Closed captioning won't display in html/swf

I have embedded a swf file in html. The closed captioning displays when I view the .swf file and when I view the Flash published html. However, when I view the fully created Web page, the closed captioning won't display. Does anyone have any ideas?
Specs:
The video was created with Captivate 4, published as an .avi and then as an .f4v with Adobe Media Encoder CS4
The .f4v is imported into a Flash CS4 framework.
The closed captioning file was created with MAGpie and exported to a dfxp file.
The .swf file containing all of the necessary files above is embedded in a Web site created with Macromedia Dreamweaver 8.

Oddly enough, I played with the placement of the captioning file to get this to work. While all the other resource files associated with this project needed to remain in the original locations when I embedded my Flash within the html, this file needed to be in the same folder as the base html code for some reason. I hope this helps someone else down the road.

  • Server won't display flash html/swf files

    I have a set of html/swf files that are "set" exacly like a dozen other nearly identical files that are served correctly by a hosting site but this set only displays a Flash Player upgrade icon on Foxpro and a blank page on IE.  My client Flash Player is the latest and works fine for the other dozen nearly identical files.  Of course the initiating fla file displays correctly with CS5.5 Flash itself.
    I've run out of ideas about what causes the problem and how to fix it.  Any ideas please?

    Thanks for your response.  I've resolved the problem.  This one troublesome file was not "set exactly".  The Publish Settings "output file" field designated a non-existent folder that was a remnant of a deleted folder.  Flash did it's best to sensibly respond.

  • Captivate 7- The Closed Captioning does not display on the screen

    I am using Captivate 7 and I am concerned about the issue that the Closed Captioning, which is placed on the flash page and is supposed to display the introduction of our product with the caption, does not show up on the screen. It is confusing that the text of Closed Captioning shows normally on some of the computers in our company but fails to display on the others, no matter on IE 8 or 10. Due to the company policy and the product nature I won’t be able to make a snapshot. We have spent some time on this problem but failed to fix it. I am desperately looking forward to some solutions here. Thanks for any suggestion.
         The environment:
         Windows 7 Sp1
         Captivate 7
         IE 8 and IE 10
    Regards,
    Bill

    Try clearing out your project cache (Preferences > General > Clear Cache) then republish using the option to Force Republish All Slides.
    If that doesn't resolve the issue, you may be seeing the early stages of project file corruption.  Check the suggestions in this post about troubleshooting issues where you may need to copy all slides to a new blank project shell to try and strip out corruption:

  • Director mx 2004 won't display Flash 8 swf files & other Flash media

    I have created a Flash 8 Project which has audio, video (which are converted to swf files fom flvs), flashpaper.  This application is driven by XML.
    However  this application works fine outside director, but when I import the main swf file into director mx 2004 and RUN it, director won't display the videos (but I can hear the audio from the videos), Director wont show graphic images(eg menu icon movie buttons, and flash buttons). Also I can launch external files (eg text file) from flash, but again it won't work via director.
    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE
    I suggest there's no need to shout.
    Try linking the Director cast member to the external swf file instead of fully importing it. You also should have the 10.1.1 update in place - this is particularly important.

  • Closed captioning won't turn off

    I am watching numerous tv shows on my Apple TV 2 (fully updated), and all of a sudden now the TV  shows have closed captioning, even though closed captioning is turned off in settings. It also roughly every 2 minutes it pauses the TV show, even though the show has fully loaded, which is frustrating. Has anyone else had this problem before?
    Incase it makes a difference the Apple TV is connected via wifi.
    Thank you in advanced

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    I saw this problem reported here for the first time a day or two ago, the poster didn't provide any feedback on the suggestions given or whether they resolved the problem, so I'm not aware of any guaranteed fix.
    Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
    Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

  • Simulation-failure captions won't display

    The failure captions won't disply in a simulation, only the hint caption. I removed other interacitve buttons and it still doesn't work.

    I've created a simple project that recreates this issue, with hopes that someone here or someone from the Captivate team can take a look and see if I'm missing something, or acknowledge as a bug.
    http://www.eternal-visions.com/FailureCap.cptx.zip
    If you test the project, as is, the failure captions will not work.  If you uncheck the "remain on top" box of the smart shape button on slide 1.. failure caps return.  But, then the smart shape gets burried under other objects.
    Thanks for your time.

  • How to get embedded closed captioned videos to display captions in Acrobat?

    I created closed captioned QuickTime videos using Premiere Pro CC. I then place them in an an InDesign document and set the Media parameters to show the little captioning icon (SkinOverPlayCaption). When I export to an EPUB (Fixed Layout), Apple's iBook (Mac OS and iOS) have no trouble presenting the closed captions (**very very sweet**).
    **BUT** when I export as a PDF (Interactive),  I get the embedded video with a the little captioning icon on the controller, but when I play the video I can't seem to get the captions to appear (either embedded, floating window, or full screen).
    My client's Section 508 compliance officer isn't very happy. Can someone help me? Please?
    Thanks!

    Even after updating to v4.4, I still can't get closed captioning to work on Apple TV movies (not Netflix) I tried to press the up arrow button and then hold down the select button but I can only see the chapter list, not the cc menu. Closed captioning is enabled in the settings menu and the movies I rented all feature a cc option. Quite disappointing I would say and a big let down from Apple. This will make me think twice before renting any other movie.

  • Firefox won't display a html photo inside a frame.

    in facebook, it will not display an png or html file inside a a frame. it will show only a jpg

    Do you see that missing image in Tools > Page Info > Media?
    You can access Page Info via the right-click context menu on a web page and the Tools menu (Alt+T).
    Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the menu bar is hidden.

  • Creating Closed Captions that do NOT dissappear and finding an alternative

    Hi all!
    Does anybody know how to allow closed captions to continue displaying after the audio has ended on a slide in BOTH captivate 3 &/or 4? The text in the captions dissapear after the audio has completed.
    Also is there a way to modify/skin the caption box?
    The reason I'm asking is because of the way our projects are designed. We want the user to stay on the same slide until the forward button on the playbar has been clicked. This is easily done with having a "Pause project" click box on each slide.
    We used to have a text caption that's identical to the audio that stays on permanently on each slide but we want to move away from that.
    I have also tried to use buttons in captivate 4 to show/hide a text caption (with the name"bodyText"). I created 2 buttons to do this.
    The "Show Text" button has advanced actions to :-
    a) rdcmndPause = 1;
    b) Show the "bodyText" caption
    c) Show the "Hide Text" button
    d) Hide the "Show Text" button
    e) rdcmndPause = 1;
    The "Hide Text" button  does:-
    a) rdcmndPause = 1;
    b) Hide the "bodyText" caption
    c) Show the "Show Text" button
    d) Hide the "Hide Text" button
    e) rdcmndPause = 1;
    That works BUT clicking on the "Show Text" button plays the slide and ignores the following:-
    a) Multiple "Pause project" click box. These were placed before & after the button was paused on the timeline.
    b) _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;  swf's I've inserted. These were placed before & after the button was paused on the timeline as well.
    This is VERY annoying as the slide keeps playing and will eventually show the next slide. Which is NOT AT ALL what we want.
    Another method I have tried is to wrap the captivate file into a flash "loader". All this flash file is to do a Load Movie with the captivate into a target movieClip called "container".  With this "container", I've used an imported AS2 flash player 9 "hideText" swf  that has a "Show/Hide text" button in it:-
    All this "hideText" swf has on a single frame is:-
    textHidden=false;
    _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
    hideText.onRelease=function() {
        if (textHidden==false) {
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
        _parent.bodyText._visible = false;
        textHidden=true;
        } else {
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
        _parent.bodyText._visible = true;
    stop();
    also tried this first:-
    textHidden=false;
    _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
    hideText.onRelease=function() {
        if (textHidden==false) {
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.bodyText._visible = false;
        textHidden=true;
        } else {
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.bodyText._visible = true;
    stop();
    Both didn't work. Am I targeting the text caption incorrectly here?
    if anybody can spare some time, I need help to achieve a solution please?

    I also agree with your suggestions but posting them here on this forum is of very little use.

  • Adobe Captivate 7: Change font size of imported localized closed captions

    I'm attempting to use the export/import captions functionality in Captivate 7 and when I import the text, the imported Japanese characters are HUGE. The font in the imported Word doc aren't that big and I'm unsure how to adjust the imported closed captions to they display correctly. As you can see below, the characters are way too big. I've tried adjusting the font size in the CC Project Settings window, but no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

    Thank you for your helpful Adobe Captivate postings... Your material is better than Adobe's online help because you use visual screen shots and videos. Also you explain how to find comands in the Captivate menu.

  • When I open logic express 8 with eyetv open but not active and i close logic express 8 and make eyetv active it won't show closed captioning even though closed captioning is turned on

    when I open logic express 8 with eyetv open but not active and i close logic express 8 and make eyetv active eyetv won't show closed captioning even though closed captioning is turned on.  When I totally close eyetv and reopen eyetv and open a live tv window the closed captioning comes back.  I never noticed this with os leopard, Just after i installed os snow leopard.  All software is up to date only I think, thanks to apple they droped support for logic express.  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Does toggling CC off & back on bring it back?
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • SWF Won't Display in RoboHelp Project

    Hi,
    I have a RoboHelp 9 HTML project that has a number of SWF files embedded in a number of the pages. The problem is the SWF won't display on the HTML page. The SWF files are published to version 11.x. The HTML pages work fine on my computer but I have Robohelp and Flash Pro installed. When I take it to any other computer in my office, the HTML pages load with no problem but the SWF files will not load onto the pages. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    So you are saying that the SWF *WAS* actually displaying but was somehow unable to present the text?
    For others that may wonder about what TLF is (as I did) I'll save you the Google step.

  • Importing swf file with skin and closed captioning problems

    I created a flv file in Preimere and I pulled it into flash to create close captioning.  When I publish it, it creates a swf file that I can open up on its own and it has the skin with the button to push to show the closed caption.  When I try to bring that file into captivate, it doesnt bring in the skin and it just automatically shows the captions.  How do I get it to bring the skin in with it?

    Are you seeing this problem when you preview you project. or only after you publish it? If it is when you publish, is it in both the local version and/or in the web version?
    Also, which version of Flash Catalyst? 1.0 or 5.5.?
