Hello Amit,
Here is a good discussion link to how to do this:
Convert RAC database to single instance database
Also, your best bet to avoid downtime and avoid data loss when converting from RAC to single instance would be to implement a standby. Here is a link to a whitepaper related to the topic:
[Convert RAC to single instance with standby|http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/availability/pdf/MAA_WP_10g_RACPrimarySingleInstancePhysicalStandby.pdf]
Hope this helps.

Ben

  • OFS add standalone database to group error

    I was installing OFS 3.3.3 with Oracle 10g R2 on 2 win2k3sp1 servers. The standalone database instance could be startup at each node respectively without any issue.
    The standalone database verification ran successfully. (I failover the data files to the second node, and verify that I can start and connect the same database instance, maybe I missed any configuration in registry or somewhere on node2?)
    But when I tried to add the resource to the cluster group, I got following error:

    Hi,
    Did you manage to get past this error?
    Did you set DB_NAME in the init.ora file as per the message for ORA-01506?

  • HELP! Oracle FailSafe - Listener fails when adding standalone database

    Well, I have a cluster of two nodes with the following specs:
    (1) an Oracle 10g database each
    (2) Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS)
    (3) Windows Server 2003 64-bit edition
    (4) Intel Itanium Processor
    (5) Oracle Failsafe 3.3.3 for Windows 2003 64-bit
    The 64-bit Oracle Failsafe doesn't come with Oracle Failsafe Manager, so I used a Failsafe Manager remotely from another clustered servers. The version is also 3.3.3, but it's running on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
    Well, after connecting to the 64-bit cluster, I added the standalone database to a Cluster Group. There are two cluster groups on the Server:
    (1)"Cluster Group" (the default cluster group created by MSCS); containing an IP address, a network name, Oracle Cluster Services, and the Quorum hard drive.
    (1)"ORACLE DB" A cluster gropu I created for the database; containing another IP address, a network name for the IP address, and every hard drive volumes of the database files.
    The database currently resides on the Node 2 (because I created it there). I have successfully verified the database (using "Verify Standalone Database" option). BUT when I added the database into the cluster group ORACLE DB, it failed with the following message:
    23 20:48:48 ** ERROR : FS-10066: Failed to start Windows service OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener for the Oracle Net listener
    When I opened the Windows Event Viewer, apparently the Listener Service had started, but it soon "terminated unexpectedly":
    At first, the Listener Service appeared to be started:
    But this is what happened next; it seemed the Listener Service terminated abruptly after entering the running state for a very short time:
    What happened? What should I do? What is the problem? Many thanks!
    PS: the following are the messages from both Verifying Standalone Database and Adding Standalone Database. The verification was successfull, but I just failed to add the database:

    I have checked the README files and looked up the FS- Errors, but they are very general and don't give me a clue as towhy they failed.
    Have been Googleing for days and found no answer yet. Are there any other logs that might shed some light on this?
    Thanks and have a great day,

  • Cluster database and payroll database

    please let me know what is a cluster database and payroll database, and what are the structures involved in it.
    please let me know as soon as possible as it is very URGENT.
    ADV THANX
    REGARDS,
    VETRIVEL MURUGAN

    You didn't say what platform you are using. I have done clustering with 11i (CRM and HR/Payroll) on Solaris 8 using Sun Cluster 3.
    If you look at http://docs.sun.com/db?p=prod/cluster you will see a number of documents on the subject of clustering. The Data Services guide will tell you clustering an Oracle database and TNS listeners.
    If you want to cluster other components to failover (Apache, Concurrent Manager, Forms Server) you will have to write start, stop and probe scripts for Sun Cluster 3 GDS to use.
    Payroll is the 11i Application suite that delivers payroll functionality, though Oracle are not the only ones that provide this type of software.

  • Movig MR from existing RAC db to new standalone database

    Hi,
    I installed MRCA and created MR on existing RAC database. (Sun X86)
    I installed application server by using that MR on RAC database.
    Now this application server Portal as middle tier went alive.
    Now I would like to MR from existing RAC database to newly installed standalone database.(Sun SPARC 64)
    Is it possible0? If yes, how? If no, Why?
    source db platform is Sun X86 and destination db platform is Sun SPARC64.
    Source db is using ASM file system and destination db is using normal filesystem.
    After the move, my application server should work. (Because this is production system).

    Hi Roberto Barrera,
    I’m sorry for the way I posted my queries.
    The document you suggested me is really useful but I want to make sure this document will surely applicable for my case. Our concern is to move the entire database which is also MR for Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.3.0. Let me explain you more about our architecture.
    Dbnode1& dbnode2 (Sun X86 – OS: Sun Solaris 10)
    We have two node RAC db and created MR on that db by MRCA. (Oracle home 1)
    We installed Oracle AS Infra tier Identity Manager. (including OID, HA, DIP but excluding SSO component) (oracle home 2)
    Midnode-1 & Midnode2 (Sun X86- OS: Sun Solaris 10)
    We installed Oracle AS Infra tier Identity Manager. (Including SSO, HA, DIP but excluding OID) (oracle home 1)
    We installed Oracle AS Middle tier (Portal and wireless services). (Including Web cache and Portal along with default component j2ee, http) (Oracle home 2)
    We need to move whatever running on dbnode1 and 2 to another couple of Sun SPARC64 – OS: Sun Solaris 10 machines. We know binary migration is not possible between X86 and SPARC64. Therefore, I have installed a new database with SPARC64 installation media and created fresh MR by running runRepca.sh script. In one of the document Oracle recommend to do RMAN backup to move entire data from existing (original) database to new (target) database.

    In this procedure, new database also must use the same Oracle home, datafile location, SID, and global database name as the original Metadata Repositorys. Our newly installed database is not RAC database with ASM but this is standalone database on qfs file system. We could not create database with the same datafile location as the original MR.
    • Can we do full database export/import? (your document only talking about portal schema but in my MR there are around 60 schemas related with MR and we need to import all the schemas)
    • Is there any other possible solution for case?
    Thanks in Advance :)

  • Oracle Database Express Edition used in a standalone database

    I have been developing databases for years in Access. I have had alot of people want me to make databases for them. I do not want to make the databases in access and then have to worry about sending a database to a different state and then find out that the user has a different version of access installed and it is not working correctly.
    Can I use Oracle database express edition to create a database with a front end that I can send to others and they can install it on their computer and run it? Or do they need to install the full version of Oracle Express? In other words is there like a Runtime version?

    user13756579 wrote:
    I saw that had to install twice last night, messed up my password. The one thing I am worried about is the database running all the time on the users computer, even tho they might not use the database for months at a time. These databases are small databases to keep the data of group members. ie. name, address, phone, personal information and maybe a scanned document or two.
    I have looked at other database programs, but do not want to put out alot of money if I might only develop 3-5 small databases a year.You may develope your application in such manner, that it will start Oracle XE service and stop it on exit. Set the service to start manually. That's it.

  • Database Toolkit - Get Database Information

    Hi All,
    I'm struggling a bit with this toolkit, and thought I'd bring it up on here for some input.
    Using the included functions with that toolkit, I'm able to connect to my database, but i'm having trouble writing to it (Error -2147217913).  I'm a bit concerned that maybe my data types don't match, so in order to confirm, I noticed in the examples given with this toolkit there was a VI that gets your database information (Column names, tables, most relevant - data types per column name.).  Something odd happened that I'm not sure if its supposed to:
    I changed the UDL address of the example database, to my database's UDL...nothing else, just to get a list of datatypes.  Now using their UDL it finishes cleanly, w/no error.  With my UDL - I receive Error -2147217900 occurred at Conn Execute.vi->DB Tools List Columns.vi->Get Database Information.vi.  Interesting eh?  But it does show every column name/and data type, wonder why it fails though?
    Anyone have some recommendations of how to troubleshoot next? Or how to interpret this?  I'm betting if I can figure out why its failing in the example program, both failures are maybe tied together?
    LV7.1, LV8.5

    Hi Aashish!
    Good news, figured out the problem...I WAS writing a null to the database (by accident), and while access doesn't mind them - the toolkit is based on SQL standard which i believe does.  The program had a cluster that was being initialized, and fed into a loop where it waited for user action. (So we didn't have left over garbage in each field whenever the app ran.)  Once the user input all their data, that same wire was fed into the input to populate the array. I thought it would update the cluster as the controls were changed, but I guess the only way to change elements is to unbundle, change and rebundle. (At least thats how it behaves)
    Appreciate the help, but while on the topic maybe you can give me a pointer, the only way I could work it so a fresh copy of the data was sent into the cluster, was to make a local variable of the cluster and wire that to the input (See picture).  Rather than get yelled at later if I need more help, any idea how to reduce that local so we don't require a duplicate copy of the data?  (avoid race conditions, etc.)  Or would you even?  Guess it boils down to, is there another way to update the cluster in there?  I can unbundle, and rebundle, but I'm not sure what I'd do between the two to update all those to feed into the database...its a bit confusing to describe but I think it gets the idea across lol.
    I was thinking about a way to do it...and thought maybe I need an indicator for each control, then when the indicator changes, feed that into the control cluster to update from intial and go from there...but thats a copy of data the same size as the local would make, I'd think.

    Hello;
    Script has to be run from auxiliary.
    Great details, but what I don't see is how you connect in RMAN.
    Example
    Start RMAN
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target=sys/@recover2 auxiliary=sys/@reclone
    Recovery Manager: Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production on Wed Feb 22 14:50:31 2012
    Copyright (c) 1982, 2009, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.
    connected to target database: RECOVER2 (DBID=3806912436)
    connected to auxiliary database: RECLONE (not mounted)Nothing in your tnsnames or listener jumps out as wrong. I copied them into my text editor and compared against my working ones.
    Generally for active duplication I start the future standby on a pfile NOMOUNT.
    Auxiliary Instance Initialization Parameters Needed :
    DB_NAME
    CONTROL_FILES
    DB_BLOCK_SIZE
    ( add extra parameters like DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT and LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT instead of using the SET command - clean up standby spfile right after duplication )
    Then start RMAN and finally run a single line duplication command.
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target=sys/@primary auxiliary=sys/@standby
    RMAN>duplicate target database for standby from active database NOFILENAMECHECK;Best Regards

  • From database 8i to database 10g

    I have installed oracle10,but t did not know how to import datafile in database 8i to database 10g

    Are you attempting to Upgrade an 8i database to 10g? If so the Upgrade Guide would be the place to start.
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14238/toc.htm
    If you have an 8i export that you would like to import into a 10g database you can use Import.

  • How to Add Sales order from one database to another database

    Hi All,
    I am trying to add sales order with sales order object.
    I have completed connectivity from one database to another database.
    but i am unable to post sales order with orders object.
    My code is
    ObjSales = objMain.objUtilities.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oOrders)
                ObjSales.DocDate = Date.Parse(System.DateTime.Now().ToString("d"))
                ObjSales.DocDueDate = Date.Parse(System.DateTime.Now().ToString("d"))
                ObjSales.TaxDate = Date.Parse(System.DateTime.Now().ToString("d"))
                ObjSales.CardCode = "C0006"
               ObjSales.Series = 92
                ObjSales.PaymentGroupCode = 3
                ObjSales.Comments = "vivek"
               ObjSales.Lines.Add()
               ObjSales.Lines.SetCurrentLine(1)
               ObjSales.Lines.ItemCode = "5127"
               ObjSales.Lines.Quantity = 100
               ObjSales.Lines.UnitPrice = 10
               ObjSales.Lines.WarehouseCode = "01"
                ObjSales.Lines.TaxCode = "0"
                ObjSales.Lines.DiscountPercent = "0.00"
                ObjSales.DocTotal = 1000
                 If ObjSales.Add <> 0 Then
                   objMain.objApplication.SetStatusBarMessage("Sales or Not Posted", SAPbouiCOM.BoMessageTime.bmt_Short, True)
                   Exit Sub
                else
                  objMain.objUtilities.ShowSuccessMessage("Sales Order Posted successfully")
                End If
    The above code is executing successfully.But the Sales order is not getting added.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Vivek,
    If the code you posted is not throwing any errors, then the order really does get created. Apparently just not to both databases, am I correct ?

    That means that apparently you have not gotten this bit right.
    Generally speaking if you want to create an order into two databases, you first need to connect to both databases and create separate order objects for each database. So you need to do this bit twice; once for each database. Something like this:
    ObjSales1 = objMain.objUtilities1.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oOrders)
    ObjSales2 = objMain.objUtilities2.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oOrders)
    Then at the end you also need to add both objects separately:
    If ObjSales1.Add <> 0 Then
    etc.
    If ObjSales2.Add <> 0 Then
    etc
    Good luck,
    Johan

  • Rman clone duplicate database from active database

    Hi All,
    I read document saying that rman can duplicate database from active database (prod) to a remote server, so long as you configure listener and tnsname.
    I am working toward it.
    I met a problem, which is when i bring up auxiliary database in nomount mode, the listener service of that auxiliary database is in BLOCKED status, and throw out ora-12528 error when I rman auxiliary sys/pass@clonedb. Isn't nomount mode the mode which auxiliary db is supposed to be in?
    (ora-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections)
    Thanks,
    milic

    You may have run into the same problem like I did recently:
    The (UR=A) clause in tnsnames.ora is intended to work with a dynamically registered handler so the use of SERVICE_NAME versus SID is preferred.
    ORA-12528: TNS listener BLOCKED - trying to duplicate database
    Also for further problems:
    RMAN 11gR2 duplicate database ORA-17627 ORA-01017 RMAN-03009 ORA-17628
