Closed captioning on iPhone for TV shows?

Is it possible to get closed captioning for TV shows on the iPhone? I have the feature turned on in the Ipod settings menu of my iPhone, but I haven't been able to get it to work. Any tips?

Hi,
If the TV episode has CC, then it will appear automatically on your iPhone. However, there are no TV Shows (as much as I know) with Closed Captioning yet, now only in movies.
Hope this helps!

  • How Do I Enable Closed Captions in iTunes 11?

In iTunes 10 I had enabled Preferences>Playback>Show closed captioning when available. This check box has been removed from iTunes 11. How do I enable closed captioning in iTunes 11?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve  = : ^ )

Thanks. This represents a change in conceptualisation from Apple. Previously, closed captions were part of Accessibilty and it was assumed that anyone usings captions would want them on 24/7. It still works this way on iOS devices. On the Apple TV, e.g., closed captions are enabled for the device, via Settings > General > Accessibility > Closed Captions + SDH. Once enabled, captions will be displayed for any content that has them.
Subtitles on the other hand (and subtitles may be in the same language as the audio, they're not just 'foreign') must be enabled or disabled per item of content via the Subtitles menu, which is arrived at by holding the centre button on the remote.
This was the way it used to work in iTunes also. Rolling the Closed Captions into the subtitles menu is new, though I guess it makes sense.

  • No Closed Captioning support in QT 10.3?

    Hi,
I'm on Mavericks with a 3 year old iMac.
A friend sent me a closed-captioned Quicktime MOV file, which displays the CC text
on his Snow Leopard with QT 10.
Absolutely no options for that on my Mavericks' QT 10.3.
And then the Apple "help" site gives instructions as though it IS available.
Fortunately, I dug up an old QT 7 player and it works.
Was it an oversight of Apple to leave out this helpful option in their
    recent editions of Quicktime?
Was it also an oversight of Apple to omit adding to their "help" page,
this very "helpful" clarification:  "Sorry, Closed Captioning is Closed on All versions
    of Quicktime past 10.xx"
I know it's asking a lot but ... REALLY APPLE!

This question came up today for one of our faculty who was using QuickTime 10.3 under MacOS X Yosemite 10.10.2.  The solution we found was to open System Preferences, go to Accessibility, click on Captions on the left side of the window, and then check the "Prefer Closed Captions and SDH" checkbox.  After you do this, restart QuickTime -- you will then be able to select Closed Captions from under the Subtitle menu in the video's control bar, or under the View -> Subtitles menu.
I wish Apple didn't require you to prefer Closed Captions in order for the option to show up at all in QuickTime -- this recent change they made does not seem like an improvement, and I hope they reconsider and restore the old functionality.  Closed Captioning is used by many people who do not have special accessibility needs, for example, people who want to watch with sound turned off, or people learning a foreign language, and it shouldn't be this hard to turn Closed Captioning on.

  • Closed captioning on FIOS library purchased movies

My grandson is partially deaf.  We have purchased a few movies, to watch online, and cannot figure out how to get closed captioning on.  This is NOT using the TV and set top box and remote; this is watching purchased movies online.  Does anyone know how to get the closed captioning, or is it impossible?  I don't want to buy any more movies if my grandson cannot get closed captioning!  Thank you!

    Donna,
It is up to the content provider to make Closed Captioning available for their movies, when you look up a movie for purchase if Closed Captioning is available you will see the CC next to the movie poster showing that Closed Captioning is available for that movie if you don’t see the CC then it’s not available.
Hope this answers yours Question, please let us know if you have any further Questions.

  • QT file with embedded closed captioning created in Premiere converted to MPEG2

Having successfully added closed captioning to a half hour show, we now need to convert it to MPEG2 file. What is a good program to accomplish this (the cc must be embedded).  I tried Sorensen, but it just locks up. Any help is appreciated.

  • Embedding closed captions in MPEG

I've seen a few questions on this but still don't understand. I'm working with Premiere Pro CC on a Windows computer. I've been asked by a television broadcaster to submit closed captioned MPEG files for a 30 minute program I'm delivering. The station wants the caption files embedded in MPEG format which I understand Premiere Pro is not able to do. How can I convert the sidecar file and MP4 OR the mov file with embedded captions that I have created in Premiere into the format they require? This is pretty urgent so any CLEAR advice would be greatly appreciated

    Hello there,
I'm sorry this was not replied to sooner. At this time, Premiere Pro embeds closed caption streams (and services) to MOV and MXF files. There's no way right now to embed closed captions to MPEG2, at least with Premiere Pro.
I wish I could give you different news, but there it is.
    Regards,
    Chris

  • Closed Captioning with CS4 Premiere

    I need
to create closed captioning in CS 4 Premiere. But don't get confused with subtitles; I am talking about the cignal that is encoded on line 21 of whatever goes on air, and viewers can watch at home.
I used to do it in AVID using a simple software that created JPEGs, but it won't work with Premiere.
I greatly appreciate any info. Thank you.

Though for En CS5, this is the start:
    Closed captions basics
    About closed captions
Closed captions provide assistance for the hearing impaired. Through captioning, the audio portion of a program appears as text superimposed over the image. Closed captions include dialogue, as well as descriptions of sounds in the program. Only the NTSC television standard accepts closed captions; PAL does not.
You create closed captions using a third-party captioning application, exporting them as source safe format (SCC) files. You then reference the SCC files by assigning them to clips in a timeline, using the Video Clip Properties panel. Closed captions will synchronize with the source timecode of the video clips you assign them to.
Note: Closed captions are not supported for Blu-ray or Flash projects.
    Add closed captions to video
Closed captions that you add to your DVD project will only appear on the final DVD; they do not appear in Encore, in either the Monitor panel or Project Preview window.
1 In the Timeline Viewer, select the video clip to add closed captions to. If necessary, Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac OS) to select the video track separately from its audio track.
2 In the Video Clip Properties panel, click the Browse button for Field 1. Locate and select the SCC file that contains the closed captions, and then click Open.
Note: Moving the SCC file or the Encore project file will break the links to the closed captions. To reset the links, repeat these steps to select the video clip, click Browse in the Video Clip Properties panel, and reselect the SCC file.
That was from Page 149 in the CS5 PDF.
    Hope that helps,
    Hunt

  • In premiere pro creative cloud, can I export using closed captioning in HD and SD formatting?

Is it possible to export in HD and SD formatting using closed captioning? Reason for this question is, I'm about to create 48 half hour videos. 24 of them have to be in HD format and 24 of the others have to be in SD format using mp2 for airing on television. Will this work in closed captioning?

You will likely get better program help in a program forum
The Cloud forum is not about using individual programs
The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process
If you will start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says All communities) to open the drop down list and scroll

  • Closed captioning tutorial

Does anyone know a site that I can download a tutorial on closed captioning with media for DVD SP ether free or for a small price.
    Thanks
    Jeff

    http://www.cpcweb.com/tutorial/mac/DVDcaptions.mov
    that is the tutorial.
It's important to make sure the starting timecode of the SCC is the same as your source media. Also, it's important to match NDF and DF timecode to avoid drifting. It's not hit or miss it's just something that needs to be checked before importing the SCC file.
Go to your DVD Studio Pro Asset Bin and click on your video file that you will caption. Notice that if you click once on it the inspector reveals starting timecode information and drop frame vs. non-drop information. Once this has been noted then the user must proceed to match the SCC accordingly to correspond to this data.
CC1 is what must be primarily addressed and that goes on Field 1.
If your SCC doesn't match then you will need to ripple the timecode and possibly convert the timecode to DF or NDF with a product like MacCaption that has a standards converter for SCC files.
If your Asset video is a QuickTime DF timecode and not an MPEG2 Elementary stream then you should check your encoding settings in the DVD Studio Pro preferences and make sure that you don't convert DF timecode to NDF timecode during the encoding or background compression. This is key because your SCC could have been made with your original QuickTime DF timecode and then when it compresses to MPEG-2 before burning the DVD it now has NDF timecode so your captions will drift out of sync on long videos.

  • Changed apple password but in iphone still it shows wrong

i wants to erase data on my Iphone, but as i press the Erase all content in iphone for resetting, shows wrong password popup.
i already changed my password several times but i don know why in Iphone the new password is not valid.
    i need your support .

Just to confirm is it asking for passcode or Apple ID password?
If it is asking for the Apple ID password then you have Find My iPhone enabled in Settings>iCloud. Make sure the Apple ID is correct in Settings>iCloud and that you are providing the correct password for that Apple ID.

  • Closed captioning for video no longer works for iPhone 4 since iOS 5.0 update. Is there a fix for this?

Closed captioning while video-playing is one of the coolest features of iOS devices. But for my iPhone (and an iPad user elsewhere from the Net), ever since I updated to iOS 5, the closed captioning icon no longer appear amongst the list of icons when you play a video WITH a closed caption capability.
I have played videos with closed captions before prior to iOS updates and been having no problems till I tried with iOS 5.
I tried turning the setting on/off in the Videos Settings, tried deleting and re-adding the video to the phone and also rebooted the phone.
Hoped someone could find a fix for this. The community can try it on iOS 5 and see if it is also an issue for them since I haven't seen but rarely people having this issue i'm having.

My son has a similar problem since updating to the latest software on his iphone 4. He can make calls but the other person can't hear him. Facetime and Skype work fine - so it must be the lower microphone that is the problem. He's had it checked at the Apple store in Chiang Mai but they won't fix it - he has to get it back to the UK for service. It's 2 months over the warranty period but having checked around it seems this problem is widespread and Apple need to sort it fast!
I've updated mine and it's fine - but I'm gonna take out applecare before the warranty runs out as I'm not risking having a £495 phone that I can't use as a phone.
I was thinking of buying one for my wife this Xmas but no way whilst they are having so many problems.
COME ON APPLE - GET THIS FIXED WITH A NEW RELEASE ASAP!
