CMS/Licensing Rights Requied to Access WebI Extension Points

Hi Experts,
Are there any specific CMS rights (and, What are the specific minimum CMS rights?) and/or licensing requirements (have BOE premium) in order to acess WebI Extension Points added to Menu Bar using DHTML viewer under BOE XI3.1 SP3? Ask as I can see and use the implemented Extension Point when a user belongs to Administrator group but not when said user is not. This is so even if said user is given equivalent of explicit Administrator rights directly.
Apreciate any ideas or input based on experience using WebI Extension Points.

Hi Nicholas,
Create a new user and name him Test.
By default he has no explicit rights over the particular group.
Give some explicit rights over the Group in which Extension point reports belong to that Test User.
For that Group, open the user security and Add principles.
Give the View right to Group and test the issue.

XI3.1 REBean SDK programs don't migrate to BI4.x (it's not a public API in 4.x), so will need to be rewritten using RESTful Web Services.

Webi Extension Points - getting the SQL or DataProvider

Has anyone used Webi Extension points to "extend" the BO XI R2 Java Report Panel? Great concept - but seem like "all show".
We have a requirement that prior to the Refresh of a report - we modify the SQL. I do not see a corresponding Interface for the "view SQL" and "change/freeze SQL"
More importantly, I can not get to the DataProvider. The
IDataProviderPanel only has getName or getUniverseName? I need com.businessobjects.rebean.wi.DataProvider.
We cann't be expected to "decompile" ThinCadenza.jar?

Not only is it still a Lab project ...there is a contest using it and with the Rich client this mechanism can only prove to be more useful.
No, we are not looking to filter the query - we are htting "several" schemas with the same SQL Unioned together based on some logic. So we need to "modify" the final SQL.
I understand that the RE is not exposed (wish it were) - but the neither is ALL the Java Report Panel UI. If it were, we could "simulate the VIEW SQL button".
Or can we?
IQueryPanel Interfaced efines actions on the Query Panel.
Related - MAIN_TOOLBAR constant Integer that represents the main toolbar of the Query Panel that conaitns the Add query button.
The View SQL button is on the same toolbar. Is there anyway to invoke it?

Webi Extension Points - JRP deployment issue

Hi
I'm having a problem deploying webi extension points in JRP. I'm getting NULLPointer Exception with "Cannot read the script" message. The same code works fine in WRC. I've noticed this problem after updating to Fix Pack 2.6. Has anyone tried Webi Extensions Points in JRP with Fix Pack 2.6? Any idea what could be wrong?

I think I worked it out. You can download a look and feel jar from:
https://substance.dev.java.net/docs/skins/toneddown.html
and then use the look and feel classes in that library!

WebI Extension Points 3.0

Has anyone successfully used WebI Extension points under Enterprise 3.0?
I cannot seem to find the correct location for my classes or for webi_plugin.properties
The desktop rich client will find the properties files, but I can't make it work in Tomcat.

Hello JF,
I root my package folder containing the classes for Webi EP in AnalyticalReporting/webiApplet web app folder - the location where you put the webi_plugin.properties file.
The JRP will download the webi_plugin.properties file during initialization, and download the referenced classes listed in the file.
One way to trace this download is to bring up the web browser's Java Console, and click "5" in the window to get verbose tracing. You should be able to determine where you'd put the class file from the output.

Question on webi extension points

I am just wondering if anyone has used extension points to do the following?
to capture mouse hover (point) when user hovers over the report.
to capture the clicked cell whether it is a column header or cell and column index.

Hi gandams, unfortunately as David said , the event model of the extension point is not that fine grained and you can not trigger events from the report elements itself.
Apart from the report menubar/toolbars/dialogbox/popup buttons, you can trigger events for workflow actions such as refresh, drill, or when you switch report tabs. (please note that the opendocument event will be included in a next service pack).
Maybe as a workaround, you could create a new panel (left or right). Then point it to a JSP page where you will invoke a mix of Javascript/CSS and REBEAN in order to get values from dataproviders or a selected table.
From there you can create a tooltip on your report values and interact with the report.

Right way to use Web Apps on iPhone?

I'm not sure I'm doing right way using Web Apps on my iPhone.
Mostly I find the necessary Web Apps. on my Mac.
And type the url address on iPhone.
Then, if there is "view Web Apps" icon under the description of the Web apps, click to go and add it to home screen.
Or if there is no "view Web Apps" icon, just click the url of the Web App name.
Is this right way to add Web Apps I like?

When I find a web app I like in Safari I size the screen to what I want my homescreen icon to look like and click the + button. This adds a weblink icon to my homescreen making it easier to access than opening up safari and looking for a bookmarked page.

Not able to access web service with axis and tomcat

Dear all
i am trying to access web service using axis in tomcat.
i downloaded axis-bin-1_4.zip, unzipped it and installed it properly in tomcat.
i had tested axis, its working fine.
i had created a simple java class(a sample class from book) and deployed it in axis. i also created a client(a java consol class) for accessing that web service. but its giving error. i have no idea why this is comming.
plz point me in right direction.

Why has "Pin as App Tab" command disappeared when I right click on a web site?

Very much like FF4 and especially App Tabs. Today when I relaunched FF (1) App Tabs have disappeared (I have been reading how to keep them when I reopen FF) and (2) I no longer have a "Pin as App Tab" command when I right click on a web site I want to pin. Anyone got any clues? I am wondering if there is a conflict with Cooliris?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Cannot access web using hostname

I am not able to access web in hotjava webbrowser using hostname like www.sun.com. But it is possible to access using IP address. I am using solaris 2.6, hotjava 1.0 . I am new to unix. I do not know what to be configured to get it right.

You need to configure some nameing service, like nis,
nisplus or dns. In some networks a nis/nisplus server
can provide name->ip translation; but for a small
standalone system you'll probably need straight dns.
Setup /etc/resolv.conf (see "man resolv.conf"), add your
domainname and some dns servers. Test name lookups using
the nslookup utility.
Then copy /etc/nsswitch.dns to /etc/nsswitch.conf (see "man
nsswitch.conf"). Test name lookups via nsswitch using
getent ("getent hosts www.sun.com").

Publish Web Extension

Helllo,
I just installed the "Publish Web" extension to try our shiny new DreamWeaver CS5 with one of our "Windows Server" hosted sites.
The Adobe-hosted How-To page at: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/162/tn_16233.html says:
Once the extension is installed, Dreamweaver lists an additional option in the Access menu of the Remote Info category when editing a site.
Within either the Document or Site window, choose Site > Define Sites.
From the list of available sites, choose the site with which you wish to connect to the FrontPage server, and choose Edit.
Within the Site Definition dialog box, choose the Remote Info category.
From the Access drop-down menu, you will now see FrontPage Server. Choose this option and enter the connection information for your site.
Note: No one but your server administrator has your connection information. Please contact your server administrator and write down the information given.
After closing/opening DreamWever, I see that "FrontPage Server" is not present.
- I'm an asp.net "Microsoft" developer and it's not too likely that I'll be using DW anyway (just came in the Web Combo Pack with PhotoShop) but I thought I'd just check it out in case.
- I wonder if any of the experts on here might have a pointer that I'm missing?

Are you using dreamweaver CS5? The reason I ask is that dreamweaver does not have a 'publish to web' command, the frontpage to dreamweaver extension does but this extension does not work correctly in dreamweaver CS5 even though it will install, for more info see - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/162/tn_16233.html.
Your best option is to learn how to set up the site definition and ftp file transfer procedures for dreamweaver cs5, for this see - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_website_pt1.html.
If you intend to use dreamweaver for future projects I would also recommend purchasing a book dedicated to using dreamweaver such as -
'Dreamweaver CS5, the Missing manual or 'Dreamweaver CS5, classroom in a book' both of which are readily available from Amazon or any good book store.

Access Web Database - Select record and make report with all associated records

Hey everyone,
Right now I'm in the middle of trying to convert an Access client database to be web compatible and I'm running into some problems. For this question, I think I may need to explain a little bit about the database:
The database I'm making is designed to store information about music rights for different songs. The users can input information about writers, producers, organizations, properties, businesses - which is stored all in different related tables. Then, when a
user inputs a song, they choose which writers, produces, organizations, etc. are affiliated with that song.
What I'm trying to do is make a report where you can choose a writer from the list of all the writers and then produce a report with all of the songs by that writer.
I was able to do this in the Access client by making a report that, when opened would trigger (using the On Open event) a form to open where you would choose a writer from a combo box and then click a button. When the button was clicked, it would use the value
in the combo box in a query, which would find all of the songs by that writer and then open up the report which would have the writer and all of their songs on it.
Because web reports don't have many event options and web queries are very limited, I have not found a way to make this report.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
