Cluster ID on multiple VPNv4 RRs

Hi Sir,
In an MPLS Layer 3 VPN environment with two VPNv4 RRs and all the PE routers have iBGP sessions with both RRs, what's the implication if no cluster ID is configured on the RRs? And what's the implication if the same cluster ID is configured on both RRs?
I have an MPLS network that's running fine with no cluster ID configured on the RRs.
Please advise.
Thank you.
B.Rgds,
Lim TS

Hi Lim,
From RFC 4456:
"8. Avoiding Routing Information Loops
When a route is reflected, it is possible through misconfiguration to form route re-distribution loops. The route reflection method defines the following attributes to detect and avoid routing information loops:
ORIGINATOR_ID
ORIGINATOR_ID is a new optional, non-transitive BGP attribute of Type code 9. This attribute is 4 bytes long and it will be created by an RR in reflecting a route. This attribute will carry the BGP Identifier of the originator of the route in the local AS. A BGP speaker SHOULD NOT create an ORIGINATOR_ID attribute if one already exists. A router that recognizes the ORIGINATOR_ID attribute SHOULD ignore a route received with its BGP Identifier as the ORIGINATOR_ID.
CLUSTER_LIST
CLUSTER_LIST is a new, optional, non-transitive BGP attribute of Type code 10. It is a sequence of CLUSTER_ID values representing the reflection path that the route has passed.
When an RR reflects a route, it MUST prepend the local CLUSTER_ID to the CLUSTER_LIST. If the CLUSTER_LIST is empty, it MUST create a new one. Using this attribute an RR can identify if the routing information has looped back to the same cluster due to misconfiguration. If the local CLUSTER_ID is found in the CLUSTER_LIST, the advertisement received SHOULD be ignored."
So the main reason of using the cluster list ID is to avoid routing loops in certain scenarios.
You understood and verified, that this means connectivity is broken, if two select sessions are down. However, in a full mesh iBGP even one session being down will break connectivity. As such you would gain and not loose something with RRs. Long story short: to my knowledge it is best practice to use a single cluster ID for a cluster.

      mysystemmodule!JMSserver01@UDQueue01 10

But when try to listen message from these queue, it is listening from one server, for which URL given to connect.
      mysystemmodule!JMSserver01@UDQueue01 0
      mysystemmodule!JMSserver02@UDQueue01 10
untill I connect to other server by giveing its URL, will not able to access other message left on the queue.
    Solutions that tried
      1) we have tried give both server URL coma sparated in provider URL
we need to configur same scenario for 5 managed server with 3 listener on other servers.
Do any one have solution for this.

    You need to have:
    1. Consumers connected to each UDQ member
    OR
    2. If no consumers in some of the members is expected, you can configure Forward Delay (specify the amount of time, in seconds, that a queue member with messages, but with no consumers, will wait before forwarding its messages to other queue members that do have consumers):

  • Scheduling,Email Setup in cluster environment and multiple job servers

    Hello All,
I have to schedule and email instances of crystal reports to users in PDF and excel format. A Clustered environment of Business Objects 3.1 SP3 is been setup on 2 servers. There is 2 instances of crystal reports Job server been created.
My question is If there are multiple instances of job servers then should we have to configure mail settings on both instances of job server or not?
And secondly, in cluster environment the email settings and scheduling of the reports should be setup on both CMS servers( CMS server 1 and CMS server 2) or should CMS server 1 should be enough?
    Thanks in advance.

You have a couple of options here.
    1.  You can either set up email on all of the job servers on both CMS' in the cluster.  This is actually the easiest to manage.
    2.  You can set up email on some of the job servers on one or the other CMS.  However, at this point you would also have to set up a server group that contains the job servers that are set up for email, plus the RAS server - you might also have to include the Crystal Cache server and the Crystal Processing server.  Then ALL of the reports that are sent via email would have to be scheduled run ONLY on the server group that contains the email-enabled job server(s).

  • Add cluster nodes from multiple machines to WebLogic domain in OEM 10.2.0.5

    Hello,
I want to monitor a WebLogic domain in Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.5 with the following layout:
    - Admin server on machine 1
    - managed server, cluster node a on machine 2
    - managed server, cluster node b on machine 3
    How can I do this?
When I go to "Add Weblogic Domain", I can enter the admin adress (machine 1) and tick the box to say that there is an agent running on another host (where I specify machine 2). However I do not see a possibility to discover managed servers from machine 3.
Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks,

  • One disk in failover cluster but needs multiple volumes

I made a dumb move and did my disk in MBR instead of GPT. Now I'm at 2.5TB but can only allocate 2TB because of the limitation.
So I have about 300GB available on a cluster disk but can't seem to figure out how to create a volume out of the unallocated space and add it to my file server cluster.
Is this possible? Here is a picture of what i'm talking about:

You will not be able to add a partition as it's own cluster disk. I would backup your data and convert your disk to GPT and then restore the data.

  • Cluster Aware Updating - Multiple at once?

SO we have two clusters running Server 2012.  If I kick off Cluster Aware Updating on one cluster, can I then disconnect from that cluster, join our other one, and kick off updating on that one?
I know when i connect to one from the other it tells me it will disconnect me from the first one but I don't know if that means it will stop or if it will keep going and I just can't see what it's doing.
    Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand your question.  Cluster aware updating can be scheduled on each cluster independent of anything else that is in your environment.  I don't know what you mean when you say you 'disconnect' from one cluster and
'connect' to the other.  Are you logging out of one cluster and into another?
    . : | : . : | : . tim
So when I run the Cluster Aware Updating program, I get a dropdown box where I can choose which cluster I want to connect to.  I pick one of them and then click Apply Updates and go through the wizard.  This then starts that cluster updating and
I can sit and watch it install, reboot, etc.
While that's running, if I try to change the cluster I'm viewing to start the updates on the second cluster, I get an warning box that if I connect to the other cluster, the first cluster will stop updating which is not what I want.  I just wanted a
way that I can kick off updates on one cluster and then kick them off on another cluster so they'd both be going at the same time.

  • How to find SQLServer Virtual Cluster name for multiple servers?

    Hi Team,
I have a huge clustered environment and have a document that shows all the Physical Node Names in the clusters. But unfortunately we do not have the Virtual Server Names. I know, we can only connect to SQL through Virtual Name so I would like to know if there
is an automated way to find the Virtual Cluster Names (or SQL Server Name). Like using PowerShell or other programming languages. I have tried looking at several forums but did that did not help.
    Some points to think:
    1) I know we can look it up by opening Failover Cluster Manager (FCM) but I have hundreds of servers. So that doesn't really help :(
    2) I have tried Get-ClusterResource cmdlet in Powershell, it gives all the resources that are running but not the name. Like it gives "SQL Server  (MSSQLSERVER)" and not the name.
    3) Also I know we can find out using tsql command, SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('SERVERNAME') but again I cannot connect to SQL without the Virtual Name :)
I am pretty sure there should me a way to find it out using scrips since we are able to know it using GUI (FCM).
    Really appreciate your help !!

    Hi,
In addition, you can find the names of the Cluster , Individual Node Names and SQL Virtual Server Names in the registry. Use the PowerShell command to retrieve registry key values.
The following keys can be used to get the information:
    Virtual Server Name
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\CLUSTER\ClusterName
    Node Names
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\CLUSTER\NODES\1\NodeName
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\CLUSTER\NODES\2\NodeName
    SQL Virtual Server Name:
    HEKY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\MSSQLSERVER\CLUSTER\ClusterName

  • Maintaince view creation for a cluster table

    Hi friends,
I have created a maintaince view for a cluster table bseg and i have activated it its working fine..
now my problem is i can create maintaince view for mutiple tables if other tables are linked with primary table using foriegn key relationship..
Now can any one tell me is it possible to create maintance view for cluster table with multiple tables as i need a linked table with bseg which iam not able to get... ie : when i click on the relationship tab iam not getting the linked tables for bseg...
now can i create a maintaince view with 2 linked cluster tables..
if so can any one tell me how to create it.
As sap says we can create projection view for cluster and pooled table and we cannot create database view for cluster and pooled tables , but it does not mentioned like that for maintaince view....
I assume we can do it.... as iam trying to create a maintaince view with single cluster table then it shoudl allow me to create for multiple linked cluster tables.... and is it mandatory to maintain TMG for this maintaince view....?
    Regards
    KUMAR

yes.. ur right inserting values into a cluster table other than standard sap tarnactions is dangerious....
But sap didnot mentioned any where that we cannot maintain data for cluster tables using maintaince view... which it said for database view..that pooled and cluster table cannot be used for database view..

  • Patchset3 (11.1.1.4/wls 10.3.4) Remote debugging JDPA in weblogic cluster

    Hi,
I am using Patchset3 (JDeveloper 11.1.1.4/ weblogic server 10.3.4). I was wondering how i can remote debug with
    a) weblogic managed server that is part of a weblogic cluster
    b) the cluster itself that contains multiple managed servers.
Note that i do understand how to remote debug against a weblogic server (e.g. http://jdeveloperfaq.blogspot.com/2009/12/faq-4-how-to-remote-debug-adf.html), but have not been able to find out how i can achieve this against a cluster that has multiple managed servers. Any directions will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
haven't tried it but here are some suggestions that might be of help:
    1) Each managed server for each cluster node should be setup for remote debugging. This means that each managed server must be started with the -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=4000,server=y,suspend=n* options in the WebLogic start-up script. Also Tunneling must be enabled for each managed server for each cluster node.
    2) Make sure that you specify a different connection port for each managed server. This is indicated by the address* specifier above.
    3) It seems logical to me that you will need to start separate instances of JDeveloper - one for each managed server that you need to attach to.
Let us know how it turns out,
    Nick

  • Weblogic cluster

All,Could anyone pls. provide me some information on how to setup a cluster across the multiple machines ? Any documentation which talks about cluster configuration etc.... or your thoughts..I am using Weblogic 6.0 on Solaris. Thanks for your help in advance!-Mohan

You need an IP for every instance you want to run regardless
              of managed or admin.
So from the sounds of it, you need 3.
You don't need separate NIC cards, only IP's.
              These can be virtual.
Here is a for example. Call Box X ren call Box Y stimpy
This will be the machine names in the admin console.
Set up Servers in the console.
There should be one called myserver (unless you changed it)
DO NOT CLONE!!! there appears to be a bug.
              Call server 1 app1 and server 2 app2.
              app1 is box x (ren)
              app2 is box y (stimpy)
Assign listen address ips (these will be the machine ip's for
              this, real or virtual)
listen port, keep it 7001. all three will run on this.
Also set up a cluster in the machine console.
Assgin the cluster address as ren, stimpy or whatever the real
              mahcine names are.
              set multicast (237.0.0.1) works.
There are limits for this, I am unsure what they are exactly (range)
              that is it
              startManagedWebLogic.cmd app1 http://10.255.2.98:7001
              startManagedWebLogic.cmd app2 http://10.255.2.98:7001
where 10.255.2.98 is the admin server.
wala, you are running a cluster.
              see if that all works.
              later,

  • Can I have multiple desktop pictures in Lion

I notice I can but when i delete one desktop it goes back to my original, is there a setting for this, thanks

    Hi,
The questions is realated to invoking external servcies from your composite (references), not deploying you composite to a cluster and have multiple endpoints for your exposed services? Besides using a (dedicated) load-balancer in front of your cluster, OSB also provides a load-balancing feature for business services (that is if you use OSB and have your services exposed through OSB). See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/dev.1111/e15866.pdf.

  • 10.3, how to configure cluster as "single Weblogic server"

    Hello,
We have a Cluster with Two Managed servers. The ports for the MS's are 7002, 7003. We want deployments for these servers to be visible through port 80/443. Currently we have Mapviewer application deployed and targeted to the cluster. All servers are RUNNING and the deployment is active. However we are only able to access the deployment on ports 7002, 7003.
The documentation states: "A WebLogic Server cluster consists of multiple WebLogic Server server instances running simultaneously and working together to provide increased scalability and reliability. A cluster appears to clients to be a single WebLogic Server instance."
But nowhere does it state how to get a cluster to appear as a "single Weblogic server instance". Where does this happen in the admin console or config files? Perhaps its a node manager function? Please help. Thank you.

Thank you. I was beginning to think it was something external to Weblogic. I saw alot in the docs about Load Balancing within Weblogic but didn't read much into it. I'm assuming its more at the application level? Anyhow..
Reading the description of the FrontEndHttpPort config option for Clusters made me think it was the solution:
"Sets the FrontendHTTPPort for the default webserver (not virtual hosts) for all the servers in the cluster. Provides a method to ensure that the webapp will always have the correct PORT information, even when the request is coming through a firewall or a proxy. If this parameter is configured, the HOST header will be ignored and the information in this parameter will be used in its place, when constructing the absolute urls for redirects."
I would set FrontendHTTPPort to 80, restart everything and get strange results. If I typed in http://localhost:7003/mapviewer it will redirect browser to http://localhost/mapviewer/faces/home.jspx and give a 404 type error. Using this new URL if I inserted the :7003 port again and hit go, the page would come up...but submitting a form or link on the page it would redirect back to port 80 and a 404 error. edit: this is probably working as intended.
So is there a popular solution or plugin for this issue?

  • "Multiple Instances

Using NT 4.0 as the platform, IIS 4.0 as the web servers, and Weblogic Clustering. Can I run multiple instances on each of the two WLS Cluster Servers to cluster four IIS web servers? Does anyone have any recommendations for accomplishing this? Thanks,

You can run multiple instances of IIS( in frontend cluster) and weblogic server (in . backend cluster) However for multiple wls servers running on the same machine and members of same cluster , have to listen to same port, so to run multiple WLS instances,
you must use same port for all wls instances. You can bind them to different addresses using multihoming.
In such case, configure cluster with machines and replication groups to choose 2ndry on a physicall different machine
              Hope this helps

  • Weblogic cluster limit

Is there a limit on number of clusters? if it is then how far can the number of clusters be extended.
    Thank you.

I think the main limits on the number of clusters and servers in a cluster are hardware resources.
As each weblogic server is just a java process depending on the resources of your box you can configure and run as many as you want.
    From bea docs:
A WebLogic Server cluster consists of multiple WebLogic Server server instances running simultaneously and working together to provide increased scalability and reliability. A cluster appears to clients to be a single WebLogic Server instance. The server instances that constitute a cluster can run on the same machine, or be located on different machines. You can increase a cluster's capacity by adding additional server instances to the cluster on an existing machine, or you can add machines to the cluster to host the incremental server instances. Each server instance in a cluster must run the same version of WebLogic Server.
I am not aware of any hard limits on servers in a cluster or number of clusters.
IMHO I guess in any particular domain it is not a good idea to have more than a few clusters. Instead you should create multiple domains with related clusters in them.

  • DAQ Assistant to typedef data cluster

    Hi All,
I was hoping someone could be able to shed some light on an issue I have been pulling my hair on for a week now.  I am recently new to LabView (less than 6 months), and up until I have been able to locate/research any issues I had ran into.  The problem I'm having is as follows:
Basically, I am using an SCXI-1581 and an SCXI-1102B (along with multiple other pieces of hardware) for a device we are creating.  Generating the signals with the DAQ Assistant was quite simple.  The problem I am running into is finding a way to relay these signals to an array or cluster, so that multiple other subvi's can quickly just "Unbundle by Name" to wire to their specified indicators on each page.  I have tried arrays, clusters, typedef's, etc to no avail and I'm not sure where else to look for help.  Unbundling the typedef cluster onto the subvi's works like a charm, the problem is the typedef ctl is not getting any data sent to it so the indicators on the SubVI's never receive a value other than the 0 located in the cluster typedef.  If there is a better way to go about doing this I would sure appreciate the help.
Breakdown:  I have 41 thermistors being generated from the DAQ Assistant.  I need to somehow convert this data into a form where it will be able to be constantly updated and read from a typedef/global/something.  I have taken a screenshot of what I was working on when I decided to post here.  There are broken wires atm, because I was trying everything I could think of.  Signal Manipulation/From DDT, Array to Cluster, Build Cluster by Name, Build Array, numerous things.  I basically want all 41 thermistors to leave the DAQ Assistant, be split by channel name/value, and input into an array or cluster that can become global.  I have broken it down to 4 channels in my screenshot for simplicity's sake.
My apologies for repeating myself or running on, I'm working on very little sleep at the moment
I appreciate any help anyone can shed on the situation.  Thank you!

I didn't have it connected in that particular screenshot but I have tried that before.  I just redid that scenario and took another screenshot.  Bringing a cluster typedef and dropping it in, switching to indicator so it will allow an input, and changing the Original Cluster Visible property to FALSE (just so two clusters of 4 Numeric Indicators are not visible).  Using the attached screenshot, the numeric values do update (on the front panel of this VI), but as soon as I connect that typedef to another VI and unbundle, those values do not populate on the subVI.  I changed the DAQ Assistant in this current example (to test)  as I am at home and do not have the 1581/1102B hardware here with me.
I will note that I do have this functionality working on another section of the GUI I am working on.  This working portion has 8 Boolean values in a typedef cluster and is exported and unbundled in the same manner as I am trying to get working with these data values on the subVI.  The way that the values get sent to the typedef is different but overall the same way that I would like to aim for on the DAQ_Cluster2 image.  Two screenshots enclosed this time.  I can go into much further detail if necessary.  Thanks again for the feedback.  I'm going to knock out some more of the pages involved for now, if anyone has any more feedback that would be fantastic.
Also aeastet thank you for your reply as well.  I started reading through your link to Ben's nugget but my brain is mush right now and I am not too familiar at all with some of that functionality.  I will look back at it more soon.
    Thanks again!
