CM Repository Garbage Collector - System ID, which one to pick?

I followed instructions in <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/92/99643e67724644e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/92/99643e67724644e10000000a114084/frameset.htm</a>.
When I edit the Task, then I can select a CM System ID with 8 numbers e.g. 12345678. Where does this number come from? Is this the system that I need to select?
When I click on "See also: Content Management System" and edit the System, then this system consists of a number and a description.
I somehow miss the relations. This is quite confusing. Do I need to create a new system, or is the system provided sufficient?
Thanks,
Dieter.

Hi Dieter,
Boris answer is correct.
If you have a normal installation (a simple once) then you have on dispatcher and one java server. The only task for the dispatcher is to dispatch the requests to the available servers. That's all. So the jobs (tasks, processes, threads, ...) are running at the java server. That's why you have to assign a server node. Never ja dispatcher and no dispatcher will be found in the list of content management systems. If you have only one java server you doesn't have to do anything. When you have two or more than you have to assign a java server node.
But take care when removing a java server node when you have assigned tasks to this java server node.

Frank

Yes, there are even defaults for naming them, such as LivingRoom, Bedroom, etc, or you can even enter your own name with the remote for each AppleTV.

I noticed during a scan of my harddisc, that I have two developer folders on my system:

    - Do I need both folders?

  • User gets locked by an external system but which one?

    Hi,
In an abap system, we have changed the password of our administration user. Afterwards, this user gets locked every 5 minutes, obviously because the user and old password has been used to set up communication from another system to the abap system. An RFC connection for instance or whatever. Sure it is possible to check all the systems you can think of to see if the user has been used for such a purpose. But how can you see in the system itself where the call comes from that locks it? I have tried the gateway tracefile but without success. Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    GK

    Hello,
    I would try transaction STAD.
There you should find entries of type RFC with your user.
If you double-click on the line, you get the details. Click on the RFC button.
                                  as Client             as Server
    No. of targets                   0                     1
Click on the highlighted 1 under "as server".
You should get the needed info : the remote destination
    Target         TEST_DEV
    User ID        TESTOC
    RFC Caller     OCHRETIE
Local  destin. bt1suk17v1_DEV_02                IP address xx.xx.xx.xx
Remote destin. bt1suk16v1_DXI_68                IP address yy.yy.yy.yy
    Hope this helps

  • Barcodes barcodes barcodes ... which ones to pick?

No this is not going to be an article on how to add a barcode to your output ... I'll save that for later. We are finalizing our licensing for our new unicode fonts, that we make available to you. As part of the deal we also have the opportunity to get three barcode fonts from the vendor, we'll have a MICR font too.
So heres the question for you all ... which three would you as customers like? There are so many available but we'd like to get three that you'll actually find useful. If you have suggestions please let us know.

How about 3 of 9 barcodes?

  • Variable - which one to pick

    Hi all
I want to be able to extract current month and year for usage with certain queries.
I have the following Init Block -
    SELECT sysdate FROM DB.W_TIME_DIM
The variable for current fiscal year is: CASE WHEN EXTRACT( MONTH FROM CURRENT_DATE ) <= 10 THEN CAST ( EXTRACT( YEAR FROM CURRENT_DATE ) AS INTEGER ) ELSE CAST ( EXTRACT( YEAR FROM CURRENT_DATE ) AS INTEGER ) + 1 END
I wonder - whether I should put it under Session or under Repository tab.
    Thanks

    That depends...
It looks as if the value of this variable only needs to be evaluated once a day, right? (assuming there can not be a change of fiscal year during a working day ;-).
If so, you can put in a repository variable, with an evaluation time of a day or so.
Session variables are re-evaluated for each single session again. So, you can use that for values that depend on the user login for example.

  • Garbage Collector in 5.0

I have nevver known, how the garbage collector internally works. Now a memory problem forces me to understand it. I read several articles but I do not understand them.
    I have a simple question:
Is it possible, that my application will get an OutOfMemoryError even if a garbage-collect would free most of the memory?
    In other words:
Is it assured, that garbage collector will always run before an OutOfMemoryError occurs?
I have an application, which parses hundreds of MB of data. However it is assured, that parsed data wont be hold in memory for long time. Normally my application would run with less then 64 MB.
In Java 1.4.2 I have not encountered any memory problems. But in Java 5.0 I encountered the following problem:
My application runs a very long period of time. During this time, the memory usage is about 16 MB. After that period the memory usage suddenly increases and does not stop increasing until a OutOfMemory Error occurs (this is mostly about 260 MB if I set -Xmx265m).
I am sure that I do not hold references to that much data in my application.
Why does the garbage collector not free the memory?
Is the garbage collector in 5.0 different from the one in 1.4.2? If yes, can I set the garbage collector to be that one of 1.4.2???
    Thanks and regards

  • VirtualBox vs VMware.. which one do you use?

Which one do you all use here?
Which one do you think is better?
Before, when I was using Ubuntu, I always used VirtualBox, I guess I liked it.... But now thinking which one to pick.
I heard in VMware you can run some games (which I can probably run in Wine, but still).

    I use VMware Workstation 7.
While I love Free Software, the Free version of VirtualBox lacks USB support, which is a big loss for me.
So, it's between two pieces of proprietary software, despite one being $0.
Workstation unofficially supports OS X guests (questionable legally, use Google), seems to have better guest desktop speed, and has better SMP and video acceleration for me.
Also, VirtualBox has been more buggy in my experience, especially with tiling WMs.
The one thing VirtualBox can do that VMware can't, though, is perform low-level operations on crApple devices: http://ranguvar.wordpress.com/2009/11/2 … irtualbox/
So, I keep it around to help out my friends who buy into those sorts of things.
QEMU is nice and KISS, good for testing alternative OSes like Plan 9 and other *nixes, just suffers from horrendous disk speed.

  • Which one of these 12volt/car charger for MacBook Pro would you choose..???

    Hi everyone.
I am looking for a suitable 12volt/car charger, so i can charge my brand new MacBook Pro directly from our caravan batteries via a car/12 volt socket. I dont want to use a inverter, as it draws unnecessary power from the vans batteries.
I am being cautious as I don't want to use a product that is not 100% compatible here in Australia and might void the warranty in any way.
I can not find anything suitable manufactured by Apple but I have found many 3rd party alternatives, ranging from approx $50 up to a couple of hundred.
Has anyone had any experience with any of these products.

Hi Carl, Thank you for your help. I am still none the wiser which one to pick. You say they are not equivalent, but don't they all do the same job. I never was any good at joining the dots, my spelling is shocking and I really wouldn't know a technical error even if it was starring me in the face.

  • HELP WANTED: I wanna buy an iPad or Android Tablet, but IDK which one to buy...

So I am expecting my tax refund in a week or 2 & I wanna buy an Android Tablet, but I am kinda computer/tablet stupid & I have no clue which one to pick...  Specific things I want in an Android Tablet include the following:  Android 2.3 or newer, touch screen, Micro SD card slot & good battery life are all my must haves!!!  Additionally, if possible, I would prefer a White Android Tablet over a Black Android Tablet!!!  I am a T-Mobile employee, I work @ their customer service center/inbound call center in Portland, Oregon.  My expertise is cell phone activations, new customer activations/sales/upgrades, tech support & billing.  I am very unknowledgeable when it comes to the iPad & Android Tablets.  If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!!!  So far I've narrowed down my tablet selection to the Sony Tablet S, Asus Transformer Prime, iPad 2 & Asus Slider...  Suggestions???  A little insight help please!!!  Thanks so much:-)

Keyboard is not hugely important, however it would be nice, I can type very well on a tablet, so keyboard is not a must...  Micro SD card & Android 2.3 or higher is an absolutle must!!!  Cameras of at least 5MP would be nice as well.  I've done a little research since I posted this & iPad 2 is officially off my list.  Asus Slider, Sony Tablet S & Asus Transformer Prime are what I'm looking at as of now.  As far as screen goes, I want a larger screen if possible.  Flash websites I also want access to.  When it comes to sound, I listen to alot of music, I am in my 20's so I'm kinda a partier & I like loud music, so something with a high level of audio & vidoe sound would be great!!!  I personally own an Android cell phone, the HTC Sensation with T-Mobile, I have had Android cell phones since the very first day the HTC G1 phone came out, the HTC G1 was the very first Android phone ever put out by any cell phone carrier.  I absolutely do love Android so very much!!!  Based off of all of this, what do you recommend or suggest???

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm partial to Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 - Although it is getting a bit dated at this point.  It's very well built, and is one of the thinnest and lightest of the Honeycomb tablets.  It does not have a MicroSD slot, but there's a USB host adapter available for $20 - I just copy media from a thumb drive using that when I need to.
The Toshiba Thrive is way too thick and heavy.
The Asus Transformer Prime seems to have a lot of quality control issues, in addition to availability issues.  I think that Asus screwed up when they gave it a metal body - it has had a severe negative impact on wifi and GPS performance.  If you want a quad-core Tegra3-based tablet - wait for someone else to release one.
Nowadays you actually have quite a few choices - 10.1" tablets were the standard for Android tablets, but some people are willing to sacrifice usability a little in order for the improved portability of a 7" tablet, or Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8.9, which is in between the 7" and 10.1" tablets in size.

  • Garbage Collector - which one?

How can I tell which Garbage collector is being invoked?
I'd like proof that serial or parallel is indeed running.

Which version of the platform are you running?
If you run with the -XX:+PrintGCDetails flag, when a collection happens it will print a line like [GC [PSYoungGen: 184K->128K(10752K)] 184K->128K(35328K), 0.0145377 secs] where the "PSYoungGen" indicates that you are using the parallel young generation scavenger. If it instead says [GC [DefNew: 1791K->192K(1984K), 0.0146794 secs] 1791K->1706K(6080K), 0.0148851 secs] then "DefNew" says you are using the default serial young generation collector. Other variations are possible depending on which collector you are running. But those are the two you asked about.
This, and much more, is described in http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot/gc5.0/gc_tuning_5.html or http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/hotspot/gc/gc_tuning_6.html depending on what version of the JDK you are running. There's also http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/hotspot/gc/memorymanagement_whitepaper.pdf for background reading. (Hey, we write these things, we might as well encourage people to read them.)

Mountain Lion is the current version of the latest OS, with Mavericks coming this fall.
However, I would suggest that you simply upgrade to Snow Leopard -> http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard. It's a very good, very fast OS and, best of all, it can still run those PPC apps that you may be using.

  • Can we explicitly stop the garbage Collector(which is running in background

    Hi all,
we can clean up some memmory using System.gc() or freeMemory(). But my query is that we have to stop the gc which is running at the background in the JVM in java.
I would request u all, to help me out in solving my query.
    Thanks & Regards,

Calling System.gc() from the code is not good development practice. You shouldn't have to worry about the GC.
Are you experiencing problems? Which ones?

So what?  The second-hand shop you bought it from didn't follow the right procedures.  You also didn't follow the right procedures to make sure that iPhone was not in Activation Lock.  It's like buying a car for cash but not getting the title signed over to you.  It's not your car if you don' have the title.  And that's not legally your iPhone if the previous owner's Apple ID is still registered to the device for Find My iPhone/Activation Lock.
Only a proof of purchase from the ORIGINAL retail store would do any good at all.  Return the device to where you bought it and demand your money back.  If they refuse, either get a lawyer and/or turn in the device to local police.  If you're in possession of stolen property, then the cops won't care about where you got it from.
