Cloud icon in library

Recently I've discovered several dozen tracks in my itunes library with a cloud icon beside them.  I never bought or downloaded these tracks.  Where did they come from and do I now own them?

That makes sense and that's what I thought at first glance but when I looked at the tracks I didn't recognize them.  I really don't think I ever bought or downloaded them.  And why would so few of my tracks be in the cloud?
And what does this message mean:
"Adding icloud items to your playlist will download a copy to your computer?"  If I'd downloaded them previously why wouldn't they still be on my computer
Thanks

  • ITunes library grayed out all the time- in between songs played. Must click on cloud icon and wait between each song played.

Whenever I invoke iTunes (doesn't matter if I'm opening the program or simply undocking it), my library is gray, and the little "cloud icon" next to "Music" has a horizontal lightning bolt in it.
If I click on the cloud icon with the bolt (which doesnt respond consistently, somtimes takes 3 or more clicks) it will change to animated diagonal stripes. When this is finished (takes 10 seconds to 10 minutes), I have access to my library.
Sometimes it lets me get through an album before the process restarts. Sometimes I have to go through this between each song. Generally, I perform the process for the first two songs, and then it will play the rest of the album uninterrupted.
Internet connection is always fine, I have confirmed in several instances.
I have added screen shots below... I couldn't add the "working library" step, because as of writing this, I can't get past step 2. So no music for me this morning.
BELOW: Greyed out library, step 1
BELOW: Animated striped icon, library still greyed out, step 2

Thanks for the reply. Did this just now, and no change.
FYI- I have deauthorized and reauthorized, signed out of my iTunes account, deleted pLists, etc before posting here. None of which affected the problem.

  • My music is in the cloud, but it's also on my hard drive.  Why does it all show with the cloud icon?  Anyway to force the iTunes client to recognize that all of the music is already in my iTunes library folder?

Recently moved to a new PC.  Upon installing iTunes, in the Settings dialogue, I've indicated where my iTunes library is stored.  And yet, all of my albums in iTunes are showing up with the "cloud" icon, meaning that the client doesn't realize there is a local copy.  Clicking the "cloud" icon ends up downloading a duplicate copy of the song/album.
Any suggestions for how to fix this...so that my iTunes client knows all of this music is on my hard drive (in addition to being in the cloud)?
    Thanks!

  • Little cloud icon in my music library in ios7.

Little cloud icon in my music library after downloading ios7. What am I actually doing when I click on the cloud?

With ios 7 there is a new feature that shows you all the music you purchased with your apple id.  You can disable this by going to settings/music/show all-off.  Also this helps with saving data usage if you do not have unlimited data.

  • I keep losing the cloud icon from the library menu.

I keep losing the cloud icon, and the photos i downloaded from the cloud, from the iphoto library menu. It was there and now its not. Second time. FIrst time i deleted iphoto and re-downloaded from the app store. iCloud works with my other machines and was working fine on this one. It is enabled in iphoto preferences, and i checked icloud preferences in the sys pref pane and all seems well. Any suggestions?

It will open Go to folder window, type  exactly ~/Library and click on Go

  • TS4124 is there a fee for downloading music with cloud icons

Due to a drive failure, I had to reconstruct my iTunes library from a back up.  When I did this, I also upgraded to iTunes 11.0.1 (12) and discovered hundreds of tracks with cloud icons, some I had purchased, some I don't remember ever purchasing.  Because ONE album with a cloud was one I'd purchased from iTunes a couple of days prior, I assumed that these were all free-access - that is, I have rights to download.
I started clicking on the hundreds of cloud icons and the downloading began flooding through.
Is there a fee for downloading?  I didn't see any new fees in my account, but those things can take days.  There was not prompt asking "if I wanted to purchase".

You can download all your music purchased in iTunes as many times as you want free or charge

  • Why do I get the message: additional fees may apply when downloading songs over cellular in my itunes on my iphone 5? Plus I see the cloud icon that is either greyed out or red

I uploaded my old songs on my computer then I tried to sync them in my iphone's music library and I can't listen to the previously purchased songs... They either appear red with the cloud icon or greyed out... And I get the following message when I tap on them: additional fees may apply when downloading songs over cellular
    Anyone can help?

Un-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

  • Cloud icon showing up but song is on my hard drive, why ?

I have iTunes12 running on an iMac.
I have several songs in my library that are displayed with a cloud icon next to them when in fact they are located only hard drive - why ?
This was discovered when i was trying to drag-and-drop some songs from my library onto an iPod - when i tried, a message popped up and said the song was only available in iCloud and that I must download it before I can copy it to my iPod !?!?!
    2 questions :
[1] The song already exists locally on my hard drive - how do i correct this ?
[2] To correct the issue for my entire library, is there a way to "re-index" my current hard-drive iTunes library to get rid of this issue for all the songs that have clouds next to them ?
    Thx,
    BobZ

    Hello BobZ_annapolis,
It sounds like you have verified that these files exist currently on your HDD, but in iTunes they still prompt to download them. From what you describe it sounds like iTunes may be opening a blank library, rather than a folder with your library in it. You can use these steps to point your iTunes library to the folder with your media in it with this article:
iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • I cannot download any tracks from the cloud in my library.

In my library, whenever I click on a cloud icon with a downward pointing arrow, nothing happens.  This is to say I can't download any tracks with the icon adjacent to the track name.  Any ideas?

What problem you are facing? any error message.
    What operating system?

  • Why my creative cloud icon disappear and stopped working when downloading software?

Why my creative cloud icon disappear and stopped working when downloading software?

You can try this step :
    Rename the opm.db file.
Close the Creative Cloud application if it's running.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder
Rename the opm.db file to opm_old.db
    Launch Creative Cloud

  • Book will not download, stuck in purchased section with cloud icon next to it

I have tried every work-around i have seen in the support forum.
Latest version of itunes, ibooks, and ipad os.
I have signed out of itunes, quit ibooks, signed back in, deleted ibooks, redownloaded, and tried everything.
My book appears in the purchased section, with a cloud icon next to it, when I click it, it says "when your item is finished downloading, it will be available in your library"
No matter what I do, the book appears with that icon. I delete it from my devices, go back to the ibook store, search for it, and it appears again in the store with the cloud icon next to it, with the same message as before.
I have tried downloading a free book to try and get it unstuck, but that doesnt work.  I have tried syncing my ipad and downloading the book from my computer through itunes but it appears again on my computer with the cloud icon, and the same message.
    thanks

I was able to get rid of the duplicate iCloud designated files by unchecking the box at: Preferences->Store->Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
Funny, but I did not mess with that setting, or any other setting for that matter prior to this issue. Also, it doesn't make sense that every purchase I ever made would be shown as needing to be downloaded, as the downloaded file already exists in my library. If you read the description for this item, it states:
Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases
Display items purchased from the iTunes Store that haven’t been downloaded to your computer. These items have a Download button next to them.
So what gives? This would be a nice feature if it wasn't flagging my entire collection of downloaded songs...

  • ITunes in the cloud icon no longer visible

It seems that I am no longer able to view my previous purchases in the cloud. When I first downloaded iTunes 11, the small cloud icon was visible beside the pull down tab for my library. Now it's completely gone. How can I get it back so that I can access iTunes in the cloud?

Thanks for your reply, but it seems that there's no option for it. Here's a screenshot:

  • I have downloaded creative cloud but I do not have the creative cloud icon on my computer?

I have a membership to Adobe and have access to all the CC programs through the Icon "Adobe Application Manager". But I do not have a Creative Cloud icon in my applications? I also cannot sync fonts from Typekit as it says "Desktop font sync is not available on this operating system or device". When I click on the "learn more" it says the program only runs on "OS X 10.7 and higher", even though my computer is up to date. I can access all my creative cloud programs,  Photoshop / Illustrator / Indesign etc... Which confuses me as to why it is saying I cannot sync fonts as Typekit/Creative Cloud will not operate on any systerm lower then OS X 10.7..
    Ahg, confused. Help!
