Closed Connection Issues

We're having some issues with closed connection errors. Basically, if a user is idle long enough, if he clicks a button, then the results won't show and a closed connection error will be thrown. Frequently the user will have to re-enter information or it leads to some bad results. These tend to happen with views in particular.
So, any ideas? I'm new to JDeveloper and Oracle, so I'm not quite sure where to start or information I should provide. Our pages are running off of one virtual machine with the Oracle database on another virtual machine, both on the same physical machine.
A couple questions:
1) Does this have anything to do with Session timeout? We have ours set to 60 minutes. When I set it to 1 minute, it'll redirect to the login page at 1 minute. Odd... I just tested by idling on a page for 90 minutes, no redirect, no error thrown...
2) We have validate-connection set to true, but do not have validate-connection-query set. Is there a default value or will this stop the verification?
Thank you very much.
Here's our datasource information:
<data-sources xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oracleas/schema/data-sources-10_1.xsd" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oracleas/schema">

</data-sources>

Here's an example of the error:

Thank you. However, a new error has arisen.
I set session-timeout to 120 (should be minutes) and abandon-timeout to 0 (which should disable it) and I get an error exactly on the hour, regardless of what the abandon-timeout or session-timeout were.
Is there are particular I should be checking on the Oracle database side?

3.8.1 How to Configure WebSphere to Allow Reuse of Query Result Sets
WebSphere Application Server closes shared database connections between application generated requests. You need to set two properties in WebSphere to allow reuse of result sets.
Use the WebSphere Application Server administrative console to set the non-transactional datasource and DisableMultiThreadedServletConnectionMgmt properties.
To set properties in WebSphere to reuse results sets:
Start WebSphere Application Server administrative console.
Navigate to Data sources > DB2 Universal JDBC Driver XA DataSource > WebSphere Application Server data source properties and set Non-transactional data source to enabled.
    Save the configuration.
Navigate to Application servers > server_name > Web Container > Custom Properties and set DisableMultiThreadedServletConnectionMgmt to true.
    Save the configuration.
    Restart WebSphere Application Server.
Setting these two properties will enable your deployed application to reuse result sets across requests.

  • How can I circumvent this connection issue due to closed-lid mode?

I recently purchased a new Samsung monitor and have narrowed down the deficient connectivity to the fact that the Wi-Fi antennae is located at the "MacBook Pro" area of my computer's monitor. I own a late 2009, 2.26 GHz MacBook Pro connected to a 2011 AirPort Extreme Base Station. Resetting the router and searching for the ideal channel still keeps my connection at a slow crawl when the lid is closed. I'm posting this question to see if there any developments in solvin this connection issue and whether or not there is anything I can do before purchasing an external antennae. Any and all help and greatly appreciated!

I've had the same problem, everything was o.k. when lid is open but when I connect it to external monitor and close the lid, wifi signal is very week or there was no signal at all. I tried moving macbook all over the room and nothing helped, untill I tried to open the lid just a little so that macbook monitor stays off, immediately my wifi signal was normal again, strong as it is when I'm using it whit lid open.
I hope it will help you to.

  • Excel ODBC Connection Issues

I'm having some issues importing external data from an Oracle 9i database.
    Here is what is happening:
I am initially able to import data from the table I want to into Excel.
I do this through "Data -> Import External Data -> New Database Query" where I have my .ORA data source. I'm able to log in using my user and password and import the table. My problems come after I import this first set of data.
If I try to "Edit Query…" I get an error box that says "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed".
If I try to "Refresh Data" I get two error boxes. The first is just: "[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]" and the next says: "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed". It then prompts me for the User name and password of the DB I'm connecting and after I enter the information, I get the same two error messages.
Also, if I attempt to establish another connection following the "Data -> Import External Data…" steps I run into a different problem. Upon entering the information for the User Name and password prompt I get two error messages. One says "!" and the next box says "Couldn't read this file". Once I click "OK" in those boxes, the Microsoft Query window automatically opens with nothing in it.
I can't seem to figure out why I can initially pull down data and then cannot succeed afterwards. I'm unable to connect to the DB I have through Excel until I completely closed all Microsoft Excel instances.
I also use this data source in Microsoft Access without any problems.
    My Excel version is 2003.
I'm using Oracle Drivers I'm using are from an "Instant Client" package.
Any thoughts why I'm having these connections issues?
    Thanks in advance.

    This issue is closed.
    The solution was:
"Data -> Import External Data -> Import Data"
Select "New Source" and select the "Oracle" data source and filled in the appropriate information. This was similar to the database query but it actually works.

  • SQLException: Closed Connection, SQL state [null]; error code [17002]

    Hello All,
I am supporting a Java 5 project on Tomcat. We've used Spring and Stored Procedure in the project.
Recently we deployed our application in a GoLive environment and have started seeing Timeout errors in log files. After around two days we also have to restart Tomcat as users are no more able to login to access the application.
Same application runs fine without any timeout issues on another environment.
The only difference between two environments is that the Go-Live env has a firewall between Tomcat and Database and the other environment hosts both Tomcat and Database on same machine (i.e. no firewall).
For GoLive env the only port open on firewall for JDBC connection is 1521 and is used in the connection string url for obtaining the connections.
When there is a Timeout error, the N/w admin guy observed that the JDBC connection was not attempted on 1521 port, but on some random port which is not open on firewall, due to which the Database server logs also do not show entry for this connection attempt as it gets blocked by the firewall.
I am not sure why a randam port should be used to connect when a specific port is mentioned in the connection url? Also what can be making this port switching?
Application uses Apache DBCP with Spring to obtain connections.
    Has anyone experienced similar errors?
Any suggestions/help on this issue is greatly appreciated!
    Many Thanks,
    CD

The Game Center is "unable to load data due to network connectivity issues or errors".
My internet is fine: all other apps that do not rely on the Game Center work, as does my browser and other online functions; additionally, a friend's iPhone connects to his Game Center perfectly while he is sitting next to me.
Closing the Game Center app and then reopening it is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then logging back in, and then reopening the Game Center is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then reopening the Game Center app and logging back in from there is ineffective.
This issue has gone on for more than a month, and so the phone has gone through all variations of "turn it off then back on again, refresh the system, etc etc" that are the basic first suggestions for trouble shooting.
One game app, which required a Game Center profile to launch, stopped working entirely, and would return a message saying something like "connect to the Game Center". I eventually deleted it to free up space. Other games which can be linked to the Game Center to connect with friends simply fail to link, returning "Game Center unavailable". This is the aspect that is currently bothering me the most: I cannot play games with friends unless the app can also link to Facebook and connect to friends from there.
When I open the Game Center, I see the following screen. The bubbles float gently, and it seems as if I had the ability to update my "status". However doing so results in a message that has vanished once the app is reopened.
Upon tapping Games, either the bubble from the main screen or the option on the ribbon at the bottom, the following screen appears. Clicking on Challenges shows a message that achievements must be viewed to issue a challenge. Clicking achievements results in a message that games must be connected (and from my friend's phone I know I have several apps that should appear).
Upon tapping friends, it does show me a list of suggested friends pulled from Facebook, but attempting to send a friend request results in the following screen. After accepting the error box, the "send" button for the request is grayed out and unavailable regardless of adding or deleting friends and/or an accompanying message.
In short, the Game Center is completely unresponsive for no discernible reason, and this problem began with no warning and is now long term. Though my iPhone is older (a 4s), my friend's is even older (a regular 4) and works fine.

I am having the very same problem on my iPad running ios 7. All is fine on my iPhone it opens no problem - this is running on ios 8. I wish they would fix it.

Looking for someone to help me to solve this issue.Maybe you are closing the connections. You might want to verify that you are not doing that. Or if you are that that is the correct way to return the connection to the pool.
Or you could have stale connections. Some databases will time out connections if the connection is no used in a while. (This is a good thing.) But this means connection pools must do something with connections that are not used for a while. The pools usually have a configuration option(s) which allows you to set up a keep alive message which keeps the database from closing the connection.

  • CF 6.1 - JRUN Closed Connection/Server errors occurring on a daily basis

We seem to be having issues with Jrun Closed Connection/Server errors occuring on a daily basis now. The server will stop responding to requests until the ColdFusion service is restarted.
We're using CF 6.1, the following error message is from the log files and seems to be Java/JVM related but I was hesitant to make any changes to the JVM parameters.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this daily issue of restarting CF service? Other than upgrading to more recent version of CF which we'll be doing later this year.
    Thanks,
    Dave

I guess Java non heap space Permanent Generation is full the next object trying to load into that space can’t fit, plus all the objects in there are referenced so no objects can be removed so free space can’t be made available. One would need to do some work with Java logging and know what JVM.CONFIG looks like to know if that guess is accurate.
You could try increase that parameter 10Mb or so and see what happens? In JVM.CONFIG, JVM args, -XX:MaxPermSize=NNm where NN = numbers.
Needless to say you are running a lot of end of life product and should plan to migrate to something more current.
    HTH, Carl.

    Hi,
I understand that you have raised a SR for this issue which is being worked upon by our team.
Additionally, please note that the "Closed connection" error typically happens because a timeout parameter of some sort timed out the connection. This could be a parameter specified in your datasource, in your application code, or network (such as a firewall).
You may also want to -
    1.  check your database to be sure it is not timing out connections.
    2.  Make sure your network is running efficiently and that it can provide fast connections,
    3. Check your Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Code Cache For Oracle Enterprise Data Quality for any memory related issues
    Thanks,
    Shwet

  • JDBC "Closed Connection" Problem

    Hi All,
I have a 903 BC4J application that has starting getting "JBO-30003: The application pool (P3iDdmModuleLocal) failed to checkout an application module due to the following exception: oracle.jbo.DMLException: JBO-26066: Error during rollback."
The root cause, however, is "java.sql.SQLException: Closed Connection". Under what circumstances would this occur? The 9i db is not configured with a timeout and, therefore, should not be closing connections at that end.
Shouldn't the connection pool manager capture invalid connections in the pool before the AppMod issues this message?
How can I recover from this error?
    All help much appreciated! Thanks!
    Paul

  • Connectivity Issues Cisco ASA 5515 in Transparent Mode

    Hi,
we´re having problems with one transparent mode setup at one customer site. The ASA is equiped with a CX Module, but we´re not using it, so far in the service policy rules it was enabled and matched all traffic, but in "monitor only" mode. There is a global acl that allows any-any-IP.
    Firewall-Info:
    - ASA Version 9.1(2)
    - Interfaces gi0/0 + gi0/2 without any interface errors
The ASA 5515x is configured as a "bump in the wire". In general our setup is working but with beginning of the installation of the firewall the customer faces following connection issues, without the firewall no problems:
    - Connections to SAP-Servers behind the MPLS begin to drop, affected all users
    - Incoming monitoring sessions (ping/snmp) from central management are facing ping timeouts, connection timeouts
    - http downloads are stopping, Customer: it will stop responding and the download will fail.
In general the customer describes it this way: "We do not have the best connection here so once we connected the firewall all the problems are magnified"
I recognized, that we unconfigured the default inspection during initial setup and reconfigured this entry for the cx module. So the the default inspection with all the settings are not present any more... How important are these settings? One phenomen is, that I´ve seen a large numbers of concurrent connections that increased over time. And we already had that situation, that the firewall reached the max-conn count.
Should I try to reconfigure the default inspection, as it ships from factory? And whats the best way to check for problems? What can be the reason for the dropping connections?
I attached a network plan and the firewall config, hopefully, that somebody has an idea. Of course I can provide additional information...
    Best Regards
    Sebastian

    Hi Vibhor,
thanks for your reply. Does this also affect the traffic, even the setting is set to "Monitor Only" ?
Is it recommend to configure the default-inspection rule as a default setting?
Further Question: I´ve read sth. about, that service policy rules must be "reloaded" to take effect, after they have been changed. Is that right and how do I reload them?
Here is an output from sh asp drop, do I have to care about certain values? This values result from two connected users doing some downloads over a 2Mbit connection.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Closed Connection from Custom Identity Service

    Hi,
Here is an issue I am trying to resolve:
    Platform: Oracle BPEL 10.1.2
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 4)
Please note that the whole thing has been working in other same type of installations (e.g. RedHat, Windows, Developer BPEL on Windows & Linux) but this seems to be something special on this server. Any help will be appreciated:
This actually work for sometime (2-3 hours) and then suddenly stops working even if we don't do any transaction on it.

I have my application jar on the server, and launch this JFrame application from the browser. ><zen question>
Which particular 'the browser'? What version of what browser running on what OS?
    </zen question>
The reason I ask is that it is up to the browser to call an applet's stop()/destroy() methods and if they do not do so - there is almost nothing we as developers can do about it.
If you need such reliable shut down behaviour, it would be best to launch the applet or frame using Java Web Start.

  • Got "closed connection" via OEM 10.1.0.2.0

    Hello,
    please help.....
I installed OEM version 10.1.0.2.0 on windows 2000 PC. All the database instances are displayed under Network Navigator. when i log on to the database either as normal / sysoper /sysdba, I got "closed connection" error right after clicked OK on the login window.
can anyone give me suggestion/ references to this issue?
    many thanks.

Check firewall configurations on the PC to see if it is blocking the Listener port 1521. Also check the setting of SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = in $ORAACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora

  • Client closed connection before receiving the entire response

Hi I am using URLFilePromise to download a zip file from my server to desktop using an air app. The zip file is about 200MB, but after it reaches downloading about 7 MB , urlFilePromise is dispatching complete event. I could see the following error message in charles debugging proxy saying "Client closed connection before receiving the entire response". I have tried the same download url in the browser and it works fine. Please suggest me, What causes this issue??, how to resolve this??
I am using http protocol to download this file.

Even i tried setting URLRequestDefaults.idleTimeout property, but didn't help.
