Close to Typing
Searching the forums for "typing" I have determined that the
"typing effect" was notably absent from Captivate 2.0. Hopefully
enough people will vote for that effect to be included in a future
version.
Has anyone found an existing text animation that closes close
to typing?

FIRFOX CLOSES WHEN TYPING A QUERY
This has happened a number of times now and is teeth-grittingly frustrating. I am typing a query or reply in a web page (exactly as I am doing now) and Firefox completely closes down losing all my work and tabs. It is possible that it always in Ebay's reply system but I think it has happened in others as well.
It has led me to type all my queries/replies into Word and then cut and paste into the query window to avoid this problem but it's still annoying when it happens.
I suspect I am accidently hitting a particular key, or a combination of keys, somewhere down the bottom right of the keyboard - or at least that's the impression I have. It only seems to happen when typing a query.Thank you for taking the time to help. Much appreciated.
Hardware acceleration was already selected and I have deselected 'Check my spelling as I type' as you suggest even though I can't quite see how the spelling function would cause such an event.
Unfortunately it will be a bit hard to tell whether this has actually solved the problem as it only happens once in a while. Time will tell.
(Ironically, the 'fix' will probably cause me to use Word to compose messages anyway so as to use the spelling function.)' -

Typing Preferences in Flash Builder
I noticed that Flash Builder (including the Burrito preview) is missing they 'typing' preferences under the 'editor' preferences. FDT as well as many other plugins have this preference which allow you to turn on and off preferences for having quotes and paranthesis automatically close when typed with your cursor ending up between them (which is a huge time saver). Any chance this can be activated in the final Buritto release?

This one has been plauging me for a long time and it's rather annoying. In Preferences / Code Hints, I have closing tags set for "</". This works fine for every tag except for cfquery. There are a couple other people I work with who have the same issue but at the same time there are plenty of people who do not have this issue at all. I've gone as far as uninstalling Dreamweaver entirely (including deleting all of my preferences) and reinstalling it after a reboot. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas on how I can fix this?
Note: Setting it to close after typing the opening tag doesn't work either; for cfquery. All other tags work just fine. o_OI think I've found the culprit... CF9 Extensions for Dreamweaver! I uninstalled everything related to Adobe from my system making sure to select "Remove Preferences" as well. Then I ran ccleaner and manually searched through my registry for anything related to Adobe and deleted it. Rebooted and reinstalled CS5. The cfquery tag (auto close) was finally working! So I then proceeded to install the updates and the HTML5 and CF9 extensions. All of a sudden cfquery stopped working again. So I removed the CF9 extension, tested again, and presto! cfquery worked.
So there's got to be something in the CF9 extensions killing cfquery. I don't know how to open up this extension to see what it's made of. Any ideas?
EDIT: I think I might have narrowed it down even more. I thought maybe it was the code hints xml file that the Extension itself overwrites but it's identical to the original one. Then I noticed that the Extension adds a new folder with redefined tags (Application Data/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5/en_US/Configuration/Content/Reference/CFML). This folder does not exist without the extension and contains "cfquery.htm". I tried to rename it and reload Dreamweaver to see if that fixed the issue but it didn't. So technically I'm still looking for a solution but at least this time it's now a solution to retain the CF9 Extension and the ability for an auto closing cfquery tag haha
UPDATE: Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS5\en_US\Configuration\TagLibraries\cfml. The files cfquery.cfm and cfquery.vtm. I backed up those files and renamed them to .old and cfquery auto closes properly even with the CF9 extension enabled! Getting closer! I guess I'll have to open those up and see what's going on. They don't exist with the CF9 extension disabled so I'm not certain what to look for.
FINAL UPDATE: So it would seem that nothing needs to be changed in either of those files. Simply renaming them, loading Dreamweaver, renaming them back, and reloading Dreamweaver did the trick. CF9 extension enabled and no issues with the cfquery tag. Perhaps there's a problem with Dreamweaver initially loading those tag files or pulling from cache somewhere before the extension was installed. Either way, it works.

IPhone 6 Touch Screen Not Responsive
Hi everyone-
Just curious if anyone is having the same problems as me. There have been several times now where I'm touching my iPhone 6 screen, but there is no response from the phone. This happens both within apps as well as on the home screen. The problem is not just with my phone, but with my fiances iPhone 6 as well.
I've tried the power on/off but that's more of a temporary fix. Is it worth going to apple store and asking to switch for a new device? I've had every iPhone model since the first, this is the first time I've experienced response issues...
Curious to hear the rest of the communities thoughts.Have you ever dropped your phone? You know I thought my screen was acting weird because of the ios updates. It first started twitching in certain apps. When I updated to 8.3 the twitching was gone but then all of a sudden my screen started blink white. Touch won't work but when the screen blinks wildly it will start opening apps on its own. Like a possessed phone it would open things, close, start typing...I'd have to either tap it with my hand or twist the frame a bit and it'll start working. I'm thinking it's because of the several times my phone dropped. Elsewhere I read some people having a clean wipe/factory reset solving their issue...

I have a question about closing application. I have a console application that a user can always close by typing Ctrl+c or closing the command prompt.
I would like to catch this action in order the application to execute some small code just before closing. Is it possible ? How can I do this ?

My Complaints To The Playbook Design Team
Bought Playbook 3 days ago, now I kind of regret it.... i dunno. The interface is fast and smooth unlike android tablets, and the web browser is pretty good, got flash and all those good stuff. Here is a list of my complaints:
1. Extremely laggy apps: App World, Bing Map (unusable and closes itself sometimes)
(the app world is so frustrating to use. theres 1 category with only 1 app!! Are you serious?)
(Some app icons in the app world made it so ugly)
(Bing maps is garbage. I'm sorry.)
2. Browser randomly crashes and closes. (was typing this on my PB and it closed on me)
3. No mail client (just some web links. Lazy.)
4. App world is messed up... no apps, poor presentation, poor quality
5. Settings menu lag?? why?????!!! Its just a menu.................... just make it smooth please. don't you guys know how to make a MENU???
6. MSN and skype would have been nice.
7. Half-baked youtube app (at least give us channel support, right now im watching videos in browser (which is perfectly fine but the app looks better))
8. Unable to connect to mac in usb mode
9. Can't you guys speed up the app startup animation?? It can get annoying. If you can make all those cool transations why cant you make the settings menu smooth????
10. I still do not understand why tegra 2 cant handle a system menu. What were the QA people doing? What were the programmers doing???????????????? No amount of question and exclaimation marks can express my anger and frustration. It needs to be reworked immedietly, and an update should be released by the end of next Friday. Fix that app world too. The brownish red color combined with lags and ugly icons are just too depressing, too much to handle.
So now I am stuck with this tablet because the place where I purchased it won't accept returns with opened packages.... I spent 60 more for the leather case too!!!! I like RIM because its founded in Waterloo and I am a student at UW, but PB currently SUCK comparing to other tablets on the market. Please fix asap or I have to sell this on EbaySeeing as this is a support forum...

Weird, I've just used Bing maps and noticed that it's been cleaned up a little and looking much better.
You have1 app in one category in App World? Sounds like you might need to reset the cache. Bring up the keyboard and type in 'rst'.
RIM have very little control over what icons developers give their applications.
If by lag you're referring to the slightly jerky scrolling - I believe that App World was written in Flash instead of native code, so it appears slower than, say, the home screen which is super smooth. Hopefully RIM will optimise it down the line, but it's a relatively minor issue on the scheme of things.

Fair play, this has happened to me a little lately. I have noticed that there's a memory leak somewhere, but it doesn't happen all the time. All I can suggest is restarting the PlayBook if you notice the memory get low.

There's a mail client coming in the summer. Web links aren't ideal, I agree. And if ou don't have a BlackBerry phone I appreciate that this can be annoying.

Works perfectly smoothly on my PlayBook. Have you restarted the PlayBook since you first used it? You might be getting the memory problem that I described in point 2.

Yes, they would have . MSN is likely to come since RIM and Microsoft are now apparently best buds. And seeing as Microsoft have just bought Skype... Who knows?

Viva la difference! If the browser fits your needs better, use that. Maybe they will add bells and whistles to the YouTube app, but I'm happy to have it simple like it is. However, that's not to say that it couldn't do with some improvements down the line. You might want to throw that suggestion in the "Things We'd Like to see RIM improve topic".
8. Unable to connect to mac in usb mode
I honestly can't help you here. I run Linux and I can't connect to the PlayBook AT ALL through USB. Luckily networking sharing over Wifi keeps everything working nicely.

Point 5 again? Seriously, I get no lag on mine. And if a reboot doesn't work you might want to use your technical support contact that gets emailed to you when you start using the PlayBook. I'm not sure why you take such offense to the App World colour.

Dreamweaver does not auto-complete /script tag
Dremaweaver CS5 Version 11.0 Build 4993 - does not close script tag. I type <script> include the text then type </ and the Script tag is NOT closed.
When I type </ the script tag should complete and close automatically.
So, for example:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
function closeThisWindow() {
window.close();

I have to type </script> because it does not auto-complete.

Ok, Jon, thank you. I've not used a lot of </ within the scripts that I've written so, so far, that hasn't been a problem for me. Your explanation makes sense though. It also explains why it works if you select the option to: close after typing the opening tag's ">". Because once the opening and closing tags have been populated, entering </ would have no effect on the scripot tag at all.
Very nice response Jon. This behavior is crystal clear now and in fact, it seems to be a feature, not a bug.

When logging in into yahoo mail after typing in password Firefox is adding something, probably remembered password and login fails all the time. At yahoo mail Notepad does not work because it is impossible to close the list of items and they cover information, so I have to go to IE.
Only when i go to a different browser (like IE) after i clear it , then all that shows up is the pages i visited in IE , that is what bugs me , why is IE browsing history sowing up in Firefox ??
Basically , i can clear the history in Firefox , and then for a example , go to Craigslist , using IE7 (launching it from a complete different Icon , in other words at that time i never open Firefox) , then after closing out , or even leaving open as it does not seem to matter , i go into Firefox , and hit History , and there is every place i visited in IE7 , on my History in Firefox -
When I have Facebook open, I get pop-ups in the lower right corner that tell me that I have new notifications or messages in Facebook. When the little pop-up shows, no matter what I am typing, my cursor is taken away until I click the x to close the pop-up. It is very annoying and slows me down so much. It disables my typing.
If this cannot be resolved, I will either go back to version 5 or uninstall Firefox completely.Do a custom install and install each version in its own program folder to use multiple Firefox versions.

First of all quit the mail app and all of the apps that have frozen. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the mail app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the app. Close the other apps the same way. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
What I would try next is to delete the email on the server in your web mail account using Safari or another browser. Then when you go back to the mail app - if it opens ok - and the if mesaage is still there in the inbox - swipe on the mesaage - left to right - in the list on the left side - and hopefully the red delete button will pop up. Hit delete to remove it from the inbox. Do the same thing when you go to your trash folder in that email account - swipe the message to delete it. -
Investigating why FF was using so much memory I was advised to use "Restore Firefox" button.
Did that but now I can`t use "tools" "options" `cos it closes the browser. Other menus under "tools" work OK.
If I try to download any updates for plug-ins etc the FF browser closes down.
Can`t browse my images folders to add to interactive sites.....closes down FF
Can type a URL but nothing happens but if I enter a "bookmarked" url or a "history" url then it is OK

Many of the fixes say "go to Tools & Options" but when I click on Options the browser again closes.
I seem to have lost access to IE some while ago and have been using Firefox OK up until recently, but then my computer started to go very slow and the Task Manager keeps showing 100% usage of the CPU.
When I start the pc with only the desktop displaying, the CPU usage is 60-70% and around 35 processes are running. Is this normal?
When I open Firefox the usage increases rapidly until the CPU shows 100%.
It was while resetting Firefox to try and sort this usage problem that I lost my download ability and the use of "tools" then "options" and also urls that are typed in.(bookmarks & history ok)
Any advice welcome. -

My history will drop down from the navigation bar and highlight the letters I am typing so I can choose a previous page if I want to. But when I press enter to tell it to go to a site the drop down does not go away I have to click somewhere to make it go away. It is suppose to just go away when you click one of the history items it shows or press enter to go to a site and it doesn't anymore.Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
