Clustering 3500 and changing management VLAN

I have a cluster of 3 3500XL switches. All have the latest rev of IOS. The cluster is fine when on default vlan. When I change the managment VLAN to VLAN 9 using "cluster management vlan 9" the 2 member switches fail to change to vlan 9 and the cluster breaks. THANKS

Changing the Management VLAN
Access to all switch management facilities is through the switch IP address, and the switch IP address always belongs to the management VLAN, VLAN 1, by default. This section describes how to configure a cluster to support management connectivity when the management VLAN is other than the default.

  • CRMD_ORDER: how to set default values for Requester and Change Manager

    Hello Folks,
how do I set default values in TA crmd_order?
I drew my organizational hierarchy using TAs bp and ppoma_crm.
When a new Change Request (e. g. SDHF) is created, I want the four roles (Requester, Change Manager, IT Operator and Developer) to be set automatically, not manually.
Both Requester (= Key User) and Change Manager are derivable. I did not find anything in SPRO neither in the OSS neither here.
Points will be rewarded as a matter of course!
    Thanx in advance!

    Hi Dirk,
look for Define Access Sequence & Define Partner Determination Procedure in SPRO and read the IMG Activity Documentation. You can find it in the Service Desk config, but it works for the other transaction types too.
Basically, you create Access Sequences where you tell the Partner Determination Procedure where to look for the values for the Partner Function fields.
The Access Sequence can use lots of sources for the information, including your org structure.

  • Transport and Change Management

    Hello,
We need to modify our MDM structure (add fields and tables). We would like to avoid unloading the repository. Can we do that in our test environment and move to Production only the structure while keeping the data in Prod.
What is the Transport and Change Management patch? Is this what we need?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hello,
This is not possible, as there is no support for Transport and Change management. You will always need some down-time in production. But there are some strategies to reduce the down-time.
    (1) You could use the Java ADMIN API to create a batch-script that performs the required repository modifications. Once you validate it works, unload your repository, run your program and load the repository again.
    (2) Create a "slave" repository and re-direct your production users to that repository. Unload your production repository and make all changes. Once done, reload that repository and switch back. Remember that this will only help to keep a "look-up" only version of the production repository...

  • Changing Management Vlan

Hi I need to change the vlan of my management network and had a few questions. I have two cores (4507's) that i created the new vlan on and started to add the vlan to the access switches (2960's) throughout the campus. is it ok to setup the new vlan and give it an Ip address while still leaving the old one in? will this cause any issues? i will eventually take the old one out once im confident everything is stable. Also, Is there anything else i might have missed in creatin the new vlan? i pretty much just copied anything that was in the config for the old one.
    thanks
    Mike

    Mike
If the config at the top is from your 4500s then it looks like you are setting the STP priority for all vlans on those switches so nothing to worry about.
So assuming you have setup the vlan 4 interfaces on the 4500 with HSRP etc. then -
    1) login to the 4500. If you work from the 4500 then the default gateway etc. on the access switch doesn't matter because you are in the same vlan ie. vlan 4
    2) make sure that vlan 4 is allowed on the trunk link. You need to make sure it is allowed on both ends
    3)  Currently you have a vlan 241 SVI on each access switch. So you need to -
    a) create a vlan 4 SVI and give it an IP. ie. -
    int vlan 4
shut  <-- just to make sure it is not brought up yet
    ip address x.x.x.x <subnet mask>
At this stage that SVI should be down and the vlan 241 up. To see this do a "sh ip int brief" and it should show you the status of the vlan interfaces.
    b) do a "no shut" on the vlan 4 ie.
    int vlan 4
    no shut
one of two things will happen -
    i) either both SVIs will still be up in which case you can then log out of the switch, log back in using the vlan 4 SVI IP and then shutdown the 241 SVI
    or
ii) because the 241 SVI is up the vlan 4 SVI won't come up. If this is the case you will then need to shutdown the 241 SVI. When you do this you will automatically be logged out of the switch.
You should however then be able to log back in using the vlan 4 IP address because that SVI should have come up.  You must make sure you did the "no shut" under vlan 4 in the previous step.
If that all works and you are now logged in using the vlan 4 SVI IP then you can add -
"ip default-gateway x.x.x.x"  <-- where x.x.x.x is the HSRP VIP for vlan 4 on the 4500s.
Once you have done that you should be able to connect to the switch from a remote subnet eg. your PC for example.
Like i say, even if you do get locked out of the switch end user traffic will not be affected but you would then need to login locally to the switch to setup the new management vlan.
Let me know how it goes.

  • BPM and Change Management Process

    Hi,
We have a requirement to automate the change management process. Typical functionality needed is - input the change required, assign priority, organise risk assessment, change approvals, change implementation, send automatic emails to managers etc.
Is BPM a best fit to this kind of Change Management Process?
    Thanks
    Srikanth

    Hi Srikanth,
It's a good question and I hope this helps.
My short answer is that "it depends...".
Yes, an Oracle BPM process will let your users enter the change required, assign priority, define the change approvals, and send automatically send emails to managers.
Not saying that this is the case here, but sometimes people confuse an application with what BPM does with a process.  Ask yourself if your candidate process for BPM has one or more of these characteristics:
Workflow - are there multiple people involved in the editing and approvals over some period of time?
Documentation - as work flows through the process, will you need to gather requirements / documents and associate these with the instance?
Seamless integration - are there systems and or databases involved that you need to integrate into the process?
Efficiency - do you want to ensure that your process continues to flow and escalates when a work item sits too long in someone's queue?
Governance - do you need to have an audit trail of the various people who were involved as a work item instance (a change approval in your case) flowed through the process?
Compliance - do you need to have the change management instances go through a process in a consistent and well documented manner?
Visibility - do you need to gather key performance indicators as instances flow through the process and do managers need to track these in business activity monitoring reports?
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Software Configuration and Change Management for ABAP

    Hi all,
we developed an ABAP application with about 10 developers and shipped it to Customer A.
Then we do corrections and enhancements for a new Customer B. But then Customer A finds bugs in his shipped version, which is not the current version on our development system.
Now a lot of time is wasted debugging the current version and finding out why the bug is there in the shipped version A but not in the current version.
So its difficult and timeconsuming to manage those different versions of the same application for different customers.
This effort increases with each new customer dramatically.
The ABAP workbench only knows linear versioning of single ABAP objects like report, function module or class.
    Now the question:
Is there a standard transaction or external ABAP software that supports such a Software Configuration & Change Managment, i.e. allows tagging, branching, maintaining multiple development branches, allows running transactions and reports of older revisions, etc. like so many non-SAP/ABAP SCCMs like CVS, Bitkeeper, Subversion or Monotone do in the OpenSource world?
I found one called Conigma from Galileo Group, but am wondering if there are others, or whether there is someone having used such a tool.

    Hi Frank,
In ABAP world, there is supposed to be one development environment for one production system.
The transport of changes follow the path
    DEV --> QAS --> Production.
One golden rule is while making any changes to a program in  Development, ensure that the version is compatible with production and QAS.
If there is a change request already open for the development object then that earlier change request should be finished first and the changes should get transported to QAS and production.
It seems you are trying to handle two production systems using one development system. That will surely bring some serious fun
Though, if you have no other option then keep the record of versions applicable to your different customers.
Later retrieve the version according to the customer before making any changes.
    Cheers,
    Ram

  • Versioning of BPMN Process Models and Change Management

    Hi all,
Can any of you please provide insight on how can we do the following change management activities?
    1. Version Control of BPMN Models synchronized with the change management activities
    2. In the Help documentation, two roles called Improvement Manager and Modeler were mentioned. How do we define their roles in the Administration? In User Management I see only one function privilege "Change Management" and both Improvement Manager and Modeller will have this privilege. Than how they are distinguished in their roles?
    3. Does it also support a work flow and notification mechanism?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Best regards,
    Raja Mohan

    Hi,
I'd just like to add some quick points that you need to consider:
Implicit version control is not supported in the current release (10.1.3.4) but it will be supported in Release 11 (upcoming release). There are some workarounds/alternatives like attributes (Status, Since/on, Released on, Released by, Release) and external version control system combined with the XML import/export functionality (Re: Control Version
The Change Management can be used to describe upcoming modeling tasks within the Business Process Architect. This implicates changes from IT, adding new objects, adjustments of models or control flow, etc... Especially it is suitable to document suggestions for future model improvements.
"Does it also support a work flow and notification mechanism?"I think this might be a governance topic that has to be created on your own.
    Hope it helps,
    Danilo

  • Cisco 3560 cg (change management vlan)

    Good Day guys ,
i've purchased some of the new 3560 cg catalyst switches. Am looking for some guidance/assistance into the procedure to change the default (vlan 1) to my management vlan (x). I have been successful in the addition of all my  vlans inclusive of the management to the switch using the following command "switchport access vlan x" via the command line.
Currently I have CE 500's in my environment which allows you to change the management vlan from the GUI. Any recommendations/ assistance as to how this is now done on the newer model switches via command line or GUI would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can we rename the clustered instance and change its IP address?

    Hi,
We have an Sql Server 2008R2 Clustered production instance by name 'ProdVir' configured in 2 nodes(Active-passive) with
WIndows Server 2008 R2. We also have another clustered instance as disaster recovery by name 'VirDr' configured again
in another 2 nodes of Windows Server 2008 R2. Every day morning there is mainatenace plan which backups all the database
in production and another maintenace plan in the disaster recovery server 'VirDr' which restores the backups into the
VirDr instance. I would like to know that in an eventuality of a disaster in the clustered production instance of 'ProdVir'
could we rename the the instance VirDr(meant for disaster recovery) to ProdVir and also change the Ip addresses accordingly
so that the application programs do not have to change the details for the datasource in the connection strings.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Binny Mathew

Binny - Yes this is quite achievable, higher level steps (You also need to consider other operational checks):
In the cluster administrator landing page, select your SQL Server Network Name, Press f2 or right click and select rename, give it a new name and then
    Take resource OFFLINE and then
Bring it ONLINE back again, test your application
    Changing IP Address:
Add one more Network resource with the new IP Address
Then you add this IP address to the SQL Server group and set dependency accordingly
Take SQL Server Application OFFLINE and ONLINE again
Here you will end-up with 2 IP Addresses, you can keep both of them or remove the old one later

  • Trunking and the management VLAN

I have gotten my 5010's up and can get to them from mgmt0. The ip address for mgmt0 resides in VLAN 2 for me. I am getting ready to trunk my 5010's back to my 6500's. Do I need to make sure that VLAN 2 cannot be seen through the trunk ports since it resides on mgmt0?

I don't think this is technically right- the MGMT and the data-path aren't actually connected. The MgmT 0 port doesn't have any concept that it's on "vlan 2"- it's just an access port.
Similarly, if VLAN 2 is on the trunk port, the IP address you assigned to MGMT0 isn't going to respond.
If you configured "feature interface vlan" and then put an IP address on VLAN 2, you could mange this box that way- on two separate IP addresses, via the two separate connections.
With the current lack of ability to wrap ACLs around the Interface VLANs, I'm more comfortable NOT using interface-vlan commands, and using a single uplink to mgmt0. Loss of the mgmt0 port is now only loss of the ability to manage the switch, not a data-path impacting event. (unless you need to configure the switch to correct an data-path issue, in which case you've got problems.)
The shift to out-of-band is a nice feature, but it's going to require a big shift in thinking from an implementation standpoint.

  • Autonymouse AP1121 - Management Vlan and SSID Vlan

    Hello,
We are using an ACS server to authenticate wireless users to active directory this works fine. The issue occurs when we try to pull an ip and we can't fomr the dhcp. The vlan we have the SSID on is vlan 10 and the management vlan of the AP is vlan 500. The ip-helper info is correct because wired users on vlan 10 get an ip immedialty. We just can't pull one with the AP. Does anyone know the config for this? Here is my current config, the client authenticate through the ACS 4.2 but pull no ip, the only way for me to manage the ap is to have the native vlan command on there, once i remove it i can't telnet. What is the fix for this? Thanks
current switch port config ap is plugged into.
    interface FastEthernet1/0/48
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 500
    switchport mode trunk

Do you have sub interfaces for vlan 10 being brigged through the radio interface?
    Example config below...
    interface Dot11Radio0.10
    description Secure Wireless access
    encapsulation dot1Q 10
    no ip route-cache
    bridge-group 10
    bridge-group 10 subscriber-loop-control
    bridge-group 10 block-unknown-source
    no bridge-group 10 source-learning
    no bridge-group 10 unicast-flooding
    bridge-group 10 spanning-disabled
    interface FastEthernet0.10
    encapsulation dot1Q 10
    no ip route-cache
    bridge-group 10
    no bridge-group 10 source-learning
    bridge-group 10 spanning-disabled
Also verify that vlan 10 is allowed on the trunk interface of the switch by typing "show int trunk"

  • 1300 bridge with native and management vlan in different vlans

    Hello,
We are going to set up a wireless bridge between two 1300 accesspoints. In our network the native vlan and the management vlan are different vlan's. Will we be able to manage the ap and switch at the "remote" site? Do we have to set up two ssid's, one for native and one for management?
    regards,
    Rutger

    Too answer my own question:
I don't think it is possible. Things work fine by making our management vlan the native vlan on switches and ap's involved. Management IP address on the BVI1 interface and everything works!
