Clusterware confused  in /etc/ocfs.conf  or /etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf

Hello,
This is very surprising sitaution . I installed ocfs2 ,when I finished installing clusterware it is asking for /etc/ocfs.conf and integrity check is failing.
OS RHEL 4 64 bit
ORACLE 10.2
anyone have clue that why clusterware is behaving like this?
Thanks,
S.Mann

More info...
I installed OCFS2 and when I check the inetgrity
the result is this
sh runcluvfy.sh comp cfs -n node1,node2 -f /u21
Verifying CFS integrity
Checking CFS integrity...
Checking existence of "/etc/ocfs.conf" file...
File "/etc/ocfs.conf" does not exist on the following nodes:

Why it is /etc/ocfs.conf as this is not the feature of OCFS2?

  • Sshd ignores /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny

    Hello everyone,
    I've just found out that sshd ignores /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny completely on my machine. It doesn't make use of tcp_wrappers. I am using the standard Arch package. Either my settings are wrong, or this is a severe security problem. It was a terrible surprise to find out that my server is under severe dictionary attacks all the time, despite the denyhosts script I am using.
    These are my settings:
    /etc/hosts.deny:
    ALL: ALL
    /etc/hosts.allow:
    # some nfs daemons: 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
    sshd sshd1 sshd2: ALL EXCEPT /etc/hosts.evil
    mysqld: 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
    /etc/hosts.evil:
    195.113.21.131
    60.10.6.53
    A simple experiment to verify the settings:
    [root@charon etc]# tcpdmatch -d -i /etc/xinetd.conf sshd 195.113.21.131
    warning: sshd: no such process name in /etc/xinetd.conf
    client: address 195.113.21.131
    server: process sshd
    matched: hosts.deny line 5
    access: denied
    [root@charon etc]# tcpdmatch -d -i /etc/xinetd.conf sshd 195.113.21.130
    warning: sshd: no such process name in /etc/xinetd.conf
    client: address 195.113.21.130
    server: process sshd
    matched: hosts.allow line 10
    access: granted
    This seems to be fine. But when I go to the machine 195.113.21.131, I can simply log in with no trouble at all.
    This is really strange. Does it have something to do with the xinetd warning? I am not using xinetd... Maybe I'm doing something wrong. If you have experienced such a trouble, please give me a hint.

    elasticdog wrote:So should our package not have the ListenAddress 0.0.0.0 line uncommented by default?  My guess would be that since it listens on all local addresses by default, we're just overwriting that when specifying 0.0.0.0, which isn't valid.  That was users don't have to specify their local IP address.  Unless I'm wrong, shouldn't this be a bug/feature request for the packager?
    This doesn't seem to be a package bug... IMHO, sshd must respect all the settings in hosts.deny and hosts.allow, regardless the IP address it listens on. The behaviour I noticed seems to be much more complicated. Basic settings (daemon name mentioned in hosts.*) worked, as far as I didn't want a "per IP" configuration. For example, including the daemon in hosts.allow really enabled remote connections, but any closer specifications (subdomains, EXCEPT operator...) were ignored. Access was simply granted without further evaluation. Excluding sshd from hosts.allow worked as one would assume. When I specified ListenAddress, everything started to work properly. This is mysterious. There are millions of computers using tcp wrappers and ssh, so it's hard to believe there could be a bug.

    Not those whole folders, but their contents, maybe.
    If the user account now on the Mac has read rights to the user account(s) on the backups, yes.  If not, you may have to do some finagling.
    Try the Browse Other Backup Disks option, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #17.  If you find an account that can open those folders, restore what you want to an alternate location (#16 in the FAQ).
    If not try creating one or more accounts temporarily.

    The problem was in rc.conf. Im posting the file with the fix, the network modules were being loaded in the wrong order on the modules array and I think I had a module missing. Anyway posting it:

  • Setting global umask via NSUmask or /etc/launchd.conf and /etc/launchd-user.conf broken?

    The procedure to change the default global umask from 0022 to 0002, so that most files created by one user on a machine will be read-write by other users in the same group, seems to have been broken or to have been changed in OS X Lion from OS X Snow Leopard.  What worked as far back as OS X 10.4 and was officially documented was done from Terminal: "defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences NSUmask 2" (with a sudo, if not logged in as 'root').
    Another way documented in various places and which I actually used through OS X 10.6 was also done via Terminal. Two files were created: /etc/launchd.conf (for system-wide global umask) or /etc/launchd-user.conf (for user-specific global umask).  The contents of each were simply the single umask command, "umask 002" or ("umask u=rwx,g=rwx,o=rx", I can't remember which variant I used - they're functionally the same, though).
    No matter which method I use, the 2nd or the 1st, the global umask no longer changes.
    Does anyone know whether this has been deliberately hobbled under OS X Lion, requiring purchase of OS X Lion Server?  Is this an OS X Lion bug?  Or, am I looking at something wrong?

    See this support article, which was written for OS X Server, but seems applicable to  Mac OS X client versions as well:
    Mac OS X Server v10.5, 10.6: Setting a custom umask
    The excerpt below describes the use of /etc/launchd-user.conf, and strongly cautions against using /etc/launchd.conf.
    Umask for user applications
    In Mac OS X v10.5.3 and later, you can create the file /etc/launchd-user.conf with the contents "umask nnn". Do not include the quotation marks and replace nnn with the desired umask value, such as 027 or 002.
    This will set the user's umask for all applications they launch, such as Finder, TextEdit, or Final Cut Pro, and control the permissions set on new files created by any of these applications.
    Umask for system processes
    In Mac OS X v10.4 and later, create the file /etc/launchd.conf with the contents "umask nnn". Do not include the quotation marks and replace nnn with the desired umask value, such as 027 or 002.
    This will set the umask for all processes. Changing this value is strongly discouraged because it changes the permissions on files used by the system software. If the permissions are too restrictive, dependent software may not work. If the permissions are too open, they may introduce security issues.

  • Pacman.conf.pacsave etc?

    I recently upgraded my system to the newer packages and I noticed some messages when I did this. The pacman.conf.save as well as rc.local.pacsave and a few others were listed as being created. What wasn't clear was what I am supposed to do with these multiple files.
    I noticed that the pacman.conf file was actually different than my original as the IGNOREPKG line was commented whereas I had mine commented out.
    So, can this be clarified? Perhaps even a list of the files that typically get replaced and what users are supposed to do with them.
    Thanks in advance.

    Anything with a .pacsave extension is a configuration file that has been backed up. Your previous pacman.conf file was moved to /etc/pacman.conf.pacsave and the new file from the new package was placed in as /etc/pacman.conf.
    To prevent that from happening, add etc/pacman.conf to one of the NoUpgrade lines in pacman.conf. Then the next time pacman is upgraded, your original config will be preserved and the new file will be saved as /etc/pacman.conf.pacnew.

  • Hi accidentally overwrote new pacman.conf with /etc/pacman.conf.pacnew

    Hi
    I accidentally overwrote etc/pacman.conf with the old /etc/pacman.conf.pacnew.
    Pacman now appears to work but disregards the signing of packages.
    Is there an copy of the pacman.conf from the upgrade around so I can merge
    the two files. perhaps pacman.conf~, but no I think this is overwritten too.

  • Setting up Bumblebee - xorg.conf and /etc/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nvidia

    I have installed Bumblebee and the Nvidia drivers on my Asus N53SV laptop. I am able to run programs such as glxspheres using Optirun. However, I am not sure what to do next if I want to render my desktop using my discrete video card (GT540M) instead of through ordinary Intel graphics.
    Should I copy the file /etc/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nvidia to /etc/X11/xorg.conf?
    Thanks for your help,
    - mark

    I don't see why you would do that. The point of bumblebee is to avoid using the nvidia card unless you start the program with 'optirun'. If you want to render your desktop and use the nvidia card all the time, just don't use bumblebee and directly use the nvidia driver.
    If you really really want to use bumblebee, I guess you could set your login manager to use a xinitrc method, and put optirun in front of the command that launch your desktop.

  • Using ce.conf vs /etc/system

    I'd like to fine tune the behavior of some ce interfaces - for some, I'd like to disable task queues & force transmit serialization, but leave others be. I know you can set ce_taskq_disable & ce_start_cfg in /etc/system & get this behavior on all the ce's - but can I change these settings on a per-instance basis in ce.conf?

    Yes, you can, but on my V440, it doesn't work:

  • No local.conf in /etc/fonts

    trying to get additioanl fonts and making everything look great but no local.conf in the above location!!
    Where did it go, how do I generate a new one, or do I have to write it from scratch?

    OK....now you confused me.  is Locale.conf just a simulink to another file/location?  I just pacmaned ttf and would like to utilize them.  On top of this, there are a couple of modifications to the above file that are recommended for LCD monitors to reduce fuzziness.
    Should there be a general unmodified version to work from, or is it written from scratch?

  • A little confused about HDV to DVCPro HD etc

    Hi, a couple of people have told me to convert my HDV footage to DVCpro for editing / compositing / fades etc because of the quicker workflow in FCP.
    Ideally I'd like to output 720p
    Does this sound like a good solution... If so should I:
    a) Convert all footage using compressor before starting
    b) Just create a DVCPro HD timeline in FCP and render the files there
    c) Make a DVCPro HD sequence and use something like nattress plugins to create de-interlaced 720p footage..
    d) None of the above..
    Also, I know I don't 'need' a RAID 0 for HDV, but would I get any substantial improvement if working in DVCPro HD or Motion projects etc.
    I'm working on a Quad Mac Pro with 3gb Ram.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Shane, I am using a Sony HDR-HC1. I'm not sure if the outputs from the camera will plug into the card.
    What outputs do you have from the camera? Ah...looking it up I see that it has an S-Video jack. Ick...I wouldn't go that route. Best to rent an HDV deck and use component out. Or upconvert after with compressor.
    Fenster:
    if I wanted to make my life easier when I color correct and key out my green screen I should convert my footage to DVCPRO HD
    Shooting a key with HDV to begin with is not the wisest decision. The HUGE amount of compression. I will also say that pulling a key with DVCPRO HD isn't the best either, but is more doable. I don't think converting HDV to DVCPRO HD would make pulling a key any easier. Compression is already there.

  • Help! Confusion over how to setup intel3945 wireless and rc.conf

    Hi,
    I'm very confused.  I've already read through all the wikis and searched many forum posts.  I can't get my wireless intel3945 to work on my dell vostro 1400.
    Iwconfig says the wireless card is at wlan0 and dmesg | grep iwl says it has detected it.  However, when I try a iwlist wlan0 scan it returns :
    wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down
    I think the problem is that I don't know how to setup rc.conf correctly or use the command line to test the wireless.  Forum posts say many different things on how this is done.
    These are the steps I have taken:
    uninstalled the ipw3945 and ipw3945-ucode and ipw3945d.
    installed iwlwifi and iwlwifi-3945-ucode
    in my rc.conf modules, added iwl3945.
    I'm not sure how to setup the networking section, this what I have now:
    lo="lo 127.0.01"
    eth0="dhcp"
    wlan0="dhcp"
    INTERFACES=(lo etho)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
    ROUTES=(!gateway)
    And in my dameons I have 'network'.
    How can I scan for networks and connect to them on the commandline?  I'd prefer not to use a gui tool because they never work and never tell me why they're not working.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Cheers!

    (less complicatd than the above)
    don't use netcfg2
    Why?
    no particular reason.
    Simply when I configured wireless, netcfg2 wasn't available. Since then it (wireless) works, so not having any problems, I did not modify network setup. Next week or so I am going to install Arch on my daughter's laptop (per her request ) so I will try netcfg2.
    So this is what I have for ipw3945 wpa2 or iwl3945 with wpa2
    Below you will find a lot of words so read slowly but there is not much actual work
    ipw3945 setup
    kernel 2.6.23.x (Arch or vanilla)
    or
    kernel 2.6.24/2.6.24-gitX (patched with ipw3945 patch from gentoo -> compiling separate module for 2.6.24 may fail. if you want kernel patch I can post a link)
    for default kernel install Arch packages for ipw3945, ipw3945d, ipw3945-ucode
    or
    if you want to compile modules, you will also need ieee80211 (first uninstall kernel's default, then install from sources otherwise ieee80211 from sources may refuse to install)
    modify /etc/rc.conf
    DAEMONS=(.... @ipw3945d @network ....)
    that is all you don't need to add ipw3945 to MODULES=(.....)
    because ipw3945d will automatically start ipw3945 module
    do not list eth1 in network config section:
    lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
    eth0="dhcp"
    INTERFACES=(eth0)
    as you see, in my case only eth0 (wired) is listed and eth1 (wireless) is not listed
    now you are done with basic network configuration for ipw3945, restart network/computer to bring up ipw3945d/ipw3945
    check if modules are up and basic network is set:
    #lsmod | grep ipw
    #ifconfig -a
    or
    #iwconfig
    if all is o.k. configure
    WPA2:
    configure router for wpa2
    client: basically follow Arch wiki:
    configure wpa_supplicant (installed already of course)
    #wpa_passphrase your_ssid your_psk
    keep terminal window open with created encrypted wpa passphrase  and in the second terminal window edit /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
    network={
            ssid="your_ssid"
            scan_ssid=1
            proto=WPA RSN
            key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
            pairwise=CCMP TKIP
            group=CCMP TKIP
                    psk=whatever_output_from_wpa_passphrase
    Above pairwise and group setup will depend on your router (network capabilities)
    almost done:
    run
    #wpa_supplicant -Bw -Dwext -i eth1 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    the above assumes that your ipw3945 is set as eth1 (from iwconfig output)
    to connect to the network I am using "wireless assistant" http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.ph … tent=21832
    that is all for ipw3945. You may automate network starting/connecting to wpa2 by writing simple script.
    iwl3945
    --kernel 2.6.23.x
    install iwlwifi and iwlwifi-3945-ucode
    --kernel 2.6.24.x
    install only iwlwifi-3945-ucode as kernel has iwlwifi module incorporated
    default iwlwifi does not support LED so I suggest to install something like knemo for kde to show active network icon. The latest iwlwifi does support LED but it is not yet incorporated into 2.6.24 vanilla kernel.
    if you have kernel 2.6.23.x with external iwlwifi module
    modify /etc/rc.conf
    and add iwlwifi to
    MODULES=(.....)
    nothing else is required.
    if you have kernel 2.6.24 with integrated iwlwifi module you don't have to edit /etc/rc.conf
    As in the case of ipw3945, I do not list wireless interface (wlan0) in /etc/rc.conf
    for kernel 2.6.23.x
    load module/restart network or simply restart computer
    check if module is up
    #lsmod | grep iwl
    #iwconfig
    or
    #ifconfig -a
    WPA2
    same wpa_supplicant.conf as above, so if you already have it no need for modifications.
    start wpa2
    #wpa_supplicant -Bw -Dwext -i wlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    the only difference in the command is wireless interface: wlan0
    connect to the network, again I am using "wireless assistant"
    vpn
    I am using cisco vpn. Client is provided by vpn host, cisco does not provide vpn client for individual download, but you can find it on line.
    vpn host will provide pcf file for you
    - install vpnclient
    - copy your VPN profile (vpn.pcf) to the
    /etc/CiscoSystemsVPNClient/Profiles
    directory
    -- start vpn client
    /opt/cisco-vpnclient/bin/vpnclient connect vpn pcf_file_name
    provide username and password and off you go
    From my experience none of linux gui for vpn works reliably so you will have to resort to the command line.
    That is all, a lot of writing, but actual ipw3945 and iwl3945 configuration is straightforward and very short.
    Hopefully this will work for you.
    forgot to add regarding vpnclient (cisco)
    you will have to modify
    /etc/init.d/vpnclient_init
    line 38 and line 101
    replace
    /sbin/lsmod
    with
    /bin/lsmod

    Is it safe to use new  /etc/pam.d/login?

    I assume that tomegun meant using the new one rather than booting with the old one. (The latter might also be fine - I've no idea.)
    I'm a bit confused about the role which /etc/pam.d/passwd is playing now. Should options I've added here be duplicated for the password lines in e.g. system-auth? Currently, I have this in passwd:
    password required pam_unix.so sha512 shadow nullok rounds=65536
    but since system-auth etc. seems to have its own password lines, I'm wondering if having this in passwd is now either pointless or at least insufficient.
    The default set up, if I understand it correctly, is not actually that different from the old one. The diff above is missing the additions:
    > auth include system-local-login
    > account include system-local-login
    > session include system-local-login
    I think this is invoking the stuff in /etc/pam.d/system-local-login which in turn calls system-login and system-auth, for example. If you compare the cumulative effect, I believe there are only minor differences which don't impact security e.g. to do with announcing the last login time or displaying message of the day.
    EDIT: So adding that stuff all back into login just duplicates stuff with maybe some very minor differences such as requiring message of the day etc.

  • I have lost the top three lines (toolbars?), containing File, Edit, etc; back button, home, etc; and most visited, etc. How can I get them back?

    Somehow, I have deleted the top three rows from my home page. All I have left is the AOL home page. I need to get back the "File, Edit, View,etc." line, and the "Page back arrow, Home icon, etc."

    * In Firefox 3.6 versions on Windows and Firefox 4 on Windows and Linux it's possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar.
    * Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
    * Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

  • I have problems with my 7510 holding a wireless network ip address 192.168 etc It says 169. etc

    My HP Photosmart all in one (which is only a few months old) stopped comunicating with my Netgear DGN1000 Adsl router a few days before Xmas.
    Instead of the 192.168.0.9 ip address that it used before I powered off the router, iit came back with an address of 169.254.249.128; "Configuration source" = "Auto ip"; a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0; and Default gateway of 0.0.0.0; I know these are wrong, so I tried a fixed ip address of 192.168.0.201, a SM of 255.255.255.0; and a DG of 192.168.0.1; This was OK, but overnight, it all went back to the auto ip settings.
    I eventually managed to contact HP, and the guy spent 75 minutes with me trying to reset things, and eventually he reckoned that the Netgear router was not allowing the printer access via some ports (which he emailed me a list of) and something he said I needed to tell my isp (Virgin media) “FLOOD DETECTION SET TO OFF” & “SP1 FIREWALL SET TO OFF”
    On contacting VM, they were insistant that their router was not at fault - they could open the 12 or so ports, at a cost to me of £60! (I declined this)
    HP had told me how to set up for Ad Hoc printing (by-passing the router) which had worked during our testing.
    VM had been into my settings for the router, via a remote access device, and checked a few settings, but the only one I saw them alter was changing from CH10 to CH11.
    I certainly could not get the printer to accept the 192.168.1.201 after this anyway.
    Following this, I reset the printers Network Defaults, and reconfigured the wireless settings. It did seem OK, and running on 192.168.0.9
    I have now reset the IP address to Manual on the printer, entering the 192.168.0.9 and 255.255.255.0; and 192.168.0.1;
    Touch wood it has held up for a few days, but I havn't switched anything off (but overnight before it went awry!)
    I'm not convinced I have got a fix here, and would welcome any suggestions as to what I can still do.
    Maybe I have already done some, as I have "completely uninstalled, and reinstalled the HP7510 software on my Desktop PC.
    Incidently the printer is set up on 3 PC's in the house - a desktop running W7 HP 64 bit, a Notebook (same OS variant) and a Laptop running W7 HP, but 32 bit.
    All were unable to print when I was having issues.
    I would welcome any suggestions to get a more permanat fix. (I would rather have found a definite fault) I have other routers I could try, or I could open ports, but my question is - If I needed these ports open, and other settings altered (Flood detection etc) why did the printer work for the first few weeks I had it set up, and why did powering off the router cause such issues? (suppose I need to power off the router again in the future - it does happen)
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hey Dave,
    Great post with good information.
    As you mentioned, the printer came back with a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx style IP address. This is normally produced when the device is not able to get a complete connection with the router, thus the router gives it a temporary internal IP address.
    The normal suggestion when a printer stops maintaining a connection is to set a Static IP. This is done by using the manual IP feature you mentioned using. This locks the device to those network settings and even when the network is restarted the information is retained. This should be the fix to the issue.
    Hope this helps.
