CM 2012 SP1 Reporting services SPN question

Hi
I have a issue where a remote console or web browser cannot see any reports. When logging onto the site locally they can access reports fine with the console.
Primary site with all roles CM and SQL local.
SSRS service is running under a domain user account
In the AdminUI.log there are HTTP 401 unauthorized errors. Will i find this error on the server in any logs?
There is no SPN registered for SSRS service account to the server
My suspicions are that a SPN needs to be registered, but if i register a SPN for (HTTP/server domain user acc) how can i find out if i will have a problem with other web apps (i have MP, DP on box) like suggested below
HTTP is
the service class. The Report Server Web service runs in HTTP.SYS. A by-product of creating an SPN for HTTP is that all Web applications
on the same computer that run in HTTP.SYS (including applications hosted in IIS) will be granted tickets based on the domain user account. If those services run under a different account, the authentication requests will fail.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281382.aspx

I added the service account to the WAA group and it did not resolve the issue.
I removed the RSWindowsNegotiate setting
and it works fine...  I guess its due to a SPN not being set, I dont want to have any webserver conflictions if I set the SPN for HTTP so i went for removing the above setting.
For information:
After you confirm the problem, you can address it in the following ways:
Register an SPN for the Report Server service under the domain user account. For more information, see How to: Register a Service Principal
Name (SPN) for a Report Server.
Change the service account to run under a built-in account such as Network Service. Built-in accounts map HTTP SPN to the Host SPN, which is defined when you join a computer to your network. For more information, see How
to: Configure a Service Account for Reporting Services.
Use NTLM. NTLM will generally work in cases where Kerberos authentication fails. To use NTLM, remove RSWindowsNegotiate from the RSReportServer.config file and verify that only RSWindowsNTLM is
specified. If you choose this approach, you can continue to use a domain user account for the Report Server service even if you do not define an SPN for it.

    Hello,
When i open Reporting from management console, reporting work space empty, but when i turn off windows firewall (Windows 2008R2 SP1) on my SQL server 2008 R2 SP2 i can see all MP/Data in Reporting action panel.
    I've opened these ports :
    1433/TCP, 1434/UDP, 5723/TCP, 137/UDP, 138/UDP, 139/TCP, 445/TCP,135/TCP,
    But it did not help.
What is the configuration of the firewall for Reporting Service?

  • SQL 2012 SP1 Reporting Services for SharePoint (2013) - Install-SPRSService Not Available

So, at this point, I've blown away an otherwise functional SP2013 + SQL2012SP1 multi-server farm trying to get this to work, only to end up with the same results. Irrespective of whether I install Reporting Services before or after the SP2013 server is in
a farm, SSRS does not seem to be enabled in the farm. I cannot add a new SSRS service application (the menu item does not exist); I cannot start the SSRS service on server (because it isn't here); I cannot execute the Install-SPRSService cmd in SP (yes, the
SharePoint) Powershell (PS comes back with this error:
Install-SPRSservice : The term 'Install-SPRSservice' is not recognized as the
name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the
spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is

Quite simply, something's broken. I've followed a couple of detailed how-to's on technet and elsewhere... Right at the point when I should be able to create the SSRS service application, the wheels come off the cart. I've tried Import-Module'ing the SQLCMDLETS
and SQLPS PS modules...nothing... The strange thing is that after the installation of the SSRS, if I happen to go into the General Application Settings in Central Admin, I see a new item after Content Deployment:
    $Resources:ReportServerResources,AdminReportServerGroupTitle;
    $Resources:ReportServerResources,ManageIntegrationSettings; |
    $Resources:ReportServerResources,AddTrustedAccounts; |
    $Resources:ReportServerResources,SetServerDefaults;
When I uninstall, this goes away.
Greatly appreciate any suggestions you can offer because this is driving me crazy, and I have tried everything I can think of to get this going...

Make sure you are running SharePoint 2010 Management Shell not PowerShell.
Also make sure you are running SharePoint 2010 Management Shell with administrator privileges. Right click the icon and click, "Run As Administrator".
    You must have installed "Reporting
Services add-in for SharePoint Products" on the server where you are executing "Install-SPService".

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - Reporting Services question

In testing SCCM 2012, I put it on a an existing remote SQL instance. This server also housed SCOM among other applications. I set up reporting services successfully and got reports working.
A few months later I decided to setup and test reporting in SCOM for Audit Collection Services (ACS). I did not know at the time but SCOM takes over SSRS and makes it unusable for any other application. This broke my SCCM reporting. I finally reinstalled
SSRS and got rid of the SCOM piece and all is back to normal.
I am now planning for deployment in production. Our DB team wants to stick the DB for SCCM on a server that will house many other databases (eventually).
My question is: Does SCCM reporting play well with others? That is, if I set up SSRS on a SQL server with other applications - should I request that SCCM is the only application using that particular SSRS instance? Or should it be ok to reside on an SSRS
instance that may eventually house other applications (NOT SCOM).
    Thanks in advance!

a couple hundred clients; base specs for the primary server; and it would be a VM
With all that said, I think our DB team still wants us to use their remote SQL server (physical) so I will probably go with that as it is still supported and our environment will be relatively tiny compared to typical SCCM deployments. Of course, if there
are known issues or advisories against having a remote SQL please let me know (and provide a link).
My main concern was using this remote SQL server and setting up SSRS and having other applications conflicting with it. As long as SCCM plays well with others - I am good to go. Thanks for the replies.

  • SCOM 2012 R2 Reporting services installation error - data reader account

I have successfully installed SCOM 2012 R2 and SQL 2012 SP1 on the same server. I was trying to install the reporting server piece of SCOM.
When I get to the part that asks for a domain account, I get this error:
"Data Reader account provided is not same as that in the management server"
The account is not the same as the management server, and it does have read access to the data warehouse and reporting databases. Is there some other permission this account needs for reporting services?
    Thanks.

    Adding more info:
I usually create the following account for SQL:
AD accounts for the following to be used with SQL Services:
SQL Agent for SQL Server Agent
SQL Analysis Services for SQL Server Analysis
SQL Database Engine for SQL Server Database Engine
SQL Reporting Services for SQL Server Reporting Services
For SCOM I create the following accounts:
SCOM DR - Used to deploy reports
SCOM DWR - for writing data from the management server to the reporting DW
SCOM MSA - Performs default actions
SCOM SDK - Used for updating/reading information from the operations Manager Database - Needs to be local administrator on the SCOM server

  • Trouble Installing 2012 R2 Reporting Services - Version Mismatch Error in logs

    I recently upgraded an instance of SCOM 2012 SP1 to 2012 R2.
I got no errors installing the all of the components except for the reporting services.
As part of my troubleshooting, I ended up just uninstalling the SP1 version of reporting services and just tried a fresh install of R2 Reporting Services.
When installing reporting services, I get to the step it asks you to put in your management server. I do that, and I get an error about the versions not matching. If I look in the OpsMGrSetupWizard.txt in the setup logs, I see the following error.
Error:The management server is a different version than the current setup build. Please use a different management server or the correct version of setup. Server Version: 7.0.9538.0
On both of my management servers, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\3.0\Setup shows 7.1.10226.0 for currentversion, ServerVersion and UIVersion
I've tried running the install from the Action account, the SDK Account and my own account, all having admin privileges on the system, same error. I've run the resetSRS.exe against the SQL server in case there were leftovers from the previous SP1 install
    of reporting services.
My searches here and google haven't found anything that has helped.

OK, after digging around some more I found the following.
In the SCOM Console, my management servers were still in maintenance mode from the upgrade somehow, and in the agent managed section for management servers, the version still listed the 7.0.9538.0 version. I removed them from maintenance mode, and within
a few minutes their returned to a monitored state, and the version updated to the 7.1.10226.0 version.
Once that was up to date, I reran the reporting services install on my db server, and it went through properly.
So it looks like the reporting services install is dependent on some part of the management servers updating their version in the db.

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 Report Timed out

    Hi All,
My large reports are timing out after 30 minutes in SCOM 2012 SP1, with the error: The Operation has timed out
I'm trying to run the Performance Detail report from Microsoft Generic Report Library against Windows Server 2008 Operating System group (1400 servers) for last 1 year for Percent memory used. I can run the same report for Windows Server 2012 Operating System

I've already verified and configured the reporting services for reports to not time out.

    Thanks, Harry :-)

    Hi There,
Based on my knowledge, When ever a SQL query is ran against any database the query output is executed and stored in TempDB and then it is shown to your SSMS or reporting application.
So i would suggest you check the size of the temp SQLDB and see if auto growth is enabled for that and does your drive as well have enough space to hold that temp DB in its local drive if the DB grows its self.
As querying 1 years data for 1400 servers is a huge data and requires lot of time and space.
I had a similar issue here, Look here:

  • How do I update my VMM 2012 SP1 Guest Services to be the same as the Hosts?

    VMM 2012 SP1 and Server 2012 Hyper-V Cluster
How do I update my VMM Guest Services to be the same as the Hosts?
In VMM 2012 SP1 I right click on a VM and select “Install Virtual Guest Services” it installs as expected.
    Cluster validation reports this error:
The following virtual machines are running integration services that does not match the host computer. You must update the
integration services on the virtual machines or the host computer to the same version.
I am able to go to the VM on host and update the Guest Services using the hyper-v manager but I would like it to work in VMM.
The version on the ISOs on the host is.  6.2.9200.16433 and the version being installed by VMM is 6.2.9200.16383.
I am not sure where VMM gets the it’s guests services from.
Any idea on how I update VMM to match the host?
    Thanks,
    -Lee

I hope this does not have to be done from each VM in the cluster (hundreds for me in some clusters)?
I am stunned this cant be done in VMM!!
Validate your cluster????  I am hoping cluster validation is better/faster/less prone to time out storage during the storage tests in 2012?
Does Microsoft know how easy this is to do in VMware? (shift click all VM's, right click "Install/Upgrade VMware Tools)
    Thanks, -Lindy
I know right - I am really trying to be positive about this 'great stuff' that MS have brought us, but really - Going back to the Hosts to do each vm individually??? And saying you can do it in Powershell.....
I loved the days of DOS, I still use the concepts of it, but I thought we had (or that we were) evolving!!!!!

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 - Offline Servicing failure - Failed to find or access the update binaries to be applied on the image

    Hi there
Trying to patch a new Windows 7 SP1 image within SCCM 2012 SP1, but it's failing.
I've searched for information on the failure messages I am seeing, but although there is a LOT of information online concerning Offline Servicing failures, I can't find anything on the errors I am seeing.
I've tried injecting a single update, five updates and ten updates, no difference, same messages.
We have McAfee Access Protection disabled, as we know Offline Servicing simply won't work if this is running.
In the console, in Schedule Update Status for the image I am trying to update, the following message is shown:
"Failed to find or access the update binaries to be applied on the image."
That sounds as if the process can't find the actual .cab file for any update I've tried to inject, but I don't know why it wouldn't be able to do that, we have Software Updates configured and the .cab files are on the same server.
When I looked at the OfflineServicingMgr.log file, I see the following entries:

"Completed processing image package PackageID. Status = Failed"
As I say, there's a lot of information available re Offline Servicing but I haven't found anything with these particular messages.
If anyone has encountered this before, I'd appreciate any information you have.

    John.

    Hi,
I think file named 'NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS’ might be causing this issue. If this file is present in logical drives, then please give it a shot one more time after deleting this file from the logical drives.
Due to this file, it might be preventing 'smsexec' service to skip the drive when looking for content. So worth a try!
After deleting this file, you also need to restart 'smsexec' service to reflect the changes. You can also verify from below registry value & ensure that all of your logical drives (specially where SCCMContentLib directory resides) should be listed
    over there
    'HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\DP\ContentLibUsableDrives'
    Hope this will help!

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - Reporting Services Point installation - "The Datasource does not exist"

    Hi all,
Quick bit of background, we have SCCM 2012 R2 installed on a Windows 2012 R2 server. We have the SQL back end off box, configured on a SQL 2012 R2 server running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 cluster. Then there is yet another server which runs the reporting
services. I've just tried installing the Reporting Services Point on the srs server but it doesn't appear to have worked that well. Here's the info i've got back:

Has anyone come across this issue before? Must admit, I'm not too hot on the sql side of things so any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, cheers for the swift response.
Garth, i can access SSRS in IE from the SCCM box and it looks a-ok.
Paul, nope can't say I've done any configuration of reporting services - the whole thing has been set up by the database team. Having had a trundle through Reporting Services Configuration Manager, it seems the Database team have set up SSRS in line with
    the walkthrough you posted.
Since i'm not seeing the ConfigMgr_XXX folder appear in SSRS I'm wondering if there's something preventing SCCM from being able to create it. The message
    "Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions
granted to user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM' are insufficient for performing this operation" sounds like the account SCCM is leveraging to perform the install might not have the right permissions in SSRS. Do i need to delegate specific rights to the NT
    AUTHORITY\SYSTEM account in SRS perhaps?

When I right click reports and choose report options and select my sql2012 server I get the below error:
    Configuration Manager
There is a problem connectiong to the specified reporting server. Please check the connection and make sure SQL reporting service is running on the specified server.
    OK
Now if i login to my sql server and open the reporting services configuration manager and go to the report manager url section there are two urls:
    http://sql2012-sccm:80/Reports
    https://sql2012-sccm...net:443/Reports
Clicking on the http link I get your standard there is a problem with the cert click continue to this website in IE.  When I click continue I get the webpage cannot be found.  If i click on the https link I get
a windows security login box.  I login with my user creds and it appears to work, I can get to the SQL server reporting services home page.
If i try to go to either of these pages when Im logged onto my sccm server I get page cannot be displayed.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

That is a pasting error.  The server is running 2012 to be upgraded to 2014 once everything is working hence why its named 2014.
I hadn't notice that. SQL doesn't always like it what the server is renamed after SQL is install.
What exactly is the name of your SQL server now?
BTW, I don't recommend having SQL remote from CM12, too many issues.

  • Operations Manager 2012 R2 Reporting Services and VMM Analysis Database

    Hi all,
    Hi All
I have copied the post below from another post sent out a while ago, didn't get a reply on the fix and I am having the same issues, anyone come across this?
I've integrated SCOM2012 R2 and VMM2012 and everything works fine. The SSAS are installed on the Server hosting the OPSMGR Reporting Server and Databases and the nessecary permissions where set decribed in the technet article
http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/hh882395.aspx. The collations for the DBs are SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS and for SSAS Latin1_General_AS. All SQL Server Components are SQL Server
    2012 SP1 ENG. The OS is Server 2012 R2 SP1 ENG.
When i try to execute The Host Group Forecasting Report the follwing error occured during report execution:
Error: The Subreport can't be displayed.
In the SSAS Logs the follwing Event was logged:
Error (Data mining): The time series case set must be sparse when containing only one case. Server: The operation has been cancelled. Execution of the managed stored procedure GetTimeSeriesForecast failed with the following error: Exception has been thrown
by the target of an invocation..
    Query Text:
    CALL AnalysisStoredProc.GetTimeSeriesForecast('08/31/2014, 71;09/05/2012, 76;', 1);
No other errors are shown in the eventlogs but the SSAS Database VMMAnalysisServerDB size is only 0.02MB.

    Hi Xin
The error I am seeing is
    Report Error
Error: Not enough Historical data provided for this
    Subreport
In the SSAS Logs the following Event was logged:
Error (Data mining): Processing the 'VirtualManager_Model_7d609e9d-23f0-41b2-a6a7-e1f247608bdc' mining model failed because either the training data is empty or there were
no significant attributes found. The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed. Query (1, 6) execution of the managed Stored procedure GetTimeSeriesForecast failed with the following error: No Exception has been thrown
by the target of an invocation.
    Query Text:
    CALL AnalysisStoredProc.GetTimeSeriesForecast('12/17/2014, 1;', 1);
I have checked the VMMAnalysisServerDB and AnalysisStoredProc does exist, I do notice in the error the time stamp is in USA format (MM/DD/YYY) and not UK (DD/MM/YYYY) although
the computers and Analysis server are set to UK locale. Where do you set the User account to UK locale??

  • Crystal Report Service Pack Question

    Hi,
I have some question regarding Crystal Report Service Pack for different version respectively :-
    Crystal Report 9
    1.  I have SP5 and SP7.  Can I just install SP7 without installing SP5 ?
    Crystal Report XI R2
    1.  I have install a distribution of Crystal Report X1 R2 in a non-development server.
Can I install the latest SP6 into that non-development server ?  Which SP6 I should install, preferably a link to that SP would be great.
    NOTE: I am a VS.NET 2003 and 2005 developer.
    Best regards

    - Yes
    Crystal Report XI R2
    1. I have install a distribution of Crystal Report X1 R2 in a non-development server.
Can I install the latest SP6 into that non-development server ?
    - no. From CR XI on, SPs are only meant to be used on development computers. E.g.; a computer that has the CR designer installed. To update your runtime computer, you will have to uninstall the current runtime and install the SP6 runtime:
