Cmos reset needed every startup

Hi
i have a new system and i have to do a Cmos reset before every time i start
when i start i got the question
" Cmos settings Wrong
  Cmos date/time not set
  press F1 for setup
Press F2 for load default values and continue"
If i press "F2"  XP loads and everything works OK
then i turn off and try to start
and No screen
OK reset Cmos and then back to the choice of F1 or F2
if i press "F1" i enter bios setup menu
and if i changes anything there and chose to save and exit (or press F10 )
it go black and no more happends
then i reset Cmos  and start again and i am back with the choice of F1 or F2
( i have checked the battery and it had good voltage )
any ideas ?

hi,
I guess you didn't get the CMOS setup correctly. Just "Load Optimized Default" and Save and Exit. Don't change anything else. Does that work?
If not, "Load BIOS Setup Default" and see.
tried that
if i enter bios setup and exit without changes it will boot.
it seems that every effort to do any changes in bios results in black screen.
and i have to reset Cmos

Can you try booting the system out of the chassis, by jump starting the PSU?
that seems a bit to advanced to me  ???
it seems that i have to return the mainbord to the supplier
but thanks for yor support

  • Bios 3.40 - CMOS Reset needed after power off

I recently upgraded my 875P FISR2 board to the latest bios cause I hade some problems with my NIC. Everything works fine except when I power off the PC by the button or on the PSU the computer won't boot until i make a CMOS reset and redo all my settings.
Anyone else had these problems or something similar?
    /M

Try increasing the DDR Voltage to 2.7v~2.8v and maybe borrow a more powerful PSU like Antec 430w with stronger rails to test the system out.
The current PSU is just at the entry level for your power hunger system though it may do just good also.
You may also want to use  Memtest86 to test your RAMs health and for errors.
Lastly, I would like to know if you've done any changes in BIOS before your flash to the current one, if you did change some parameters before, I would recommend you to re-check your current BIOS settings and set to the parameters that you have done for the previous BIOS.

  • Do i need to load defaults after cmos reset?

MSI 970 gaming owner here, I reset the cmos after a bios update, do i need to press F1 go into bios to load setup defaults or can i press F2 to just continue into windows?

Clearing cmos resets to setup defaults. If you continue (F1) you are using defaults. In bios you can change settings if needed.

  • Why does my iPhone need every time to be hard-reset after charging?

Every time I fully charge my iPhone 6 Plus it turns off and doesn't want to turn on normally: I have to reset it every time by pressing the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button for a couple of seconds.
Also, sometimes after leaving it in sleep mode, when I wake the iPhone I find it having restarted alone without me doing anything: it asks me to type again the PIN number of my SIM card, as if it had just been turned on.
    What can I do?
is it a battery or a iOs issue?

I think you need to talk to App tech. If you were sent a forced upgrade, it forces the phone to reboot when it hits 100% charge. Problem is after update and/or restore, it continues to do the reboot after you hit 100% battery capacity.
I have 6 phones that do the same. The tech guys don't believe me or they do not want to admit they have a problem with the forced update.
It left me stranded without my phone and the data in it while I was away. Bought a android phone for a back-up but may keep it as a main.
It seems if you want to carry your phone now-a-days, you better carry a laptop with iTunes in case there is a issue.
This whole thing is getting out-of-control as I spend more time servicing my phone than it spends servicing me. Which was the reason for not connecting to iTunes and updating it and then my phone every other month. So what do I get, forced update and inoperable phones.
If you can get it connected and set again, don't let it charge to 100% again and it will be fine. Otherwise see apple.
Who owns these phones anyway? It certainly is not me.

  • Finder window auto opens at every startup

I have a finder window open at every startup.... odd. I looked in my accounts and login items and it is blank.... I then looked in the login options and the auto log in as "me" is checked, display login windowas: list of users is checked, and show the restart, sleep and shut down buttons is checked....
What do I need to do to get rid of this finder issue?

    Zoberg,
I have the exact issue, and based on the person's response to my post, it's my fault for that window popping up all the time...

  • Ram slots not working after CMOS reset

Im using MSI K9N Neo V2 mb, and it was doing fine until i reseted CMOS. Now 3 out of 4 ram slots are not recognized by BIOS nor Windows. Im sure that ram memory is ok, cause ive checked all of it by replacing it between ram slots, and they're only working in slot nr 4.
I know that the MB is old, but everything was working fine, and suddenly went wrong after CMOS reset
    Things i did to fix:
    Updated BIOS
    Msconfig memory uncheck box
    Cleared CMOS with jumper
    Replaced CMOS BAT
Checked if smth's wrong with cpu
Cleared RAM slots with rubbing alcohol
System wont even boot without memory in DIMM 4 (ram slot 4), and BIOS only recognizes memory in DIMM 4
This is really frustrating, because there is no reason for smth to not work all of a sudden
    Any help? Tnx

There is a known issue with Powerbooks with the lower memory slot failing, and it sounds like yours may be starting to fail. At one point there was an Apple recall for a small sliver of Powerbook systems to fix that.
The alternatives are to run with 1GB in the upper slot, try one of the internet vendors that say they can fix that (check references), or install a used logic board. I don't believe Apple is repairing Powerbooks anymore, so if you want to buy a used logic board, you'll need to install it yourself, or perhaps an Apple Authorized Service Provider would be willing to do the work.

  • K8N Neo4 Platinum boots only with CMOS reset

This is my first build (and perhaps my last). The system ran without error for two weeks but the BIOS recognized only 2.88 GB rather than the 4 GB which are in the DIMM slots. I removed the power cord, put on an anti-static strap and reseated two of the 1 GB sticks. Since that time it will not boot without a CMOS reset. (But the BIOS recognizes 3.9 GB on most of my boots. On my last one, it was back to 2.88 GB).
    Here's my booting process:
Remove power cord and switch PSU off.
Put on wrist strap and depress CMOS reset button on board for ten seconds.
Insert power cord and switch PSU on.
At this point the system boots normally without my depressing the normal power switch at the front of the case! And it runs without error once it boots.
I can reboot the system from the operating system without problems. When I shutdown (power off), depressing the normal power switch has no effect and I have to boot with the CMOS reset process above.
Memtest86 shows no memory errors. A similar thread with Neo2's suggested setting ht = 4x but that didn't help in my case. I also let the BIOS load optimized defaults but that didn't fix things either. I'm open to whatever suggestions you can make! (If my signature with my system configuration doesn't appear, I'll post it in a followup.)

Looks like a Memory/Motherboard problem but I've never heard of it before or a low powered power supply could stop it recognising the 4GB so may be worth borrowing a more powerful one to test and see.. all out of ideas on this now
You were right. I borrowed a Rosewill RE501-BLK 3.3v@28a, 5v@30a, 12v@34a, 500W and now I don't have to reset the CMOS to boot! The case power switch still doesn't work--I have to turn off the PSU and turn it on again to boot--but others in this thread have suggested improper wiring of the switch which I'll check out. But I certainly can live with this since the PSU power switch is at least external to the case (as opposed to the CMOS reset switch). Now I'll go to the PSU thread to pick out a new PSU.
The BIOS on repeated boots recognizes the memory as about 3.7 GB (and Linux at about 3.4 GB, but I suppose that there are "good" reasons that OS's give a different number than BIOS's) and I can live with that, also, since, in an earlier post in this thread, I quoted MSI's "warning" that I could only expect 3+ GB to be recognized by the BIOS if I filled all 4 DIMMs with 1 GB sticks. But I think my 1.52beta MS-7125 BIOS also contributed to this increase. (My v. 1.3 BIOS recognized only 2.88 GB.)
I'm happy and thank all who contributed suggestions to this thread. Now I need to configure the software, a task that I know at least something about.

  • Com.apple.audio.coreaudiod error on every startup

    Hello,
I was does some system cleaning and maintenance and noticed that every time I start the computer, I get an error in Console:
com.apple.audio.coreaudiod     106: _RegisterApplication(), FAILED TO establish the default connection to the WindowServer, _CGSDefaultConnection() in NULL
And then it does it again right away:
com.apple.audio.coreaudio{106]     _RegisterApplication(), FAILED TO establish the default conncetion to the WindowServer, _CGSDefaultConncetion()is NULL
I was wondering what this means and how to keep this from happening. Since it involves core audio, this could be a potentially annoying problem if it has other effects (that I might see later), because I do music production.
I am using 10.6.8 on an early 2011 Macbook Pro and primarily use Logic 9.
Also does anyone know if I can prevent PACE and Digidesign/Avid stuff from running on every startup and just when I actually use ProTools or other PACE-protected programs?
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Sorry I shall explain.
iMac been running very sluggish since Snow Leopard installed. Programs take ages to load. Freezes in OS and spinning beach ball all the time as well.
Did a search about a warning that get popping up which unfortunately I can not remember (sorry) but something to do with sound cdsa ? That's not right but searched and kept getting the same advice :
    http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist+error&ie=utf-8 &oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
    Ditch the com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist
Did this and the iMac ran at super light speed. Applications opened really quickly no beach ball at all - but no system sounds, emptying trash etc.
Dropped com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist back in LaunchDaemons Repaired Disk Permissions and got my system sounds back but got the beach ball back too and slow performance and crashes freezes etc.
    Any advice would be great

  • All Network Volumes set as Login Items open in Finder on EVERY startup

    ...after updating to 10.5.8
I have a Mac running on an otherwise all PC network. Before updating to 10.5.8 I had 5 network volumes set to "connect" on startup automatically (System Prefs / Accounts / Login Items). This worked perfectly and connected to these volumes silently without me having to ever worry about it. I didn't even have to check the "Hide" boxes.
After updating to 10.5.8 however, it became completely annoying. Now it still connects to these volumes, but opens up every single one in Finder upon every startup. That's 5 windows I have to close every time I startup my computer. It may not sound like the worst thing in the world, but mind you I have to log out and back in every day for work. Even checking the "Hide" checkboxes don't do anything.
Anybody experiencing the same problem? Anybody know a workaround or fix? My company has a rather large and complex network so staying connected to certain folders that I use is a must. Thanks.

Thanks to both of you. I guess the search I ran wasn't good enough as I didn't find the discussion that you posted.
One of the possible workarounds posted there was to use a third-party program that I found difficult to understand and use. Instead I took V.K.'s advice and made an AppleScript and then made that script launch at login. Works like a charm.
Only difference is that my AppleScript isn't located in the Utilities folder (10.5.8), instead I got to it by going to Applications / AppleScript / Script Editor.
sorry, my mistake on the location.
Then I made a script and saved it as an application. I then put that application in my Login Items (System Prefs / Accounts / Login Items).
If you're having trouble finding the mount volume (or server) address, here's how you can find it: If you are currently connected to the volume(s) that you want to use, left-click it and hit Cmd+I (or right-click, Get Info). Use the address next to "Server:" - That's it!
Hopefully Apple will fix this bug soon so people don't have to make AppleScripts just to make the OS work correctly.
I wouldn't bet on it for leopard. leopard development has stopped now after snow leopard has been released. historically, Apple only releases security patches for old OS versions once a new one comes out. Interestingly, this bug is present in snow leopard too! or maybe they don't consider it a bug and this is how it should work. one can make a case for this, I guess.

  • How can I reset the DEFAULT zoom view in Firefox at 125%, like IE, so I don't have to reset it every time ?

How can I reset the DEFAULT zoom view in Firefox at 125%, like IE, so I don't have to reset it every time ?
I have seen this question asked previously and it seems there is no answer.
I know that one can change each individual web page (that reset defaults back to 100%) and, alternatively and apparently one can load an add-on to fix the default size at Full Zoom.
... But any hints on how to achieve a DEFAULT 125% zoom would be much appreciated.

    Press CTRL + 0
Have you tried Firefox's zoom feature? Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages
You can "zoom" all sites using this add-on: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint]. After setting your global zoom level, you can still fine-tune the zoom on individual sites.
After installing NoSquint, click the % on the Add-on Bar to call up site preferences, then click the Global Settings button, then the Zooming tab.
If you don't have the Add-on Bar displayed, you can right-click the new tab button ("+") or a blank area of the tab bar to the right of it and choose Add-on Bar from the shortcut menu.
You can experiment with sizes larger than 125%, but I wouldn't go much higher than 150% unless you have a large high-resolution monitor.
If there are particular sites that still present a problem, feel free to post their URLs.
You can find more information about the zoom features Firefox offers in these articles:
[[Text zoom]] - For zooming text only
[[Page zoom]] - For zooming the whole page (including images etc.)

  • ITunes 11.x resetting itself every time its closed and relaunched

Itunes 11.x keeps resetting itself every time I close it and then later reopen. It prompts accepting the end user agreement, then upon entering, all the sync preferences are reset. Doesn't seem to effect backup of apps or music library. I'm using windows vista 64. Tried reinstalling several times removing every apple component including, all apple sub files, preference files in windows user folders, and all other apple folders, with no change upon reinstallation. Tried resetting sync history/cache in iTunes preferences, tried resetting admin rights in windows, tried enough to make this miserable. Can't find any solutions online though have found a lot of people complaining about the same issues with iTunes 11. Thought about removing 11 and installing older version though figured I'd try here first for a solution.

At every startup, Mac mini desktop freezes for 10 mins before I can start any program, what should I do? The mouse cursor can move around, but the icons are not responding at all. Can't click on anything during the "freezing" period, and this "freezing" happened with every startup. Waking up from sleep mode is OK. • Have to reset Safari every time I access FaceBook - no other apps

Help - I have to reset Safari every time I want to access FaceBook, but not any other app.  Only happened today after update last night.  Is there a patch?  Some other method to fix it?  This is for a MacBookPro notebook.

The message says the server dropped the signal.  Don't think it's my server, because it only happens with FB.  Yes, the same thing happens no matter how I approach it on my Mac.  I don't have the problem if I log in from PC or iPhone.  I can eventually get on if I reset Safari and reload FB, but I'm spoiled by previous performance to expect immediate response.

Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to restore OS X.
Read before restoring > OS X: About OS X Recovery
OS X Recovery does require a high speed broadband connection.
If this works, make sure to backup your important files ASAP.
