Clustered Environment - Changing from Public Network to Private Network

I have a clustered environment where the database sits on one node and the central instance sits on the other node. We just found out that somehow the communication between the database and central instance has been changed to talk over the public network instead of the private network. We don't know who did it or why.
So, my question is what do I need to do in SAP to accomodate the changing back to using the private network? Do I need to change system names in the profiles? Are there any gotchas on doing this? Are there any documents on doing this?
Thanks for any information you can provide on this topic.
Thanks,

This is most likely a name resolving problem.
If you ping <name> from one server to the other, which network is used?

  • Jabber login from public network not working

    Hello all,
i am trying to register jabebr from public network with use of EXP-C and E.
    but facing below error:

thanks fro your response to correct me with configuration.
    1) Configuration as it pertains to the design on the Expressways
i applied as per design and still open all ports between firewall for jabber.
    2) Firewall blocking the UDP traffic.
if no rule define, how can it block and what need to configure for jabber with audio?
First question to you is are you using Single NIC or Dual NIC on the Expressway-E?
    i am using single NIC.
If you are doing a Single NIC design and will have a private IP for the Expressway-E you must fulfill these 4 requirements
    1)    Static NAT Mode Enabled on the IP Configuration page of the Exp-E
i will enable it on EXPE>.
    2)    Static NAT Address Configured on the IP page of the Exp-E
what need to EXPE for this NAT option?
    3)    Expressway-C must resolve the Expressway-E FQDN to the Public IP, not the private
if this is resolving private ip, would be any problem?
    4)    NAT Reflection (Hairpinning) must be configured on the firewall so that traffic from the Expressway-C can be sent to the Expressway-E public IP and that can be redirected to the Expressway-E private IP. Please note not all firewalls support this functionality
please tell me how can enable NAT reflection on firewall to working it?
    thanks

  • Change from Hidden Network to one that shows?

How do I change my "hidden network" settings? I hid my wifi network and now I can't find a way to make it show. I have a friend with a pc who wants to connect to my network when he's here but my network is hidden and doesn't show up on his laptop. How do I return it to the original setting when my network shows (or how do I tell a PC user how to log onto a hidden network?) He doesn't seem to have an option to enter the name and password of any network. Just those that are not hidden are available to him and we can't access those as they are locked. Thanks.

You can "unhide" the AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) wireless network via the AirPort Utility.
(ref: AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless > Wireless Options > Create a closed network (uncheck))

  • Server 2012 R2 - Change network location from public to private

I am having an issue with changing Network location to private from Public on Server 2012 R2 X64 .
Please note all the reference for previous servers for fixing this issue  does not work on 2012 R2.
I am using Static-IP and "Workgroup" as domain setting.
In 2012 server by Right  clicking on Network and Turn sharing on or OFF worked but in 2012- R2 Right click is not working not providing turn sharing ON or OFF option.

Check if you can change from here :
Run -- Gpedit.msc-- Open Computer configration -->Windows Settings -->Security Settings -->select Network list manager policies

  • Windows 7 RC - I can't change my network from public to work

After a lot of job, I connected my W7 beta PC with my XP PC, but when I upgrade to W7 RC, I am unable to do this.
I have two net adapters: one linked to the internet cable modem and it is OK (public network). The other linked with a switch but W7 assigned this as unknown public network and I can't change it to home or work network. In W7 beta I assign a work network and it worked.
    Thanks.

    SOLUTION :
WINDOWS 7 WILL AUTOMATICALLY TAG THE CONNECTION AS UNDEFINED NETWORK WHEN IT IS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE TYPE OF THE CONNECTION AND YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CHANGE THE NAME AND TYPE OF THE NETWORK
    The possible reasons are :
    a. You are connecting to a network with TCP/IP configuration to automatic but the network doesn't have a DHCP server;
    b. You configured the TCP/IP manually with static values but didn't specify a Default Gateway;
    The possibles solutions are :
    a. you are using dynamic IP, so you have to set up a software DHCP server on the 2nd subnet
    b. you are using static IP, so set up a default gateway on the 2nd subnet NIC
    ( Source : http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-networking/4416-how-change-network-type-2.html  )
    Hope this helps ^^
This solution works -- but unfortunately it requires the other network adapter to be on DHCP. If you want two adapters with fixed IP, you get messages that having two default gateways "does not work properly".  I tried it anyway -- this resulted in an unreachable internet via router. This all is in Win 7 RC, I will try it on a RTM (Ultimate) in a few moments, but I'm not expecting an improvement.
There is one thing you can do to ignore the problem without most of the negative aspects: turn off the firewall for your "private" network adapter. I don't see much danger here as that's roughly what would happen anyway if you could set it to private.
Having one line set to DHCP (to the router) and the other to use fixed IP will also not be without side effects. Suppose the DHCP line is only 100 Mb, while the internal net uses 1Gb. This will result in all network trafic using a computer name to pass via the 100 Mb line, which is probably not what you wanted. Maybe you could remedy that with a route command; but I have not succeeded in a non-temporary solution to this as the routes are not kept across reboots -- any help welcome.
Getting a DHCP server into this business will also not solve the problem, because then this computer needs to be online all the time, which is not what I would want. If your router (like mine) provides DHCP, you also get problems, because having two DHCPs will usually get you into trouble (this I read from other posts, never did it myself.)
Whoever is responsible for this mess at Microsoft should either provide a very good explanation or preferably fix it as fast as possible.
Maybe I don't understand you, but, if I have a router I don't need to use two adapters, I simply use the router as server and connect all of my computers to it.

  • Changing access specifier from public to private has no effect at runtime

    The scenario is like this.
I have two classes A and B and from B i am calling some public methods on A. Until now everything is okay. Now i am changing the access from public to private for the methods in A and recompile it (i'm compiling only A).
The point is, I am not making any change to B, which is still referring to the methods in A, whic are now private .
What will happen if now i try to invoke the above methods on A through B ?? Class A should not allow that, since it is private now. But I am able to access those methods from B!!!
Any idea why it is occurring?????
Now if I try to compile B(note that i didn't compile it earlier along with A), it will throw a error saying that B is trying to access methods which have private access in A, which is right...

Nowadays (April 2004) this is still the case, I ran into this behavior today and had a long discussion on it on some java irc channel, but nobody really seemed to know what is exactly going on.
My questions: This access-checking seems to occur only at compile time. Is there a document or whatever notice from sun describing this? Is performance the only reason to do such a thing?

  • VPN Connection Seen As Public Network In Windows 8.1 & No Way To Change It?

    Hello,
I have a perfectly working VPN setup in Windows 7 however since I have got a Windows 8 computer and subsequently upgraded it to 8.1 when I connect to the VPN it assigns the connection as Public and I cannot view any of the network shares.
As I understand it, in Windows 8 you could go into the network section of Change PC Settings, right click over the VPN and enable sharing which would convert the public network type to private however there is no longer this option to enable sharing in 8.1
So I'm left with having to disable the public firewall and then connect to the VPN where it works perfectly but is a bit of a pain.
I'm hoping someone can help me to change the network type of the VPN connection from Public to Private, unfortunately the laptop runs Windows 8.1 Home Premium so I do not have access to gpedit.msc
    Hope someone can help.
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Based on my knowledge, we can use the following method to change the network type of connection from Public to Private.
Set Network to be Private in Windows 8 and 8.1 in Registry
1.Press Win + R keys to open the Run dialog, type regedit, and press Enter.
2.In Registry Editor, navigate to the location below:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles
3.Expand Profiles, click on each long GUID number subkey, and look at its PofileName string value in the right pane to see if it has the current network name (ex: Network) until found.
4.When you find the correct PofileName for your network name, double click/tap on the Category DWORD value in the same right pane to modify it.
5.Type in a new Data value number for the network location you want, and click/tap on OK.
    Network location      Data value
    Public                                0
    Private                             1
    Domain                            2
6.When finished, please reboot your computer.
    Hope this helps.

  • MSTDC Error in clustered Environment in while interacting to DB Server from BizTalk server

    Hi All,
After completing all my required Biz-talk Integrations (All were related to WCF-Custom Adapter : SQL Binding), I deployed the same to the client environment. But, the same thing which worked for me in my development environment was giving some issues in
    the deployed environment.
The main difference was, at client environment - The DB Server was clustered environment and the interaction was through the load balancer.
The first issue I encountered was, there was firewall blocking the access to the DB server from Biz Talk server. Then after enabling and opening the Port 1433, the issue got fixed and I was able to communicate with the DB Server.
After this, I was getting the error related to MSTDC. For this to work properly, in my BizTalk application Configuration, if i set the property for "UseAmbientTransaction" as false under "SqlBinding" for the WCF-Custom Send Port, it is
    working as expected!
But, I heard from our Architects that the best approach is to set the property as "TRUE" for "UseAmbientTransaction" property.
So I set the property as true and done the below configurations.
    1. Enabling Network DTC using "dcomcnfg.exe"
    2. Adding and enabling Fire wall exception for DTC.
Even after making the above changes, I was getting the same error. Then after cross checking with DTCPing and DCTester on both local and deployed copy, i got the below difference.
    1. Port 135 (RPC EPM) was opened in my local environment but it was having "Filtered" access at the deployed copy.
So my question is, after opening the above port, will it solve the issue?
Secondly, is there any security threat ter opening the above Port?
Any quick suggestion/solution is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Anand

    Hi Anand,
Performing operations on SQL Server using BizTalk Server always involves two resources—the adapter connecting to SQL Server and the BizTalk Message Box residing on SQL Server. Hence, all operations performed using BizTalk Server are performed within the
scope of an MSDTC transaction. So, to use the SQL adapter with BizTalk Server, you must always enable MSDTC. To enable the adapter to perform operations within the scope of an MSDTC transaction, you must configure MSDTC both on the computer running the SQL
adapter and SQL Server. Also, you must add MSDTC to the exceptions list of Windows Firewall. That is the reason why recommend setting for this binding property is
true; otherwise you might either experience message loss or duplicate messages, depending on whether you are performing inbound or outbound operations.
Exception is for operations where the adapter client does not write any data to the SQL Server database, such as a Select operation, you might not want the additional overhead of performing the operations inside a transaction. In such cases,
you can configure the SQL adapter to perform operations without a transactional context by setting the
    UseAmbientTransaction binding property to false.
Just refer the link fo all the details:
Configure MSDTC on SQL Server and Adapter Client

  • Interconnect is using Public network picking from OSD

    Hi All,
In my RAC setup the private interconnect is using public network, it is picking this from Operating system dependent software.

    OCR PUBLIC 10.7.200.58
Please check the node 2, it is using the public n/w for the interconnect picked from OSD.
I think, actually it should use the private n/w show pick from OCR.
Please let me know how to make the second node to use the interconnect from private network and should pick from OCR.
    Thanks,
    Mahipal

Set the cluster_interconnect parameter in DB or ideally, add this to OCR. But question is , even OSD should give you correct value? Did you find as why is it not coming?

  • I'm trying to log into a public network and while the fan blade shows I have a connection I can not get the user agreement to load in Safari. This was working until yesterday, what changed?

I've reset my network settings. I've cleared cache and cookies in the browser. Before yesterday the login screen would appear anytime I attempted to use an app or program that required internet access. Pretty much every program. Now I have a brick tablet at work. I've reset everything I can find. I'm at a dead end.
I've seen other ipads that had the auto login togle and auto join togle under network selection, my ipad does not have those options. Logging in at home is working fine on my private network. This public network is not being reset or forgotten when I choose "forget network" or Safari is blocking the login page and I don't know how to un block it.

Well, when I join a public wifi, a log in page displays a few seconds later, displaying the user agreement. But, earlier today, I was trying to connect my friend's 3GS to a public wifi, and it did not show up. So. I don't really know what happen. I think you should toggle the auto Join to on.

  • Weird: Backup file works fine from the network but not when moved into sandbox environment

We have a valid full backup of a database. We know it is valid, we have restored it twice from the network with no problems, but we do not have access to the network location from our sandbox environment.
The .bak file is sizable at about 9GB. The .bak file resides on our internal network, in a SAN drive. No problems there. When we copy the file from there into a sandbox environment to attempt the restore in the sandbox environment it gets corrupted. We've
tried three different times and all three different times it gets corrupted. First time we copied the file over to the sandbox the restore went up to 50% and failed. The second time we copied the file again and attempted the restore again it failed at 70%.
The third time it failed at 60%. The error message we get during the restore is "...Read on ... failed: 13(The data is invalid) Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Restore database is terminating abnormally."
Now some background here. To move the file our network team is doing this: they have this .vmdk file that they mount out in our production environment (which has access to the network location where the .bak file is), copy the file into the drive, then move
the .vmdk file into the sandbox environment(which does not have access to the network location), mount the drive in the sandbox environment, and then I have access to the .bak file from within the sandbox environment.
Something in the process of using the .vmdk file to move the .bak file from production into the sandbox is causing the file to get corrupted.
Any thoughts? Has anyone seen this before? Any idea? TIA,
    Raphael

  • How to port database changes from development to a production environment

How do I port database changes from the development to the production environment?
I am using v8 and have always had to redo everything using the schema manager all over in the production environment. Is there an easy way to generate a script, for example to dump the database changes on the development machine to be executed later on the production machine?

This should already be a clearly defined change control process. Once a procedure, function, package, trigger, or whatever completes the testing rounds, it should be promoted to production.
Forgive me if it seems I'm trivializing, but I don't see the problem, just copy the object(s) from your software library (or development) into production using whatever tool works best or has been chosen. If you are doing data copies then you have various options again including good old export/import.

Expected results: I have to save the file because the user has all rights file’s security.
    Can you help me ?
    Thanks in advance

First, you should ask in Acrobat
The Cloud forum is not about using individual programs
The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process
If you will start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says All communities) to open the drop down list and scroll
Second, different program, but what helps with SOME permission errors is in the link below
