CMC in Business Object Edge 3.1

Hi All,
Im new in BO, i have downloaded trial version of BO EDGE 3.1.
My issue is I can access CMC trough web browser, "404 page not found" http://name xx:6405/CmcApp
Do i have to install TOMCAT in order to work this?
Regards

Nicola,
By default Tomcat is listening to port 8080 on your BO server. Try http://servername:8080 to verify if Tomcat is running.
You can also verify Tomcat status by running the Central Configuration Manager on your BO server.
Default URL for CMC is http://servername:8080/CmcApp/logon.faces. Note that CmcApp is case sensitive.

  • Going from Crystal XI to Crystal 2008 (Business Objects Edge).

Hi. I currently use Crystal XI use BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 to schedule and run my (our) reports.
I rang the customer support line and they said my questions were best tried out here in the forums.
I currently have five licences for Crystal XI.
I am looking at looking at going over to Crystal 2008, which comes in the Business Objects Edge, standard package.
I had a few questions about doing this and I was hoping the community will be able to assist with.
    1. If I go ahead with Crystal 2008 will it need to totally replace my Crystal XI set up? For example could I have some of my staff using XI, and other staff members using 2008, but be able to schedule (and save) the reports centrally from my existing Business Objects Enterprise server?
    2. Or would it be simpler to roll out Crystal 2008, via the Business Objects Edge standard package, and migrate the reports from XI to 2008, and in doing so totally replace the use of Crystal XI altogether?
    - Are there compatibility issues with migrating reports designed in XI into 2008?
    - If so was the quickest solution to rebuild existing reports in 2008?
    - Is it simple to do? (say as simple as re-opening the XI reports in 2008 and clicking save?
I appreciate any comments in advance.
    Hab.

The 2nd option is the one officially supported by SAP.
Regarding the XI reports stored in the XI R2 repsoitory:
You should just install BO Edge 3.1 on a new server and migrate your XI R2 repository contents into the new installation. YOu can use the ImportWIzard for this.
    Regarding local XI reports:
Local XI reports can be migrated by opening them using the CR Designer 2008 and just saving them back to the local filesystem.
BTW if you run into problems with a report which was migrate it as part of the XI R2 repository you can also try to open it from the Edge 3.1 repository using the CR 2008 Designer and save it back again.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - saving to Business Objects Edge

    Post Author: GWilks
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Hi,
When trying to Open or Save a report in Crystal Reports 2008 to the Business Objects Edge server, the following message is received:
Access denied. You cannot log on to an older version of the CMS.
Does anyone know when or if these two versions will be updated to support each other?
    Thanks,
    Garry

    Hi Jeffrey,
The problem when ever you see that error is due to the versions mismatch. The is due to a call into one the updated or older versions of the dll that doesn't exist where it is expected.
They MUST be the same version number.
Options are to bring BOE up to SP3 and FP 3.1 also or roll back CR to SP 2 and Fix Pack 2.7.
    Thank you

  • Business Objects Edge SP2

    Hello,
Does anyone have any updated information as to when SP2 will be released for Edge?
I have an issue with version 3.1 regarding a reverse pivot not giving correct results, which I think is addressed in this fix:
    ADAPT01316434
Reverse Pivot transforms produced incorrect result when a Table Comparison transform appears in the downstream in the same data flow.
For info - a workaround to this problem is to include a temporary table connected directly to the reverse pivot, as well as the rest of your flow. Not ideal, but it does then function correctly.
    Thanks,
    Rhodri

I installed the business object edge series and business object edge integration. The guide of edge integration tells to confirm if the file sap_desktop.war exists, and this file WASN'T created. Does anyone knows why??

  • Installing Fix Pack for Business Objects EDGE XI R3

    Hi,
Has anyone had any experience installing the Business Objects EDGE XI R3 fixpack?
I'm curious as to how to install it and what changes it will make.  I tried quickly searching the SAP support site and did not find much.
I want to find out as much as possible before installing this in a LIVE system.
We are using RHEL with tomcat and mysql for our system.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

    Hi,
you can find the "fixed issues" and "whats new" documents at the download of the FP. Just click the "Info" link and you will be pointed to the Documents.
You only need to install a FP if this solves an actual Bug you are facing with.
The only installation Problem i often face is the deployment of the Web Applications of the Fix Pack. Somethimes i have to re- deploy all the war Files using wdeploy.
So if you have a custom Web Application deployed on  your BOE Tomcat or customized the BOE Application make a Backup before.

  • SAP Business Objects Edge 3.0

    Hi Gurus,
I was downloaded the SAP Business objects Edge 3.0 Trial version from SAP. I am using SAP 4.7 with oracle 9.2 DB... I want to integrate Edge 3.0 with our SAP for reporting purpose.. Please explain how can i configure this and what are the other softwares are required for this. I go throw the guides but i am not getting clear idea.
Now i just installed the business objects enterprise in one system web console are login correctly.
But i don't know how to connect my SAP DB with this.
    Please help me.
    Regards
    Mahendran

    Hi,
you still need the mentioned software packages even if you do not have an SAP BI system. You can  also configure your SAP R/3 system to do the BO authentication. The main difference is that you have to use crystal reports in order to access the data in your SAP system. You cannot report using Web Intelligence (universes) on an SAP R/3 data source.
So you have to do the following:
    1) Install the SAP BusinessObjects Edge 3.0 software on host A
    2) Install the Crystal Reports Designer 2008 V0 on host B (HostA and hostB can also be the same computer)
    3) Install the Java Connector 2.1.8 on host A ([http://service.sap.com\connectors]). You will find more information on this in the installation guide of the integration Kit for SAP solutions.
    3) Install the BOBJ integration Kit for SAP solutions XI 3.0 on host A (Choose the server option in the installation). Please follow the instructions in the installation guide on how to do this.
    4) If hostA and hostB are two different machines then please install also the BOBJ integration Kit for SAP solutions XI 3.0 on host B (Choose the desktop option in the installation)
    5) Import the transports delivered in the integration KIT for SAP solutions in your SAP R/3 system (Check the installation guide for more information on these steps)
    6) Configure the SAP authentication in your BOBJ Edge system (necessary if you want to logon with your SAP credentials in BOBJ)
This way you should be able to create reports based on  your SAP R/3 data.

  • Business Objects Edge XI R2 - Missing Report Conversion Tool

We have BO Edge XI R2 (SP5) installed, and want to migrate a load of reports from a BO5.4 repository. We have used the Import Wizard to bring objects across, but according to the manual we need to use the Report Conversion Tool to convert them to WEBI report format. The manual seems to say that the Report Conversion Tool should be an option on the Start menu, but it just doesn't appear for me. I have uninstalled the client software from my machine and re-installed it, and there is no option to select to install it. Does anyone know how I can get access to the tool ?

    Hello Bob
There are three products you actually mention in your post: Crystal Reports, Crystal Reports Server (Business Objects XI R2 server) and Business Objects Enterprise. Crystal Reports and Crystal Reports Server use the same runtime which is available from here:
    [CR XI R2 (SP6) MSM for .NET|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100000634042010E/crxir2sp6_net_mm.zip]
    [CR XI R2 (SP6) MSI for .NET|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100000633302010E/crxir2sp6_net_si.zip]
Business Objects Enterprise SDK was always only available from the BOE Install CD and updates were posted to the SAP Market Place (SMP). This is a gated site and login info should have been provided to you on purchase of BOE. I am unable to find the runtime on SMP (it was more than likely removed when support for XI R2 products terminated last year), but I'm sure your account manager should be able to help you out.

  • Problem connecting SAP IS-U (ECC 6.0) with Business Objects Edge 3.1

    Dear all,
I'm trying to connect to a SAP ECC 6.0 System (SAP IS-U) with Business Objects 3.1 (for example with Crystal Reports). I have installed the SAP RFC SDK on the ECC server and have imported these transport files:
    Open SQL reporting objects
    InfoSet reporting objects
    Row Level Security Tool
    Security functions
    Cluster Definition Editor
But CR keeps returning this error "You do not have the necessary rights to design reports against the SAP System". I've read a few threads about that problem here. I couldn't find a specific "ABAP transport" - did I miss to import anything else?
Is there any way to check whether the transport files work as they are supposed to? Like the MDX parser connection test for SAP Business Warehouse.
    Any other suggestions?
    thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I read about these authorization tasks in some other thread, but didn't know what to do.
But now I found the auth. object in the transaction SU21.
Since I cannot edit SAP_ALL I created another profile in transaction PFCG (just in case someone else is still messing with that problem) and added all activities of ZSEGREPORT ans S_RFC.
After that I added the profile to the users in question.
Now everything works like a charm.
    Thanks alot!

  • Business Objects Edge and Crystal reports integration.

I'm new to the SAP BO application and I would like to know how to allow users to create and publish Crystal Reports via the Business Objects applicaiton.  Currently I have published some reports and the users are able to View then via the InfoViewer Web interface. Now I have a request to allow the users to create their own Crystal reports and publish them. The problem is that the users are not part of my companies network but we have a VPN connection that they user to login to the InfoViewer Web front end to view the reports I have published.

    Hi Ed,
what for a Database do you mean ? The Repository Database or the Database with your productive Data for Designing the Reports?
    1.
When they enter their username and password in InfoView the Application Server (Tomcat) does it.
    2.
Via their ODBC connection. Or when you use Oracle via the native client.

  • Business Objects Edge 3.1 Linux Installation

    Hi,

    Hi,
If you have copied the installation files locally, then make sure ALL the files are copied.  From the error it looks "DISK_1_1" file is missing from the directory.

  • Business Objects Edge 3.1 - Dynamic Parameters prompting for password

    Hi,
I installed BO Edge 3.1 and Crystal Reports 2008.
Designed report which is using dynamic parameter. Then I deployed this report to BO Edge. In CMC I configured database parameters, so user doesnt have to input it everytime when viewing or refreshing report.
The problem is that when there is dynamic parameter in CMC or InfoView it is asking for database credentials anyway.
I found out on the couple forums that it is cause by dynamic parameter. And I found also solution using Business View Manager.
The problem is that BO Edge 3.1 doesnt have in the Client Aplications Business View Manager.
    So my questions are :
    1. Is there possibility to get Business View Manager for BO Edge?
    2. Are there any other possibilities how to specify database credentials also for dynamic parameters so user doesnt have to do that anymore?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Query Builder in Business Object Edge 3.1

    Greeting,
When I was using Crystal Vision Server 11.5, I can use the Query Builder to get metadata for objects stored in the repository. Now we moved to BO XI Edge 3.1 with WACS. I click on the click for Query Build and the system said the link is broken. I read SAP note "1206301 - How to access the query builder in XI 3.x ", but it is only for Java / Apache server.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hi Leo,
It is my understanding that Query Builder, QAAWS and Live Office are Java based, and therefore only work with Tomcat and not WACS. Unless something has changed, you will have to uninstall and reinstall BO with Tomcat in order to use those tools.
    Thanks
