    =======================
I see in the above log that saying ASM instance is down and failed to open +DATA .
But the asm instance up and running
    SQL> select instance_name,status from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME STATUS
    +ASM1            STARTED
And we havent created any disk named DATA before the installation. We have created only below two disks
    SQL> select name,header_status from v$asm_disk;
    NAME HEADER_STATUS
    ASM_DATA MEMBER
    FLASH_RECOVERY MEMBER
But I am seeing a diskgroup in the v$asm_diskgroup which we havent created.
    SQL> select name,state from v$asm_diskgroup;
    NAME STATE
    DATA MOUNTED
Ya this is a second time installtion. In the first installtion we created the asmdisk as DATA. But later everything (RAW device ) was formatted and this new disks has been created and installtion again started
    [root@SFV9699 bin]# oracleasm listdisks
    ASM_DATA
    FLASH_RECOVERY
Seems like its trying to read the old disk DATA.
we have done asmscanning too with oracleasm scan disks. but no use.
Where I can remove the old entry of DATA disk.
It would be a great if a quick response get.
    Thanks
    SHIYAS M

The permission looks fine. If it was permission issue then y it is trying to read the DATA disk which I havent created this time at all ( But created in the first installation).

  • Error while installing Oracle Cluster Ready Services – Release 1 (10.1.0.2)

    Hi all,
I am trying for RAC – 10gR1 (10.1.0.2) using two machines with Windows 2000 Server. For this I need to install Oracle Cluster Ready Services – Release 1 (10.1.0.2).
    Machine details are as follows:-

    Computer Name:     RAC1
    Windows 2000 IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2: (Used for Public Interface)

Also you clusterware installation installs to an ORACLE_HOME.
Oracle does only make a differentiation, if it has to be clear, that you got a clusterware home and a database home.
Normally if a patch is referring to $ORACLE_HOME (and the patch can be used for clusterware & database), it just means the installation directory of the oracle software installed.

    thanks.

    Hi,
after the crsctl start crs you have to wait a while till the clusterstack is up. You just issued crsctl check crs a little to early.
To see the startup stack do a crsctl stat res -t -init.
If not everything in crsctl stat res -t -init goes to online after a while, then you have a problem, which has to be analyzed.
However if crsctl stat res -t -init show everything is started use crsctl stat res -t to see the other processes coming online.
Can you post the crsctl stat res -t -init (if not everything is online) or a crsctl stat res -t.
Only thing which I find strange is that oifcfg does not list a PUBLIC interface...

  • ORA-29701: unable to connect to Cluster Synchronization Service

Hi, I'm working on an Oracle 11.2 EE on a RedHat 5.4.
I installed the Grid Infrastructure to work with ASM.
While starting ASM instance I got this error:
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
ORA-29701: unable to connect to Cluster Synchronization Service
I tried to start the resource wiht:
    $ crsctl start resource -all
CRS-4639: Could not contact Oracle High Availability Services
CRS-4000: Command Start failed, or completed with errors.
    Then i tried this:
    $ crsctl start has
CRS-4124: Oracle High Availability Services startup failed.
CRS-4000: Command Start failed, or completed with errors.
Do you have any suggestion on how start the CSS?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
it was just a metter of the run level.
As soon as I set it to 5 everything started to work.

  • Linux server logs Cluster Ready Services completed waiting on dependencies

    hi all
we run oracle 10g RAC on two nodes of SLES 10 SP2 Itanium.
on node 1 of the db node I see this message.
Mar 13 15:35:03 odbs1 logger: Cluster Ready Services completed waiting on dependencies.
This message has appeared for the second time in 3 days. the server is behaving normally. Could someone please let me know what exactly is the cause.
i tried to google a bit but i am not an expert in RAC
Could someone please let me know if this is a major issue or is it a generic message for something

    Hi,
It means that the CRS not came up on startup and you put it online manualy.
Check your ocssd.log for messages like it
    [ CSSD]2007-09-13 15:43:00.038 [1147169120] >TRACE: clsc_send_msg: (0x7271b0) NS err(12571, 12560), transport (530, 113, 0)
If they exists, the explanation is: The network on OS startup is slower than CRS and the CRS cannot communicate with others nodes with interconnect. To avoid split brain problem, it kills himself causing automatic start of CRS fails.
This problem could be solved add a sleep on /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/SXXXinit.crs before line $ID/init.cssd autostart. Try sleep 15, sleep 20 and test restart of node.
You can see it on My Oracle Suporte note ID 459169.1
    I hope it helps!!

  • Oracle Cluster Ready Service

    Hi
I am using Ora10gR1 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9. I am getting the following message in /var/log/messages
Aug 27 09:48:41 (none) logger: Oracle Cluster Ready Services disabled by corrupt install
Aug 27 09:48:41 (none) logger: Could not access /etc/oracle/scls_scr/ohare/root/crsstart.
I did not install CRS. Can you help?
    Thx

    Hi,
These don't have any affect on your database. If you want to disable these messages then comment following line in the inittab file
    #h1:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.cssd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null

  • Cluster ready services also for download?

    Hi,
additionally to Oracle Database 10g (for Solaris) download, is it possible to download also "Cluster REady Services Release 1 CD-ROM"?
    Hi
    Michal

Bring up the big Downloads page. (Big red button in the heading gets you there)
Nowadays the product's called Clusterware, because "With Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2), Cluster Ready Services, or CRS, is now called Oracle Clusterware.".

  • Want to cluster windows service without IP address

    Environment
Two nodes configured clustered on windows2008R2
    Query
I want to cluster windows service without IP address. Actually I want to cluster around 7 windows services but when we configure the service to cluster, it also ask to put IP address with it. But I dont want to access these services via IP addresses. I just
want to switchover these services. How could I do that.
Any comment will be appreciated. Thanks. Zahid Haseeb.

    No, Its is not possible.
Without IP address, how will you access the services?
You need a dedicated IP address for each high availability service and application you are trying to configure.
See Dave's explanation for the below post

  • Does SUN CLUSTER WARE support ASM?

Does SUN CLUSTER WARE support ASM?
Where can I find the answer ? Thanks.

I am not an expert but here it goes. Sun Cluster is used for clustering machines processes but NOT really used for clustering disks. This has to be done through third party software like Veritas. BUT why Sun Cluster the machines when you can cluster via Oracle CRS? CRS then uses ASM for clustered disks. Bingo you save money on Sun Cluster Software and Veritas software.
One day Oracle will rule the world!

  • Cluster Ready Services installation stall

At the final step, when asked to execute:
    /u02/oradata/orcl/root.sh
as the root user, I get the following output:
    Adding daemons to inittab
Preparing Oracle cluster Ready Services (CRS):
At this point, the script hangs indefinitely. I ran the script with "sh -x ./root.sh" and found that the script actuall is STALLING at this step:
    + /etc/init.d/init.crs start
Preparing Oralce Cluster Ready Services (CRS):
    + /sbin/init q
    + /etc/init.d/init.cssd startcheck
I've attempted an install on 2 seperate computers running both WhiteBox Linux 3 as well as Centos OS 3.4 with no luck.
Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

I don't know, why this happens, I have only a kind of workaround.
If you don't use Real Application Cluster and/or ASM (Automatic Storage Management) , you don't need CRS. So you could modify root.sh to exclude all CRS configuration and start statements.
