Close parenthesis displaying as smiley faces makes code difficult to read and copy

My posting at http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=330&message.id=22047&jump=true has close parenthesis and they appear as smiley faces on my system. Is this a known issue or something with just my system?
example1("hello", "world")
example2("hello", "world" )
It appears to be when a " follows a ) character in the html.

  • In iCal and Notifications on a notebook, is it possible to expand the notes window to make it easier to read and write notes?

In iCal and Notifications on a notebook, is it possible to expand the notes window to make it easier to read and write notes? In the past, I have used Outlook calendar and tasks and I was able to expand the windows which allowed me to put a great amount of details into either the notes section in events and tasks. It would be great to be able to do this in iCal and Notifications as well. I am using a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.8. Thank you very much for assistance with this.

  • IOS 7 back ground makes it difficult to read the text.  How can I change it in mail and messages?

    HI,
iOS 7 back ground makes it difficult to read the text.  I know I can't change it in mail and messages, but Apple really needs to allow some customization.  This is really difficult to read for older eyes.

yeah I agree with all you guys statements, the color scheme on IOS 7 *****,
I am having to constantly turn on off on off on off  "invert color" mode just to switch between
the home screen, typing, and reading text messages, its an absolute pain!!
I never had any of this trouble in IOS 6.
What they SHOULD do, is make 2 different color schemes
    one LIGHT color scheme,
and one DARK color scheme, for those using "invert colors" frequently.
See, what Apple doesn't seem to understand is, when you turn on "invert colors",
the lock screen turns bright WHITE, so you have to turn invert colors OFF just to read the lock screen,
then back ON when you want to type an email, read a text message, etc etc, then turn it off again when
you want to play a game.
and see, after awhile, when you switch invert colors on off on off after so  many times, it drains on the devices resources, & you have to reboot the device to get accessibility options working again.   I have to reboot the device several times a day now just because of that, when its just a simple fix of adding a darker color scheme as a 2nd or alternative option.
I mean, even as a normal sighted person, turning on invert colors is annoying when your at the lock screen or playing a game, think about those of us who depend upon it just to read text on the screen..  VoiceOver has the smilar issues when you have to turn it off on off on all the time it drains the system resources of the phone also,
    so I agree completely...
but ya know, they don't listen to us...  cuz its an option they don't use, so they don't understand... If they used that option for even 5 seconds, they'd understand what we're talking about....  What Apple should do is hire one of us as a beta tester to help them test out these types of issues,  from one of us like myself who knows a thinkg or two about accessibility options of the phone.
I've been an Apple idevice fan for years, but, IOS 7 was a major disappointment in the accessibility arena..
    kind regards,
    Tom

  • All of my links on websites show up with a dark red background which makes it difficult to read. why?

Where ever a link shows on any website, the background of the link is red and the text is blue. It's difficult to make out the text. How can I change the background to white like it is on all other browsers.
    Dan

If the background of links is red then that is probably caused by an extension like SEO or SearchStatus that has the option set to highlight noFollow links.<br />
You can check the options of such an extension.
You can click the icon on the Status bar to open the SearchStatus options and un-tick "Highlight NoFollow Links"<br />
    See http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/
If that didn't work then you need to check for other extensions.<br />

  • TS1292 itunes card codes - hard to read and parts missing

I purchased a $30 itunes card for the special sale price of $24 from officeworks today and when I peeled the back sticker off some of the code when missing and other bits are very hard to read.
How can I solve this problem.  I have my receipt and card with me.

    Hello Dizee001,
If you're still unable to redeem your code after verifying the characters in the code, you'll need to contact iTunes Store Support for help. You'll need to provide a digital image of the front and back of the gift card as well as the sales receipt for the purchase of the gift card.
    Contacting iTunes Store Support
Go to the iTunes support page and select your iTunes country.
From the iTunes support page, choose Contact Support on the lower-left side of the page.
Follow the instructions to get iTunes Store support assistance.

  • Need easy fix to make my external HD read and write from PC to Mac user

Ok. So I got a MacBook pro. Changing from PC. I have 2500 songs on my iTunes file which is on an external hard drive. This is where I keep it. It was a sinch directing iTunes to where my music files and playlists were but needing to add more songs in the playlists from this hard drive that has all my other music is apparently impossible. Mac only reads this ext HD and can't write because it's NTSC. OK, I googled to try and find a fix. Macfuse nor NTSC3g worked. I don't want to buy another thing for this after spending $1200. Nor do I want to take the time to reformat 20,000 songs in an external HD from NTSC to FAT. is there a better way? I specifically asked the clerk in the apple store if this was going to be a problem. He said no of course. But apparently it is a problem. Anyone got any ideas before I take this laptop back?

Here are all the NTFS mounting, read and writing utilities available for the Mac.
    http://www.macupdate.com/find/mac/ntfs
Read the reviews, download the demos, try them out.
Can I ask how big your external HD is? Why not buy another external drive and copy your music files from the NTFS formatted PC drive to a Mac formatted drive.
You will need another external drive for backuping up your MacBook, anyway.
You do have a backup plan for your MacBook?

  • New interface makes pages difficult to read

The new interface puts horizontal scrollbars at the bottom of iframes, making lots of pages a pain in the ... to read.
Here's an example, you need to scroll right and left all the time to read the blog:
Create new UI's for existing workflow tasks with ABAP Web Dynpro and Universal Worklist!
It would be best if the blog iframe would have a fixed width that matches its visual width, so the content will be resized and the scrollbar disappears.

Thanks for pointing this out Pascal. We'll see what we can do to fix this problem.

  • When I mirror from my I pad/iPhone and use the top button to close my display on my devices it also closes airplay is there a way around this

When mirroring how do I close my display on my iPad/iPhone while using tv apps and not closing airplay

I don't know if it would even be possible to allow the iPad to mirror while it is asleep, but if you want to make Apple aware of anything with regard to the iPad, give it a try here.

  • Captions of photos in Yahoo cover the bottom part of pic. Makes it hard to read text and also can't see whole photo. Tried reset Firefox but that didn't work.

When going through photo galleries on Yahoo (in news, omg, etc.) the caption is displayed on top of the bottom 'fifth' of the photo. (The caption should be below the entire photo.) The way the pations are overlayed makes it difficult to read the text of the caption and worse, it makes it almost impossible to see the lower fifth of the photo. I tried resetting Firefox but that didn't change anything. I can't find any yahoo settings or OS X display setting that changed this. I'm using Firefox 25 on a macbook air running OS X 10. Are there any firefox settings that would improve this? Thanks.

You can also try to reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Command+0 on Mac)
If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
*Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
*Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

  • Make "Share Link" instantly create link and copy to the clipboard

This one you should lift from Dropbox. When right-clicking a file and selecting Share Link, don't send me out to creative.adobe.com. Just make me a public link and copy it to my clipboard, allowing me to paste it into a message, email, tweet, whatever. Going out to the site and verifying the creation of a public link feels bureaucratic.

Select text or image.  Go to Link field on the Properties panel.  If you don't see Properties, hit Ctrl+F3.

  • Ichat smiley faces in snow leopard

    hey all,
i searched but couldn't find a topic about this anywhere, so i thought it would be appropriate to make a new post.
sometime after i installed snow leopard i noticed that smiley faces now appear in the preview bar (like before you view a message, ichat gives the persons name and a little preview of the message) which is great, but then when i look at the message i dont see the actual image version of the emoticon, just the semi colon and parentheses or whatever they sent. hopefully i made this as clear as possible. do any of you know how i could fix this? obviously its not a huge issue but its a bit irritating.
    thanks everyone

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
I am not sure I have it totally.
Are you saying that when you get a Text Chat Invite - what you can see of the Message may include a Smiley that appears in Picture form but when you open that the Text only shows the text form of that Smiley ?
Do you have Show Smiley's Off in the iChat View Menu > Messages sub menu ?
I thinks this may be a quirk between the Invite settings view and the options not to Show Smileys in the Menu mentioned.

  • Yellow smiley face icon

Hey guys. I have a BB Curve 9300 and on the top of the screen, next to my notifiers, there's a yellow teardropped shape smiley icon and because the features of the icon is not as defined as the other notifier icons, I suspect it to be a virus. I don't have any unopened notifications and did not subscribe to Yahoo. I'm baffled. A little advice please. Thanks.

No, it's not a virus. BlackBerrys have never gotten and are not yet susceptible to any virus, you're not the first. I don't understand why users jump to that first off.
It's a third party application notification of some sort. Since I don't know what third party apps you have installed, I can't say which, but if you'll check each of your apps for a notification or message or alert, I'm sure you'll find it.
The Yahoo Messenger icon is not tear-drop shaped, but is a round yellow smiley face .

    Have you opened BlackBerry Messenger?

  • Smiley Face icon appearing

Hi there, there is a smiley face icon that appears at the top of the screen every night at around 7:30, and the only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone. I have been on the phone with bell technical solutions and they haven't given me any help. There is no message that goes with the icon, and there is no bbm messages or notifications. The smiley face itself is beige. The only advice bell gave me was to do a factory reset of my device, and i don't really want to do that. If that is the only solution, and I backup my contacts and everything to my computer, what happens to the apps that I have paid for?
    Kind of a loaded question,
    thanks

(You could just hit REPLY in the original thread where you started, rather than starting a NEW thread for an answer. I'll ask to have the two threads merged).
None of those sound like one that gives a smiley face icon.. .and I asked, is it beige, or yellow?
