CMS in Dreamweaver

Please help....
I have almost finished a site for a client who has NOW informed me he would like to be able to go in and edit text and photos. Whithout using "cushycms" or any other online site how can this be done?
Thanks in advance

You can build the administration pages yourself.  I suggest you consider using WebAssist's DataAssist to help.  I use it on nearly every site I build.

Help! a client wants me to create a website and would like me to create it with CMS! How do I do that with dreamweaver?

CMSs come big and small depending on your coding skills, web server, and client's requirements.
    Cushy CMS - (very basic)
    No scripts or databases required.

  • CMS for Dreamweaver and PHP with MySQL

    Hello
I am at a medium level with Dreamweaver MX and 8. I have
created a dynamic website running PHP and MySQL. The site sells
luxury yachts (resales). What I need is a simple, not too custom
code heavy content management system to allow the client to update
dynamic text areas and upload images via a web browser (IE7 PC).
The site needs the ability to input new boats, and delete sold
boats (flush out the database items).
Has anyone got a recommendation for some CMS software,
preferably Mac OSX PPC and running on a server under linux.
I don't mind buying it, in fact rather do that than risk
    shareware going forward.

I have the exact same need. Looks like nobody had any
suggestions for the original poster. Perhaps someone can make a
recommendation this time? I too am looking for a commercial
    product, rather than open-source.

  • Using a CMS with Dreamweaver

I'd like to build a news-oriented website that takes
advantage of Dreamweaver's design capabilities, but utilizes a
    Content Management System.
The goal is to build a dynamic site that will be updated with
5-10 new items per day, and have those live in a searchable
    database.
Can anyone recommend a CMS that works well with Dreamweaver?
Or offer any other suggestions as to how to achieve that goal with
    CS4 as the backbone?

    Hi Paula,
I have not personally used either of these on a production
    system, but
there are some extensions available to integrate with
    Dreamweaver:
    Drupal:

    WordPress

Be sure to search around because I am sure there are more.

  • CMS for Dreamweaver designed site

HI, I designed an 8 page website for a friend with dreamweaver cs3 and he would like to access the pages himself to make text changes from his own PC.
Is there a CMS that he can download and use to change text and images on a website desinged with CS3, I see from other discussions Webassist and Cushycms mentioned, but are they suitable for CS3 designs.
    Thank you

This should have been discussed & in your contract well BEFORE you began buiding the site.  It costs more and requires extra coding to make a CMS site.  I hope you plan to bill for all the extra work involved.
#1 find out if your client's server supports PHP & MySql.  This will be required for just about any CMS you decide to use.
#2 The CMS you choose will depend on 4 things:
         a) your coding skills,
         b) client's  requirements,
         c) your server's programming languages,
         d) project budget.

  • CMS with Dreamweaver?

We have a very large site that has lots of CF apps. The
client really wants a CMS to allow end users to edit pages. We are
looking at Contribute because we really want to be able to edit the
pages in Dreamweaver for those of use that do coding and that seems
to work. So we are trying to find some open-source CF CMS that we
can use with Dreamweaver templates or something. We want to be able
to use our DB for validation to access. Of course they are looking
for taxonomy options, etc which we can't get for Contribute. Any
    one have any ideas?

    > Of course they are looking for taxonomy
    > options, etc which we can't get for Contribute. Any one

Contribute isn't really a CMS. It's an HTML editor. It
    manages HTML pages
not--content per se (which it sounds like you really need if
    they're talking
    about taxonomies).
If you want Open Source, I'd suggest not excluding PHP
    options, as that is
by and far the absolute largest pool of options to choose
    from.

  • Edit iweb site in Dreamweaver

Has anyone tried to recreate an iweb site using Dreamweaver on a pc? Why would you do this? Just for the experience of learning Dreamweaver. The first hurdle is trying to find all the images which are scattered instead of located in one images subfolder.

    > but I cannot figure out how to open
    > the main page and start editing it.
Read the instructions on the drupal site or elsewhere on how
    to modify or
customize the "template" system they use.
You cannot edit the actual pages of a drupal CMS in
    dreamweaver- it is all
php and included files and database calls. The "pages" you
    see in the site
don't exist anywhere, they are assembled on the fly by the
    drupal scripting.

  • Newbie: Edit Drupal site in Dreamweaver?

    Hi,
I've got a trial version of Dreamweaver and I'm attempting to
use it with a Drupal site but not having any luck so far. I've
downloaded and installed the Drupal extension for Dreamweaver,
Dreamweaver will connect to the site via FTP and download the site
to my local machine, but I cannot figure out how to open the main
page and start editing it. I just have a directory with 14 folders
in it, no recognizable "index.html" file that opens with the page
on it, and the index.php file just shows up blank in Dreamweaver.
If someone who knows can please point me at the file I should be
opening in Dreamweaver I'd much appreciate it.

  • CMS Design and Development

Hi, we are a small graphic and web design company.
With the expansion of CMS etc and the constant enquires by
customers (rightly so) "we want to be able to update photos and
    text ect"
I allways find when I ask the client that they actually don't
want keep adding photos and text all the time but just want the
power and convinience to do so.
My question is: Should I bulid a static site for the client
and have the client send the text and photos to replace and upload?
Build a basic cms through dreamweaver and replicate this
whenever a client might need this functionallity?
Find a 3rd party CMS that can <--! include ? Does anyone
    know one of these????????
Start putting clients onto something like Jooma or Drupal?
I know there are plenty of variables here but again the
client always wants some form of control and when it comes down to
    it they really don't.
eg I built an asp site in DW for a client and she asked what
can I have control of and I asked her what did she want control of
and She said everything. I then said why was this is and she said
    something like just in case.
Again the shifting of design into more Dynamic control for
the client and what is appropriate??
    Thanks

Most of my clients ask for some sort of CMS these days and if
    there's
nothing too complicated about the site, then I usually use
    Wordpress as
a CMS. I used to build my own simple CMS but find that these
    days there
are 3rd party apps that do it much better and save me the
    time of
building my own. Why reinvent the wheel if there is already
    something
that can do the job. I know a few people here recommend
    CushyCMS too
but I've not used it yet.
    http://www.cushycms.com/
However what I've found though is that many of these clients
    who asked
for a CMS still come to me and ask me to do the updates,
    because they've
not got the time, or because they haven't sat down and
    learned how to
use the CMS. They often don't realise what's involved in
    maintaining a
    website.
My philosophy is if they want a CMS, then give them one. But
    if they
come to me for updates, then I'm happy to do them, and charge
    them for them!

  • Dreamweaver rame

    Bonjour,
Merci.

If there is a solution, you'd probably find it on the Adobe forums:

  • PHP MySQL NULL Values ??

    Hi,
I am trying to implement a CMS in Dreamweaver MX 2004 using
PHP MySQL. My Product table contains fields that are not relavent

  • Create editable content area

    hi,
i noticed in dreamweaver there is create editable regions etc. how can i create a page that when the user logs in they can input the text and click update and it will change the public index file?
dont really want to go and use joomla or anything if possible.
    many thanks

I have no idea whether InContext Editing can be branded. I doubt it, though, because it's an Adobe hosted service.
Creating a simple CMS in Dreamweaver is perfectly possible. See the tutorial athttp://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_dynamic_site_pt1.html. It runs you through the basics of inserting, updating, and deleting records.
Although I have never used it myself, several people have recommended CushyCMS for a basic CMS for clients. See http://www.cushycms.com/.

  • How to display a DIV or not, based on whether a logging session cookie exists or not?

    Hi everyone
I have created a logging system for a simple CMS using Dreamweaver server behaviours.
    My problem :
When logged in, I would like to show on my pages a DIV saying something like "You are logged in". If not logged in, I would like a different DIV with this text saying "Please log in"
I have simplified the problem as much as I could. Basically, I would like to show something or to hide it and show another thing based on whether the logging session exists or not. Would someone have a simple answer to this problem?
    Much obliged, W

    Thanks HJ
Your answer helped me find more info about cookies and session which is what I actually needed.
So I can show a particular item based on whether an admin user is logged in, I proceed as follow.
First I check whethet the session exists. If he has just logged in using Dreamweaver logging system, the session will exist. So put the text above the <head> and preferably at the very top of the page.
    <?php
    if (!isset($_SESSION)) {
      session_start();
    ?>
Then in the content portion of the page where I want to display, say a DIV with some content for the administrator I place the following :
    <?php
    $accessLevels = array('a','b');
    $validLevel = $_SESSION['MM_UserGroup'];
    if(array_search($validLevel, $accessLevels)>-1){
    ?>
    <div id="amendPage" style="margin-left:0;margin-top:0;height:20px;"><a href="/admin/changePage.php">Changez le contenu de cette page</a></div>
    <?php
    ?>
I am checking here whether the user is logged in based on his or her access level which I have previously set in the database. 'a' being an access level and 'b' an other one which might enable more things. So I can play with this array to show something to someone based on the access level.
If I were to remove 'b' from the array, the div would only be visible when a user with an 'a' access level is logged in and vice versa.
Not sure whether this is a good option, but it works for me

  • Dreamweaver 6- installed AppServ to read CMS website (php files)

    Hi there,
I have installed AppServ as my local testing server as I wish to read a website that was built as a CMS (bespoked site), the site has downloaded into my local site folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Ian\My Documents\Websites\GB Forklifts Test Site\httpdocs\
I have then set-up the site:
    1. Servers: localhost    under Testing
    Server Folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Ian\My Documents\Websites\Local Server\AppServ\www\GB  Forklifts Test Site\
Web URL:  http://localhost/GB Forklifts Test Site/
Testing Server: Server Model: PHP MySQL
When I click on the index.php file on the testing server (and also attempted on the Local site folder), the page comes up, I then get asked to click Discover, which I do then the Script waring comes up i.e You must discover dynamically-related files in orde to list them int he Related Files toolbar etc  I click Yes and the following message is displayed :-
Dynamically-related files could not be resoved because the site definition is not correct for ther server, Retry / Setup.  I clicked on Retry, which wasn't successful so pressed Setup and it reverts back to the Site set-up as in 1. above.  Please can anyone help, many thanks
I click on Live view the following msg appears from the test server:-
    Not Found
The requested URL /GB Forklifts Test Site/TMP2bqrfi.php was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.2.4 (Win32) PHP/5.2.3 Server at localhost Port 80
and the following msg via Liver view appears from the Local  Site Folder:
    Not Found
The requested URL /GB Forklifts Test Site/httpdocs/TMP1jdoyhk.php was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.2.4 (Win32) PHP/5.2.3 Server at localhost Port 80

Firstly, to be clear,  this is obviously not a dreamweaver issue but probably something in the apache configuration. To research this, I would try the following:
Convert the includes to "require" to see if errors appear. Make sure error display is active
Create a simple PHP page that has no includes and try it.
Try in at least Firefox and Chrome.
Check the paths in vhosts.conf (did the paths need to change change from one version of XAMPP to another)
Is apache listening to port 80 alone? (Listen 80) and are the virtualhosts set up for *:80?
    Is LoadModule vhost_alias_module modules/mod_vhost_alias.so uncommented in httpd.conf

  • Is Dreamweaver the best tool for creating a review site with user ratings/reviews? CMS?

    Hello everyone,
I am really wanting to develop an online gaming review website and have some Dreamweaver/Wordpress/CMS questions i am hoping you can all help me with, thank you in advance for your patience as i am new to site development.
I am thinking of creating a review site which will involve me writing about 100 online gaming reviews, and then getting users to upload their comments/feedback, etc. Each of the reviews would be updated monthly with stats, performance, and other details. Each review would contain a text review, video review, and various images and screenshots. Integrating user-generated content will be a big factor.
I am trying to de-confuse myself with all the prep work around making sure i have the right tools and technology i need to be successful. Many people tell me i should use Wordpress due to the nature of my site, or at least a combination of Wordpress and Dreamweaver - not sure how that would work exactly. I dont want to be too dependant on just Wordpress because i want to be sure my site can be customized and i grow and enable more advanted value for my site visitors. ...i would love to have a members only area at some point in the near future.
Please see below for some questions running through my head:
    1. Do i need a seperate CMS tool? ...and which may be best considering the nature of my site?
    2. Should i use Wordpress instead? ...or a combination of Wordpress and Dreamweaver? - why should i use a combination of the two?
    3. SEO is a major factor - does that make a difference?
    4. My reviews will need to be updated monthly, so i will try to maximize the use of templates, etc. Do i need to create a dynamic site in Dreamweaver or will a CMS manage that?
    5. Which options are best to avoid as much as manual coding as possible
Thank for you taking the time to read this, ...any tips/guideance would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Harps

Short answer: You don't need Dreamweaver.  Simply install WordPress on your server and use it to build your site & add/edit content.
