Hello.
When opening CMYK images in Preview or in Safari, they appear as black and unreadable!
Is there a way to fix this problem?
Thanks.

Is this any help?

Merge to HDR Pro does not work in Photoshop 14.2.1. Image appears black. What is the problem?

Attached is screen shot. What happens is I go to File/Automate/Merge to HDR Pro, then select my 3 images, which are flattened psd files (I have tried tifs and jogs too), hit OK, it processes them, but instead of the image appearing, I get this black image. You can see my original images at bottom... jpegs too),

  • Still images appear black in final DVD

I am making a 12 minute film on a Dell dimension 2400 using elements 2 (which I have done several times before without problems).
Project includes video and still photos.
Some of the photos appear black in the timeline and some appear black on the DVD.
What might be causing this? Thanks

  • Large images appear black

Large images may appear as black blocks. I've used 9GAG as an example because it happens quite often on 9GAG (so it was easy to find an example), but it happens on some other websites too. The images are displayed correctly in other browsers.

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

  • Why do my images appear black when I insert them into documents?, Why do my images appear black when I insert them into documents?

For the last few months when I try to insert images into word, powerpoint etc and also PDF's they appear as black.
My suppliers have also noted that this happens when I send images to them for artwork etc.
    Any clues please?
    Thanks!

At a guess? Because they're the wrong colour profile. But who knows, with that amount of info to work with it might also be the wind direction
Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • When opened, my image appears black with a few red lines at the top, yet the thumbnail looks as it should be. How do I fix this?

I have been working on an illustration in Photoshop for a few months now. When I tried to open it yesterday it came up as a single layered black image with a few red lines at the top. I have no idea what this is. I have not even used red in my artwork. However, no matter how many times open this file, the thumbnail still looks like my artwork, as it should be. How do I fix this? Will I be able to get my artwork back? Please help! Thank you in advance.

Make sure you has the latest Windows Device driver for your display adapted from its manufacturer's web site installed on your system. Perhaps you updated the device driver with a Microsoft Windows Update.   Microsoft update does not always install the correct update needed fpr Phoroshop.

  • PDF appears black in Preview

    Okay.  I have OSX 10.7.4.
I have Adobe Reader 10.3.1 (latest version).
When I look at the pdf online, it looks fine.  When I open a different PDF that's on my Mac, it looks fine.
When I open the PDF I want to print from the net, I click File-Print, and the preview screen pops up.  The page goes entirely black.  Any suggestions?

I don't normally use Safari, only for trouble-shooting, and I just opened a 2-page pdf in Safari. When I tried to print, it just showed a single blank page in the print preview mode. It looks as if you've stumbled upon a problem with the "Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in, Version 10.1.3" with Safari, which I (sort of) duplicated.
The only work-around I can suggest would be to save the pdf and use Reader to open and print it. Difficult to say if this is an Apple or Adobe problem at this point. The last update that Adobe issued was in April.
Another work-around would be to use Firefox with this plugin - http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/ - as Firefox doesn't work with the Adobe plugin. Or try Chrome which has it's own pdf renderer.
    Sorry,

  • Imported .bmp files appear black, no image can be seen

    Hi all,
I am attempting to import some .bmp assets that will be part of a webpage I am creating using iweb. However when I import the .bmp files they appear black instead of seeing the graphic. Any ideas?

    Ron
Yes but what color profile are they?
Given that they have red in them, then they are not greyscale images, however, given that they come from Illustrator there is a very good chance that they have a CYMK profile, and as I said, iPhoto supports RGB only. Open the images with Preview and use the Tools menu to ascertain the Color Profile. Change it to RGB if needed.

  • On PDF fine black image appears dark grey

We are using a mix of .TIF and .bmp images in black and type in black with a full background of Panotone Hexachrome Orange M. When we make a PDF of this the images and type appear dark grey on the PDF. When we print them they print out normal.

What can I say?  Stuff happens.

  • Image no longer displays, appears black

I'm running CC on iMac with Mavericks. I'm editting images building up adjustment layers and I get to 5 or 6 layers and the the image no longer appears - the edit window just shows a black rectangle, the same size as the image. The image is still in memory - if I export, save i can view the image. Adjustments still work - I've tested changing canvas size. I can run pluggins like Nik and the image appears in Nik but all black when it's returned to Photoshop. My only work around is to save image, quit and restart PS. This is seriously slowing down my work flow. This never happened when I was using CS6. I'm working on a high spec imac so shouldn't be a performace / resource issue. I'm only running PS and Lightroom.

Google updated the plugins recently to correct this problem:

Version 1.109 (December 11/2013) is the latest:
Fixed black or white tile artifacts that might have occurred after returning to Photoshop from plug-ins
You can find out the version you have installed by launching Photoshop:
On Mac: Select Photoshop>About Plug-in>Analog Efex Pro… (or any other NIK Plug-in)
On Windows: Select Help>About Plug-in>Analog Efex Pro… (or any other NIK Plug-in)

  • Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Here's what I've found on the issue:
Pantone color definitions have changed (coinciding with CS6) — they are now "Pantone+" (I think that's what they're called). The "+" apparently means they're now LAB colors. Lab colors are not properly displayed in Preview (or in Finder previews) — they display as black (as far as I can tell, in all circumstances). I'm sure it's a tad more complicated than that, but that's the gist.
Now the bad news — nobody seems to know anything about a fix or workaround (unless you convert your PDFs to process — this might be a fix for sending to clients). It causes issues for me in AI files — being able to view them in the finder (with previews) is a HUGE time saver for my workflow... when they're all black, not so much.
In my chat with a director of product dev at Adobe, they placed the responsibility to fix on Apple (assuming Apple wants to support Pantone color definitions in their OS).

  • Why are some jpg images scrambled when they appear in my screen saver?   The same images look fine in Preview and Finder.  Some images appear scrambled in the screen saver 'preview' window and the actual screen saver. Other jpg images look fine.

The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos.  However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled.  What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

  • Quick Preview toggle - images appear very soft?

I have noticed that when using Quick Preview to run through images in my projects all images appear sharp, however if I toggle quick preview off and then back on again the image never sharpens.
This is similar to the effect you would get on first view, i.e. an initial soft image that sharpens when loading completes.
    Has anyone else noticed this?

    Hi guys:
I came searching for this same problem and only happened upon a solution (at least for me) very accidently. In my case the "softness" doesn't seem to be actually linked to the "quick preview" toggle.
When I pull down the "view" menu from the top of the screen, I pass the "quick preview" command and go down to the bottom to "Proofing Profiles". The profile for the proofing was set to one of many of my printer's profiles, which was not calibrated, yet, for my mac. I selected, instead, a previously saved calibration setting (one that I made using the simple calibration wizard under the monitor system preference) specifically for my monitor, and the viewer image changed to look exactly as the one in Browser thumbnail; sharp and detailed.
I certainly hope that this may help you. As I said, this is not based on in-depth knowledge of this program, just trial and error, so may not apply to your situation.
    Good Luck

  • In Firefox 8.0, why are certain apparently random images appearing as solid black boxes? These images can be accessed when clicked on. (Cache has been cleared; no effect)

In facebook, the images sometimes appear as they should, and then they gradually shift to black. Although it appears that the images affected are random, the images that initially turn black remain consistent in their behaviour upon return visits.

    Thank you for your reply.
I followed the instructions implicitly and could find nothing amiss. I followed the directions at "https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Images or animations do not show" and disabled the security software. RealPlayer is not installed.
The problem images remain blacked out.
The issue also occurs with certain images I personally upload to Facebook.
