Closed Captioning in CS5.5 not working

I have tried this feature to no avail.  The procedure we did here was output the audio file and sent to the captioner who did their thing and sent an .scc file back.  I imported that file into premiere and nothing. We use blackmagic to output to tape and it doesn’t seem to work.  I went online and found an .scc file someone made as an example and that imported.  Of course it was a lot shorter, as our show is 28:30 long. Are there restrictions within premiere accepting .scc files?  For example.. is there some issue/bug with long format or is there an issue with how the file is exported or what the cc is created in?  I’m not as familar with that process of the actual creation of the cc files.  I like this feature and mainly why I upgraded, so can anyone give any suggestions on what to do?  The company that made the .scc file said that they have had trouble getting files to work with Premiere CS5.5.  I typically use a timeline created with a blackmagic preset.  According to the demo online of this, that shouldn't be a problem at all.  Any help on this would be great.

Though the link to this Adobe KB Article does appear in the thread, that Joe linked to, it might not stand out, so I reposted it here.
Good luck,
Hunt

Sorry to say it, but I think you can see from Bob's response that there's no way to solve this rapidly.
Did you take an image of your Mountain Lion install before upgrading to Yosemite? Roll back to that. If you're not in the habit of taking a snapshot of your system before performing operating system upgrades - get in that habit. If you are dependent on anything at all on hour computer, having a reliable backup method in place is essential. If you don't have a Time Capsule, or some other way to run Time Machine onto a disk that's not in your computer, go set that up yesterday.
If you can't just remove Yosemite and roll back to Mountain Lion for whatever reason, you can partition your drive so that you can install both Yosemite and Mountain Lion on the same drive, and then boot into Mountain Lion when you need to work in CS5. Or you can take your Mountain Lion disc (I assume you have one, no?) and then use it to create a virtual machine in something like VirtualBox to run Mountain Lion from inside Yosemite.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 is not working with Lion.

Adobe Photoshop CS5 is not working with Lion. It is totally non responsive to a point where i cannot work. all other CS5 programs seem to be running well so far. any advice? if no, then how do i revert back to Snow leopard?

I had real problems with all Adobe apps - it said I needed to install a version of Jave Runtime, but kept saying that I wasn't connected to the internet to complete the action. This was not the case - I was connected to the internet.
I followed this link : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421  to install a version of Java and all Adobe apps fire up now. Haven't done much testing within the apps, but at least I'm further ahead than I was.
So thanks to the message boards for helping me out.

Since I upgraded to Yosemite in October, my photoshop CS5 does not work correctly. When right clicking to change a brush size, the adjuster when moving to the right or left, either sticks or moves radically. As I set the size of the brush and move my cursor back to the image, the adjuster moves with the cursor.

  • Directx 11 and now Premiere CS5 will not work.

I finally got my ATI 5770 working with Directx 11 and now Premiere CS5 will not work

I just installed what I thought was Directx 11.  The latest file update I downloaded is only 9. dxwebsetup.exe from Microsofts web.
I have a Dell XPS 8100.  I was on the phone with AMD/ATI, DELL, and XFX.  Dell said the card was an ATI, and AMD/ATI said that ATI now just makes the chips.  I tried Sapphire ATI 5770 and they didn't work, then I tried a program the took off all the drivers and I got the Dell drivers from the web, thinking that they are on OEM and with the DP Adapter, I finally got the 3rd ATI Eyefinity monitor to work. I tried Cuty of Duty and it worked for a couple of minutes.  I'm not into games, but I like the three monitors for learning software. One monitor is the video training and one is the software and the other is the Internet or an ebook.
Now Premiere doesn't like anything. I tried going back to one monitor, and different resolutions. I had two monitors working at one time on this computer. I like the Time line monitor window on it's own monitor and the rest of Premiere on the left monitor.
    I was reading that Premiere likes 1280 x 900. That is not a mode on the ATI 1280 x 960 or 1280 x 1024.
Could it be the latest Directx it installed or the fact the Display Port is in the card?

  • Closed Captions in CS5.5

I need to find out from someone who knows exactly what ALL the capabilities are of CS5.5 Closed Captioning. the blog and few other pages i have read have been fairly vague.
The only thing i know for sure is that i can attach a .scc file to a sequence and enable viewing in my program monitor and that worked when i tested it.
What else does it do? can i then export the sequence out to an mpeg or xdcam mxf file with the captions intact? are they line 21 608 captions for SD exports? are they digital 708 captions for HD exports? can i record them to tape? DV? SDI? (I have an Axio card with SDI output)
If i Export them does the display setting need to be enabled to be exported?
Can i capture video with 608 captions and see them decoded in my program monitor during playback? Then export back out to tape or encode as a file with captions intact?
If i import an XDCAM HD MXF file with 708 captions and export it back out after editing are they going to remain intact?
We are a tapeless broadcaster and would prefer to be able to handle everything within our normal file based workflow. We normally render out mpeg files from premiere for our seachange broadcast server for all of our SD channels, and we render out MXF files for our Snell HD server.
I have been trying to experiment with all of this for a few days and have not had much luck other then viewing the .scc file.
    thanks!

    Digitlman,
I'll attempt to answer your specific questions:
If i use another program to create a .scc file and attach it to a sequence, then what are my options for printing that to a tape or exporting it to a file and having the captions intact?
You can print to tape two ways.
    1.  By connecting a FireWire cable to your computer, connect the other end to a DV deck, DV camera, or MediaConverter (Sony DVMC-DA1 like device) to other recorder (Betacam) and then crash record.  It's only standard def, and not terrible accurate.
    2.  Purchase a product from one of the 3rd party vendors that can embed and output the caption data via SDI or HD-SDI.  Todd posted this link, http://blogs.adobe.com/premiereprotraining/2011/04/closed-captions-in-adobe-premiere-pro-c s5-5.html , that listed some vendors, perhaps there are more now, or an updated driver for your Matrox Axio?  I don't know off hand, and I would suggest calling Matrox or browsing their web page for updated drivers.
In Premiere Pro CS5.5 there is no way to export to a file and maintain the caption data from the source media, or from a sequence.  As I say that, there is possible one exception, but probably not of use.  If a user imports a DV clip, and exports it as DV (perhaps trimmed or metadata added) it should still contain caption data, as we'll copy the compressed frames instead of recompressing which will result in a reduction in quality.
The second is the ability to ingest from tape or import a file that already has visible line21 608 captions on it. (like the picture i posted previously)
In this situation how does premeire retain those captions and what are my options for printing that to a tape or exporting it to a file and having the captions intact?
Premiere Pro CS5.5 does not decode captions from imported or captured media.  The caption data from imported or captured clips is not retained during export or print to tape.
The last more difficult option is what if we have a SD file with visible line21 608 captions and we want to upconvert it to HD 1920x1080 and add ears on the sides, can we retain the captions in the HD file output? (MXF preferably) You say 5.5 will convert from 608 to 708, does that apply to this situation?
I believe this has been answered above, but no.  Premiere Pro CS5.5 doesn't decode line 21 caption data, nor embed into the exported HD file.  The 608 to 708 conversion code is currently used when printing to tape, but could be used for future features.
If that does not then could we extract the captions with other software and attach that .scc to the sequence and then export the 1080i XDCAM HD MXF file with captions intact for our broadcast server?
Yes and no.  You could extract the caption data from line 21 with a variety of tools, and then attach that to a sequence.  But the export would have to be via print to tape, not file export.
fyi: we have Matrox Axio LE cards in our editors and i have put a clip in with line21 608 captions and played out realtime SDI to our Snell server and it passed through the captions just fine.
    That is good to here.

  • Closed captioning for video no longer works for iPhone 4 since iOS 5.0 update. Is there a fix for this?

Closed captioning while video-playing is one of the coolest features of iOS devices. But for my iPhone (and an iPad user elsewhere from the Net), ever since I updated to iOS 5, the closed captioning icon no longer appear amongst the list of icons when you play a video WITH a closed caption capability.
I have played videos with closed captions before prior to iOS updates and been having no problems till I tried with iOS 5.
I tried turning the setting on/off in the Videos Settings, tried deleting and re-adding the video to the phone and also rebooted the phone.
Hoped someone could find a fix for this. The community can try it on iOS 5 and see if it is also an issue for them since I haven't seen but rarely people having this issue i'm having.

My son has a similar problem since updating to the latest software on his iphone 4. He can make calls but the other person can't hear him. Facetime and Skype work fine - so it must be the lower microphone that is the problem. He's had it checked at the Apple store in Chiang Mai but they won't fix it - he has to get it back to the UK for service. It's 2 months over the warranty period but having checked around it seems this problem is widespread and Apple need to sort it fast!
I've updated mine and it's fine - but I'm gonna take out applecare before the warranty runs out as I'm not risking having a £495 phone that I can't use as a phone.
I was thinking of buying one for my wife this Xmas but no way whilst they are having so many problems.
COME ON APPLE - GET THIS FIXED WITH A NEW RELEASE ASAP!

  • EMail Link in SWF exported from InD CS5 does not work

I'm trying to find a definitive answer on this. I have designed an interactive document in InD CS5 that has buttons and hyperlinks. When exported to SWF everything works except my e-mail hyperlink. It works fine in InDesign's preview pane. I've uploaded the file to my webserver for testing, the problem still occurs.
I found one post in another forum that quoted an Adobe InD developer stating that as of CS4 email links were not exported. However, I've not been able to find any mention of whether this works in CS5 or not.
Does anybody know for sure whether or not email links work in SWF files exported from CS5?

Sorry, no offense was intended. I had found references to problems with CS4, but nothing about CS5, and said as much in my post -- was frustrated that I had spent a long time looking and hadn't found any responses yet.
You mentioned using buttons rather than hyperlinks, and that worked for me -- but it might have just been a problem with my browser not properly reloading the flash file, too -- as I mentioned in my response.
But in any case, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTION!

  • Photoshop CS5 Bridge not working

I have windows 7 and cannot get the Bridge from Photoshop CS5 to work this is a real problem as most of my photographs are taken in RAW and I can't see the picture in the folder
I have tried most of the answers to this problem from the forum. Launching from start menu and through Program Files doesn't work. Not sure how to change from 64 bit to 32 bit in Windows 7
Adobe if you read this why not solve a problem instead of just bringing out a new version and expecting us to purchase this?

You need to give more details.  Why does it not work - error message, crash, freeze, never worked, worked yesterday?
Does it work when launched as seperate program from Bridge icon?

  • Uninstall Photoshop CS5.1 not working - Error 6

Hi. As my Photoshop is giving me an an ERROR 6, I tried the Uninstall icon within the folder ADOBE PS CS5.1 and it also gives an ERROR 6. I can't really follow the online solutions that i have found. I am on an imac 2012 and have just upgraded to Yosemite (but was getting ERROR 6 with OS10.8.5). There is 600GB storage available and 4GB memory unused. I just downloaded and installed Java for OS X 2014-001.
I don't understand the CC Cleaner Tool (or much else about how to fix things) and am seeking advice so I don't stuff up my mac.
I have copied over from my laptop only Photoshop..and plan to uninstall PS and install the whole CS.
In addition... I bought this CS5 disc in store, and whilst i have the serial number, I don't have a cd slot in the imac. I read that I can download trial version and add this serial number. Is that how it works? thank you.

  • CS5 does not work... I have asked ADOBE to stop selling until fixed!

Message I sent to ADOBE after they dug into my RUINED flash file and lost more than 100 hours of design time... I am so PISSED OFF I cannot see straight!  I cannot believe they are actually selling CS5 with the known problems... The software DOES NOT WORK!
Thank you... but seriously Bro this is absurd.  You tell ADOBE couldn’t take another 6 months and BETA this out?  Does ADOBE realize there design software is more expensive than everyone else's?  And it should perform as such and this problem is not a small issue, my system crashes constantly ruining files that may have hundreds of design hours invested and ADOBE is selling this version?
I am making a FORMAL REQUEST that ADOBE STOP selling CS5 until these bugs are worked out.  Tell the if they feel that’s not a good idea ask TOYOTA how that’s working out for them?  Designers like me put so much time into our work there is NO WAY I will risk losing what could amount to ten-of-thousands of dollars in design time by working in CS5.  You have forced me to sit aside the money I invested in CS5 because I cannot trust the build!  How can ADOBE knowingly sell CS5 with these errors?  The software does not WORK!

  • AE cs5 snapshot not working on Mavericks

Im running AE cs5 on a mac and since upgrading to Mavericks the snapshot function in after effects does not work.
After taking a snapshot, it does not display when you click and hold on 'Show snapshot' button.
    My specs:
    OSX 10.9.4
    3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB
    Any help, would be great!

Mac OSX 10.9 is not on the list of supported operating systems for CS5:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/system-requirements.html#main_After_Effects_CS5_syste m_requirements
I would be unsurprised to find that's not the only issue with Mavericks and such an old version of After Effects.
On the off chance that this fixes it, try this: fixing permissions problem that impedes start of Adobe applications
Permissions are often messed up when upgrading Mac OSX (this was especially a problem with 10.9 and 10.10).
