CloudControl 12c shows "Agent Unreachable" for Cluster Database
Hello ,
when clicking on "Targets -> Databases" our RAC database shows up as follows:
Name Type Status
PROD02 Cluster Database symbol for "Agent Unreachable"
PROD021 Database Instance symbol "green arrow" for "Up"
PROD022 Database Instance symbol "green arrow" for "Up"
I don't understand why the symbol for the Cluster Database is not a green arrow, too. The agent on each node is up and running - and when either clicking on "PROD02" or "PROD021" (or PROD022) Cloud Control offers the full functionality. Therefore the status "Agent Unreachable" is missleading (from my point of view). I don't want to remove the complete Cluster Database and discover it once again - several jobs have already been defined and I don't want to do that once again.
Did anybody else experience the same behaviour?
Any help will get appreciated...
Rgds

MAy I know why grid is showing hte agent is not reachable even thought the agent is running and can talk to OMS:
The following is the output from the agent installation machine:

CloudControl 12c: deploy Agent 12c on RAC via RPM?
Hello ,
I've just installed the CloudControl 12c and I'm pretty astonished about the new look and feel of the GUI (compared to GridControl 10g) :-)
Installing the agent on hosts using the RPM-package is rather easy. But I'm not sure how to install the agent on hosts which are used by a RAC database
(and haven't found anything in the documentation so far). Would it be correct to install the agent - using the RPM-method - on every node of the RAC?
When installing agent 10g there was the option "install agent for RAC/Cluster install".
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
Rgds
JHAfter adding the hosts you will also need to add the cluster targets. You can after you have deployed your agents by navigating to Setup | Add Targets | Add Targets Manually and then choosing "Oracle Cluster and High Availability Service".
When prompted for a Cluster Target Host, enter one of your RAC hosts. -
EM Cloud 12c Management Agent Software for linux x86
Hello folks
I need to acquire Management Agent Software for linux x86 using offline mode. I followed steps described in online documentation of Oracle Cloud Control 12c, section "4.2.3.2 Acquiring Management Agent Software in Offline Mode"
I downloaded the catalog file p9348486_112000_Generic.zip, but when I executed import_update_catalog as follow:
/em12c/oms12cr3/oms/bin/emcli import_update_catalog -file=/app/em12c/swlib/p9348486_112000_Generic.zip -omslocal
this error apears:
"Internal error while validating catalog file format: error in opening zip file"
thanks in advance--> $/AGENT_INST/bin/emctl stop agent
If agent does not shutdown gracefully then kill all agent background processes by first grepping for agent perl and java processes only
--> Move your existing target.xml file
mv target.xml target.xml.old
--> Create an empty targets.xml file under /AGENT_INST/sysman/emd with the below content
<Targets>
</Targets>
--> Start the agent
$AGENT_INST/bin/emctl start agent
This starts agent but without any targets populated in targets.xml
To discover targets perform agent resynchronization operation from console

I am new to OEM and have some generic question :
Question1:
Some of the metrics were available for only Database Instance (documentation says so) and only few for Clustered.
Example:
Alert Log Error Status
Archive Area Used (%)
Does this mean this won't work for Clustered DB (or not applicable ?). (OR) probably this should be setup for each instance ??? Now sure how to setup metrics for Clustered..
Question2:
The metric Response (for clustered database) works only when both instances are down. Any idea how to setup alerts even if one instance is down ???
Thank you...
James. For each notification Rule, there is a a page where you select (or deselect) the Metrics you want to receive emails for.
So when you edit the Notification Rule you created, you can add or remove the metrics you want and indicate the severity states. -

Does Veridata have Agent for oracle database 11gr2 on linux?
Hi,
Does veridata have agent for oracle database 11gr2 on linux? From the edelivery.oracle.com, I just found the latest version is 10.2. When I installed the 10.2 version agent for oracle database 11gr2, the agent needs libnnz10.*. Does 10.2 version agent support for 11gr2 database? Thank you.http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/goldengate/downloads/index.html
PS: Google still works. ;-) -

CloudControl 12c: when adding cluster-database single instances are missing
Hello ,
I'e have installed the agent 12c on every single host of our RAC. When adding a database to CloudControl 12c just the RAC-instance gets discovered - but not the single database instances on each host.
Due to this when clicking targets -> databases I just see the cluster-database - but not every single instance of the database.
Compared to another RAC database this is totally different behaviour.
Any help will be appreciated
Rgds
JHHello ,
maybe I should try to explain the issue a little bit clearer...
We have one RAC database called PROD02. When clicking "targets -> databases" I see the following:
PROD02 of type Cluster Database
PROD021 of type Database Instance
PROD022 of type Database Instance
That's the way it shoudl be - that's the way I expected it...
For the newly cofgured RAC database, called PREP02, it looks different when clicking "targets -> databases"
PREP02 of type Cluster Database
The single instances don't show up. Of course I see the single instances when clicking on "PREP02" under the item "Instances".
Now I wonder why these two RAC databases are differently displayed when clicking "targets -> databases". When trying to add the single instances (clicking "Add" under "targets -> databases") and selecting then either "only on the host <hostname>" or "on all hosts in the cluster" no single instances are found or displayed...

Oracle 12c Grid dashboards shows wrong status of target database
Hello Community,
A database in the 12c Cloud control, even if the database target is up, it says it is down. Agent, listeners are also added as target on that particular host. They show correct state where as database target show as down. Database is in 12c. [12.1.0.2.0] I have referred doc.id 1535613.1. That did not help here.
Every time it is showing down with an additional message "got a minus one from read call "
Agent Core version is 12.1.0.3.0
Could you please guide me in this problem?
Kindly let me know if I am giving sufficient information for preliminary investigation or I need to provide some more details.
Regards,
J_DBA_SouravHi ,
Did you try to test the connection?
Target --> MonitoringProperties --> Test
2) Looks like the below link exactly matches your scenario
EM 12c: Running Database Target Status is Down with Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control Console Error: GOT MINUS ONE FROM A READ CALL (Doc ID 1984376.1)

DB console is showing two Cluster databases
Hi,
I have a two RAC envieronment. I added another instacne . Now the EM (DBconsole) is showing only the old instances , not the new one as well. when i did further investigation , found this.
On the OEM console page, click preferences, click preferred Credentials and the database instance
Under cluster databases, system is showing following
(+)DBNAME.hostname.lcl
(+)DBNAME
when i expanded the (+)DBNAME.hostname.lcl, its showing
DBNAME.hostname.lcl_DBNAME3
Exapanding (+)DBNAME shows
DBNAME_DBNAME2
DBNAME_DBNAME1
The problem is , why not all the instances are shown into one cluster databases.
does anyone knows, how to fix. I have raised a SR , but as usual no solution.I definitely feel your pain, I've been there and done that. If you don't mind punting I would suggest the following:
As an example, we have a three node rac database. The node/instance names are rac01/ORADB1, rac02/ORADB2, and rac03/ORADB3. We want to install EM dbconsole to manage all the instances. rac01 is the EM host server. The database registry shows the following:
COMP_ID COMP_NAME VERSION STATUS SCHEMA
EM Oracle Enterprise Manager 11.1.0.6.0 VALID SYSMAN
Set up ssh authorization in such way so that all nodes can connect to each other without password prompt. The ssh authorization can be disabled after the configuration.
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate -cluster -EM_NODE rac01 -EM_SID_LIST ORADB2,ORADB3 -SYS_PWD password -DBSNMP_PWD password -SYSMAN_PWD password -PORT 1521
The logs for this activity can be found under:
cd $ORACLE_BASE/cfgtoollogs/emca/<DB_UNIQUE_NAME>
You will be prompted for :
Database unique name: ORADB
Cluster name: rac_cluster
Email address for notifications (optional): <enter>
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server for notifications (optional): <enter>
ASM ORACLE_HOME [ /apps/dbs/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1 ]: <enter>
ASM port [ 1521 ]: <enter>
ASM user role [ SYSDBA ]: <enter>
ASM username [ SYS ]: <enter>
ASM user password: < the password for SYS ASM user>
The whole process takes about 1 hour, depending on the speed of the servers that you are using.
If in the future another node is added to the RAC system, then issue the following command on node 1:
emca -addInst db
You will be prompted for :
Node name: <new server name>
Database unique name: ORADB
Database SID: <new instance name>
Password for SYS user: <password>
You should find the agent running on non host nodes, in this case rac02 and rac03, while db console will also be running on the host node i.e. rac01.
IF not then run emctl start dbconsole on all on nodes.
How does that work for you?

Cloud Control 12c: no values for "Database CPU Time (%)" for 9i databases
Hi ,
we have several databases in our CloudControl - and for most of them (Oracle release 10g or higher) the value "Database CPU Time (%)" under the tab "Databases" has a value. For databases of version 9i this value always shows up as a "-" sign - and for a few databases of version 10g or 11g, too.
Is this a known issue of the CloudControl or the agent?
We are using CloudControl 12.1.0.1.0.
Any help will be appreciated.
Rgds
JanPlease post a screen shot. DB time instrumentation was added in DB 10g so that may be why in pre-10g databese, the value is absent. It should show up for 10g and higher databases though as long as they (user calls) have some CPU consumption to report.

12c Cloud Control - Agent Unreachable
Hello,
I am quite new to 12c cloud control and I am unable to resolve an "Agent Unreachable" issue.
I could find Agent does not upload to OMS in OEM 12c as relevant
but nothing in that worked for me.
The setup is as follows:
1) 12c cloud control is installed on a box and is up and running (both OMS and agent)
2) The agent on the same host as OMS can talk to OMS and the agent status is shown as "available" in OMS console
3) There is another box that has a 11.2 database installed as well as 12c agent installed (called as DEVBOX for convenience)
4) DEVBOX has database up and running and 12c agent also up and running. In the past, it was probably being able to "talk" to OMS but I can't remember
However, at present, on OMS console, this agent is shown as "unreachable". I tried few things but only possible issue I could find is
when I try to use Setup -> Add Target -> Add Targets Manually -> Add non-Host targets using guided process, on the "specify Host" page
when I click on "Select Host" option, the hostname in the agent URL for the DEVBOX is different than the actual host name.
As the agent URL for DEVBOX is not reachable (because the hostname is invalid), I can't do anything with this agent.
Can somebody please help?Loc Nhan wrote:
To remove an agent from the console:
- Go to the homepage of the host where the agent reside
- From the Host menu under the host name, select Related Targets
- Remove all non-agent targets
- Remove the host target by selecting Host > Target Setup > Remove Target
- Stop the agent
- Remove the agent target by going to the agent homepage and selecting Agent > Target Setup > Remove TargetLoc,
Once again thanks for looking into this. I followed your advice above and removed the host and the agent from OMS console.
Now, with the 12c agent already running on the DEVBOX, I was hoping that OMS will automatically detect the agent but I
can't find it in OMS console.
On DEVBOX:

Change Master Agent for Cluster-Based Agent -- OEM 11.1.0.1
We had a 6 node RAC cluster and a cluster-based management agent installed to monitor.
Node 6 was the Master agent.
Now node 6 is not part of the cluster.
I am getting metric collection for the cluster.
I cluster configuration in OEM shows Master agent as node 6. I only have 3 nodes now.
How do I update the master agent or the cluster.
Thanks,
SilverOn the clustef homepage in OEM there is a link called properties under the name of the cluster. Click the link it will shlw the true master node. What I have seen in the pasf what can rsolve the issue is bounce the agent on that master node. You can also try a clear state. You can also use the configuration for the cluster database to make sure the old instance has been remove from OEM.

EM 10g Database Control - Status: Agent Unreachable
Hi,
OS: AIX 5L
Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0 - 64bit
We have installed 2 instances with EM 10g database control option.
At the end EM was running over the second database.
Then we switch it to look over the first one by reconfiguring these files:
$ORACLE_HOME/sysman/config/emd.properties;
$ORACLE_HOME/sysman/config/pref/dbastudio-oradba.crd.
Now EM seems to work fine except for this error: Agent Unreachable.
