CMS Publishing

I am having a problem with publishing certs to a directory server. I am
using Netscape CMS 4.7 to
generate certs. and trying to publish them to iPlanet Directory Server 5.1.
From what I have read, you need to have an existing entry in the Directory
Server in order to pub. the cert. In my case, I want the CMS to create the
entry at the time of publishing.
One of the CA Cert. Mapper Plug-ins gives you an option to create an entry
at publish time, but the User Plug-ins do not allow this. (CMS created entry
for CA, but failed to post Cert??????)
Is there any simple way to do this, or do you need to create a new mapper
plug-in to fix this problem? If so, are there any shareware plug-ins that
are already written?

I was able to kludge this once by redirecting the user publisher to use the ca publisher function. I did not see any problems with this in affecting other functions. I asked this forum (before it was SunONE) about this and if they saw any problems with it but received no response.
You redirect by editing the CMS.config file in CMS 4.2. Seems the have changed this file somehow in 4.7 but as you asked about 4.2, I won't try to find it in 4.7. Also don't have a current install of 4.2 so I can't define which lines for certain get changed.

BTW- I am not iPanet engineer so don't quote me on this but I have made it happen to test with CertCo OCSP responder requiring this. I think CertCo did right a new publisher function to work with CMS. This is probably the better way to do it.

I'm kind of wondering here.
Most banner-makers are still using AS2 for the reason that
"penetration" is not 100% with AS3. But in europe its only 1.5%
that divides them.
I am aware that one can force the user to upgrade with
SWFobject, but to keep things clean, the numbers from 9.0.0.0. to
9.0.115 shows a very high difference in penetration.
Im starting a new job monday, Im going to control a CMS with
"some" Flash components. So what would be the safest approach for
me? I would love to hear your opinion on this.
1. just do the newest publish with 9.0.115 and make SWFobject
within the CMS
2. dont upgrade my Flashapplication and publish in straight
9.0.0.0
Its only h.264 playback that is added to the new player, am I
wrong?
my fear is that I programme something in AS3 and all the
users can't see it, even that they will demand AS2, and I went on
AS with Flashcs3 and have never done AS2.

What JavaScript were you using to embed? Did your embed
script specifiy
9.0.0.0, or was it another version (for example, 9.0.16.0)?
If memory
serves me -- and it may not -- 9.0.16.0 was the first public
release, so
that pragmatically speaking, 9.0.16.0 may be your lowest
common denominator.

No reason to downgrade. Flash Player is designed to be
backward
compatible, and 99% of it is, in my experiece. That was an
"add" string
concatenator what was dropped in Flash Player 8 (had been
deprecated since
5, I think, in favor of the + operator), but outside of that,
there's not
reason I can think of to roll back. Requiring something like
that would be
disastrous for users, in any case.

That is also my experience. Like the sprinter who shaves his
legs to
gain a few extra tenths of a second, agencies appreciate the
extra 1% (or
less, or whatever the figure is) of penetration rates for
previous Flash
Players.
It may sound like heresy, but honestly ... if you're
building banner
ads, there isn't any reason to use AS3, not for years yet --
unless you want
to require at least Flash Player 9. The speed increases you
get with AS3
(thanks to the new virtual machine), and the reduced memory
footprint -- all
the new improvements -- you just don't see their benefit,
generally
speaking, in the sort of programming that goes on in banner
ads. Heck, you
can even use AS2 to display video (though you don't get hi
def or fullscreen
capability until Flash Player 9.0.115.0).
That said, AS3 is definitely the wave of the future, as
cliche as that
sounds. It's easier to learn, if you're learning from
scratch. It's easier
on the processor. It's easier to actually use, because you
get a consistent
event handling model, directly instantiable movie clips and
text fields, and
so on. I've come to truly appreciate the
benefits/improvements of AS3 over
its predecessor, but easily half of my client work is still
in AS2 and
probably will be for years.
So, as always, know your audience and make sure to meet the
needs of
your expected users. I really do love AS3, but I'm also
living in a world
that tells me it still wants AS2.

Publishing for a particular CMS

Hi There
Just new to using Muse but before I dive in and learn all its bells and whistles I want to make sure this software will export / publish to what I can use.
I work for a company that use their own CMS platform for all our websites. We have a team of developers who make the CMS work and create plugins etc etc for it also
The question is how can we become a approved developer for Adobe so we could possibly be able to develop a plug in to publish to our particular CMS (meaning creating a CSS, template/theme and automatically creating our pages and modules within the CMS from Muse) and creating a widgets library with all our modules also that can be styled within Muse? Is this a possibility?

Migrating Publisher Database and related content from CMS in LSO

Dear Folks,
I am trying to migrate/move the published content from the existing server to a new server. My out come should be I should be play the same content through content player in the new server.
What is the process that is generally followed while moving content from server to server and how the publisher database details are moved?

Still I am trying to get a break through, but looks like this is a technical data migration (BASIS). I was able to freeze on the respective tables. Btw the content is not SCORM or AICC compliant so the learning transactional data will not take a hit while I am moving.

Can Muse be used to create a site that requires a CMS with multiple user accounts?

Hi, I am new to Adobe Muse and I would like to understand some specific things about the software. I have been comissioned to create a gallery website which requres a cms for use with mulitple accounts for the users/ artists to display seperate profiles and submit work to. Does Muse have this functionality and if possible to answer, how would I do this? I have looked at the tutorials on Adobe for Muse but I have not seen anything related to this, only the Busines Catlalyst website management software (if indeed it is software). Are there any tutorials on this or could I please be directed to one if no direct answer can be given here as I appreciate it is quite an indepth question. Thanks..

Wait for the new version of Muse which should be published during the first quarter of this year. I guess that in the new Muse version could be basic CMS features?

When I try to add a new web service host (actual hostname) in the Manage Web Services Hosts screen within the wizard, the url value ( e.g. http://hostname:8080/dswsbobje) also has the same message. i.e., "The server sent HTTP status code 503: Service Unavailable."

What happens if you test your same workflow directly on the local BIP server ?   (i.e. by-passing proxy, firewall etc)
Also, please Patch up to the latest version (4.0 SP02 Patch2.11) as there was an issue with WRC BI web Services previously.

Publishing issue with BOE XI 3.1 and SAP IK

Hi There,
this issue has been posted a few times before and I see other people are running into it as well. Nonetheless I have not found a satisfying answer in the Forum.
I have the problem that I can only publish a Crystal Report based on SAP BI if the publishing role is an Admin in BOE. that is not how it is supposed to work.
I followed all the guidelines and required settings and as soon as the publisher is no administrator I get an error. Publishing to BI works fine.
The error I get is:

- the user that is supposed to publish a report needs to be part of a role that has been imported
- that role needs to have the rights to view, edit, add, modify object as part of the role folder (or higher in the folder structure like the SAP system ID Folder).
detailed list of rights :
     Add objects to the folder that the user owns
     Add objects to the folder
     Copy objects to another folder that the user owns
     Copy objects to another folder
     Delete objects that the user owns
     Delete objects
     Edit objects
     Edit objects that the user owns
     Modify the rights users have to objects
     View objects
     View objects that the user owns
- you then need to assign a principal to the user group in BOE (CMC > Users and Groups > select the group > add principal) and assign the same rights
- then go to the Access Levels and use the Manage > user security option and give the role the following rights :
     View objects
     View objects that the user owns
     Edit Objects
     Edit objects that the user owns
     Use Access level for security assignment

Error when publishing report to remote crystal 2008 server

In attempting to publish a report to a remote crystal server (see code below) I get this exception.
Since the server is on a remote host, it doesn't make sense to me to set the BOBJHome property or pass the file path. This is why I am using the addUniqueFile() with the byte[] parameter file contents.
Is this the cause? Is there a better way? Please let me know if anyone has ideas.

This is an example of a stored procedure that is trying to be linked to a new report as the only datasource.
If I remove the parameter I can create a report, however this will return all of the results of thw query to the report, rather than the desired results. If I add the parameter on the Crystal Report, the stored procedure then has to return all of the results to Crystal and then perform the filtering of records. By using a parameter in the stored procedure, you should be able to do all of the filtering as part of the query on the databse server, making this more efficient.

Can't get past a "locked file" error, ie can't Publish?

This software is very very very difficult to configure -- but
I'd suppose you've heard that before re: Contribute C3. This is
trying to get a new client (we're a web hosting co, who just got
them from their previous web hosting firm who sold them on
Contribute....idiots!) Anyways, I've had NOTHING but troubles with
this app.....
I learned how to operate the app, and how to generate a KEY
to send to the new client, and made them an Admin and sent same and
then went over there to their offices. My client rec'd the CONN KEY
that I made. We ran it on their computer when prompted to by
Contribute. we then restarted with them now as an Admin. Working at
their offices, I was able to connect, then edit a page on their
website no problem -- BUT -- as soon as I tried to PUBLISH same,
you get a yellow bar up top that says "You can't edit this page now
becuase you are already editing it on another computer. Click here
to make this page editable" WTF???????????
This statement is wrong. No one else (other than me and my
computer is OFF) has the abiltiy to edit that page. No one else has
the credentials to enable Con to work on that client site
either...so....?????
I then click the 'here' and I get the notice that Contribute
must unlock the page (stupid non professional app!!!) and I then
try YES, and I get the dialog that says "no, access is denied or
there may be a permission problem."
This too is not correct. I personally made the perms for the
whole website folder structure read/write and they work fine. I can
use my own CMS system to login and make a change that works
perfectly.. But not using Contribute....sigh....and that client
WANTS to use Contribute....sigh....
Could someone offer help here? Adobe Tech support in some
other country doesn't seem able to understand my problem, let alone
help, let alone feel any sense of urgency as this is a CLIENT for
christsakes.....anyways...here's my questions...
Is there a way to totally CLEAR all the settings on the
client machine Contribute, then re-use the KEY to begin a new Admin
role? I'm a bit fearful of deleting that website but if someone
here who's NON adobe personnel says okay, that'd be my next step.
Or do I need to uninstall from my own box too?
Or, is there a way to fix this, without that deletion? I'd
feel better about another way....but no matter. My client only has
one eyebrow raised up at me right now, but if I don't come up with
an answer tomorrow, that client will most likely be gone!

Hi, try clearing the Contribute Preferences once and try the
same scenario. Check any .LCK file is created for that particular
page. Delete that file manually and make it editable.
To Clear the preference, quit Contribute, and then delete the
Contribute CS3 folder in C:\Documents and
Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\ and
also run the following command " reg delete
"HKCU\Software\Adobe\Contribute 4.1" /f " if you are using
Contribute CS3. Reconnect to the site and try the same scenario.
Note that, if you clear the preferences then no connection
will be listed in Contribute, you need to recreate the connections.
It will be like a fresh installation.

How to use the CMS functionality in Sun Portal Server 7.2

Hi All,
How to use the CMS functionality using the ccd.war(Portlet) which is available in the library as i could add it to my channel but not able to show the functionality as it is showing the error msg "You are currently not logged in. Please login." should I create userid and there respective roles inorder to use the CMS functionality.
Has any one used this as I could this in glass fish server.
Any Input is appreciated.

Alternatively,
1. ccd.war has 3 portlets in it:
(a) custom content definition portlet
(b) custom content portlet
(c) workflow portlet
2. Inorder to work with these portlets, user needs to be in anyone of the below roles:
(a)Consumer (b) Editor (c) Approver (d) Administrator (e) Submitter (f) Contributor (g) Publisher
3. By default ccd.war gets deployed using a default roles file (/var/opt/SUNWportal/tmp/ccd.roles.properties)
Note: In windows, you may not find this file
4. Access the portlets as a user in any of the role mentioned in the ccd.roles.properties
(OR)
you can use a new roles file which has mapping to your custom roles. For this , undeploy existing ccd.war and deploy again with a new roles.properties file

Unable to Check In Publishing Page

I am running into an issue with a custom page layout that I have created. On this page layout I have a publishing html field, publishing image field, and a publishing summary links field. The problem is when I check-in the publishing page
as a draft the content in the publishing HTML fields does NOT save and redirects me to the root page in that web.
I then checked the SharePoint ULS logs and found the following error.

I am getting this same error in SharePoint Server 2013 when creating new publishing pages with a custom Page Layout created using Design Manager. The page uses a custom Content Type isth a required column of "News Type" which I suspect is at the root.
The workaround is to Check In the newly Created page before adding any content, then check it out again. why you cannot check it in after adding any more information than the Name is a mystery.

Web services Publisher Error

Hello Experts,
I am ruuning down with an issue in Web I - web services publishing. When i tried to Publish the report as Web services Url, it says Connection time out. I tried to Add host in manage servers area (which is blank ), again it says "connection timed out"
Detailed error : HTTP transport error java.net.connection exception: connection timed out: connect
I looked in to web services deployment using the link webserver:port/dswsbobje. the axis2 home page opened up and all the services are active. However, when i looked into publish service, The SOAP address is showing a different IP.
Can someone let me me know how to change the SOAP address, which file to access? i can see dews.properties file has correct cms name.

Adobe Connect 9 Training Course Video gets resized after being published from Captivate 6

Hello!
I have an FLV that I have published to Adobe Connect 9 from Adobe Captivate 6.
I have set the size of the video to the dimensions that best display the FLV with player controls.
However, when I publish to Adobe Connect 9, the video is resized to a smaller size and looks heavily pixelated.
Is there a way to keep the dimensions and quality without Adobe Connect 9 resizing it?

If you notice in the image above the video is smaller and the CMS logo is very pixelated due to Adobe Connect 9 resizing it.
I am not sure how to keep the dimensions that I have from Captivate 6 and have it reflect after it has been published to Adobe Connect 9.
And is there more functionality that I am not able to access since I am using a 30-Day trial.

You are correct that this is a known issue. There was a fundamental change to the way objects are added to the timeline that came in with Cp6. The result is that objects such as your SWF animations are only loaded at the time they are added to the timeline, and this causes the slide flickering you witness. There's not really a lot you can do to get rid of it other than rebuilding all of your animations to be a single animation that once loaded will continue unabated until finished.

Problem in Publishing the certificate to directory server

I am having problem regarding the publishing the certificate.I am using iPlanet CMS 4.7 and iPlanet directory server 5.1
In the CMS >certificate manager > publishing module > mapper
It provides(manuals) two options to enable the publishing to directory server, i.e
1)create entry automatically(default plug -in)
2)Manual entry in directory and mapper to map it.
I tried both way.When automatically create option is selected it fires an error:
Failed to create the CA entry.There may be entries in the directory hierachy which do not exist.Please create them manually.
I am not able to figure out the problem,even if I create certificate hierachy in the directory server it gives the same error.Can anyone figure out the problem so i can publish certificate.Pleae mail me the solution if anybody knows.Thank you

Hi,
1. Please open the original project in Captivate 3. i.e. the .cp file in Captivate 3
2. Go to menu "Audio > Audio Settings"
3. Change the bitrate to 96kbps or 64kbps
4. Change the Encoding ferwquency to 44Khz
5. Save and close the project
6. Now open the same project in Captivate 5
7. publish the project
Audio should play correctly now..
