Re: What is a good Toshiba Satellite M35 CMOS battery Voltage range?
    Part Number: P71035016113
I pulled this part out of my Toshiba and its reading 2.75 Volts.
    Is that the proper voltage?
If not, is it in an acceptable range to keep and not have to replace?

  • New Bios for K7T266 Pro2-RU

    Hi All,
Are there any new bios' for the K7T266 PRO2-RU (i.e., above 3.7), that will support the AMD 2200+, 2400+ Processors once the Modification is done?
    Thanks.
    Craig

    Hi,
The K7T266pro2 (MS-6380 V2.0) needs the modification to support all the latest 266FSB (TBred) CPU's because there is a timing change, removing the capicitor solves this and allows you to get the CPU starting.
MSI's official statement is that they don't support this as the board is long out of production.
However, they where nice enough to give us the modification in order to give you the posibility to get it running.
They're plan was to stop releasing BIOS'ses at v3.60 because there was no need to release another.
I convinced them to release 3.70 that has updated CPU-ID code for all 266FSB CPU's, and no again, they still don't support any CPU over the fastest Palomino officialy.
What they did was giving us the posibility to use an outdated board a bit longer, be happy about that.
As for the testing of CPU's on this board, that stopped at BIOS 3.50...
Any given board will fade away at some point in time, thanks to MSI (unofficialy), the K7T266pro2 with the modification can be used a bit longer......
All you need for the right multiplier is leave it at auto....as the correct one is hardcoded on the CPU itself...

  • Questions on Flashing Bios for K7T266-Pro2

    Hi,
I am trying to upgrade bios for my old K7T266-Pro2 and downloaded the file "6380V37"
It includes kind instructions for flashing the bios but still I want to make sure something.
    1. Currently my OS is windows 2000 in NTFS file system. Do I choose the procedure for AMI Bios or Non-FAT file system?
    2. For AMI case, it requires a booting diskette from win98 or win me. Can I use a booting diskette from windows xp? It is hard to find a system with win98 or win me around me.
    3. For Non-FAT file system case, I don't have a startup diskette from win 98 or win me. It says a plain boot diskette is not enough. How can I make the startup diskette from win 98 or win me?
    Any advice will be appreciated!

    You are welcome so far!
This is among other things said in the link I supplied:
"5. Boot the computer using a windows ME or windows 98 startup disk. It must be one of these! A plain boot disk will not be good enough.
If you do not have Windows ME or 98 to create the floppy you can make one on a friend's computer or download a self creating copy from a website such as www.bootdisk.com. "
To be frank, I don't think you should update, as it wont help. I'm not enough of a messerschmitt to know how to get the support for that processor, I'm afraid. But hopefully some who are good at over-clocking will come along to give the right advice. Perhaps there is a trick to fool a pin or two. If you can get your hands on a K7N2 Delta your processor is supported. It should be really cheap by now, but you will probably need a better PSU than what you have now, and the PSU should have a 4 pin 12 volt connection.

  • Which replacement CMOS battery do I buy for my HP G6 Series?

I need to replace my CMOS battery. My laptop is a HP G6. When I search the product number it comes up as a G6-1b60us. The only new CMOS replacement batteries I see listed on eBay are for HP G6-2000. Will that CMOS battery work for my HP?  I see listed ones that are for HP G6-1000, but they are all used. Is that the one I have to buy? Thank you very much.

Hi, Part number is : 449137-001 as shown on page  49 of the second manual on the following link:     http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5082228/model/5128909/manuals/ You can buy from HP or:    http://www.amazon.com/HP-449137-001-Battery-real-time-clock/product-reviews/B002GPKBRO (Actually it is a CR2032 battery). Regards.

  • Equium A210 - CMOS battery replacement possible?

My Toshiba Equium A210-1C4 appears to be having a CMOS battery problem in that it does not keep the BIOS settings.
I have bought a replacement main power battery and a/c adapter to rule out a/c power issues but the POST beaps and CMOS keeps coming up a Checksum error and once in the BIOS and save settings it boots successfully but if the laptop restarts or is switched off it does it all over again. I have also updated the BIOS successfully so it is not the BIOS chip. The only thing I can think of is replacing the CMOS battery - can this be done?
I have read that some are soldered on? Would Toshiba service this laptop to replace the CMOS battery / check for faults - if so, how much would it cost, or can someone else do it as the laptop is out of warranty.
    Any advice please?

    Hi Emases2010,
As far as I know some batteries are fixed/soldered on mainboard and cant replace but I think only a notebook technician can give you a detailed answer.
Normally you can charge the CMOS battery if you leave the AC/DC adaptor connected over night or in best case 24 hours. After this the battery should be fully charged.
    Check this!!!

  • K7T266 pro2 ver 2.0 problems

So a couple weeks ago I updated my bios to the latest version for the board.  It updated fine, no problems and the computer ran fine as well.  One day I decided to upgrade my cpu fan so I went with the Thermaltake Volcano 9 from a small dinky Coolermaster.  The install was smooth and I plug everything in.  I boot up, all the fans are working, the power light comes on, and the harddrive light comes one but for some reason it stays on.  Nothing happens on the computer, its powered but will not boot.  I decided to power down the computer and reset by taking the CMOS battery out for a while and putting it back in and restart.  There I'm allowed to get into bios but after a few seconds it freezes.  !  It's not supposed to freeze!  I put the old fan in and restart.  Same thing, bios freezes.  Sometimes I wouldn't even be able to get to bios, it would just power up and not do anything, like it did before.  So I follow the instructions on AMI Bios recovery and used bios version 6380v36.  The recovery process went well, but nothing changed.  Is there something physically wrong with my board, or bios chip?  Keep in mind I stripped the computer to the bare essentials after I first ran into problems.  If its very likely there is a problem, what is the warranty on my board?  I bought it online almost a year ago and I think the place only had 30 day policy.  So I think I have to go through MSI.
Is the K7t266pro2 prone to problems?  This is my second of this board, my first one I exchanged within the first 30 days because it wouldn't power up at all.  I know MSI is a good brand so I decided to upgrade to the KT3 because of this, but I would like to get this board replaced if I can.
    What should I do?

Okay, my power supply is an Enermax eg365pve 350W and combined 3.3 and 5v is 185W.  I'm running an xp2000 with one stick of memory, harddrive, floppy, and my pny geforce4 ti4600.  After looking around I read that it was recommended to have the combined 3.3 and 5v over 200W.  This didn't make sense to me since I already had my system working with this power supply and more stuff attached.  But maybe for some reason it was underpowered.  I decided to go out and get an Antec SL350 with combined 3.3 and 5v at 230W.  I plug it in....same results :(
    WHAT IS GOING ON?!

  • K7T266 Pro2-A USB Drivers...

    Hi,
I have the K7T266 Pro2-A Motherboard, I am having some problems with my USB deviced, mainly my printer. I will be in the middle of printing a large file (A 710 MB Photo) and the USB will just disconnect between the printer and the computer..
I wanted to see if there were updated USB drivers, but I didn't know which one to install, If any.. Here's what i found:
    NEC USB 2.0 Driver
    Support model  K7T266 Pro2-RU (MS-6380 Ver2.0), 845 Ultra-ARU (MS-6398)
    Description
    Add General ID: VEN_1033&DEV_00E0
    -- Driver version: 2.0.3300.20300.
For K7T266 Pro2, this driver must be used together with BIOS Ver3.3 or after.

    Your System OS   Win98SE/ME(79KB) 2000/XP(7011KB)
    VIA USB2.0 Driver
    Support model  KT3 Ultra2(MS-6380E)
    Description
For VIA based board with VT8235 southbridge chipset
Note: This Driver only for VIA based board with VT8235 southbridge chipset, please DO NOT use on other models.
    Date  2002-9-19
    Your System OS   Win98SE/ME(168KB) 2000/XP(7011KB)
I Don't know if either of those are correct, or not. MSI makes it too confusing having a whole list of different motherboards with the exact same model # (IE: MS-6380) and only using different sub-model numbers.. Its really dumb..
Neither of thease showed up on my Live Update 2..
    Thanks..

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php    you are mose likely looking at the USB2 driver not being installed. Scroll down to the  NEC USB 2.0 Driver   section and read there.  The driver is also there.

  • Replacement CMOS battery for Equium L40

My CMOS battery is dead, can anyone advise where I can buy a replacement from one.
    Thanks
    Adrian

    Hi
Im afraid the RTC battery is soldered to the motherboard. Dont think you could remove it easily.
What you can do is to charge the battery.
In order to charge the RTC battery successfully, the main battery and AC adaptor have to be connected to the notebook. Additionally the notebook has to be powered ON for about 18-20 hours.
By the way: its a NiMH RTC battery supports 3V output voltage and 14mAh capacity

  • K7T266 Pro2 RU: Boot problem, wrong CMOS setting

    Hi All,
I have had the Pro2 RU MB for a year now with very few problems. Over Christmas I was cleaning up my computer and was going to do a format :C and reload windows. When I went to start the computer after cleaning it up (remove all cards, clean up dust) I got 4 red leds on d-led. Tried everything (different memory, reset bios, unplug everything except video, ect) always 4 reds. Bought a duron 1.3 GHz put it in started the computer it start to post, went through fastrack raid screen and then I got "CMOS settings wrong" "press F1 to setup", "F2 load defaults" ...... screen I go F1 into setup make ajustments and everytime I save and I get 4 red leds on reboot. If I go F2 load defaults and continue it will try and boot, my hard drives are in a raid 0 array and it will check floppy, ide 0, cdrom by default so it can't boot. If I reboot at this point it will go 4 red leds. I can't flash the bios which is ver 3.2 because the bios protection is enabled and I can't change any settings. I could use some help this one has my stumped.
I have tried 3 different power supplies, and that is not the problem.
    K7T266 Pro2 RU
    Duron 1.3GHZ, retail box HSF
    256MB Cruical pc2100 ram
    300w AMD approved PSU
    Geforce2 GTS 32MB
2 60GB Quantum HD in raid 0 array
    Win 2k pro
    Cheers Rugger

I have reset the cmos with pc unplugged...yes.
I have read the FAQ at this site, I have used the search feature at this forum I have googled my problem searched a few other sites and I am stuck. I have been building computers and troubleshooting problems for 3 years now. If it was a new board I would RMA it at my wholesaler.
It seems like there is a problem with the cmos chip because it will not accept any changes to the settings. As soon as you save the changes in the cmos the computer reboots and I get 4 red leds in d-led.
    Cheers Rugger

  • Can bad PRAM (CMOS) battery be "guilty" for MBP not recovering from sleep?

I have MBP 4.1 (last with removable battery) and it wont recover from sleep... i tried reseting SMC but no effect (three months ago SMC reset worked well for me). I tried removing/inserting RAM, HDD, CMOS Battery but nothing can make my MBP recover from sleep . Does anyone have expirience similar to mine? Solutions? Suggestions?

I would not expect a dead PRAM battery to casue that. If it did, zapping the PRAM would restore function until the computer was again deprived of all power--wall and main battery.
Can the computer run at all? If you can get it to wake up, that is a different set of issues than one that will not wake up at all.
If it won't wake up at  all: Remember that the MacBook Pro 4,1 had the dreaded "Nvidea curse." The Geforce 8600M GT video chipset was prone to failure due to improper manufacturing by Nvidea. Apple had a repair program to fix this at no cost to you but it expired in Dec 2012. Mine waited until June 2013 to die. It's still dead.
The only cure for the "Curse" is a new logic board. An Apple service provider may still have the hardware tester that positively identifies if the video chipset has failed.
If you can get the computer running: there was a sleep issue with mine (3,1 but same logic board architecture) but it went away when I upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6. Still, worth checking if you get the comptuer running. Open Network preferences and select Wi-Fi. When that screen comes up, click the Advanced button--it should come up with the WiFi tab active; if not, make is so.
Now delete any wireless networks you don't use on at least a weekly basis. My old MBP refused to wake from sleep and required a restart. A check of the system log showed the computer was trying to a connect to the wifi network at a lodge I'd stayed in a month before and 50 miles away. Deleting that "remembered network" cured the problem
