Co-existance mode with OpenSSO and Federation

This is just a general question. I have just upgraded to express build 8 of OpenSSO from my existing 7.1 legacy mode Access Manager. I am staying in legacy mode because of my Communications Express mail client and am waiting until I upgrade to convergence before I make the full switch to OpenSSO realm mode.
The question is: do I lose anything in the federation models in my co-existing world? Does all the SAML 2.0 and the new shibbleth stuff work in co-existance mode or do I need to de-couple my Communications Express?
thanks

Only Oracle 8 supports multiple homes.
I would ask why did you put the Developer 1.5 and 2.1 under

under the same Oracle Home with no co-existence problems.

    Thanks

The Apple genius at the Apple store told me this would work. It failed. Basically, updating your iPhone 3GS to iOS5 wipes your 3GS of its data so you can't really do this. Some data worked. Music, photos etc didn't work at all.
I suggest avoiding iCloud completely for a few weeks until Apple gets it working.

  • Slow file browsing in MED-V / XP Mode with NAT and DFS

Note, for the purposes of this question, this issue is with the Windows Virtual PC / XP Mode integration portion of MED-V so is not MED-V specific.
We are in the process of deploying hundreds of MED-V instances to Windows 7 PCs to support legacy applications until they are replaced with versions that are compatible with Windows 7.  Due to security concerns and our network infrastructure configuration,
we are required to use "Shared Networking (NAT)" mode for the Windows XP virtual machines.  Our network drives are mapped to DFS shares.  Depending on the site and drive mappings of a user, when opening or saving a file in an application,
it can take several minutes to browse to the target directory, even if it's not on a DFS share.  Occasionally, it takes so long that the RemoteApp window hangs and disappears, even though the application is still running in the Windows XP VM.
Running network traces in the VM, I can see that Windows XP tries to "ping" all of the DFS targets whenever the network drives are enumerated, such as when clicking on My Computer.  It waits for responses, then eventually times out.
From what I understand, this is the way that Windows XP determines which DFS target link is the fastest.  Unfortunately, since vpc.exe does not run with admin rights in Windows 7, ICMP (ping sends ICMP ECHO REQUESTS) is blocked by the NAT
between the VM and the Windows 7 host.  (This is why you cannot ping other PCs on the network from within the Windows XP VM when using NAT.)  Therefore, the long wait times happen while XP waits for the replies that never come.
To verify that this is indeed the problem, I started vpc.exe with admin rights, then started the MED-V Workspace.  I could ping other computers now from within XP and browsing took seconds instead of minutes.  However, our users will not have admin
rights in Windows 7 so this is not an option for them.  I also tested in bridged mode instead of Shared Networking mode with the same positive results.  However, this is also not an option in our environment.
Any solutions or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,
    Victor S.

  • Open mode (monitor mode) with ise and catalyst switches

    Hi There,
Anyone know if the following observation is correct ?
From the TrustSec 2.1 "Monitor Mode" guide i get the idea that Open mode, is not really as zero impact in a data gathering part of an ISE deployment is a was expecting. The guide describes using Profiling to authorize Cisco IP phones for the Voice VLAN.
    - Does this mean that regular methods like using CDP won't work to for this once i enable dot1x on an access switch port interface ?
    - And that i will need to figure out which ports should be set for multi-domain (phone+pc), and which should be set for multi-auth(possibly multiple devices on one port) during the open mode period ?
    Regards
    Jan

    Hello Jan-
Below is my input to your questions:
From the TrustSec 2.1 "Monitor Mode" guide i get the idea that Open mode, is not really as zero impact in a data gathering part of an ISE deployment is a was expecting.
Yes, a device is still allowed on the network even if it fails all authentication methods (MAB, 802.1x, etc). Basically you use monitor mode to perform discovery and see what would have been blocked had ISE been deployed in production.
The guide describes using Profiling to authorize Cisco IP phones for the Voice VLAN.
Yes, you can use profiling to do this. Keep in mind that you will need advanced licensing for this. Otherwise, you can either use MAB with static MACs imported/entered in the local database or EAP-TLS with phone certificates
    - Does this mean that regular methods like using CDP won't work to for this once i enable dot1x on an access switch port interface ?
CDP will still work, in fact some of the profiling happens thanks to CDP, however, the device will simply not going to be allowed to get on the network and the Voice VLAN unless it passes authentication/authorization.
    - And that i will need to figure out which ports should be set for multi-domain (phone+pc), and which should be set for multi-auth(possibly multiple devices on one port) during the open mode period ?
This really depends on how secure you want your network to be
    Hope this helps!
    Thank you for rating!

    Hi D’pak,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you are receiving error 21 when attempting to restore your device in recovery mode. The following resource provides troubleshooting information for this error message:
Get help with iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support

  • Cannot bridge mode with netgear and tg799 on nbn

I am on fixed wireless nbn so there are no uni v ports on the nbn ntd i have a netgear r7000 that i'd like to use as a an access point and router im happy to use a tg799vac in bridge mode to get dial tone but it is unable to authenticate via ppoe when i set it up in bridge mode the netgear r7000 authenticates using ipoe through the tg799vac and i am unable to get dial tone has anybody had any experience with this problem?

    Hi JimmyWish,
The way NBN works is that the modem doesn't need to authenticate to get you connected.  If you plug a PC directly into the Wireless NTD's activated Uni-D port you will be able to surf the internet.  The TG799  modem is provided to allow a wireless LAN connection and provide you with a voice service.
The set up you are explaining is not supported by BigPond technical support, however I could advise that you connect the TG799  directly to the NTD, place it into bridge mode and then connect your Netgear r7000.  See how that goes.

  • Best Airport Extreme Wireless Radio Mode with Old and New Macs and PC

I'm running Airport Utility 5.3.2 and am running / connecting to the Internet with a new Airport Extreme 802.11n Gigabit Ethernet (the new squared off one) with "Version 7.3.2".
In addition to my new MacBook Black (which has 802.11n, I have two other older Maxs that run 802.11b/g (and also a PC that has 802.11.b/g/n).
Currently, the Airport Extreme's "Wireless" "Radio Mode" is set to
    802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)
But, reviewing the Radio Mode menu, I see there are a number of choices that seem "faster" - 802.11n only (2.4 GHz), 802.11n (802.11a compatible) and 802.11n only (5 GHz).
Can I set the Radio Mode to any of these other settings and still have my older Macs (and the PC) connect to the internet using this Airport Extreme? Or, do I have to leave my Airport Extreme Radio Mode set to what appears to be a slower speed 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible) setting to allow others to use this Airport Extreme Base Station?
FWIW, I do have an older Airport 802.11g version 5.7 still connected and set up and the older computers can / could connect through that. However, I was hoping to give that one to a friend for their use elesewhere and wanted to have only one Airport Extreme set up at my house.

    "you'll use N+B/G at 2.4 GHZ."
I guess you means that I should continue with my current setting on the Airport Extreme - which is "802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)" - if I want all my computers to access the web via the Extreme. Correct?
I'm too much of a novice to try a "bridge" mode setup.
However, your suggestion (I think) "It would be more reliable and faster speed if you could connect both routers to using ethernet" does give me hope.
My Verizon Fios modem is actually a router. Indeed, I have my TiVo box connected to the Fios modem/router.
If I connect BOTH of my Airport Base Stations to the Fios modem/router and then do the following:
    (1) set the newer "Extreme" Base Station to "802.11n only (5 GHz)" and
    (2) keep the older Base Station (running 802.11g) as is
then my (and others') newer computer(s) with 802.11n can connect at high speed via the Extreme and older computers can still connect using the older Base Station.
    Correct?

  • Mods: Re Creative and conflicting statemen

I'm an extremely annoyed X-Fi Fatality owner on Vista Ultimate 32bit.On XP this was a good, if not great, card, with good performance and features. It was used extensi'vely for recording and processing in Ableton Li've and Sonar, using the front panel MIDI and audio and SPDIF inputs. After an upgrade to Vista, I find that Creative themselves are releasing contradictory, and inaccurate, information to justify the very late [currently non-existent] arrival for a set of working software, comparable to that of XP, just as promised in a sticky, on this forum. The claims regarding drivers made by Mods on this forum in posts both general and sticky are often contradictory, and disingenuous.eg:?MS changed the architecture of Vista Audio really late, so we had no time to prepare. This is patently not true. Catherine herself links to a post from an MS employee?regarding the audio stack architecture, the structure for which was finalised and released to Devs in September 2005, the actual announcement date was September 5th 2005. That's quite a long time ago, hey Creative?Or:?Drivers will be released shortly, the delay is for WHQL certification. [This post after Dell got a fuller feature set than was available to us mere mortals]. This is also not true. The standard processing time for WHQL certification is 2-7 days maximum. This is providing?the developer submits their WHQL test logs themselves, and does not requires Microsoft to run the tests. Microsoft WHQL testing takes 7 days. This gives a maximum time of 4 days for complete WHQL certification. Do Creative do their own WHQL testing or is it farmed out?Why do Dell matter more than we do?Why don't we just get an honest answer?Even 'I don't know', is better than some excuses which hold no water. PS I've downloaded the .torrent and am seeding as we speak, just to save anyone else paying a shafting and handwringing fee, for software we were promised in a sticky, by a mod on this forum. Outrageous Creative.

Cat: I just want to clarify that the information is not written by mods, it comes from the relevant groups within Creative, the ones that deal with these issues directly. I am aware the information does not come directly from the mods, that's why I never intimated that it did.Maybe these 'groups within Creative' that are supposedly dealing with these issues need to communicate a little more, mmmkay?I am also aware that the situation is a little [but not much] more complex than I made out for driver creation, although only Creative seems to have had such serious delays. The fact remains that every other manufacturer of souncards that I am aware of has had working WHQL drivers available far far sooner, and didn't try and shaft their existing customers with FUD, and fob off Duke Nukem 4 type 'ready when they're ready so you'll just have to wait you proles', type responses to requests for information. Also no other manufacturer I am aware of has tried to charge a fee of any kind for further support under Vista. This may be understandable for extra features such as WaveRT drivers, but for a broken and reduced feature set? That bites the big red one, spins around, and spits it out. An honest 'we don't know, we're working on it' would go a long way here. If you are aware of another manufacturer with a feature set as woeful and incomplete as yours is, after this time, please tell us who. Even my M-Audio and MOTU kit [some of which is fairly specialist] works under Vista, and Sonar 6 now comes with WaveRT support?Cat: The software was mentioned in the sticky, and the shipping/handling/processing fee was also mentioned (that is the only cost), it wasn't hidden. Yes I know that, that was not at dispute, I never said it wasn't mentioned. Jeez, it's just pathological. Immediate gainsaying of anything without even reading what's said. My point is that you still haven't got a driver that supports the same feature set as XP, as promised in a sticky, or even one that is stable enough for general day to day use. Instead we get charged a fee; for a driver with less features, poor performance, limited availability and an associated cost. I'm upset because I LOVED my X-Fi card under XP, and I really enjoy using Vista. Your card?and software under Vista, however, blows monkey chunks. So a card I LOVED using is now a broken pile of tat, and you [Creative] don't appear?give a toss, still advertising this card as Vista Ready. Yep it's Vista ready alright, providing you pay extra cash for some semi-featured, semi-working bloatware.
Imagine someone took your favourite [insert feminine thing here [shoes, soft cushions, kittens]], broke it, mended it with spit and string and gave it back. "Here you go, it's as good as it's ever going to be now, enjoy."?Getting the picture yet?Thousand of people saying the same thing sinking in yet?

  • Issues with using 6.0Gb/s drive with W520 and Windows 7

I ordered 2 ThinkPad 500GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0GB/s 7mm 4K hard drives and was instead shipped 2 6.0GB/s drives. Even though the outside of the box has the correct configuration that I ordered. I installed the drive in the W520 and tried to run my company's OS installation script. This script encrypts the hard drive then does the installation of the OS, apps, Windows 7 drivers, updates SP1, etc. I got the BSOD several times during the installation, It took two times before I got the completed install. When I login I get BSOD plus many apati errors and the system hangs all kinds of ways. It's usually the display that goes back to an empty wallpaper but the mouse works and there are no icons on the desktop. I can startup and go into safe mode with networking and never have a problem. I called Lenovo Tech support and they say there are no special drivers needed for the 6.0GB/s type of drive and encryption does not matter. I have gone through Device Manager and ran the update driver option on all ATAPI controllers, disk drivers, Bus Host Controllers, chipset, etc. There are no errors in Device Manager. My thought is the 6.0GB/s is causing some conflict with something, perhaps refresh rate, disk read/writes, page file, I/O, memory, etc. Just don't know. Have searched the web and do not get much help. There is some talk about cables for 6.0GB/s but not much info.
    Any ideas? Thank you all.

I too have a W520. I have a SATA III hard drive in my primary bay - no problems. I have booted off a SATA III SSD in the Ultrabay, also no problem. I don't believe your troubles are SATA III related.

  • How to create a table from an existing table with new column

    Hi !
    Please help me.
I want to create a table from an existing table with data and add two new column to the new table.
    What will be the syntax?

craete table new_table as select a.*, 'somevalue' new_col1, 'somevalue'
new_col2 from old_table a;Also there is a pitfall - newly created table will accept column type and precision from the select statement, so further you can be needed to modify columns
if you want to have VARCHAR2 instead of CHAR for example:
    SQL> create table new_dept as select dept.*, 'New data' new_col from dept;
    Table created.
    SQL> desc new_dept
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    DEPTNO                                             NUMBER(2)
    DNAME                                              VARCHAR2(14)
    LOC                                                VARCHAR2(13)
    NEW_COL                                            CHAR(8)
    SQL> alter table new_dept modify (new_col varchar2(8));
    Table altered.
    SQL> desc new_dept
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    DEPTNO                                             NUMBER(2)
    DNAME                                              VARCHAR2(14)
    LOC                                                VARCHAR2(13)
    NEW_COL                                            VARCHAR2(8)Rgds.
Didn't see michael's post - it reflects the fix for this problem using CAST.

  • Cannot boot into Safe Mode with Networking - Windows 8.1 Update

I'm trying to boot into safe mode with networking. I can successfully boot into Safe Mode, but my Network Access is always disabled.
I've tried msconfig / Click on Restart / Restart Now from the Update and Recovery menu in 'Change PC Settings'. They all eventually get me to the Same boot options menu which says ... F4 for Safe mode, F5 for Safe mode with Networking etc..  I
select the F5 Safe mode with Networking and it re-boots into Safe mode but I have no network access.
I'm connecting to my home ADSL, no proxy required. If I boot normally I have network & internet access, but in 'F5 Safe mode with Networking' my networking is disabled.
    Windows 8.1 Pro x64

I can see that I am actually connected to my router, but the network icon still shows as disconnected.
What about the Network list via the Settings charm (Win-I)?  Last week I was having problems with that one after long sleeps.  Later I realized that although I could see the icon in the Settings charm (as normal) when I clicked on it, it still
showed the same icon as I was expecting; the difference is that it didn't show "Connected"; so, clicking on the icon proved that it was offering a Connect button and clicking that finally got me connected.  Meanwhile the troubleshooters were misleading
at best and destructive at worst, suggesting I power things off, etc.  I don't know if there was a fix for this specific symptom or whether I just tried a different path but yesterday instead of trying the above procedure I tried to see what the Network
troubleshooter associated with IE's "unable to connect" page would do; amazingly it identified the problem precisely.  That connection had somehow acquired a connect manually attribute.  The troubleshooter offered to fix that problem for me
and I accepted.  Since then, no more problem.

  • PS CS6, Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar, Zoom, Brush, Auto Pan

There seems to be a functionality that was lost (or I can't find it) in CS6 that was in earlier versions.  When I am In Full Screen Mode with Menu and the image I am editing is zoomed in, I used to be able to shift+click my brush to extend a line.  That line would automatically reposition the image when I got to the edge of the screen.  Does anyone know if that functionality is gone or do I need to turn "something on”?
    1. I open a file

There's your problem. Simply, as you are discovering, iPhoto cannot have the Library on a network and the Library must be on a drive formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
So, on your local HD or on an external HD attached directly to your Mac by USB, Firewrire, Thunderbolt, and
    formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
