Clustered Oracle 9i AS and DataSource Problem

Hi,
While working with some DataSources in the default application for an OC4J I have noticed that some things just don't seem to be working right. When modifying a DS it says it must restart the OC4J container so that the DS can be re-initialized. This works fine on the server that I am making the change on but when I go to the other server in the cluster it shows the container not being restarted although the DS information has been updated. Don't all OC4J containers in the cluster for that application have to be restarted?
We are running 9.0.2.0.1 version of the AS.

This is the way it works in 903 as well.

  • Clustered Oracle 9i AS and OC4J Problem

    Hi,
    I am working with two Oracle 9i AS (9.0.2.0.1), serverA and serverB, in a clustered environment. I have published a servlet to the cluster under the URL of /MyApp and the main servlet is MyServlet. I have noticed that when I go to either URL:
    http://serverA/MyApp/MyServlet
    or
    http://serverB/MyApp/MyServlet
    my servlet will show up fine but sometimes when going to serverA it will actually use the servlet running on serverB, and vice versa. I am able to verify this by looking at the log files. At first I wasn't sure why it would do this but it makes sense that in a clustered environment it would pick either of the servers to load balance the application. After reading some Oracle documentation it re-enforced the way the AS works.
    Recently I have noticed some problems with the cluster though but can't seem to pin-point the problem. When I go to either URL it will sometimes bring up the servlet web page but other times it will give an error of:
    No Response from Application Web Server
    Upon further investigation I noticed that the page would come up fine any time it tried to use the servlet on serverA but it seems that when it tries to use the servlet on serverB it returns the error. The problem is I am having a hard time verifying that serverB is causing problems or if it is something with the communication between the two servers. As far as I can tell in the Oracle EM it shows both OC4J containers running fine and all the other standard containers are running as well. Some testing that I have done is turning off the OC4J container on serverB. When I do this I stop getting any errors. Checking the opmn log for the containers doesn't give any information on the errors.
    Has anyone had similar problems? Might someone know how to properly test / troubleshoot the problem to see where things are messing up? Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks

  • Oracle 9i Lite and CPU problems

    Are there any known problems with 9i Lite clients on Celeron or other CPU models ?
    I know there were JVM related problems with one of the Oracle Universal Installers (been there) but this problem occurs when running msql to access the polite db.
    eg.
    msql system/x@polite
    msql system/x@polite:polite
    msql system/x@jdbc:polite:polite
    All return a [POL-3013] bad database or invalid password error. Suspect that MSync does not work for the same reason.

    I also get the POL-3013 error message when trying to connect to the polite database as well as my own db. I can setup the user-dsn and run CREATEDB with no errors. I can even validate the db and no errors are reported. But I cannot use msql to connect to it. It used to work on my previous Win2k-machine with P4 cpu, but will not work with XP and Celeron.

  • No Oracle Developer Tools and Datasources for VS2012 Update 3

    Hi all
    I am using VS2012 Update 3 and I have installed Oracle 11.2.0.3.20 32 bit successfully. Unfortunately, the tools are not showing up in the VS About Dialog, nor do I have the Oracle Datasources in VS.
    Any help appreciated.
    Juerg

    Hi Christian
    Thanks for reply. Yes I did install this exact version. The funny thing is that I can open a project in VS2012 (created in VS2010 with the 11.2.0.3 version on an other box) on my machine and the VS2012 EF designer opens correctly when double clicking on the .edmx file. The Oracle Client data providers however do not show up ( and therefore I cannot recreate the model from the database). Also the About dialog does not contain the VS Oracle tools. Build and run however works, as well deployment to an IIS/R2008 server where 11.2.0.3 is installed.
    The ifile is a parameter in the tnsnames.ora file to reference other tnsnames.ora. That is the way we reference the company wide tnsnames.ora on a shared drive. This does not work in the 12.1 ODT version.
    http://oracleprofessional.blogspot.ch/2007/05/using-ifile-to-centralise-tnsnamesora.html
    IMHO the uninstalling of the 12.1 and reinstalling 11.2.0.3 somehow screwed up the registry or whatever. I am quite familiar with VS and also the command line switches, I did all I could (/resetsettings, etc), but nothing helped. Also a repair of VS2012 did not help. After the not working 11.2.0.3 I tried to reinstall 12.1, but with no success. I always did an uninstall and a reboot in between each installation/uninstallation.
    Another question, this installer looks a bit outdated, did Oracle ever think about using newer ways of providing such an installer ( NuGet, and/or vsix) ?
    Kind regards
    Juerg

  • Jdeveloper upgrade and datasource problem

    Hi,
    I upgraded my jeveloper to
    Oracle IDE     10.1.2.17.84
    java.version     1.4.2_04
    and all the applications that use data source do not run anymore. When the application connects to the database, the following error message is generated.
    java.lang.RuntimeException: oracle.i18n.util.builder.UnicodeMapChar
    All the applications are simple and don't use any structs or BC4J components.
    Thanks!

    I was getting a similar error while running JDev10 and OC4J
    (oracle.i18n.util.builder.UnicodeMapChar at oracle.i18n.util.ConverterArchive.readObj ConverterArchive.java:323)
    I tried resolving it using various Oracle Drivers , and various Classes within the drivers , but always the same error).
    The only solution that worked was moving from OC4J to iAS - the code worked without any further changes.

  • Oracle Webcenter Portal and UCM Problem

    hi, I'm using both applications but it seems UCM always ask authentication before viewing the checked in files to webcenter portal.
    How can I view the files checked in to UCM through webcenter without UCM authentication??????????I set the files security to public.
    Thanks

    Looks like the configuration of UCM (SSXA) is not completed in your system. Take a look at this manual http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e13650/toc.htm to understand the relationship between region definitions and placeholders. Note that Content Presenter is just a client here (it's a matter of WebCenter Content configuration).

  • Create a report from scratch, add Table and Datasource Problem

    Hi,
    I'm using the latest Crystal Reports Runtime supplied for eclipse.
    I want to create a report from scratch, add a Table and then add a ArrayList of Pojos as the Datasource.
    But unfortunately depending on the ConnectionInfo I supply to the Table I get different errors.
    I looked through the samples and see that I have to supply properties
    like
      "Database DLL", "crdb_javabeans.dll" and ConnectionInfo.setUserName("");
         ConnectionInfo.setPassword(null)
    I looked through the forums and find different set of properties.
    Actually because I am just working with Pojos I would have thougth that something like the following
    would be sufficient:
    ReportClientDocument  doc = new ReportClientDocument();
                doc.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
                doc.newDocument();
    Table table = new Table();
    table.setAlias("reportTable");
    table.setName("reportTable");
    doc.getDatabaseController().addTable(oTable, null);
    doc.getDatabaseController().setDataSource(myCoolection, myClass, "reportTable", "reportTable");
    So could someone tell me the right/minimum Set of  Properties to make a Table get connected to Pojos?

    With XI Release 2, you can come quite close to creating from scratch:

    You need Service Pack 2:

  • Oracle 8.1.5 install on Linux Redhat 6.0: character set (and other) problem(s)

    I am trying to install Oracle 8i on Linux and it does not work : once the install is finished, I have a message saying that "Character Set not found".
    I am runing a french version of Linux (fr-latin 1) and I try to install Oracle with French and English as languages
    An other problem about this install : Oracle does not seem to recognize that I have 6,9 Giga for it to install, and says that I have not enough space for the install...
    And at the end of the install, it takes for ages (about 15mns) during which nothing seems to happen. On one machine I got out of this phase, but on the other I never saw it finish, it looks as if the computer crashed. Is that normal?
    I went through all the initialization phases, set the correct environment variables...
    thanks

    I've been dealing with the same problems in the english version but could bypass thiss by doing the folowing.
    -Just ignore the disk space stuff
    -Ignore the charset message, also
    -When creating a database, choose custom and then select the WE8ISO8859P1 char set. It worked for portuguese, must work for french also.
    -Everyone here recommended, and I do the same, leave the database creation for later, not during instalation.

  • Problem to connect between Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 at Vista sp2

    Introduction
    Hi guys, good day... NEED RESCUE!! SOS!! Hmm.. i have trouble been 1 weeks trying connect between Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 on window vista sp2. Actaully im very new at Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 but i got a project is going to build up system database and i figure out Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 can use free so i just chows these appication to be my project. I been search around internet and there is several things i was found about the connection but i has try and tried still it wont work out.
    Things i found and learned
    Oracle
    1. I have download Oracle 10g XE and installed in my windows vista sp2.
    2. I notice the Oracle Developer Tools is needed for VB2010 (To add reference 'Oracle.DataAccess'). So i was downloaded ODT11beta and installed
    3. I also edit TNSNAMES to following below:
    OraDb =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = shin-PC)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    4. My sqlnet like following below:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)
    5.I have try tnsping OraDB and its works.
    6. I monitoring task manager and OracleServicesXE is running.
    7. ora_dba is added in Group.
    Problem in SQLPLUS
    When i try connect SQLPLUS in cmd i get ERROR: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error.
    i . In cmd i type sqlplus and enter then i been ask for username and password.
    ii. After i insert my username and password and enter then i get the error of ORA-12560.
    Visual Basic 2010
    1. First i created my project, drawing label and button for test connection.
    2. Then, i add reference Oracle.DataAccess into my project.
    3. I type following script into my vb form:
    Imports System.Data
    Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Client
    Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Types
    Public Class Logon
    Private Sub cmdLogon_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdLogon.Click
    Dim oradb As String = "Data Source = OraDb; User Id = system; Password = shin;"
    Dim conn As New OracleConnection(oradb)
    conn.Open()
    Dim cmd As New OracleCommand
    cmd.Connection = conn
    cmd.CommandText = "select SName from Staff where SName = shin"
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text
    Dim dr As OracleDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()
    dr.Read()
    lblOra.Text = dr.Item("SName")
    conn.Dispose()
    End Sub
    End Class
    Problem in VB2010
    When i run my project and press the button i get error message ORA-12514: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified at conn.Open()
    Extra Question*
    1. Im notice in my netbook xp home sp2, before i install ODT11beta my sqlplus look fine thought cmd but after i installed ODT11beta its same problem with my Vista sp2 now. Get error ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error :( I tried uninstall ODT11beta again and restart its work fine again. Which i really dun understand. Izzit the version ODT11 is not suitable for 10g xe? And i dunno this problem is related with my connection between oracle 10g xe and vb2010 or not. So confuse@@
    2. I wish to know more about connect between Oracle and VB, is there still a things i miss?(I mean steps or configuration that should i done)
    3. Or i just lower my VB version could make more easy? If yes, what version VB should i use that could work out with oracle 10g xe?
    4. Sorry for too bad my english but i really wish somebody could help me. Please try to understand my written or you could ask me mean if dont understand. Im stuck!! Stuck feel not really that good.....

  • Problem w/ Oracle temp tables and WL61SP3

    I have an odd problem that arises when I use Weblogic 6.1, Oracle, callable statements,
    and a stored procedure that uses temporary tables. Specifically I don't get the
    result set pack I expect.
    Specifically, I have a stored procedure which first populates a temporary table,
    then joins the temporary table with the additional tables to build the final result
    set--i.e. which it returns as a cursor.
    I've tested this procedure and it works fine when called from PLSQL and from Jboss
    (using Oracle's driver). When I switch to Weblogic 6.1, *using the same database
    and the same Oracle driver*, the returned result set (cursor) has no records.
    I've added additional debugging to the stored procedure and find that it indeed
    is populating the temporary table, but for some reason, the select/join acts like
    the temporary table has no records. Similar 'exists' or 'in' clauses likewise
    do not work.
    In playing with the stored procedure I found that removing the join with the
    temporary table brings back results. This isn't functionally correct--i.e. the
    final result set has too many rows--but it confirmed that the problem lies in
    the temporary tables.
    Again, we've developed to run on multiple app servers so can switch from jboss
    to Weblogic simply by running an ant task. The same callable statement executed
    using the same driver, but from different app servers lead to different results.
    The next step is to try to mess with the 'on commit preserve rows' clause in the
    'create global temporary table' section and see if this has any effect. This procedure
    doesn't perform any commits, however, so this shouldn't produce any changes.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    is in front of all weblogic stuff in the classpath the server startup script creates for the
    server. We ship a version of oracle's thin driver, so it could be picked up instead
    of yours if the classpath is weblogic-first.
    Second, and this is a long shot, are you using our connection pools? I guess not,
    but let me know...

  • Oracle 9.2 and PHP 5.1.x problems

    Hello everyone.
    I have an extremely frustrating dilemma, which has been a pain for quite a while now.
    I have been working with Oracle and PHP since Oracle 8.x and PHP4 and everything has been running smoothly. After we upgraded from PHP4 to PHP5 and from Oracle 8 to Oracle 9 I had to switch from using the old php_oracle extension to the OCI-libraries, but otherwise there were no problems.
    But now I am completely stumped. We are currently using Oracle version 9.2 and since our production enviroment is extremely large we are not going to upgrade to Oracle 10 or greater for many years.
    PHP though keeps on going forward. I am currently using PHP 5.1.0. I have tried several times upgrading to anything beyond that. 5.1.2, 5.1.4 and recently 5.1.6. But the oracle extensions just don't want to play anymore.
    I get the following error message everytime I start my apache 1.3:
    The procedure entry point OCILobRead2 could not be located in .. OCI.dll
    After reading this thread
    (Re: "The procedure entry point OCILobRead2 could not bel located in .. OCI.dll"
    I seem to know what the cause of the problem is. But how can I get past this? I would really like to upgrade our PHP version and still be able to use oracle. 5.1.0 is the last version which seems to work ok. Anything greater than that will not work at the moment.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
    EDIT: I am using Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 Server. Unfortunately Linux is not an option where I work.
    EDIT2: Another edit. Actually I can start the thing up with PHP 5.1.2, but then I get a weird apache crash whenever I try to run a simple select query. No error messages and the log is empty. I am completely stumped.

    Thanks for the answers. The oci8.dll is uncommented naturally. Otherwise it would start up just fine, but I couldn't use the database functions.
    I got it working by installing 5.1.6, but replacing the oci8.dll with the one from the 5.1.0 -version. It's a very... desperate... solution, but at least it works.
    I'm gonna have to try to sell the idea of using the 10g client to our DBA. I don't think though, that he'll be very enthusiastic to set it up on our production servers. We'll see.

  • Slow Problems with Oracle Forms 10g and Oracle Database 11g

    Hi, I wonder if there is a compatibility problem between Version 10.1.2.0.2 32 Oracle Forms and Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production. This is because my application runs correctly on a version of Oracle Database 10g, and when we migrated the database to an Oracle Database 11g, slowness problems came out.
    Thanks.

    We have the same issue happening with our custom forms and with some of the standard forms in EBSO. So far we have found that the form invoking a view causes ridiculous slowness in opening the form (40 mins). Using a table access has shortened the open time significantly. At this time Oracle DBAs at OOD have no clear idea why it is happening.
    we are on 11.1 database with 11.5 EBSO

  • Copied an existing Oracle 6i Form and made change and problems when compiling.

    I copied an existing Oracle 6i Form and made numerous changes to the form. The biggest change I made was taking on of the existing data blocks and I renamed it and also removed some of the items within the data block. After the additional changes to the form to make it look like I wanted it to, I tried to compile the form.
    When trying to compile the form I received an error that it could not resolve item reference. The item it is talking about was one within the data block that we renamed and hence after renaming the data block we removed this item.
    I have check via search for sql and plsql code to see if I could find this item it was referencing, no luck.
    Does anyone have and idea of where this item may exist so we can remove it.
    Please let me know.

    Could it be one of the properties on another item that is referencing the missing item? e.g. the Synchronize with Item property.
    Save your form to a text file and do a text search.
