Cmd tab, cmd` and remapping keyboard

On a Macbook US keyboard I can cmd+tab through open apps and then reverse the direction I'm moving through the apps by using cmd` instead.
On it's own cmd` cycles through the windows in the frontmost application.
I now have a macbook pro with a British keyboard. I have used the keyboard controls in System preferences to remap the keys so that cmd§ now cycles through the windows in the frontmost application. (§ is in the spot on the keyboard that ` is on US keyboards).
I now want to know if there is a way to make cmd§ reverse the direction I'm moving through the apps when using cmd+tab instead of cmd` ?
Thanks for any help.

  • Vivo Tab RT and no keyboard

A couple of days ago Asus announce that the Vivo Tab RT would be $599 with the keyboard dock. I picked up my Vivo and received no dock with it. Does anyone know what the deal is?

And the price at dropped for the tablet at Microcenter and TigerDirect with no BB price match. I had a prime and loved the keyboard option so I hope this is rectified.
Maybe that's why there were so few Vivo Tab RTs sent to BB. The store I got mine stated that there were only 2. The keyboard is also AWOL online mostly.

  • Remap CMD on Mac keyboard to CTRL on Windows PC?

I have a slew of Macs – unfortunately one of my clients is a PC manufacturer and I tend to bring that PC with me on site. However, I want to use an external Mac keyboard and remap its CMD key to the windows CTRL key.
I've tried Autohotkeys and others, but the CMD key seems to be invisible to the system. Any recommendations?

The few systems I've tried, see the Command Key as a "Windows" Key.  Of course, I'm using Mac hardware on a Mac, not a Mac Keyboard on a PC hardware (I don't happen to have that stuff cluttering my desk).

  • Cmd and option switched after todays update

Dont know if this is placed right but I found it alittle hard to navigate in this forum.
After todays update (Quicktime and security update), cmd and option (win and alt on my keyboard) has changed.
I must press option+m for spotlight for example.
They keyboard is Logitech UltraX Flat.
Has anyone heard of this before? And more important, does anyone know if I can change it back somehow? Maybe there is some cool settings or app that can do it

Well then, you'll have to deal with reconfiguring any passwords, and finding registration codes for those software that you need if you were to recover from backup. Your other option is to find a macro utility that reverses those key functions on http://www.macupdate.com/ or http://www.versiontracker.com/ Just remember you have that turned off before you next update.
I would mention to Logitech that their keyboard has this problem with the update you tried, and see if they can suggest a solution.

Select the Zoom Tool in the tool box and see if Scrubby Zoom is unchecked or greyed out in the tool options bar.

  • Cmd and   has changed what it does

For quite a while now I've used Cmd and +/= and Cmd and - to increase and decrease the font size of a text window.  This week it has changed and I'm puzzled.  When I hold Cmd and press the =/+ keyThe bottom inch (on my iMac 27") of my display shifts up and an new row of Icons appear.  The Dock is now above this new row and the Dock works fine.  The new row has icons labeled in order: Widgets, Address Book, Calculator, Devonthink jot, Dictionary, ESPN, Flight Tracker, iCal, Movies, Ski Report, Stickies, Stocks, Tile Game, Translation, Unit Converter, Weather, Web Clip, and World Clock.  Also a bunch of (8) circles (white with black centers with a white X in the center - like a close icon) appear randomly around my display.
The new bar of Icons look to be possibly convenient but where did they come from?
By experimenting, I found that if I hold Cmd and Shift then press the =/+ key, I get the larger font.  Cmd with the - key still reduces the font.
    Here is what I see:

More Information.  I was struck by how the list of things I made in the first note above, resembled Widgets in the Dashboard.  I have the Dashboard configured to be one of the spaces to make it easy to get to.  I went to look at it.  In the lower left corner of the Dashboard is a circled Plus sign.  If I click that, I get the same bar of icons across the bottom of the screen.
On a regular space the icons didn't do anything when I clicked them.  On the Dashboard they bring up the named widget.
When the bar appeared on a regular space, the menu was shifted off the top of the screen.
Weirdest of all, now that I've worked with the widgets in the Dashboard, Cmd and +/= no longer brings up the widget icon bar but, as before, now enlarges the font of the current text window or picture or movie.
Very weird.  This has now moved from being a request for help to one for possibly clarification of something pretty confusing.

  • Cmd-+ and cmd-x not working

    Hi,
I can't get ANY commands working that consist of a + or - sign.
I have tried to reassign cmd-+ and cmd-- to zoom in and out but the commands doesn't work in the editor.
When going into the command preferences I can clearly see that cmd-+ and cmd-- gets correctly detected when pressing them.
Any advice would be kindly appreciated.

  • Hold cmd and move object around without holding the mouse over them

The new update has disabled the cmd moving of layers. Before when i selected a layer and than held the cmd key i could move the objekt without clicking and holdind the mouse on it, hold cmd and click and hold the mouse anywhere on the screen than move it around, this was cool because the mouse was not in the way. Now i can move objekts only by holding the mouse on them. When i try it now i get to autoselect layer groups... who needs that ... how can i get back to the old method?

I have the same problem i hope they do something about it soon.

  • Provisionusers.cmd and Migrate users/groups from Planningweb

    Hi
Is the functionality of Provisionusers.cmd and migrateusers/groups from planning web similar?
I feel Provsionsuers.cmd is an alternative way to migrateusers/groups from planning web.
Please correct me if i am wrong.
    Thanks and regards
    krishnatilak

    Hi,
The provisionusers utility basically syncs planning and essbase with the provisioning of users/groups in shared services.
If you run the utility and a user exists in shared services but has not been created in the planning database the user will be added.
If the user does not exist in the essbase security file then they are added.
If it is a user that exists and has security settings on members in planning then these filters are pushed down to essbase.
It should also remove users/groups from planning if they have been deprovisioned in shared services.
    Cheers

  • [8.1 pro update1] Windows KEEPS changing and reinstalling keyboard layouts regardsless of IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout

Windows 8.1 is driving me nuts beyond believe once again. I have 8.1 Pro update 1 English, installed from the VLK iso from our Volume License / SPLA account. As we are a Dutch company, the Location is set to The Netherlands, as well as the date/time format.
Therefore in my keyboard settings the language is Dutch (NL) but I set my keyboard layout to US, as below:
As you can see there are no other languages our installed. This worked for years with Windows 7 and before with XP. Windows 8.1 however KEEPS changing my keyboard layout to plain Dutch making my keyboard unusable. The language bar in the systemtray, or whatever
it's called in this OS, shows THREE layouts, which are actually 'selectable' and work as if they were installed. However, they are not 'really' installed, as per the screenshots above.
This is driving me completely mad. Why on earth is Windows making descisions for me which I should be making myself? In addition, in my oppinion Windows should NEVER change somthing as trivial as a keyboard layout by itself. People don't change switch keyboard
even when logging on to a remote system that has a different layout configured. Whoever came up with this 'automatic switching per application' idea once again had no clue of real-life usage at all.
I've added those two languages I do NOT want to my keyboard layouts and removed them. Sure they are gone then, and as only language NLD with layout US is left, the language bar in systray is gone as well. After a few days all three are back, and my keyboard
    is producing wrong characters again.
I've tried with regvalue HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout\IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout set to 1, to no avail at all. It just keeps changing. This should help to prevent my keyboard when changing when I RDP to one of my servers.
The advanced settings in Language don't help either:
'let me set a different input language for each app window' is unticked.
Override for default keyboard is now set to Dutch - US, like I want it. Doesn't help either.
I cannot reproduce it on demand, settings do NOT change when connecting to my RDP server(s). They do NOT change when I open any of my used programs, being IE, Chrome, CMD.exe, notepad and a few others. It shouldn't either as I disabled the 'keep settings
    per application'.
I have changed the keyboard shortcut from alt-shift or whatever it was to 'none'.
How to prevent Windows 8.1 completely from changing the keyboard layout I use? Is there any way to check WHY or WHAT actually changes my keyboard?

This might be really late to this post but I've been having this issue while playing games, particularly those which are complex enough to require Control, Alt, Shift. At first like some people here suggested
Windows Key + Space was the cause, but even after removing all alternate layouts (for reference, I want the UK layout, but it was switching to the US Layout) it was persisting.
This post pointed me in the right direction, go into your Language Options
    > Change Override (Advanced). At this stage I've noticed there is the Switching input methods section, look for
Change language bar hot keys and here I fount Alt + Shift
was being used for switching Between input languages - a key combo I'd probably hit quite often just purely by accident. You can change the key sequence to no binds.
I haven't fully tested it, but it appears to be working for now - and I hope its an extra option for people to look at if they're running into this issue.

  • How do I use Panorama / Tab Groups with the keyboard?

Yes I know that CTRL-SHIFT-E opens the panorama window, and then I can use the mouse to organize my tabs into groups.
But how do I do this with the keyboard?
I've [http://lifehacker.com/#!5719596/switch-between-tab-groups-in-firefox-with-a-keyboard-shortcut read] [http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1705714 that] Ctrl-`should move me through tab groups. That doesn't work for me on my Danish keyboard. (Where the ' and ` chars are weird. But is how they are on a valid standard Danish keyboard) I've tried changing the keyboard to USA and then moving through tab groups works fine.
In short: Pretend I don't have a mouse. How do I use Panorama / Tab Groups?

Sorry. These are both known bugs:
[https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=587010 Bug 587010] - Add keyboard UI for manipulated groups and tabs in Tab Candy
    and
[https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=626594 Bug 626594] - shortcut for switching tab groups is badly accessible on many non-US keyboard layouts

  • To switch off the monitor and the keyboard lights?

    Hello,
Is it possible to switch off the monitor and the keyboard lights of a MacBook Air while I'm using it at home with an external monitor and keyboard?
    Many thanks in advance!
    manoka

You can turn off the keyboard lights by unchecking System Preferences > Keyboard > keyboard tab > Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light.   Then use F5 to lower the keyboard to off.
The Monitor can't be switched off but can be reduced to almost off using the F1 key.

  • Changing tab focus with the keyboard

I've read about changing the tab focus from one page to another programmatically; however, I would like to have shortcut keys to change tabs (like many programs that use CTRL+Tab to change windows within the program).
I could use an event structure to capture keyboard button presses and then change the value of the tab control, but is there a more straightforward approach?
    Thanks!
    mlloyd

You can set all other controls not to be tabbed through and the tab control to have its pages tabbed through. That way, when you use tab, only the tab control's pages will be on the tabbing list. This, however, is probably less straightforward.
I'm not sure what's the problem with the method you outlined. In most cases, if you want something to happen, you will have to code it. This appeares to be one of those cases. You can make a subVI to do the tabbing for you, if you don't want to have to code all of it in your VI. Pass the reference of the tab control into the VI after you detect the event and use that to decide whether to increase or decrease the tab value. Be sure to cycle the number back to the first page when it reaches the end.
Try to take over the world!

  • Non-stop scrolling in tab bar and drop-down menus

Whenever I put my cursor over the tab bar, it scrolls uncontrollably to the end (scrolling backwards doesn't do anything). I've tried to use the keyboard to navigate, but whenever I press Control, the page zooms out rapidly and it's really tedious to have to keep resetting the zoom.
(This isn't just happening in Firefox - anywhere there's a dropdown menu, if I hover over it or select it it scrolls continuously too.)
But, pages don't scroll down constantly. It's only the tab bar and dropdown menus.
And I've just now discovered that I can't use the Shift key anywhere in Firefox because apparently it makes me go back. I have a feeling that Shift+scrolldown is a shortcut to go back. (I had to write this post in Notepad and copy and paste it in.)
I have one of those cheap Jenkins wireless mice. I've taken the battery out to try and reset it, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. I've reset the computer.
It's been doing this since yesterday. I don't want to uninstall Firefox because I don't want to lose all my tabs (in the middle of a major essay and I need to try and keep everything).
EDIT: I tried to use Chrome, and on Chrome pages scroll uncontrollably. This is a real pain because I don't seem to have drivers for my wired mouse anymore and it's really hard to install drivers without a mouse!
EDIT: I hard-reset the PC out of frustration and it seems to have stopped. But I'd like to know how else I could fix this if it happened again.

Sounds that this is an issue with your mouse or the mouse driver software.
Did you try another mouse or try a basic mouse driver?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
