Closed caption font size

I guess asking for beautiful fonts like those avaiable on DirecTV (as early as 3 years ago) is too much. Just a simple request, please please solve the issue that all fonts are stretched wide on the new 1.9 system, on a 16:9 TV.
Even with small font size, the characters are so stretched that they take almost 1/4 of the screen, and they do look UGLY. And why it's always all capitals?

Contrasting the background with the text is key for people with visual impairments.  Also making the text large enough to read while maintaining space on the canvas is always a challenge.  Displaying 2-3 lines of text at a large font works well.  Also, if you want to reposition the CC panel, I've got a widget you can try here:

    Hello,
    How do you change the font size in Closed Captioning?
    Currently my 508 CC feature is worthless unless folks are able to
    read the text. It looks like a 6pt or at the most an 8pt font.
    Thank you for any help on this.

  • Captivate 7 Closed Captioning Font

    Hi all,
    I'm using the latest version of Captivate 7 and I've set my closed captioning font to Myriad Pro. It looks perfect on my computer, but appears as Times New Roman on my client's computers. How can this be?

    In other places it is converted to an image before publishing, for dynamic text it happens on runtime, and that is probably the cause.

  • Font size caption

    I've just updated my iPhoto and now when I print a contact sheet with captions I cannot enlarge the font size.  I have set the caption size to "large" in the settings but you need a magnifying glass to see anything. This is ridiculous. Where can I change the Caption Font size?

    Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • Change default font & default font size

    As far as I can make out it's not possible to reset the default font or font size in LC Designer ES 8.2........or is it, & if so, how?
    I found this page re LC ES3, but it doesn't seem to apply to earlier versions.
    TIA

    Hi,
    Designer uses predefined objects which are stored as *.xfo files unser your user account.
    C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Designer\10.0\DE\Objects\Standard
    You can open such files with any simple text editor and modify them.
    For example, you open the NumericEdif.xfo in your editor.
    Them you'll see an XML file where you'll find the information for the typeface and the size.

                         <text>Numerisches Feld</text>
                      </value>
                   </caption>
                </field>
    Just change the name of the typeface and the size in the way you like and save the file.
    You don't need to restart Designer, the next tiome you choose the nemueric field, it's created with the new font settings.

  • Adobe Captivate 7: Change font size of imported localized closed captions

    I'm attempting to use the export/import captions functionality in Captivate 7 and when I import the text, the imported Japanese characters are HUGE. The font in the imported Word doc aren't that big and I'm unsure how to adjust the imported closed captions to they display correctly. As you can see below, the characters are way too big. I've tried adjusting the font size in the CC Project Settings window, but no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

  • PSE4-change font size in captions

    Does anyone know what file to change the font size for captions? I am really surprised this isn't an option.
    I also had the problem of the caption not working in slide shows with a version set. Even tried retyping the caption on the top picture, still didn't work. Ended up deleting the version set and/or creating a copy of the picture.

    >> I can't find an option to modify the font size.
    I think that it was a double click within the text box that gave me the choices to modify the font size, color, style which appeared on the right hand side of the slide show editor screen (below the extras like graphics or frames).
    There might also be a menu choice for editing text but I am not sure.
    >tried the retyping of the caption in each picture and it didn't work consistently.
    I dont remember that not working - what happened ?
    All I can think of is that font sizes too large for the text box can appear to be "nothing".

  • Increasing font size / captions of pictures in slideshow view

    Hello,
    Is there any way to make the caption / font, that appears below the pictures while viewing the individual pictures in a slideshow, larger? I can change the font size using the inspector on the static iWeb page, but when I publish to the website and view it online, the captions below the pictures (in slideshow) are still small / hard to read?
    Thanks and sorry if this is a repost...I can't seem to find an answer to this question.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Cyclosaurus' post in this topic may not be the view you want to change but take a look at it anyway: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8367274&#8367274.

  • How to increase font size in captions

    Does anyone know if it is possible to increase the font and size of the captions?
    Thanks

    Michelle,
    This subject came up yesterday:
    Kenneth Liffmann, "HOW DO I : Add caption to photos; show captions when photo prints" #1, 14 Jan 2007 12:44 pm
    1. The output of the text tool is tied, to a greater or lesser degree, to the resolution of the image. It is advisable to have the image resolution in the 240-300px/in range for printing. Go to Image>resize>image size
    2. You can add text to appear on the picture itself using the text tool. When you type the text, it will be on its own layer. You may select font& font size after highlighting the text, just as you would in a conventional word processing program. In addition, you can warp the text - Layer>type>warp text
    3. If you want the product description to appear below the picture against a neutral background rather than being superimposed on the picture itself, you can do that as I outlined in my post in yesterday's thread referenced above.
    Please let us know how you make out and feel free to repost.

  • Font size issue in caption name of screen in syclo

    Hi,
    I am working on a syclo agentry project.
    We have many screens in my application and we are using Motorola ET1 device with android version 4.1.1.
    The issue is that when we are keeping the deivce in landscape view the caption name of the screen is getting half cropped from bottom.
    For reference i have put one screenshot below.
    Also it is coming just fine in portrait view.
    Is there any way that the font size can be minimized or some configuration change in application so that this issue can be resolved.
    Thanks,
    Star

    I tested on a device here and see the same issue using 6.0.40.1.  I would consider this a bug and open an issue with support so they can escalate and have it corrected.  It appears to be device/os version specific as I don't see the issue on Android 2.3.4 but I do see it on Android 4.1.1 and Android 4.4.2.
    I am also going to open an issue with Engineering on this as well.

  • DVD Player randomly quits when using closed captioning

    I have been experiencing this issue on two different 10.4.11 machines, both intel. A MBPro and a Mini.
    The DVD Player normally works fine, disc after disc, unless I turn on closed captions (not subtitles, but similar), then the DVD Player will quit randomly every 1-3 discs. I have done all the permission fixes and usual cache deletions, but nothing seems to work. I have also deleted preferences and plists on both machines.
    The crash log is usually cryptic, and all I can discern is that thread "one" crashed.
    Can anyone else reproduce this issue, or have other suggestions?

    Hi,
    Try a different font... here's how: Customizing the look of closed captioning text
    You can change the font and color of closed captioning text. You can also change the color and transparency of the closed captioning box for optimal viewing when the captions are displayed over the video.
    Choose DVD Player > Preferences, and then click Windows.
    In the Closed Captioned section, click the Text color button and select a color to use for text.
    Click the Background color button and select a contrasting background color.
    Drag the transparency slider to the right (lighter) or to the left (darker).
    Choose a font from the Font pop-up menu.
    You can customize the font size as well, but the size setting only applies to closed captioning in a separate window.

  • Editing the properties of the closed captioning area.

    Is there a way to edit the properties of the closed captioning (CC) area.  I mean besides the number of lines and font type and size.
    For instance in a responsive design project the closed captioning runs under the X to close the CC window in the phone view.
    I know if they have a phone why would they want to see the CC, but someone has asked us to see about fixing that.

    The file extension does not matter. It is an .html file. I put it right after the existing Style:
    <style type="text/css">#initialLoading{background:url(assets/htmlimages/loader.gif) no-repeat center center;background-color:#ffffff;position:absolute;margin:auto;top:0;left:0;right:0;bottom :0;z-index:10010;}</style>
    <style>
    @media screen and (max-width: 300px) {
        #ccClose {
            display:none;
    </style>
    Also you might want to change the max-width to 400 or something. You can test in the broswer and then resizing until you hit the threshhold.

  • Closed captions + SDH made a mess by Apple TV 6.0. Any fixes?

    We've found that the Apple TV 6.0 software update made a mess of closed captions + SDH .  It suddenly changed the size and color and font on its own.  To make things worse, when we try to send them right with the new customizable closed caption style settings, we can't make them look like they did before the 6.0 software update.  The customizable choices are too small, too large, or much too large than they were before.

    The movies are not orphaned. There is a flaw in the latest version. There are several posts on this issue. Actually be happy they are on AppleTV. Several of us have purchased through iTunes. We sync, but when the computer loses the link with ATV requiring a new code. When the code is entered it re-syncs itunes and ATV, but you lose the movies that were transferred to ATV requiring you to move movies back to ATV.
    They are probably working on a fix.

  • Closed captions with Captivate 5

    Although, I went through the help part and some of the earlier discussion it didnt solve my problem. I would simply like to include sub-titles (close-captions) on my slide. these are the instructions I followed:
    Select the check boxes in the closed captions column and corresponds to the notes you want to convert to closed captions.
    Click Closed Captioning.
    In the Closed Captioning of the Slide Audio dialog box, adjust the start time and end time for the caption.
    Click the + icon to add additional closed captions. Click the ‘-’ icon to remove closed captions.
    Click CC Project Settings to change the font, size, color, background, and the number of lines in which the captions must be displayed.
    the thing is: although when I click on 'Captions & Slide Notes...' under 'Slide Audio' , the text seems to be included only under the Slide Notes and not under the Captions. And it does not allow me to copy/paste the text under the Captions tab. When I try checking the preview, the sub-titles are not visible.
    I know I am working in the right area but just need a hint so I can finally have the closed captions. Screen shots would really help too:)
    Thanks.

  • Closed captioning issues DVD studio Pro and workflow

    So I have been trying to attach a .scc file to a dvd for the optioin of closed captioning. (for 2 dyas now)  I did figure out a workflow to make it happen but all the suggested workflows online and in the book did not work for me and I have no idea why.
    I have a HD sequence 1440x1080.  It has some old SD video in it as well.
    The only way I was able to get a DVD with closed captioning was this workflow:
    Go to HD sequence and select all in timeline so it is highlighted.  Command (apple) C so it is copied.
    Go to File> New Sequence.
    Control click on new sequence and go to settings.
    under general tab make sure that it is set to  720x480 with NTSC (3:2) chosen from the drop down menu
    Pixel aspect is set to NTSC CCIR 601/DV and that anamorphic IS checked
    dominance : lower (even)
    frame rate 29:97
    QT vid settings DV/DVCPRO-NTSC
    audio 48 khz 16-bit channel grouped.
    click OK
    Then open SD sequence and command (apple) V to paste.
    At this point I noticed that the SD video on the new SD timeline was expanded or blown up.  I had to control click each SD shot in the timeline (or do one at a time) and control click> remove attributes.  It gave me a few options to click and when those in dark font are clicked it will set your SD shots back to normal.
    I tried Hightlighting the entire SD seauence and changing the attributes, but it effected the HD video also so it was easier to just adjust the SD shots in the SD timeline/sequence.
    Now that everything was normal in my SD sequence, I exported out a QT video.
    I opened up DVD Studio Pro and put my QT file in it.  Went to DVD Studio Pro preferences in the top left corner and made sure that MPEG-2 SD tab was open
    clicked 4:3 aspect ratio
    Start was 00:00:00  etc.
    and for me drop frame was clicked. (my video was shot drop framed)
    click OK
    Click Graphical view (or in outline view it would be tracks and video name) Click on Green "TV" looking  item (for me I wanted the first play on it)
    Then look in your inspector for the tab called "other"
    Click on "other" tab and then where it says file.... click on choose.  Navigate to where your .scc file is and hit ok
    Burn your DVD and test it in QT and on a DVD player/TV to make sure the CC optioin turns off and on.
    That is how I got it to work, but it was changed to a DV format and has some pixelation.
    I read where many folks run their exported QT file from FCP in HD and open it in compressor and change it's size there and make a mpeg 2..Some send the video to compressor from the timeline to make a mpeg 2... some add the .scc file in compressor.... some run their SD file through compressor and change to mpeg 2.  Personally I had NO LUCK in doing anything in compressor (after running 2 days of tests) converting to a mpeg 2 in the DVD folder settings,... in using any of the program and elementary streams under the formats folder.  NOTHING worked with any type of mpeg 2  AS well as adding the .scc file to the video in either compressor or in DVD studio Pro.
    WHY?  Why did none of that compressor workflow work?  Why didn't adding the .scc file work in DVD studio pro?
    Anyone have any ideas?

    You have two problems.
    Converting your video to SD
    Getting the .scc file to play nice
    1st problem
    I would export your HD sequence(self contained not QT conversion).
    Many recommend and have had much success using Compressor to do the down convert(frame controls all set to best).
    I prefer using FC to do the down convert. I find it more consistent. This adds a step but still prefer it. I re-import the HD file I just exported into my project and then create an appropriate SD sequuence.  Since your HD sequence displays 16x9 you will want to create a SD anamorphic sequence (I do 720x486 but you can do 480 too). Add the HD file to the new SD seq and then render. Export an SD file and then convert for DVD.
    2nd problem
    I have not had success adding the .scc file in Compressor. It should work but OE and/or other factors have never allowed me to get this to work properly.
    The .scc file is presumably made from your sequence time code or possibly the QT export TC depending on how you sent it out and what you got back. The .scc should be based on the sequence TC. By default tracks in DSP are set to zero based TC which will not reference the TC associated with the original sequence TC which was used to make your .scc file. You can change this by right-clicking(control-click) on the time area in the track and you should see an option for asset-based timecode. Once you have changed this try importing the scc file.
