Clustering Without IP Multicasting Support

Is it possible to Cluster WebLogic Server 5.1 with out using IP Multicast? The current network does not support IP Multicasting, is there a way to cluster WebLogic without using IP Multicast?ThanksSean

    vPC Peer Link and I/O Modules Support In Cisco NX-OS Release 6.2
    Beginning with Cisco NX-OS Release 6.2(2), mixing I/O modules on the same side of a port channel is supported when there is an F2 Series module and an F2e Series module, or when there is an F2e Series module and an M Series Module. You can configure F2E VDCs. The VDC type for two vPC peer devices must match when the F2 Series module and the F2e Series module are used in the same VDC or system. For an F2 Series module and an F2e Series module in the same topology, the features related to the F2 Series module will only apply. After ISSU to Cisco NX-OS Release 6.2(2), F2 VDCs will automatically change to F2 F2E VDCs, regardless of the existence of an F2e Series module.
    Table displays the I/O modules that are supported on both sides of a vPC peer link in Cisco NX-OS Release 6.2.

    No, this is definitely not "normal", it's an unfortunate example of mis-tagging the example VIs.  VIs are tagged in a number of different ways in the example finder, the ones you mostly see are: 
    1.  Written specifically for RT
    2.  Written specifically for LabVIEW (Host)
    3.  Written for LabVIEW but could still work on RT. 
    The multicast examples were tagged with the "Written for LabVIEW but could still work on RT" when they should have been tagged, "Written specifically for LabVIEW (Host)."  We apologize for any confusion, we'll try to make sure this is fixed in the next release of LabVIEW.

    Can anyone comment on the current state of development for IPv6 Multicast support for Service Providers who are using 6PE or 6VPE in their MPLS core.
    (6PE - SP is running MPLS in its IPv4 core, it uses IPv6-enabled provider edge (PE) routers to transport IPv6 traffic over an IPv4-only enabled core. 6PE does not support VPN,s it just provides a mechanism for tunneling IPv6 packets from ingress PE to egress PE routers)
    (6VPE - refers to a PE router capable of supporting IPv6 VPNs. A 6VPE solution can be used to provide IPv6 based layer 3 VPN services in a similar way to IPv4 based Layer 3 VPN services.)
    My understanding is that 6PE and 6VPE solution are unable to support IPv6 multicast traffic.
    Any further information on configuration, design or development work in the pipeline would be gratefully received,

  • How To: CF11 Clustering without Multicast (AWS)

    This week I've been working on getting clustering setup for a client. Initially we were using CF10 with the latest patches. Ideally we wanted non-sticky load balancing with session replication. We want really high availability with the option to reboot a server at any time and not have to wait for session draining or lose customers if a node goes down. Adam Cameron points out that there is an issue with CF10 and not having an option to turn on session replication Adam Cameron's CFML Blog: Problem with session replication with CF10 clustering. Trying various fixes I could not get the session to replicate we moved to CF11 which restores that issue. There is a bug open for CF10 with some weird responses but I never saw any sort of fix for this.
    CF11 as noted solves this odd issue, so I thought we were in the clear. Following the limited cluster setup guides found online there is some manual configuration to do on the remote instance. First, I am not sure if the default cfusion instance just can't be used as a member of a cluster but I had a hard time ever getting it to work. So both the local and remote instance use new CF11 instances created from within the Instance Manager. The instructions Adobe ColdFusion 10 * Enabling clustering for load balancing and failover are mostly correct in that you have to copy the <cluster> node to the remote instance. One issue pointed out in a few places is that the cluster block has to actually go IN the <host> node and not after it. CF10, CF11 and maybe even CF9 put the block (and the documents suggest putting the block) after the </host> tag which, in my experience, does not work.
    After everything was configured and I started up my test I could not get the remote node to respond at all. Looking in the cf error log I constantly saw this line:
    INFO: Manager [/]: skipping state transfer. No members active in cluster group.
    Digging in to the tomcat clustering discussions this basically means the cluster couldn't find the remote instance. By default CF uses the multicast cluster support in tomcat and doesn't have an option to do anything different. Researching this found that AWS does not support broadcast nor multicast in EC2. Further research showed how tomcat could be configured for static cluster member configuration and so I modified the server.xml files to match and viola, cluster with session replication. Using the ELB on AWS we have sticky sessions disabled (basically round-robin style requests) and the requests bounce evenly between the instance members. The session id's, however, stay the same on each page load even though the request is going to a different host.
    So here is what the cluster node of the server.xml looks like:

    You can see the <membership> node is commented out (this is the multicast function). The TcpPingInterceptor is added and the StaticMembershipInterceptor is added. The reciever port on this instance is 4001 and the remote instance is 4002 so the interceptor uses 4002 on this instance to contact the remote host and vice-versa. In other words the remote instance will use the same <cluster> node with the ports switch and the host IP address changed on the static interceptor. The uniqueID then rotates on each member going from {0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15} to {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,0}
    Of course each additional member to the cluster will mean manual changes to each existing member (to add additional static interceptors) but that seems a small price to pay to not have to move our entire environment off AWS.

    + Stateless session EJBs
    What I want to do:
    + Be able to know list of available servers in the cluster
    and use this list to broadcast same information to all EJBs
    with same name in cluster
    + I understand that the cluster-aware EJB stub has this list
    when a client gets a home reference to the EJB Object
    + I have not seen any specific WebLogic API to get this list
    either by accessing the cluster-aware JNDI table or the
    cluster-aware EJB stub.
    + Othwerwise, I would then need to implement my own server
    list manager to get this list. Such task should not be that difficult.
    Why I want to do the above:
    + I would like to implement a EJB sendAll() method that will
    send the same request to all EJBs of the same JNDI name in the cluster.
    + Please correct me if I am wrong but I have not seen anywhere
    in the WebLogic 5.1 documentation regarding the automatic multicast
    ability of broadcasting EJBs calls via EJB-to-EJB communication to a
    cluster.
    + I understand that multicasting is only used internally, ie,
    heartbeats.
    Plus, I believe that RMI does not support multicasting.

    I'd like to hear a bit more about what you are trying to do. (at a
    higher level)
    RMI / EJB is a point-to-point model. A client is making an RMI call to
    a server. Granted, in our clustering solution, there may not be one
    physical server, but the idea is to give the appearance of one big,
    reliable server.

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

So I am wondering of there is a way of making a rescue email address without calling the apple support team in which I do not wish to go through a whole bunch of people taking hrs to actually get it done , my dad has had experience with this before and isn't happy with calling them either because he has to recall so many times and go through the process over and over again so. Is there a way with out calling them?

    This only leads me to calling apple support to change things ,in which I wish to not do so, I have money on my account in which I can't use because of these security questions in which I did not put up and when I made this account on iCloud it did not give me the chance to make a rescue email.     You can't add a rescue email address without being able to answer 2 of your security questions, you will need to contact Apple to get them reset.

    I found below config example  for WLC 4.x  & it stated this feature is not supported. Not sure if behaviour was modifed in any later release. I  have checked with 7.x & seems not working.

    No, Normal wired guest user (like wireless guest users, we can create wired guest users traffic send to a anchor controller & then get an IP in a guest-lan configured on that)
    My test setup is simple & having single WLC. I have crated a Guest LAN on a 4402 controller with vlan 139 as ingress (purly L2 & no gateway defined) & egress interface as vlan 130 (proper L3 gateway & DHCP defined)
    When a PC put into vlan 139 switch port it  is getting IP from vlan 130 as expected . Can browse with web pass through as I configured L3 security like that. I would like to know whether I could get multicast working for this wired guest user.
