Cloudd and bird processes hogging the processor?

I have a fresh installation of Yosemite on a mid-2010 MBP. I'm seeing two processes, "cloudd" and "bird," consistently running the proc at about %60 and %40 consistently, along with the expected heat, fan and battery consumption. My first thought was that this was tied to iCloud Drive indexing, but we're deep into hour three at this point, which seems little excessive to index less than .5G in data.
Anyone else seeing this?

Here's how I solved the iCloud CPU hogging issue.
Like most I quickly found that the bird and cloudd processes lookup
1. Unplugged from network/internet.
2. Killed both cloudd and bird, (you can do this via command line by using TOP to find the process id {PID} and then KILL -9 {PID} or the Activity Monitor and force quit)
3. Undo any setting that forces your disk to securely delete file or securely empty trash. In my case I had this on by default and had recently trashed files from the iCloud folder. I'm not sure if this was the root cause but it's something I did in the process of eliminating anything that could have restrictions on the iCloud files and folders.
4. Empty the trash. Make sure that non of the iCloud files were open or locked by other application/network/etc.
5. Restarted iCloud service. Thanks to Sorki, ran "brctl log --wait --shorten"
6. Wait for all files to sync. Gotta be patient. If it's the first time you put large files or large quantity of files, you gotta give it time to sync.
7. Been running fine for days.
I have 3 computers that are all tied to iCloud. All are now working great. Only my iMac 2010 had the slowdown. Judging by the fact that only one had the issue I knew that it must be a local settings issue, a large file, or some sort of file system restriction.

I'm not having ANY of the other issues that folks are reporting. Safari works perfectly EXCEPT, after browsing for awhile, I notice that my whole computer seems to slow down. Checking the Activity Monitor reveals that Safari is hogging 100% of the processors! Even with no pages open and the cache emptied. Quitting and restarting Safari seems to clear things up... for awhile.
MacPro 2.66 8core, 6GB RAM, Leopard 10.5.2, Safari Version 3.0.4 (5523.15)

Does disabling Plugins fix the problem? I've had these problems, and a few others, with Safari sometimes hanging, 100% CPU when looking at flash/WMV/MPEG4 files, and the latter issue with 100% CPU was solved by disabling plugins
preferences -> Security -> Disable plugins

I downloaded the newest versus of firefox and now it will not open. I've ctrl-alt-delete and under processes ended the process and it still doesn't open.

I'm using Int. explore right now because firefox will not work. Every time I turn on my computer in the morning it will not work.

The message box will have an option [start new session] try clicking that.
If that fails you may need to delete sessionstore.js and its coppies and backups to get the sytem working again, but lets try the obvious solution first.

I have a pavillion DV6-2155dx and want to upgrade the processor from a I-3 to an I-5 or above.

I would like to get a link to the complete repair manual if possible also.
I have 4 gb of memory can i upgrade this also?

That manual is for a different Dv6 series (Sandy Bridge - Dv6-6000). The laptop has a shared graphics Intel chip so it might not be possible to upgrade to Core i7-720/820QM but should be possible to upgrade up to Core i5-580M as it takes 35W (use the same fan/heat sink) as the original CPU. The RAM can be upgraded up to 8GB of DDR3 - 1066MHz memory. 1333MHz DDR3 modules might work too but will downclock to 1066Mhz so no need to buy them anyway.

Having problems opening firefox (vista) i have to goto task manager and close process all the time just to reopen?

hi i have just recentley started having problems opening firefox up (before update) i use vista, i can double click on icon and nothing happens but when i turn pc off it pops up as the screen is going off very strange? the only way i can get it to work is by going in to task manager and ending firefox process yet there isnt firefox running????

yea thanks thats the issue there is nothing in applications for firefox so i cant close anything there but in processes there is Firefox.exe useing 30,000k so i close that, but im even stuggling with that now to get firefox working now i just had to do that process around 10 times!!!!! and then only with right clicking firefox in start menu

I am trying to play my digital music off a hard drive onto my home stereo. I would like to know if the mac mini can just hook to my processor and play music through the processor(preamp) on my home stereo speakers?

I currently have a nice home stereo component system. I also have a 500 GB external hard drive loaded with music. I am looking for a way to play the music off this Hard Drive onto my home stereo system. I currently have a WD home entertainment box that I can play movies that I download off the Internet on my TV, of course piped through my home stereo for the sound. I would like to know if the mac-mini could be used in this form also. Just have the HD hooked to it, the TV would become my monitor and the mac mini would play the music ... RANDOMLY ... with the use of iTunes. This of course would be hooked up to the home system with an hdmi cable and the HD hooked up through a USB connection.

Yes. Is the short answer.
You can directly connect the speaker out port of the Mac mini to an input on the AV Receiver which then feeds your speakers. This would be an audio only solution. If you use a TOS-Link connection this will be a pure digital connection ensuring the best quality (important for audiophiles).
You can if you wish connect the video from the Mac mini to the AV Receiver, and if you have a Mac mini with HDMI or a Mini Displayport you can run the audio and video via a single cable. (Older models would use two cables, the aforementioned TOS-Link pus a DVI to HDMI cable.)
If you do connect the video output from the Mac to the AV Receiver you can then display this on your TV, and have as one possibility iTunes displayed with perhaps one of the iTunes visualisers playing along with the music. Another possibility would be to use FrontRow on the Mac.
A different approach would be to have the Mac mini stream over a network to a device e.g. the Sonos Zoneplayer which is then connected to the AV Receiver. An AirPort Express is also able to do this.

I'm considering buying a macbook pro retina for doing video editing, is it worth it to upgrade to 16gb of ram? and how about upgrading the processor? its quite expensive to upgrade, if I musth chose one which is more important. I use imovie/ fcp

In terms of screen real estate, I don't care much for it as I usually work relatively close to the pixel sizes and I generally work in very dum conditions so the antiglare is something I also dont care for. If mac offered a Matt finish screen again it would be a dream lol.
Retina though sweet is really just a gimmick, stare at one screen, starred at them all, so I'm fine with the regular MBP.
And size does matter.

Acutal and Target Processes for two concurrent managers refuse to be equal

Hi
I have bounced the concurrent manager. I have stopped all services on the apps node then started them again.
All Actual / Target processes are now equal except two -
the OAM Generic Collection and the Output Post Processor
What, if anything, can I do for this? As they satnd, Concurrent Manger is down, still.

Someone here tells me that it isn't a good idea to worry about the iniquity of the Actual and Targer processes, if the particular manager is not one that we need, or use.
I dont know if this is correct or not.
He also tells me that checking the Dashboard to see if the CCM is up is not recommended - he explains that he only visits the Administer Concurrent Managers screen, and its there and only there that he compares the Actual to the Target.
I am not sure if he is right, but at least this question is now partly answered.
Also, I just read that "sometimes the actual process may be less than the target process due to manager deactivation" .

Assigning the processor role dynamically

I am creating a GP using Webdynpro for GP Interface Callable Object in which the initiator fills out certain details like issue ,ticket no...using the webdynpro view...which has a dropdown also for module ...based on the module selected in the dropdown the workitem should go for approval in the UWL for the corresponding lead of the module....and not to all the processors of the action....how can I achieve this dynamically....?

          Add a node attribute say "Userid " of type "String" .
in the web dynpro callable object, based on the module selected get the user using user API (as shown below) and set it ot the Userid attribute in the complete method.

for accessing the IUSER API , u need to add tc/je/usernanagement/api from ENGFACADE.
(open the component properties of ur component and click dependencies --> click add button --> select tc/je/usernanagement/api from ENGFACADE).
create a callable object say -->Assign Users to process Role .
(in the design time select create callable object and select User management--> Assign User to process Role which has Structure User Item as input ).
After the web dynpro callable object , insert this callable object and do the mapping between the Userid and uniqueId of Structure.

Can I mix Pages page layout and word processing together in one document?

Hello there ! I am quite new to Pages and I am desperate to learn as i want to get rid of everything being Microsoft
As you all know when you open Pages you can choose between page layout and word processing !
the thing is i thought that after using a page layout you could just go with word processing easily... well no, you can't, but i'm sure i'm missing something...
For exemple i really like the catalogue brochure and it would be perfect for me to start a project... but after a few pages, i can just add blank pages and if i want to type text, i have to add text boxes... i don't want that, I want word processing... and another thing in this brochure i can't add table of content because it is not by default in the template...
So my question is quite basic here, can we link Page layout and word processing without having to use text boxes and everything ?

Welcome to Apple discussions.
The simple answer is no. What differentiates page layout from word processing mode is that the PL mode has no text layer. So everything that goes on the page must be an object of some kind. And any pages you add to a PL document must also be PL. You can't mix the two modes. One way around it is to start with a blank page, insert a text box, then stretch the box so that it covers the entire page. You can the type in it as if it were a text layer in a WP file. You can even capture that page so that you can add it automatically when you need it, or save it as a template.
As for building a Table of Contents, it appears that Pages only sees text styles that are on the text layer, which means it won't see styles that are in objects -- which means it won't work with a PL document. From being a long-time reader of this discussion group, I've noticed it's rare that someone wants to add a ToC to a PL document.
If you find that you're going to be mixing text and graphics, start with a word processing template. If you really like the Catalog Brochure, you could always copy some or all of its elements over to a blank WP template.

I have a scenario where i'll purchase material with Freight charges from the Vendor, Now the same freight charge i'll imposed on customer while billing.
I'll be using same Freight GL account for both purchase and sales process.
I have configured the process by assigning same GL in the account keys in the pricing procedure for Purchase and sales process for the Freight condition.I have tested the scenario and i was very confused.
Scenario:
i have created a PO and made GR, the accounting entries were,
Stock account ...........Dr.
GR/IR................Cr.
Freight...........Cr.
While performing invoice verification the accounting entries are,
Vendor.......... Cr.
GR/IR........ Dr.
Freight....... Dr.
Accounting entries during Billing to customer,
Customer.......Dr
Sales.......Cr.
Freight......Cr.
Freight......Dr.
Let say for Purchase and Sales process i have used GL 600016 as Freight account.
IF i have paid Rs 500 for Freight to vendor, then i'll be imposing an amount of Rs 500 to customer as freight charges.
Please guide if i had made any mistake in configuring the process
also please advice is there any way to check the GL balance, like the amount to be collected from customer as freight as i'll be using same GL.

SD process is not logical with outcome account 600016. For me , you can collect freight costs a different account for sd .
For sd configurations , you can benefit from belowed path.
Spro-->SD-->Basic Functions-->Account Assignment/Costing-->Assign G/L Accounts

Using CREATE PROCESS and START PROCESS in a JSP

I have built a simple JSP page. I want to call my workflow program from this page.
How should I use the CREATE PROCESS() AND START PROCESS() inside the JSP page?
Also I want to get the value entered in the text field (which will be a hidden field) to be passed to the ITEM_ATTRIBUTE, which I have defined in my program. How can this be achieved?
Please give me the syntax for this.

There are two options.
1. Good one.
Include wf*.jar files in your system CLASSPATH. Use oracle.apps.fnd.wf.engine.WFEngineAPI class to access engine APIs. You would need to pass WFContext for which you need WFDB.
You basically created WFDB with username, password and connect string. Pass it to WFContext and use it for all Workflow Engine APIs.
2. OK one.
You can get JDBC connection using the default mechanism that your custom Java and JSP code could be using. Call the PLSQL procedures WF_ENGINE.CreateProcess and WF_ENGINE.LaunchProcess over JDBC.
Anyways option 1 makes life easier.

DAQ and motor control in the same VI

Hello,
I am a beginner in labview and I am trying to control a maxon motor and run a NIDAQ at the same time. Basically, I need to measure the pressures and the angles at the same time and record these.
The problem that I am facing is that when I execute the VI, the motor runs first and this is followed by the measurement. I have twiddled around with it a lot getting a lot of help from this community but I can't figure it out. No matter what I do the motor starts running first and after the motor has completed its movement then the DAQ takes the measurements.
Is there any way to run the motor and the sensors together? I can run the motor seperately and I can run the sensors separately in their own VIs but can't seem to run them sequentially.
Any help would be appreciated.

In LabVIEW, your wires between VIs (and structures like While Loops) determine the order in which things happen.
There are several approaches that you can take to de-couple the motor and DAQ processes. The most obvious would be to put the motor control in one while loop, and the DAQ in another. Yes, you can do this in LabVIEW. Just don't get too carried away. Each loop usually will go to a separate core to run.
If there is data that has to be shared between the loops, you can use local variables, or the Value property nodes of the controls and indicators of your VI.

Separate Distribution Monitor Export and Import Processes on Multiple Machines

Would you kindly let me know whether it is possible (means officially supported way) to run Distribution Monitor Export and Import processes on different machines?
As per SAP note 0001595840 "Using DISTMON and MIGMON on source and target systems", it says as below.
> 1. DISTMON expects the export and import to be carried out on the same server
I think it means that export and import processes for the same tables must be run on the same machine, is it correct? If yes, Export on the machine A, and then Import those exported data on the other machine B is not the officially supported way... (However, I know it is technically possible.)

Point no. 2 & 3 clarify the confusion. However let me explain it briefly:
Distribution Monitor is used basically in case of migration of large SAP systems (database). It provides the feature to increase parallelism of export and import, distributing the process across available systems.
You have to prepare the system for using DistMon. A common directory needs to be created as"commDir" and in case you use multiple systems for executing more number of processes of export and import then that "commDir" should be shared across all those systems. And this is what the Point no.1 in KBA 1595840 mentions about. Distribution Monitor will run both the export and import process from the machine which is prepared for using DistMon and DistMon itself will control the other processes i.e. MigMon. No need to start separate MigMon.
For example: You are performing a migration of SAP system based on OS:AIX and DB:DB2 to OS: HP-UX and DB: Oracle. You need to perform the export using DistMon and you are having 4 Windows servers which can be used for parallel export/import. Once you have prepared the system for DistMon which hosts the "commDir" you'll have to provide the information of involved host machines in the "distribution_monitor_cmd.properties" file. Now when DistMon is executed it will distribute the export and import process across the systems which were defined in "distribution_monitor_cmd.properties" file automatically.

Business Process and sub Process IN ERM and CUP

Hi Friends,
We are in intial stage of GRC implimentation. Now I am uploading the roles into ERM and CUP. I have defined business processes and sub processes for the roles and upload the roles successfully in ERM. But when I am doing the same excercise in CUP especially during creation of sub process it is not allowing the charecter "-" in the name space.
E.g. Business process name is EHS-SM (Uploaded to CUP)
Sub process name is EHS-SM1.1 (not allowing to create in CUP wher as successfully created in ERM)
My question is
1. why it allows me to do the same thing in ERM but not in CUP.
2. Is there any way to maintain the name with chaecter "-".
For your information I am in the phase of defining the attributes for the roles.

I will have a hard time ahead with BP and SBP. all are in the same format. I dont think my company will agree to change the name of there BP or SBP because they are thousands in count and also there is no other way around in GRC,
