Closed caption & subtitles trouble on ipod

I have two problems with my 16G ipod.
1. When I download movies it plays great but I spend more time reading the subtitles than watching the movie. I don't have the closed caption on or subtitles. How can I get rid of this problem.
2. My ipod gets hot it that normal?

Netflix uses a proprietary system for subtitles. They have only released the software to show the subtitles on 4 platforms so far: PC & Mac Web Browsers, Wii, & PS3. They do not show on any other platform so far. Netflix says that other platforms, including AppleTV, are "Coming Soon" but no release dates are given. they are adding titles with subtitling to the catalog weekly. Total is now over 700 titles. Sadly, Netflix does not provide any type of search method to allow for searching of titles with Subtitles. I have developed a list of titles on my blog here: http://ncmacasl.blogspot.com/2010/10/netflix-instantwatch-titles-with.html

  • Closed Caption Subtitles on Netflix via Apple TV

The Netflix website says that the show Dexter has subtitles. I have enabled the subtitles / closed caption options on my 2010 Apple TV. Yet they don't show up. Is it me? Did I missed something? Did I enable closed captions the wrong way? Is the Netflix website wrong? Thanks!

  • Closed Captioning/Subtitle Vendors

Has anyone here used any closed captioning or subtitling vendors to create their subs or scc files for them?
Does anyone have recommendations for any companies?
Currently I have only come across captionmax.com as looking like a decent candidate. But if anyone has used other please let me know, as I am doing research into getting our videos professionally CC/subbed.
    Thanks!

  • Encoding videos with closed captioning / subtitles

Now that closed captioning is supported on videos rented / purchased from iTMS, it is clear that the functionality is now supported on the Apple TV. Is anyone aware of any tool(s) that allow subtitles to be included? I already can embed the subtitles into the video using the various tools, but I am seeking a way to have true closed captioning that can be toggled on / off.
As far as I know, the MP4 container does not support any type of subtitles in the container format. Therefore, Apple must be using a different format for its videos. Is it proprietary or some standard container format?

Do not confuse Subtitles with Closed Captioning. For now, the only way to support subtitles is to place them in the video.

  • CC closed captioning / subtitles

I know how to search CC movies in itunes, but when y find them (marked with "CC") how do I see which subtitles are available?
The same applies for Apple TV 2
I cannot find any description either in itunes or apple TV describing the available subtitles
    Any idea?

By law, broadcast TV shows are required to have Closed Captioning. Up to and until the iTunes Store offers its shows complete with CC, I will not purchase any. It should be criminal that CC is not offered on every available video.

This is a necessary information before renting/buying a movie. Seems logical, but?

  • Problems with Closed Captioning (subtitles)

The last upgrade of the STB software fixed many of the problems with closed captioning.  However, there are still a number of problems.  For those of us with hearing impairment, it would really be nice if they got it right.  Now, at least all of the closed captioned dialog shows up (which it didn't used to do -- before, it would overwrite itself on certain stations).  However, some of the dialog shows up on the screen for only a fraction of a second -- too fast to read it.  Please help us hearing impaired people!!!!!

  • Inbetweeners 2 Closed Caption / Subtitles UK Store

    Hi,
So I love the inbetweeners and decided to rent the 2nd movie.
I looked on the internet and it came up on Google, however the Australian store loaded up and it had the CC logo (meaning there will be captions) I need these due to being deaf.  I then got redirected to the UK store due to that being my location.
When it loaded up the CC logo was nowhere to be found (on the UK store) but it is on the Australian store.
Why is there CC on one store but not the other?
Very frustrating, BTW I haven't bought it yet as I wanted some answers/confirmation.
    Thanks
    JDanjoux

The rights-holders decide where a particular film is available, and what options it has with it for each country.
You can try requesting that the version with closed captioning be added to the UK store (you have to be in a country to use its store so you can't buy it from the Australian store), but unless the rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell that version here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Deleting closed captions & subtitles

how do I delete .stl or .scc files?
I imported both for a project. I tried deleting the .stl file from the project folder, but the subtitles still appear.

Click in the subtitle area in the track. Either chose "Select all " from the Edit menu, or press Command A. When the subtitles are selected hit Delete button. To remove CC, delete reference file from Line 21 in the Inspector. Don't forget to make a new build.

  • Closed Caption or Subtitles on Movies in iTunes for AppleTV

I bought an Apple TV Dec 2008 but am waiting for Subtitles or Closed Captions so that I can watch a movie. Does anyone know when they are going to appear? I am nearly deaf. I did rent one that I thought I saw CC on but it turned out it was not. Right now I have to use Netflix while my ATV collects dust. Nice "screen saver" but pretty expensive. Thanks.

I'm disappointed that I can't get the closed caption/subtitles on movies I've rented on iTunes. I'm pretty sure they exist, and if I had the physical DVD I could verify this. Will subtitles be available on Apple TV when they are available on the original? I tried the CC/subtitles on/off and nothing happened.

  • How to create closed captioning in premiere

We have a series of short educational videos, and we need to add closed captioning subtitles.
Every set instructions says we need to import a .scc or .mcc file, but where do we create the file?  How do we create the file?

    See if this helps:

  • Closed Caption Features for iTune Movie Downloads?

While I was glad to see that Apple plans to offer a movie download service with the iTunes Store, I'm still inclined to NOT use the service if there's no assurance that closed captioned/subtitled movies will be available as well.
Will iTunes Movie downloads include captioned media?
Today's DVDs all have features enabling us to turn on captions/subtitles and it's already a shame that Netflix, according to a representative's comment made nearly two years ago, will not provide captioned movies "until the near future"...
I hope Apple takes its hearing-impaired (deaf and hard of hearing) customer base into consideration...and it IS a sizeable customer base.

The question on the minds of the millions of deaf and hard of hearing people is whether Apple will make or enable captioning for their downloadable movies. I blogged about this a few weeks ago at HearingExchange online here: http://www.hearingexchange.com/blogs/?p=93 Apple didn't consider people with hearing loss when they made their iPhone non-compatible with hearing aids and cochlear implant processors. For a technology company, they aren't keeping up with accessibility trends. This is both disheartening and disappointing for people who struggle to participate socially and professionally on a daily basis with the world at large.

  • Premiere Pro CC: Burning closed captions to video

I'm going to put subtitles on some video clips I have, using Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
Is there a way to export the video and the closed caption subtitles as a single video file?

    Hi Exsulator,
    Welcome to the forums.
For more information regarding closed captioning click the link below. It will give you brief idea about the supported formats and Exporting of closed captioning data.

  • Closed captions while watching previews

is there a way to watch a preview with closed captions/subtitles?

A few other issues about closed captioning in Premiere CC 7.2.1:
    1.  CEA-608 specirication has a maximum line length of 32 characters per line.  The software should address this fact by limiting text input or wrapping the lines or somehow alerting you if you are putting in too much text.  As it is now, Premiere allows you to input as much text as you like and doesn't tell you that you are outside the CEA-608 specification.
    2.  There needs to be some global formatting available.  If you want to center all captions, or bottom align all titles, or make them all paint on or rollup1, it needs to be possible to change them all in one shot.  And also switch between CC1 and CC2; I don't see why that has to be locked after you start.
    3.  The text of the caption shows on the timeline video track, which is great, but it would be nice if you could double click that text to edit it.  Now, when you double click the timeline track, it just goes to some random title.
    4.  Importing linkage problem....  If I import a SCC or XML file with some captions and then go on to add 50 more or change all of them, Premiere keeps those changes, and does not update the linked SCC or XML file that I originally imported (now defunct since I made so many changes).  Fine.  But, if I delete that SCC or XML file from my hard drive, the next time I load Premiere, it still looks for that SCC or XML source file and if it can't find it, all my captions go offline.  Big problem.  Premiere is demanding that I keep around a defunct file that it doesn't even reference anymore.
Scott, I've had some luck with Subtitle Edit (www.nikse.dk), and it seems to deal with the SCC format pretty well.  EZ Titles is fantastic, but expensive.
