Cmd+right shortcut has stopped working

Ever since updating to Snow Leopard from Leopard, the Cmd+right arrow built-in shortcut to go to the end of a line of text has stopped working. This used to work in most applications, now it doesn't work at all.
I don't see anything in System Prefs > Keyboard > Shortcuts that is overriding it, and I haven't installed any applications different from when I was on Leopard. Cmd+left arrow shortcut is still working too, which makes this even weirder.
Any suggestions as to where I would start to troubleshoot this?

I'd hazard the guess at this moment that it isn't hardware related, but don't discount that until you test with a USB keyboard perhaps.
I hate to say it, but there seem to be a number of things like this lately with reports of the issue mysteriously clearing itself shortly thereafter. I'm not trying to bucket shop a load of pixie dust, so please don't make any plans around this particular summation

  • CMD Space and CMD {RIGHT}/{LEFT} have stopped working as config- any ideas?

I have CMD Space set to open Spotlight - set in Preferences/Keyboard&Mouse/Keyboard Shortcuts
Used to work but stopped over the last couple of days.
Also, I have set the Spaces to switch on a CMD {Right} or {Left} cursor. this has stopped too.
Have confirmed both are set in preferences.
    Have done a reboot.
    Keys still not working.
Any suggestions. Failing that I'll just live with it until I put SL on it.

Here was my solution to this. My left click button on both the trackpad and touch pad suddenly stopped working on me. After putting up with this for a few weeks I decided to investigate. I found if I disabled the touch pad the trackpad left click would start to work again. So I investigated by carefully popping off the left click button for touchpad. Everything looked normal, so I investigated a little father buy removing the small round blueish rubber piece in the middle of the button. Once I did this I realized it quite dirty, with a soft cloth and a toothpick I cleaned both the contacts on the PC and the the black spot on the rubber piece, putting everything back together and my left click worked once again.
The cause of my problem was just a build up of dirt under the rubber contact which caused the button to short out and disable itself.
I didn't have to reinstall any software or drivers.

  • Command W has stopped working

I've never seen this behaviour before:
The command W "close" shortcut has stopped working. The keyboard is fine, w is fine, command is fine, and e.g. command-option w works, but command w does a "paste". I've reset the keyboard shortcuts to defaults, all to no avail. I have no idea what I did to cause this, but I would appreciate any hint of how to undo it!
    Thanks a lot

Thanks--that didn't work. However, by throwing away preferences etc for longer than I care to, I have tracked it down to something to do with the You Control application. But why beats me. Thanks to everyone for looking.

  • "cmd right" shortcut not in Lion

So, after installing Lion on my laptop, the "cmd + left" and the "cmd + right" shortcuts are not working. Anyone have any ideas as to why?

    Ah.
CMD-right arrow and CMD-left arrow are working for me (in Mail).  So is OPTION-arrow to move one word at a time.
What application are you having problems with this in?

  • Can't get itunes.  I get the following message when I click on either the shortcut or the program.  It says ITunes has stopped working and I can either check on line for a solution and close the program or just close the program.

When I click on the itunes shortcut or the program  I get the following message:
ITunes has stopped working.  My two options are:  Windows can check on line for a solution to the problem or close the program.
It seems that my entire library is not there.  If I sync my ipod will it add it back into my library on the computer?
I've even tried installing again and nothing works.  Tried the "repair" and it says that ITunes is loaded but I stil get the above error when I try to open the program.

Does iTunes not see the phone?
If not, make sure you're running the current version of iTunes.
If you are running the current version and it still doesn't recognize it, see this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
As for iPhoto, you will have to purchase a newer version. It's not a free upgrade. Or, you can use Image Capture, which is built into OS X, to import the photos.

  • Itunes Has Stopped Working, Program closes

I have recently just updated my Itunes and it has stopped working. This happened in a previous updated version, but after a reinstall i was able to get it to work. This time it did not work, and I can't seem to find a way to get the program to work now.
    The error looks like this...
I open itunes from shortcut on desktop or exe file from program file
I see itunes is opened up, i can see my playlists/songs everything
Before i get a chance to do anything windows pops up with a window and says
"Itunes has stopped working...windows is checking for a solution to the problem...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I can only click on the "close program" button.
I have tried a reinstall twice now, and am lost for ideas on how to fix this. I'm not amazing at troubleshooting problems, so I've posted the error that shows up in my event log. Any help would be appreciated so i can continue to use the itunes store, and update my iphone.

Okay, taken at face value this is suggesting there's a problem with your QuickTime (which makes sense in context, because iTunes requires a properly functioning QuickTime in order to run).
So, let's first try swapping out your existing QuickTime.
Head into your "Uninstall a program" control panel. Uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we'll clear away any leftover QuickTime program files or folders.
    Restart your computer.
After the computer restarts, open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your programs are installed on.
    Open the Program Files folder.
Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on. Open the Windows folder. Open the System32 folder.
Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
Restart the PC and download and save a copy of the QuickTime standalone installer to your hard drive (get the one that doesn't mention iTunes):
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Install QuickTime by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file.
Restart again, and try launching iTunes again. Does it launch without the error this time?

  • Vista STILL getting "Export Controller has stopped working" problem

Everyone knows about the "Export Controller has stopped working" problem. The error message displays, then half a minute later, you get a "Quicktime has stopped working" error message. I have Googled it numerous times and I have never found anything more than what I did the first time. As far as I'm aware there are still no fixes for this problem. I believe there has been about three Quicktime updates since the first release of Quicktime 7, when this problem arose, and none have made any difference. Reinstalling and uninstalling + redownloading doesn't work, and I am not prepared to downgrade to an older version of iTunes, or buy a Mac. If anyone has any possible fix for this, please post here. I wish Apple would do something about this.

A permissions glitch I think, Marz, masquerading as the Export Controller thing we saw a reasonable amount of a few versions ago. (I just checked the wife's 64-bit Vista lappie, and the QuickTime Player Start menu shortcut should have a run as administrator in the right-click menus ... whether that's part of your permissions trouble or a seperate business isn't clear, I'm afraid.)
The bulk of those "Export Controller" errors got fixed by an update to Apple Application Support, but I was involved in an epically long-running thread back then where we found that for a rare subset of them: (a) Run as administrator would launch the QuickTime Player without the message, and (b) in other admin user accounts on the same PC, the QuickTime Player could be launched normally without the message.
Since then I've seen a few other similar user-account-specific issues (with different error messages) where the same run-as-administrator trick gets you past the troubles. The precise error message seems to depend on which file/folder/key your user account loses a permission on.
Finding the dodgy permission can be a pain ... I don't have a reliable technique for that. But one workaround you might want to try is using the QuickTimePlayer.exe compatibility tab to set the Player to always run as administrator. (Unfortunately, it's usually a bit more reliable a workaround on 7 than it is on Vista.)
Quit the QuickTime Player if you have it open. Track down the QuickTimePlayer.exe file again, right-click and select "Properties". In the Compatibility tab, select "Run as administrator" and click OK.
Try launching the Player again ... does it launch without the Export Controller error? Or do you instead get one of the error messages described in the following document?

  • Elements 10 Organizer  Has Stopped Working.

I recently purchase Adobe Elements & Premier 10 programs and both have been working well for about 2 weeks.  Now, when I opene Organizer, the program loads and appears but immediately it stops working with the message: "Elements 10 organizer has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it but no change.  The Editor in Elements 10 starts and works fine.  I am running Windows Vista.  Nearly each day I get a Windows update notice and install it.  I also frequently defrag my hard drive.  I am having no other issues with my computer.
I have tried a few of the suggestions from others on this forum but nothing helps.  I have also tried the Restore feature on Windows but it never Restores for me.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Larry

See if you can get to the preferences from Editor by clicking:
    Edit à Preferences à Organize & Share
Then select Media Analysis and turn everything off by un-checking all the boxes.
Also try making a direct shortcut for the Organizer and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop bypassing the welcome screen.
On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New à Shortcut
Then click the browse button and navigate to:
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
Then click Next; then click Finish
N.B. on 64 bit systems navigate to Program Files (x86)

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working

I recently purchased and installed Adobe CS4 Design Premium for my new sony vaio LV. Right away I noticed that Photoshop and Bridge do not have the proper logos in the application list. Once I opened Photoshop (64 bit) It seemed to work fine. I opened and image file, but when I tried to add and edit text, the program became inactive and Windows popped up to say that the program had stopped working. Windows then checks for a solution to the problem, determines nothing and does not present an error report. I can't seem to keep the program open long enough to perform even one task. I saved/attached 2 screen shots in word.

Could a bad install explain why mine has "stopped working"? I've had to install it twice because I keep getting that message, and I've had to re-install it twice because of having to do a couple system recoveries. I'm tired of calling Adobe to tell them that I need to re-register my software! I don't understand why I keep getting that message.
And, fwiw, if I first open the non-64bit version, then close it, the 64bit version will open without that message. What gives? I've also run the cleaner, and that helped for a little while, but started getting the error again.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.
