Closing a Captivate course in Firefox

Happy Friday everyone...
Okay, here goes...I have courses that have been published to
Cornerstone (LMS). I believe that they were published with the full
screen option selected. Anyway, the designer didn't include the
exit option on the playback controller. When the courses are
launched, there is no way to exit the course. Does anyone know if
there is a short key combination that can be used on a Linux
operating system with Firefox browser to close a window? I tried
using ctrl+shift+w and it wouldn't work.
Thanks,

This list of keyboard shortcuts should help:-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_keyboard_shortcuts#Desktop_shortcuts
Looks like Alt+F4 does it, same as in Windows.

  • I cannot open Firefox so decided to try and uninstall and reinstall, when the uninstall or install wizard starts I keep getting "Firefox must be closed to proceed, please close Firefox to continue" but i do not have Firefox open at all.

Originally I was having a problem with Firefox locking up everytime I went to a website and tried to X out of it, there would be no response. Or the little box would come up with the question on whether i wanted to Quit or close tabs, I would make my choice but nothing would happen. Then yesterday I couldnt open Firefox at all, so I tried to uninstall and also reinstall but keep getting the error message "Firefox must be closed to proceed, please close Firefox" But i do not have it running anywhere, it does show in my downloaded programes, but I cant do anything with it. I am running Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron

  • Setting track for a captivate course

Does anyone know if you can set up "tracks" for a captivate course in the LMS.
I have a course with a lesson that is only applicable to certain group of learners and we dont want the rest of the company to view that information.
Our LMS does have the capability to set up tracks for courses created directly in the LMS system, but I originally created the course using captivate instead.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If it is critical that one role does NOT see what the other role should see (e.g. for security reasons) then you need to have three separate versions of the course and set up your LMS to determine which role the person belongs to so that the only choice they get is the one appropriate for them.  Most LMSs allow you to configure role-based learning this way.  You add people to the roles set up in the LMS and that controls the learning options they see.
Doing what I suggested in Captivate is really just a way to have slightly personalised content for different roles inside the same project file.  But the downside is that when you get to the quiz, everyone has to do the same questions, otherwise your quiz score can never be 100%.  Then you'd need to resort to using a target for points scored instead of a percentage out of 100.

  • Can I upload a Captivate course to Connect AFTER embedding Edge animations through App Packager?

I would like to include animations I've created in Edge Animate and the App Packager makes this pretty easy. However, afterward I have an HTML course that I can't seem to upload to Connect. When I ZIP it up I'm told by Connect that it's an invalid format. Also, when I export a Captivate course as a zipped HTML course, uploading it to Connect works, but the spinning loader shows indefinitely.

So in case anyone comes across this post with the same question, I found out a way to sort of do this. I still couldn't figure out how to upload the ZIP to Connect properly, but I was able to use the Web Object Interaction and load up the HTML output of Edge Animate. It's just a folder with a bunch of files and an index file. All you do is choose the top-level folder, resize your interaction to fit, and everything works out well! No need to use the App Pakcager, and animations can be inserted any time while you're creating your project.

  • Remove imsmanifest catalog tag text 'Adobe Captivate Course'

    Greetings,
After I've using elearning suite 6's multi-scorm packager (would love for this to be a part of basic Cp6, nuther topic),
I see that in the imsmanifest for the root folder (zipped) there is a <catalog> tag with the text 'Adobe Captivate Course'. Please see pic.
I don't remember seeing an opportunity to edit out this text and replace with a more accurate description. Of course I can edit it out of the imsmanifest.xml file, but I'd rather see where this can be removed/edited up front.
Can someone explain what I'm missing or why this is happening?
    Much Thanks,
    k

    Hi
Can you please forward the file, or share it in a shared location, so that we can look into the issue?\
    Thanks,

  • Closing a pop-up causes Firefox to prompt me to save my tabs.

When browsing any website that has pop-ups as part of its design (for example, clicking on an image thumbnail on eBay causes a larger version to be shown in a new window), closing the pop-up causes Firefox to prompt me with, "Do you want Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts?" even though I'm only trying to close that single pop-up window and not all of my tabs.

It seems that Microsoft's HTML5 video plugin was the culprit, or at least contributed to it. I will update with more information if needed. Otherwise, this issue is solved.

  • Audio Buffering Issue Whwn Closing a Captivate Window

I am launching a Captivate demo in a new browser window from
    an eLearning course.
The demos\ contains audio. If I close the Captivate window
and return to the eLearning course, the audio from the closed
Captvate window continues to play. I am using button options to
close the Captivate window and to "stop adudio when clicked."
Any ideas why the audio continues to play even though the
    Captivate window was closed?

Hi spitvalve and welcome to the community
Just thinking about this from a logistics perspective, the
only thing that would make sense here would be if you used the
"full screen" option, clicked the link, then closed the page the
link was clicked from. This would leave the Captivate window open
    and still loading up.
Beyond that, I'm a bit stumped... Rick

  • When closing any single tab exits firefox entirely why? just started happing

Just rebooted system (Windows PC) on return from holiday.
When closing ant tab instead of that single tab being closed, Firefox closes completely even though I have not touched the main "X" how can I reset or resolve this issue?
    Rich.

< (1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste "tabs" and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab preference to switch its value from true to false.
Press Ctrl+n to open a new tab, then Ctrl+w to close the tab. Helpful? >

  • How can I login to an online course using firefox?

I have a Mac OS X, version 10.6.4. I installed the mozilla firefox browser to enable to follow online courses. When I try to login, it says that my browser is unable to read their password or something like that. Whatever. I cannot get in.
    == This happened ==
    Just once or twice
== I tried to take the online course.

Chris, thank you for responding. I am, totally, computer illiterate. I just want to begin my onlines courses and I do not know how to activate my browser in order to login to the online course. I thought all of this was automatic. I know the Mozilla Firefox functions, but I can't login so I think it is something simple that I do not know to do.

  • Is there a way to excerpt all texts from the captivate course?

Hi all, can someone tell me whether there is a way to excerpt all texts from a captivate file? We need to convert all the texts on the screen to audio and insert the audio into each slide... Thank you for any inputs.

    Hi there
Try clicking File > Export > Project Captions and Closed Captions. That should produce a Microsoft Word document.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Though installed firefox 10.0, I recently have the application updater.exe running as soon as firefox is launched. The problem disappears when forcefully closing updater.exe, then also firefox calms down. How to avoid this problem?

It consumes 30% of cpu and takes with it firefox, together consuming more than half of CPU and going on >1/2h.
This is a new phenomenon which slows down all other activity on my computer.

After updating to version 10 I closed Firefox.
I noticed that there was a lot of CPU activity.
Checked Task Manager and noticed that in Processes, firefox.exe and plug-in container were running. Opened Firefox and closed again but the processes were still running in TM.
Highlighted firefox.exe in TM and clicked End Process. Both processes disappeared from TM.
Have opened and closed FF a couple of times since with no problem.
However, the OP seems to indicate that this is a problem that re-occurs.
Why is FF not shutting down properly? Is it possibly something to do with the automatic check for add in/extension updates?

  • Creating a Search form for Captivate courses

I've been asked to create a search form for our online courses. We do not use the TOC in our courses so the Find field in the TOC is not an option. Here are the ideas I've had so far:
    a Javascript-powered form search
    a search form widget
a Google search embedded into the surrounding HTML page (But I don't think that Google can "see" text inside the Captivate SWF object...)
Right now, we are using Captivate 5.5, but do plan to move to Captivate 6.0 fairly soon. I'm grateful for any ideas.
    Thanks!
    Peter

You're hitting a bug. See ADF Faces Classical Search Form works only with Entity base VO  in JDev 11? for a workaround suggestion.

  • Who has successfully created a SCORM compliant captivate course with AS3?

    Hi Everyone,
I would really like to know your experiences with publishing courses using the AS3 settings...
Have your courses successfully been published and used on an LMS?
Is the tracking working for you?
If yes, what settings do you use? (besides the AS3 and flashplayer 9 or 10)
How did you start the file, e.g. using a project or design template, or from scratch?
You would help me a great deal by sharing your experience with this!
    Thanks a lot!
    Greetings from the Bahamas

I am having a similar issue. I took the update earlier this week and it seemed to be working until a user fails the quiz and exits the course. When they return to the course it sticks on the grey loading screen - infinitely.
Any suggestions would be most helpful!
    We are using IE7

  • IE works fine with iTunes U, but if I try to load any section of iTunes U courses with Firefox, I always get an error message.

The error message always takes the following form (the particulars at the end differ for each university offering iTunes U courses):
Firefox can't find the file at itms://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Browse/berkeley.edu?ignore.mscache=3228344.

unfortunately the fiddler2 issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

  • Closed Two Separate Instances of Firefox - Open Tabs and All Groups Lost

I had two instances of Firefox 16.0.2 open and closed both with the "X" box at the top of the window and shut down windows. When I opened Windows XP this morning I came up with only one of the two Firefox sessions with the tabs restored and lost all the groups I had created over the last year.
The original groups are important to me, the tabs less so.
I was able to recover previous versions of sessionstore.js from the profile directory for Firefox and have the several days prior of them.
I saw in other postings of similar nature that the information is in the sessionstore.bak or a previous deleted sessionstore.js. I've attempted to figure out the procedure for running scripts but I don't think I'm getting it. When I open sessionstore.bak in notepad I can see the links that were in the groups that I'd like back.
    My questions are:
1). Can & how do I restore the groups? (I'm not understanding the procedures I saw in: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=10768811&start=45)
2). Are the tabs gone? How do I restore them?
3). Is having two open Firefox windows a no-no for keeping groups and tabs remembered?
4). How do you backup groups so if things go south you can recover easily?
5). How many tabs can you safely have open in Firefox?
6). Any other hints or procedures I should know about.
    Thanks!
    Ron

Did you check if there are entries in History > Recently Closed Windows ?
App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder, so if you have a backup copy of a sessionstore.js that has those tabs then you need to check that.
If you close a window via the close X on the title bar then you only close that window and all pinned tabs and tab groups that you created in that window will be gone (each window has their own tab groups and pinned tabs).
Use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar to make sure that you do not lose tab groups.
