Cloud storage on multiple devices

Hello, I've been pretty satisfied with Apple, EXCEPT when it comes to cloud storage.
I have three devices:
iPad Retina
My 6 year old daughter has my iPAd 2
and my iPhone.
all devices are under the same account, but every day I get a message stating that my storage is full. and I would need to purchase more storage.
Why doesnt Apple reward or atleast ackkowlege that people with more devices get more free storage???
it used to be that the photos didnt count against you, now it seems that it does.
Very frustrating especially knowing that I cn get 25gigs free from Skydrive.
Any thoughts?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
iCloud space is calculated per account not per device. It's not necessary to use any more space because you have 3 devices than it is if you had one.
Photos don't count towards space used, that hasn't changed.
Sky drive is a completely different type of service, it's not really comparable.

iCloud is by Apple ID. I have 3 devices on the same Apple ID account.

  • Creative Cloud storage on mobile device?

Is it possible to view/access files from your creative cloud storage on a mobile device i.e. smartphone, tablet? If so how do you do it?

    houbly14,
Yes it is. You need to simply login to CC website from any of the browser present on your device.
    Hope that helps!

  • HT4847 is there a unified way to manage iCloud storage for multiple devices

i have multiple idevices and the same account being used across multiple of these devices. I want to manage my storage from a central place. is this possible.

delete content in iCloud from devices with out physically accessing the devices. I want to get a global view of which device is using what aspect of cloud and if possible, clean up the photo stream on the cloud itself and push it to all devices.

  • Can I use my Creative cloud subscription on multiple devices?

Hi, I am going to be subscribing to Creative Cloud but can I use that subscription on more than one device?
I sometimes use my desktop, sometimes my laptop or tablet etc.  Will my Cloud subscription allow my to use the software on all my devices?
Or is it a single device use only?
    Many thanks,
    Peter.

A Cloud subscription allows you to have two working installations at a time.  You can sign out and sign in to enable other devices but the limit of two remains in force.  Whether or not you can install on all devices depends on whether or not the devices meets the system requirements for the software.

  • Why do we not receive 5 gb of free cloud storage space for the multiple Apple devices my wife and I have purchased?

Why do we not receive 5 gb of free cloud storage space for the multiple Apple devices my wife and I have purchased?  Seems only fair.

logical. fair. I can understand the confusion in policy  as another fine cloud service - DropBox - has a different model for increases in free storage amounts for one account = evangelism. As many policies as there are services probably.

  • I have multiple devices on the same account, can I increase my cloud allowance without paying extra?

Each device gives 5gig but multiple devices on the same account don't increase the cloud space. Do Apple recognise this and help?

Wow that's really harsh. Both my wife and daughter have disabilities and the idea of having one ID is to allow me to be able to track them quickly in times of emergency through 'find my iphone'. I did not realise this was 'creating a mess'.  I thought support communities were intended to, you know, support people with genuine questions like mine not to rush to criticism. Unfortunately both answers to my question have been negative.
I am not being harsh, the truth is you are really creating problems for yourself e.g. calendars, contacts, etc. are all mixed up.
Support Communities are there to show you how to use the devices as intended, the "criticism" is about how you use the devices and not about you as a person. We are trying to help if you can listen.
You can use Find My Friends instead of Find My iPhone for your purpose.

  • Is Creative Cloud storage a good solution if multiple people have to work on a file?

I am trying to use Creative Cloud storage so that, for instance, a colleague can open an inDesign file from their own workstation, make some simple text edits, and re-save it.
If everyone involved has desktop syncing, is this a workable way to use Creative Cloud Storage? Does syncing work so that the Could Storage would update my local version? Or would I have to download the latest version each time, then work on it, then re-sync?
If this isn't a good way to go about things, does anyone have a better suggestion?
    Thank you.

    Hi Callofthegame,
One could share a file with others, but each user would have their own copy for their account (which they could in turn share back to others if they wanted). So it wouldn't be a single instance of the file being edited by multiple individuals. Adobe Drive might be closer to what you are looking for - http://www.adobe.com/products/adobedrive.html?promoid=JIKTG
    Hope that helps,

  • Storage for web apps/cloud services in multiple datacenters

    Hi all;
We're setting up our system so we have stage & production in a U.S. datacenter and production is EU & S/Pore datacenters. In this case do we have to have a distinctly named storage account for each of these locations?
And if we do have a distinct storage account for each datacenter, what is the downside to Locally Redundant Storage? If the datacenter goes down yes the storage is unavailable. But the web & cloud servers that hit it are down too so is there and negative?
    thanks - dave

Made the world's coolest reporting & docgen system even more amazing

    Hi dave,
    >>In this case do we have to have a distinctly named storage account for each of these locations?
You could use one storage account, but you may need spend on the data transfer across data center, see the price page:
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/data-transfers/ . I suggest you can use different storage account for different locations.
    >>And if we do have a distinct storage account for each datacenter, what is the downside to Locally Redundant >>Storage? If the datacenter goes down yes the storage is unavailable. But the web & cloud servers that hit it are >>down
too so is there and negative?
For this issue, Locally redundant storage stores multiple copies of your data synchronously within a region for durability. But all copies is in one region. In other words, LRS could replicated the data copied in one data center.  If the datacenter
or storage is unavailable, I think it may be downgrade the performance. If you are worry about Azure storage data, I suggest you could consider the geo replication. GRS's secondary locations is in other datacenters.( see this blog
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windowsazurestorage/archive/2013/12/04/introducing-read-access-geo-replicated-storage-ra-grs-for-windows-azure-storage.aspx#_Locally_Redundant_Storage ).
Also, Azure guarantee storage read/write at least 99.9% of the time,we will successfully process requests to handle data from Locally Redundant Storage (LRS), Zone Redundant Storage (ZRS), and Geo Redundant Storage (GRS) Accounts and Read Access-Geo
Redundant Storage (RA-GRS). Please see this (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/legal/sla/ ).

    Hello eagjdw
You can keep the one Apple ID for purchases and then create another one for a personal account for contacts and calendars. The article below will assist further

    As quicksilver8 says, that's difficult.

  • Can I have one cloud for my family with multiple devices and apple ids?

I need to know the best way to link multiple devices with different apple ids to the same iCloud to share iTunes and content.

    My iphone 5s = apple id 1
    Husband iphone 4s = apple id 2
My ipad = apple id 3
Son #1 ipad mini = apple id 4
Son #2 ipad mini = apple id 5
For iCloud.. Not quite, you want the same ID for iCloud on your phone and iPad so you have the same info on each. (so perhaps ID 1 on both.
But if you want to share your music (assuming lets say its your ID 1 that has the iTunes account), you should all use ID 1 for iTunes.

  • TS4009 If I have multiple devices why do I still only have 5 gigs of iCloud storage between them? Should I get 5 with every device I own?

Should i have five gigs of iCloud storage for every device I buy if they are put on the same apple I'd?

Never mind, I got my bull crap answer. You would think the the money spent on these things, apple would give more space for more devices. I mean, that would seem to me like natural law!

  • Sync multiple devices owned by other family members to one iTunes account

I am wondering if it is OK since we have one imac computer running iTunes in the house, but I have an iphone and ipad, my son has an iphone, my daughter has and ipod, and my wife has an iphone, if it is OK to be syncing all of our devices under MY login in iTunes.  Or should I log out of iTunes and have that particular person log in to iTunes each time we sync?  Not sure how that would work though when each device is set up to sync over wifi if I stay logged in on the computer and in iTunes.  I just hate to see all the apps in the apps section of the iTunes/Devices/Sync Apps.  Not a problem though since it does keep them seperate...most of the time.  I mean, it seems as though a few times I have hooked up a device and it corrupted my sync causing all my newly synced devices to change the apps.  Only happened a few times.  This is kind of vague info, but it hasn't happened only a few times and I don't know how better to explain it.  The main question here is as stated in the beginning.
Also, on a seperate note that I'll rant about in a seperate listing, I really hate the fact that I have to login into iTunes with a third party (Gmail) email address.  I converted over from a PC and from Google Android to a Mac and iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple TV....and I have set up everyone with @me.com addresses, but we can't login to iTunes/Apple ID with them.

That doesnt apply very well. Everyone in my family has a separate account. Although for the main home sharing and apple tv it is off my account. I suppose that it is a good thing that we use one pc since everything stored on the hard rive that I sync to iTunes is then available for any user to sync to there device. Ie; home videos, movies ripped from DVD, CDs, etc...plus I have one original,iPod touch with no cloud support. I just synced it to my itunes on our one pc and it transferred to my pc over 640 purchases. Albeit they were all free, but now I have to sift through them all in the iTunes/devices/sync apps screen. Oh well. It actually seems as though the way I'm doing it is the best for my family of six with many multiple devices and im sure more to come in time. Again I can always sign out and let someone else sign into iTunes. A plus this way since still all my media is on my pc and network storage drive.
