Clusterware upgrade to 10.2.0.4

Will there be any separate patch to upgrade oracle clusterware from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4....
why because we installed oracle clusterware 10.2.0.1 and Oracle RAC database 10.2.0.1 and upgraded with patch 10.2.0.4.....which upgraded both clusterware and database to 10.2.0.4
Now due to some problems clusterware got crashed and we installed new clusterware 10.2.0.1 and need to upgrade clusterware to 10.2.0.4 with out touching the Oracle RAC database which is already upgraded to 10.2.0.4...
early response is appreciated

AIX is the operating system..... we installed new CRS ans it is functioning properly but now the problem is Clusterware version is 10.2.0.1 and ORacle RAC database version is 10.2.0.4.....
I read in some docs where Clusterware version should be same or newer level with Oracle RAC database home...
If there any patch can u just give the patch number for Clusterware 10.2.0.4....so that it can be downloaded from metalink.....

Clusterware sits in its own home ... what specifically is the issue not answered by the docs so we can help with the current issue?
Installation docs can be found at http://docs.oracle.com and there is additional support at metalink.

  • Clusterware upgrade

    Hello,
We have 10.1.0.3 database with 2 nodes RAC environment on Solaris SPARC 64 bit . We have to upgrade this RAC environment to 10.2.0.3 database .
I couldnt find any proper documents to upgarde clusterware and RAC database as well.I got some document from OTN which is given below. It is just a small piece of information
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14205/crsunix.htm#BEHIHBBF.
Please provide some document with steps for upgarde clusterware ASAP, if any has the document or performed the upgarde process .
    Thanks in advance
    Raj

I'm not sure what additional information you require. The documentation you found and referenced in your post is what I've used to perform this upgrade previously.
Are there parts of the process you have specific questions about?
I should mention that the documentation you follow is what you wrote as you did the upgrade on your test system. I hope you're not going to say you don't have a test system :).
If you have specific questions, please post them.

  • Clusterware Upgrade 12.1.0.2 complete

    Hi,
Currently the cluster with the entire GI + RDBMS 11.2.0.4 stack with BP 11.2.0.4.12 (October 2014) is installed.
Now, a upgrade will be made to 12.1.0.2.
    - Step 1 => GI 12.1.0.2
    - Step 2 => CPU 12.1.0.2.4
How to check whether a GI 12.1.0.2 installation is complete, except on "crsctl query crs active version" after the root.sh on the "last" node was successful.
    My main question is:
Do you have an idea on how to check a GI installation or upgrade is complete?
    - Size of the software du -ksh?
    - How can I check that all software components are correctly installed?
    - Are there any new ressources which have to be keep in mind.
      - For example the MGMTDB, GIMR repository and so on.
Is there a tool or something to check all this stuff?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
so I did the check via
    cluvfy
    comp software -n  labn1
      Verifying software
      Check: Software
        3162 files verified
      Software check passed
      Verification of software was successful.
and with option  POST CRS verification script

  • Oracle 10g to 11g Upgrade - Oracle Clusterware problem

    Oracle10g RAC (2 Nodes) RHEL 4 64bit
    Hi All,
I have began the procedure for upgrading Oracle Clusterware to 11g. However, during the install OUI was giving me certain error messages like it couldn't transfer the OUI installlogs to node 2. Well, I kept pushing through the install and after I ran the last rootupgrade script on node 2 it gave me the following error:

Setting CRS configuration values in /crs/home/install/paramfile.crs
So I ignored the error for the time being and after that I checked the status of crs and it gave me the following:

So i tried to bring it back up by doing a crs_stop -all and crs_start -all and it gave me the following error:

I am thinking that all of this is caused by the various issues I had with the install. If I am incorrect, then please let me know. If it is true, I would like to know if there are any 11g docs on how to clean up a failed clusterware upgrade. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on any of the situations I am having.
    Thank you

    Hi Chandra,
Did CVU report any problems before the upgrade? No, there were no errors reported by CVU before the upgrade.
I don't there is note out there for cleaning 11g CRS
install...and I think can very use the 10g CRS note -
239998.1.Yeah I might have to go that way.
I have both the 11g CRS install and upgrade from 10g
    to 11CRS at
    http://chandradba.blogspot.com/2007/08/oracle-11g-rac-
    install-on-red-hat-50.html
    and
    http://chandradba.blogspot.com/2008/02/oracle-10g-crs-
    upgrade-to-11g-crs.html
see if it helps.Yup, your guide is very simple, clear and error proof :) That's how mine when pretty much except right around 75% I started getting these strange errors of files not being able to be transferred to node 2. Anyways, it shouldn't be a problem as none of those errors were configuration related...or else I would have a messed up cluster.
Well, I actually rebooted both machines and now the whole CRS stack is up!! So I guess I am ok. We'll just have to wait and see.
Thanks for your help Chandra...I always appreciate it.

  • Error Upgrading RAC 10.2.0.3 on Windows 32bit

    Hey all,
I was in the processes of upgrading a 3 node RAC running on Windows 2003 Server and had a bit of an issue:
First, the Clusterware upgrade worked fine (no thanks to the patch instructions but anyway)
Second, I verified the entire RAC still worked with the new Clusterware by rebooting everything. All looked well.
Third, I started the instrcutions to actually patch the RAC instances and database.
    - stopped the services as per the README
    - stopped ASM, nodeapps, etc...
(basically everyhting was down on each node)
    - launched the OUI on one of the RAC nodes
    - chose the Oracle Home
    - The OUI autoselected all of my RAC nodes for patching (which is OK - thats what I wanted)
    - It started to deploy the files abd at 80% or so, it said "certain files are in use by a service..."
At this point, I verified that NO Oracle services were running (unless you count the OUI Java process).
Attempted to hit "Retry" (I know...I know...) and that didn't work.
Other patches have worked pretty well, this is a first for me.
So....any thoughts? Is it possibly something in Windows that I need to shut down?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

Why dont you run Process Explorer and see which process is accessing your oracle files?
You can get it from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
Once i had this problem while upgrading on NT and OUI threw error asthe files are being used and later found that some product from CA to scan the machine was keeping one of the oracle file. Killed that CA stuff and resumed the upgradation.

We are in the process of going live for Monday and there is no Metalink. Any help will be really appreciated.

    Hi buddy,
I had a similar problem and I hit the BUG:8413088 (Metalink note 805536.1) after I had applied the patchset 10.2.0.4 in the environment.
To correcting the problem I've only changed the script $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/racgvip and changed the lines bellow
    from
    O1=`$NETSTAT -n -I $IF | $AWK "{ if (/^$_IF/) {print \\$5; exit}}"`
    O2=`$NETSTAT -n -I $IF | $AWK "{ if (/^$_IF/) {print \\$5; exit}}"`
    to
    O1=`$NETSTAT -n -I $IF | $AWK "{ if (/^$_IF/) {print \\$6; exit}}"`
    O2=`$NETSTAT -n -I $IF | $AWK "{ if (/^$_IF/) {print \\$6; exit}}"`
If it works, You will confirmt that You are hitting thi bug and can apply the patch for BUG 8341679 ( I hadn't applied this patch, I only had changed the script at all).
    Hope it helps,

  • SAP SRM Prod with Oracle DB and AIX 5.3 Performance Issue.

    Hi Basis Gurus,
Today my SAP PRD system all of a sudden was running slow and users had difficulties executing TCodes as it took minutes before the screen appeared. My system is SAP SRM 4.00, Oracle Release 11.2.0.1.0 and AIX 5.3.
From Basis point of view , we noticed that all the work process were hanged due to RFCs' occupying it.Couldnt investigate further on the system as we needed to restart asap because users needed to log on. A quick check on SICK shows no errors. What we managed to find out is that we needed to check this parameter below and set it accordingly:-
    rdisp/rfc_min_wait_dia_wp:-
    Definition
Number of work processes kept free for other users.
    Use
This parameter is used to reserve a number of dialog work processes for dialog mode. It prevents parallel RFCs from occupying all the processes.
The parameter rdisp/wp_no_dia specifies the absolute number of dialog work processes.
Unit: number of dialog work processes
    Default value: 1
    Example
If 10 dialog work processes are configured for the instance (rdisp/wp_no_dia = 10) and the parameter rdisp/rfc_min_wait_dia_wp  = 3 is set, parallel RFCs can occupy a maximun of 7 dialog work processes. Three dialog work processes always remain free for dialog mode.
There are 20 DIA processes in our system, perhaps reserving a minimum of about 5 work processes for DIA users will be useful via the parameter.
So my first question would be is there any other suggestions besides adjusting the mentioned parameter above in order to ensure that no work processors going into hang state due to RFCs' occupying it as this issue always happens at the end of the month only when there are massive users accessing it.
When we went for a restart of the system we encountered another issue. Steps to the issue are as below:-
    1) Did a proper shutdown of Oracle and SAP.
    2) When we start using startsap script, it doesn't start DB so we started DB manually but listener was having problem
        so we stopped all.
    3) We also did a cleanipc, it too throws below error:-
    sidadm> cleanipc <systemno> remove
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program cleanipc because of the following errors:
0509-130 Symbol resolution failed for cleanipc because:
0509-136   Symbol memmove (number 106) is not exported from
                   dependent module /usr/sap/sid/SYS/exe/run/libsapu16.so.
0509-192 Examine .loader section symbols with the
                   'dump -Tv' command.
    4) Also the Listener file has no contents,it's null file.
    5) This is another error :-
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program /oracle/sid/112_64/bin/tnslsnr because of the following errors:
0509-150   Dependent module /oracle/sid/112_64/lib/libttsh11.so could not be loaded.
0509-101   The module has too many section headers
        or the file is damaged
The libttsh11.so file was empty dated 25th timestamp as below in PRD:-
    -rw-rr    1 sid   dba               0 Nov 25 07:12 libttsh11.so
Further checking has let me to understand this is an Oracle Bug from this link:-
    http://gavinsoorma.com/2009/12/11-1-0-6-clusterware-upgrade-to-11-1-0-7/
This Oracle bug only happens in an Upgrade time and how could this happen to my Production system during a restart process.
Also this system was restarted during the last weekend's maintainance window and it came up with no issues.
    6) We copied over the libttsh11.so from our QA environment to PRD and did a Startup:-
-rwxr-x---    1 sid   dba        65967496 Nov 25 07:40 libttsh11.so (This is the copied over file from QA)
    7) After Startup everything has been in order till now.
My second question is what went wrong with the libttsh11.so file. How could it be 0 size in PRD when no signs of changes had happen to the PRD system. Is this a proven Oracle Bug or something else since I have never encountered anything like this before. Hope all the Gurus here could shed some light into my 2 questions as I am looking for positive answers.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    John

    Hi,
Firstly I would suggest you to upgrade your database from Oracle Release 11.2.0.1.0 to Oracle Release 11.2.0.2 . This is the recommended Oracle 11g database version  for SAP solutions. Many of your problem will get resolved with it.
    Question 1:
So my first question would be is there any other suggestions besides adjusting the mentioned parameter above in order to ensure that no work processors going into hang state due to RFCs' occupying it as this issue always happens at the end of the month only when there are massive users accessing it.
For immediate resolution the approach you have followed is correct viz limiting number of dialog processes for RFC. Secondly you need to analyze why RFC processing takes so much time. You need check which programs are getting executed by those RFC.
Generate EarlyWatch report for more detailed view
    Question 2:
My second question is what went wrong with the libttsh11.so file. How could it be 0 size in PRD when no signs of changes had happen to the PRD system. Is this a proven Oracle Bug or something else since I have never encountered anything like this before.
The libttsh11.so library cannot be found in the related directory.
    Cause
The file system is mounted using CIO option, but per Note 257338.1 Direct I/O (DIO) and Concurrent I/O (CIO) on AIX 5L, an ORACLE_HOME on a filesystem mounted with "cio" option is not supported.
Such a configuration will cause, installation, relinking and other unexpected problems.
    Solution
Disable the CIO option on the filesystem.

  • Steps for upgradin 10.2.0.3.0 -4

    Hai all,
am upgrading my clusterware and db from 10.2.0.3. - 10.2.0.4
Am going to use the following steps :
Can anyone have a glance on this and let me know if these steps are ok?
    non-Rolling upgrade
    1) SELECT version FROM v$timezone_file;
If this query reports version 4, no action is required; in this case, continue with steps described in section 7.6.
If this reports a version lower or higher then 4, see OracleMetalink document 553812.1 Actions for the DSTv4 update in the Release 10.2.0.4 patchset.
    2) Stop all this service in both the nodes :
    OracleDBConsoleSID
    OracleServiceSID
    OracleJobSchedulerSID
    OracleASMServiceASMSID
    OracleHOME_NAMETNSListenerLISTENER_nodename
    Oracle Object Service
    OracleClusterVolumeService
    OracleCRService
    OracleCSService
    OracleEVMService
    OracleRemExecService
    3) Installing the Oracle Database 10g Patch Set Interactively
RUN OUI (select both the nodes)
After completing successfully, run crs_home\bin\opmd -install on both the nodes to install OPMN ..
    4) Run patch102.bat to upgrade the current node, and to automatically start the Oracle Clusterware services:
    C:\> CRS_home\install\patch102.bat
    5) To upgrade the rest of the nodes, go to the next node and enter the following command:
    C:\> CRS_home\install\patch102.bat
UPgrade the database using DBUA or manually ..
    Kai

Note, You don't have to shutdown all nodes for the clusterware part. This part can be in a rolling fashion.
    have a look at this:

    Hi Rajeys,
I read all the documents but i was not able to find the information that i was looking. Below i am providing my cluster node configuration and version -
    1) No of Node in cluster - 2 (node1 ,node2)
    2) OCR (clusterware) version - 10.2.0.4
    3) Storage type - NAS storage (we are not using ASM).
Now link provided by you is to upgrade ASM from 10.2.0.3 to 11GR2 but we are not using ASM as storage we are using NAS storage. Do we have any link or document that help me to upgrade oracle clusterware only without ASM from version 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2 .
    Thanks in advance

  • From wehre can I download Oracle Clusterware 11.1.0.7 (upgrade)

I need to upgrade my Clusterware installation to version 11.1.0.7, but I can't find a place from where to download it (Google doesn't help).
I've installed Oracle Clusterware 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0) for Linux x86-64 from this page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/111060-linx8664soft-099033.html
Please, if you know, tell me where can I find Clusterware 11.1.0.7 (for Redhat 5.4 64x).
    Thank you.

Yes, you need a valid CSI (customer support identifier) to access the metalink support.
