description, it is more likely that you have a hardware issue. Booting from another system was just to rule out a software problem.
    I do not know of a +manual button+ and even if there was one, it would be disabled during normal operation because Mac OS X does not want you to eject a disc that is still mounted.
    If you press the mouse button and hold it down during initial startup, the drive tray is supposed to open. So if that works, I guess you could open and close the drive tray during startup, although that would be really inconvenient.
    Optical drives of the type that Power Macs use are not that expensive to replace yourself.
