Cluster resource going comatose because of CIFS

Hello,
I'm doing a rolling cluster conversion from Netware to OES 11. While
everything else works fine now, there are problems with cluster resources
which have CIFS enabled: they go comatose most every time when migrated or
switched online. But sometimes it works and the go online.
In the load.out file I see these lines:
"Adding a Virtual Server is
failed
Error: Unknown, error number: 168"
Any idea what goes wrong?
Thanks,
Mirko

Hi,
I did not monitor the cifs.log while doing all the testing and of course I
do not remember the exact times; but I think those are the lines when
everything is all right:
Mar 1 18:31:19 fs1 CIFS[13602]: EVENT: RPC: Received Mount Volume RPC:

And here is an example of lines were it failes were I again see the error

Seems to be NDS related. But I don't think it's a general problem, because
sometimes it works. I think the tree is healty, iMonitor Treewide Report
reports everythink OK.
Thanks,
Mirko

• Cluster resource goes comatose error 20892

Hi,
We've got a problem with 2 new cluster nodes, when trying to migrate a pol on to them the cluster resource goes comatose.
In the /var/opt/novell/log/ncs/ resource.load.out
we see an error 20892.
That is nss /poolact=res fails because the server thinks the resource is used by another cluster node. That is not the case.
I've read the TID about that error but there it was said that this issue is fixed with ncpserv later than Jan 10.
The node in question is OES2SP3 and ncpserv is 2.0.3-0.21 (May 2011).
If i do a "cluster status" it shows the resource running on another node, but wwhen I try and migrate the resource it goes comatose.
We are running a mixed cluster (4* NW6.5SP8, 1 OES2SP2 (which works), 2 OES2SP3 (don't work)).
Where to look next?
Regards,
Bettina

I am trying to make sure I understand this. So you do not use the afpbind in
you cluster scripts and afp continues to work without issue? That just seems
strange that it would work. I will have to test this myself if I am
understanding you correctly.

• The cluster resource 'SQL Server' could not be brought online error while in completion stage of sql server 2012 failover installation

While installing sql server 2012 with failover clustering I got the following error:
The cluster resource 'SQL Server' could not be brought online. Error: There was a failure to call cluster code from a provider. Exception message: Generic failure. Status code: 5942. Description: The resource failed to come online due to the failure of one
or more provider resources.
The two nodes of the sql server failover have been successfully prepared. The error came while running the advance cluster completion option.
In the clustered events in failover cluster manager the following message is displayed:
Cluster resource 'SQL Network Name (CPCTestSQLClus)' of type 'Network name' in clustered role 'SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)' failed.
I have done various checking and the issue remained. I tried to start the sql

Please find below part of the content of the cluster log. I hope this is helpful in resolving the issue:

• The cluster resource could not be found-SAP ECC on Windows Server 2008 MSCS

Hi,
I'm installing SAP ECC 6.0 on Windows server 2008 MSCS Cluster. As mentioned in the guide, i've created a service and added a resource.
I was able to successfully configure the DB installation and cluster configuration. But when I start the ASCS installation, the installation fails when it tries to create system folders with the following error.
Error when sharing file system export (share) saploc : The cluster resource could not be found
I'm using a user with domain admin access and also a member of the local administrators group. I've even tried to install using the domain administrator user but still the problem exists.
Can anyone please let me know where am I going wrong ?
NB: The host on which I'm installing is not a domain controller but it is a member of a domain.
Regards,
Varadharajan M

Yes Krishna,
I've not created any shared folders manually and I've used the "Use domain of current user" option.
Actually SAPINST has created the usr and sap folder in the SAP drive (say E: drive) which is a clustered disk. The name of that clustered sidk is "Clustered Disk 1". I could able to open up the shared directories available in that SAP virtual host by issuing
<SAPGRP>. I don't know where am I going wrong:( I've also opened a call with a SAP and waiting for their reply.

Varadharajan M

• SCVMM 2012 R2 RU3 - Live storage migration failing with error 12711 if cluster resource name is not in form of "SCVMM vmname "

At the end of live storage migration in SCVMM 2012 R2 RU3 getting error:
Error (12711)
VMM cannot complete the WMI operation on the server (hypervhost1.domain.local) because of an error: [MSCluster_Resource.Name="SCVMM test-vm"] The cluster resource could not be found.
The cluster resource could not be found (0x138F)
Recommended Action
Resolve the issue and then try the operation again.
Storage migration actually succeeds and after Repair/Ignore and Refresh, the VM shows up ok in VMM, with the VHD in new location.
If VM is offline, storage migration always succeeds. Live (non-storage) migration always succeeds.
I noticed in the error message that it searches for cluster resource name "SCVMM test-vm" and for some VMs I've got different cluster resource names.
Like for this VM cluster resource names are:
Virtual Machine test-vm
Virtual Machine Configuration test-vm
Furthermore, those resource names are showing up correctly in [VirtualManagerDB].[dbo].[tbl_WLC_VMInstance] table, columns VMResource and VMConfigResource.
Anyone knows why SCVMM keeps searching for "SCVMM test-vm" and how to fix this without recreating cluster resources?

Ok, you have the same problem and same configuration that this post:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/853c021f-dd0a-4d88-a7c1-72bb8d4d0591/hyperv-cluster-live-migration-does-not-work-anymore-after-ur5-installation?forum=virtualmachingmgrhyperv#b5ae914f-7b52-4cea-86ef-a64ce4b32bb0
This problem occurs will old and new vm?

• Cluster resource Hang

Hi
We have 3 Node Hyperv 2012 R2 Failover Cluster suddenly we face below error on one Node.
A component on the server did not respond in a timely fashion. This caused the cluster resource 'Virtual Machine Configuration (resource type 'Virtual Machine Configuration', DLL 'vmclusres.dll') to exceed its time-out threshold. As part of cluster
health detection, recovery actions will be taken. The cluster will try to automatically recover by terminating and restarting the Resource Hosting Subsystem (RHS) process that is running this resource. Verify that the underlying infrastructure (such as storage,
networking, or services) that are associated with the resource are functioning correctly.

Hi jingoi,
“Refer to the System event log to determine which resource and resource DLL is causing the issue” from the literal meaning of view we can get a cluster resource crash or not
responding, since the current information we can not determine which component may crash you can get the cluster log to determine which cluster resource has issue first.
Some folk meet this similar issue because they have not install the following update and got vmclusters.dll deadlock, please install them first then monitor this issue again.

• Cluster resource authorizations

Is there anyway to limit a role to only control specific cluster resource groups? I want to give application admins the capability to take their resource groups offline or switch nodes. If I add the solaris.cluster.admin authorization, it will still give them access to all resources even though I limit the commands that they can run. They can still use the clrg command to shutdown all resources.

Thanks Tim. I have actually done that. I have created a script to switch the resource from one node to the secondary node and gave the role access to this script. The script runs the clrg switch command for the specific resources. But to allow the role to run the script, I had to grant the role the solaris.cluster.admin authorization. Because of this, the role now can run the clrg switch from the command line. Am I missing something with this? Here are the pertinent info:
$ profiles ddradm
ASG Admin
ASG Commands
All
Basic Solaris User
$ grep ASG prof_attr
ASG Admin:::ASG Administrators:auths=solaris.cluster.admin;profiles=ASG Commands
ASG Commands:::ASG Admin Commands:
$ grep ASG exec_attr
ASG Admin:solaris:cmd:::/zones/rbac/asg/asg_switch_primary_bcp.sh:uid=0
ASG Admin:solaris:cmd:::/zones/rbac/asg/asg_switch_primary_prod.sh:uid=0
ASG Admin:solaris:cmd:::/zones/rbac/asg/asg_switch_primary_qa.sh:uid=0
If I did not grant the solaris.cluster.admin auth to the profile, the script fails when it tries to run the clrg switch command.

• Solaris Cluster is going open-source!

I'm pleased to announce that Solaris Cluster is going open-source! Here are the
details:
Official announcement:
http://www.sun.com/featured-articles/2007-0627/feature/index.jsp?intcmp=hp2007jun27_cluster_read
We initiated a new HA Clusters community group on opensolaris.org: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/ha-clusters/
The Solaris Cluster source code base is called Open High Availability (HA) Cluster. See:
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/ha-clusters/ohac/
The Solaris Cluster code is released under the Community Development and Distribution License (CDDL). It is browsable via OpenGrog:
http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/ohac/
The first release, on June 27, contains the source for almost all the Solaris Cluster agents. The current list of open-source agents can be found at :http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/ha-clusters/ohac/Documentation/open-agents/
We have also released the source-code for the Dataservices Automated Test Suite
(DATS), which tests the Solaris Cluster Agents code. DATS is part of the Solaris Cluster Automated Test Environment (SCATE).
CTI for TET, which is part of the SCATE test infrastructure, has been separately open-sourced on the testing community under the Artistic License. This framework supports both Solaris Cluster and ON test suites: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/testing/
We're committing to open-source the full Solaris Cluster product over the next 18 months, including the agents, core, Geographic Edition, test suites, and docs.
Check out the HA Clusters community (http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/ha-clusters/) and the associated discussion group (http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/forum.jspa?forumID=195).
We are looking forward for contributions and engagement with the community!
Greetings
Thorsten

2.) The Chinese government found ways to listen in on Skype, and I'm sure others have too. The protocol is NOT secure.
It may not be the protocol, they have a different skype version, TOM Skype (if I'm not wrong if they try to open the skype page they get redirected there), which bundles or used to bundle an extra program that filtered forbidden words, but this was even before it got transmitted so the protocol doesn't matter (yet).
I guess they have also demanded for a way to eavesdrop on calls so maybe an extra something is added that will allow someone with the right keys to decrypt the communications (I'm thinking about something on the lines of mail encryption, you add the public key of the other person and your own public key so you can decrypt it later, if a third key is somehow added without your knowledge a third party can also decrypt it).
On the rest I have to agree, I'd like to use something that gets more regular updates and can be scrutinized by anyone but ... when you have contacts that use skype that have other contacts that also use skype .... you can't just say from now on I'll use just -insert name here- because skype is not really keeping up and force everyone else to change (even though some contacts don't really care what they use as long as it works well).

• Windows server 2012 failover cluster error: Cluster resource 'Virtual Machine Configuration ... of type 'Virtual machine configuration in clustered role ... failed.

I have two windows 2012 host server that are clustered using windows failover cluster feature. Each server is hosting four VMs. When migrating from Host2 to Host1, the migration failed with the following error:
Cluster resource 'Virtual Machine Configuration SCPCSQLSRV01' of type 'Virtual Machine Configuration' in clustered role 'SCPCSQLSRV01' failed. The error code was '0x569' ('Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.').
When this happens, the VM that I was migrating can no longer be started even on the original host. The only remedy is to restart the host server.
Any suggestion on resolving this problem?
Thanks
Ikad

Thanks. The article referred to above gives the solution to my issue. There is a group policy that is applied to the OU where the host servers were placed. Doing gpupdate /force temporarily removes the problem. Unfortunately the NT Virtual Machine\Virtual
Machines account is a special account that cannot be added like other accounts and granted the log on as a service right. The thread
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverhyperv/thread/d56f2eae-726e-409a-8813-670a406593e8 contains how it can be added which is by creating a group and running the command
Net localgroup VMTest “NT Virtual Machine\Virtual Machines” /add
to add it to a local group VMTest. VMTest is then assigned the right to log on as a service.

• Cluster RESOURCE how can I get clusterowner (preferred Owner List) in readable mode from Powershell?

Hello,
I'm trying to list the Preferred Owner list of some cluster Resources, but we have many nodes and the output is not readable from powershell if I use the standard command but it shows somethink like {server1, server2,.....}
Then I've tried to get the output in table mode, but I don't know how to get it.
I'd like to have something like:
"Cluster Resource name"    "PrefOwner1","PrefOwner2","PrefOwner3" .......
I've done
get-clusterresource
|
Where{$_.resourcetype
-match
"MyResourceType"}
|
get-clusterownernode | select clusterobject,,@{n='PrefOwners';e={$_.ownernodes
-join","}}
|ft-a
This code is working, but I would like to know if could do more easy or more simply.

(Event Viewer logs cleared, Analysis services is working on the same physical servers in a different cluster, and the registry entries was only a supported issue for SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bring up Configuration Manager, look at binary path for SSAS. Make sure BOTH folders exist. Sometimes with failovers mappings get screwed up.

Ok .... My partner is going mad because he is convinced I have tried to access his iPad 4. He typed in the wrong pass code just once and it has disabled itself for 5 mins leaving him convinced that I have tried to get into it . I haven't. He is really angry and I've done nothing . Now he has turned the wifi off and my kids can't play their xboxes .
Is this a glitch possible on ipad4?
What other possible causes are there?
The iPad has been banged screen down on hard surface a couple of times..... Could this attribute to the issue?
Please will someone answer me? He wont believe me and I haven't touched anything

If the iPad has been "banged down on hard surface" it is possible that just a touch of the screen, or coming near the screen, may have resulted in a false entry. Or it could be the kids.
Either way you need to dump your partner and get your kids out of that environment. Your partner has anger management issues and needs counseling.
