CMS Help!

Hello,
I am a middle of the road developer - not an expert, not a
newbie. I have had more clients ask me to be able to update their
sites in their own. I have had some clients use Contribute - but
then they are limited to just the pages that are html and as well,
limited to the one computer that the software is located on.
I have seen some larger developer who are using content
management systems to develop the majority of thier websites - one
system is ExpressionEngine from pmachine.com. I have done some
administrative sections for clients with ASP/MSSQL, so I could
realistically write my own CMS, but do I want to or am I just
recreating the wheel so to speak? If I create my own, I would be
more comfortable with ASP, but is it better to write it in PHP?
I have one particular client that uses a backend MS SQL
database (it is a doctor's office) that we hope eventually we can
hook up to for the web site, but at this point, we have to have the
two separate. So at this point, I want to have a CMS for them that
is MS SQL based - but the more research I do, the more I see PHP
and MySQL being used for CMS. Is there a reason for using one
language over the other? I think PHP is becoming more industry
standard, but MS SQL is a more powerful database. (can I write it
in PHP with a MS SQL database?)
I also have a new set of clients that need similar sites that
would be best run with a CMS. I want to be able to offer different
design templates for them to choose from (templates or different
css files??), have the basic pages set up that they all will
probably need - but also be able to offer them the ability to add
their own pages, forms, mailing lists, forums, etc. Also, I don't
need a user-friendly interface to get it set up, but would need a
very user-friendly interface for the clients to do their updating.
Any advice here?
On top of it all, I have two clients that I would like to set
up their sites with a CMS, but they also both need to be able to
have online ordering. I have set this up with Web Assist's shopping
cart - so I can do it from my end, but can it be integrated into a
CMS. I like to have control over the products and how they come up,
and in building the database - so again, I should build my own -
but I thought if I can find a solution that will work for a variety
of client and is basically prebuilt that I can customize, that
would be a big asset to me.
Oh, and is it better to have a CMS that is database driven or
that it html based? Searchability?
I don't mind a large learning curve for a CMS, but really
want to start out with one that is highly recommended, that I can
customize if I need to, and hopefully will work with a dreamweaver
template/design, will stay around - or something that I can still
use if they are not around, and will work with all these different
situations (and I would like to win the lottery too - which is more
likely?) I know there are hughly expensive CMS programs out there -
I would of course love to find a free one that I can customize, but
I don't mind paying ($100 - 250) per site (but not paying each
month) I would love any recommendations!! Does anyone have a web
design firm that uses a solution for their clients and that they
are happy with??

Contribute as a CMS help

I'm having difficulties finding a trial version of the CPS software or any related info on Adobe's site.
I have contribute CS4 and would like to evaluate a solution where others can edit sections of my website in a browser. I thought contribute enabled that, but I can't find any meaningful information on Adobe's site. There used to be some tutorials I remember watching, but they don't exist anymore.
The contribute product page talkes about a user license for CPS, but I can't find a trial version of the CPS either, only a trial version of contribute.
Adobe contribute doesn't even show as a product to select in adobe TV! Is Adobe abandoning contribute?

When you create your component that you want to serve as a Search Help, be sure to add the Web Dynpro Interface IWD_VALUE_HELP. You must also implement the Method of the Component Controller - SET_VALUE_HELP_LISTENER (added by the above mentioned interface).
In the component where you want to use this search help - add a component usage (just like you would for an ALV) except for the above custom component you created to serve as a Search Help. Then for the properites of the context attribute that you want to attach the search help, Change the Input Help Mode to Freely Programmed. You will then get a new property called Input Help Component Usage. Simply choose the name of the component usage you just created.

Wordpress/CMS help...

I'm trying to create a Content Management System for my latest site.. basically I have news to be updated all the time on this site, and would like to just use Wordpress as a CMS so all I need to do is post a new story, and it will become to the top story on my site, and the rest will work its way down. I also want to be able to tag it on the different driver profile pages. I'm just looking to get into the right direction. I already have Wordpress all set up and installed on our server. If anyone can please just get me pointed in the right direction, it would be much appreciated!

That's a blog. Wordpress will do that for you without even breaking into a sweat.

If you want to edit your Wordpress theme and you have a reasonable knowledge of CSS HTML, then look into "Child Themes." Find a solid theme and then make it your own with a child theme.

How to install a CMS

hi friends
we are implementing SAP HR in our company. we have ECC 5.0(Aix 5.3 64 bit with oracle 9i) and we have a requirement to implement CMS (content mangement server) for the payroll & uploading of employee photos.
could you please help in providing us the overview of what are the requirements of installing a CMS in SAP.We only have one windows 32 bit machine with 160 gb of hard disk and 2 gb ram. So do we need to purchase another machine or can we configure the CMS on this spare machine.
also, is it possible to configure the CMS on the SAP application server with existing landscape without the need of buying a new hardware.
i would really appreciate if you could help me on this topic. I have read the CMS help document but i need expertise from people who have implemented CMS or are planning to do , to know what is the best practice.

You could install CMS (usage type DI) in 2 ways:
1. Install it as a standalone instance of with NW 640 SAPinst, which I recommend to go with because of flexibility.
2. Patch all necessary components by SDM to an existing AS Java instance, to find needed components in SWDC:
Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group" SAP NetWeaver" SAP NETWEAVER" SAP NETWEAVER 04" Entry by Component" Development Infrastructure

BAI flat file format?

Hi Chinna,
This file is used for SAP financial purposes and this does interact mainly with the Banks. Banks have different format like bai, bai2 etc. BAI and BAI2 formats differ in their level of information detail. BAI does not separate out the incoming check line items by invoice subtotal reference. Conversely, BAI2 splits the check total into separate invoice references and associated payment amounts. As a result, your hit rate percentage of payment-invoice matching from each transmission is likely to be higher when using BAI2 rather than BAI formats.
Now coming to your question that you are getting a bai file and you need send to sap. Usually how we approach this is we will read the legacy file with file adapter and then will convert into the bai file format and drop the converted file on a shared drive. There are standard programs in sap which picks this file and loads the data in sap. If your client has different structure then the abaper may need to change the program accordingly.

The bottom line is the standard program in SAP expects this format and you using PI will make this file from your legacy file. How it loads into sap can be find from any of your FI consultant, he will be aware of all this.

Help with user interface dilemma! Edge/ Muse/ CMS

I'm designing a website for a visual artist. She wants a section on her website with a photo gallery of the art that is currently showing in her New Orleans gallery, so the photos in it have to be easily edited and updated.
My first thought was to just allow them to change/edit the photos in the photo gallery from the Adobe Business Catalyst dashboard, but she is pretty technically illiterate and she's constantly adding new work to the NOLA gallery, so for her to login and change it on BC every time the NOLA gallery changes would be a bit of a hassle. I also wanted to add a slideshow with custom animation I made in Edge Animate, but as far as I can tell, you can't add custom Edge slideshows as widgets to Muse.
What I'd like to do is design an image gallery in Edge that cycles through pictures uploaded on Flickr/ Picasa/Facebook etc., dynamically. That way my client can use one of those websites to manage and organize her photos the way she wants them to appear and it will automatically feed to the slideshow. I've spent several hours searching for where to start in coding this and can't find anything helpful.

Does anyone have any suggestions on writing this code, or know of any way to build slideshow widgets in Edge for use in Muse? Any and all help is appreciated!

Mr Staff your reply is not helpful at all! It does not answer the question. The poster was asking for help on how he can achieve dynamic functionality with using Muse and Edge Animate. You answer is simply not helpful.
For the poster. Muse does not have built in functionality for dynamic content. It's for static sites. Any question about dynamic content and cms, Adobe would point us to their clunky and very very very very slow Business Catalyst. We can't expect anything from Adobe to be optimized for speed - just take for example the stupidly slow loading Adobe forums we are right now.
Anyway and idea I have is to design a slideshow is Edge and use xml or json for you images. Our can use php to generate our json file. Example, make a PHP file that reads all images in a folder output the list as json and load it to your edge animate slideshow. This way you can just create a simple page where then client can just upload her photo on the folder you specify on the server. This can be done with Flickr, although I haven't tried it, however you may need to use their APIs.

Help with Java CMS

Help me with choice CMS on Java. I've looked at http://java-source.net/open-source/content-managment-systems and decided to use OpenCMS or Magnolia, both are free and with source code available. From CMS I need:
- interface and content internationalization support;
- easy-to-understand source code;
- modules (plugins) support;
- WYSIWYG editor;
- page templtates;
- forum (can be available via modules);
- user management.
I will need to add extra business-specific functionality, though I need a good-designed modules or easy-to-understand source code of CMS to write my own code.

My CMS website is built with Flash...help!

To access the back-end CMS of my website it works on a double click basis, not compatible with touch screen....so apparently even if I downloaded something like iswifer or firesky it still wont work.... any ideas?
Or do I have to pay my web guys huge amounts to make my website compatible!

If you have had the iPad for less thaen 14 days you should be able to return it. If they refuse, I suggest you call Apple Customer Support and see if they can help you.
As to the effect of going from Flash to HTML5 that is really impossible to say for sure. In most case it does not have any effect if done correctly.
Flash is the old way and HTML5 is the new way. So eventually you will need to do it.

Need some help after inserting CMS system

Hi on my site ive inserted an CMS system from Cushy. It all work that isnt the problem. The problem is that my page is a mess now.. The only thing ive addes is a cms code so im hoping the solution isnt hard to do.
There are three pages that are complete changed.

CMS and Parallel GC consumes high CPU-Need Help

We are using Hot Spot 64 bit JVM(java.runtime.version=1.6.0_26-b03,java.vm.version=20.1-b02),And in production we are facing a issue with long pause time during GC.While monitoring we also observed that CPU consumption(Almost >90%) during GC was very high.
Currently we use three 8 core 32 GB RHEL server each having total of 4 JVM with following config
Box(Server) 1:
1)2 online JVM with xms=xmx=4g and xmn=1g,GC-CMS,initialoccupationfrequency=50%
2)2 batch JVM with xmx=4GB,xms=512MB,GC-parallelGC
Box(Server) 2:
1)2 online JVM with xms=xmx=4g and xmn=1g,GC-CMS,initialoccupationfrequency=50%
2)2 batch JVM with xmx=4GB,xms=512MB ,GC-parallelGC
Box(Server) 3:
1)2 online JVM with xms=xmx=4g and xmn=1g,GC-parallelGC

My quesstions
1)How much resource normally CMS or Parallel GC consumes?
2)Does having 4 JVM in a server causes this problem?What is the optimum to have?
3)What will happen if all the four JVM triggers GC

I am trying to make an Edge Animation work on a CMS. I used "AdobeEdge.loadComposition" to find the .JS file, but it is looking for the images in the "/image" folder. I would like to store the images in another place. Please help me accomplish this.

Ahhhhhh, ok. Figured this one out after digging more.
Here's the answer from another post. Hope it helps someone!
If you need to set an absolute folder url, or you are pulling the content from a server that does not host the content, you can manually update the <projectname>_edge.js file to specify the directory:

Just beware that if you re-publish the files, you'll need to redo any custom modifications. I do this for off-server projects and it works very well so long as you make all the changes in each JS file where you need to specify the exact path.

CMS & ACS 3.0 please help

I'm tryng to access CMS of a Cisco 3550 SMI IOS 12.1(11)EA1 with this aaa configuration:

If i use tacacs+ to access the switch via vty 0 4 i use the username and password (privilege level = 15) configured in ACS 3.0 with no problem (sh tacacs confirms this). But if use the same username and password (or the password only) to access the web console of the switch it doesn't work:
AUTHORIZATION REQUIRED
Browser not authentication capable or authentication failed.
The browser is ie 6.0 sp1 jre plug-in is 1.31, switch ip address is in trusted sites all java is enabled (everything is configured as reported in the document troubleshooting CMS).
If i remove aaa (no aaa new model) and set ip http authentication enable i can access the web console using the enable password with no problem (i also tried netscape 7.0 but with no results).
I do not use any proxy.
I'm getting crazy (very close to open a TAC)

I am having the exact same issue as described by mayer. 3750 series stack, running the latest release (upgraded to see if it resolved the issue, but it did not).
Release: c3750-ipservices-mz.122-44.SE.bin
When configured with aaa new-model and ip http authentication to local all works fine, but as soon as I set the ip http authentication to default list (which holds my tacacs and then local user) it prompts me a couple of hundred times for username/password.
I am aware that some releases require different configuration (some require the aaa config under vty lines, other under console). The release I am runing holds ip http v1.1 and should support the ip http authentication method. However, it fails.
Hope somebody found a solution.

X-CMS - Developing own Upload Interface - PLEASE HELP

We do not want to use the Portal Admin tool and the myContent portlet for uploading/editing/deleting
content from the CMS but want to develop our own Interface and classes. CAn you
point me somewhere what API should be used?, how to go about it etc.

Is your goal to upload content through the BEA CM API into Documentum? If so,
I don't believe they support updates in their SPI implementation. For this, the
dctm control is probably your best option.
If you are attempting to upload content to the BEA Repository through the CM API,
what specifically are your issues?
