CO PC  -  Cost Split / Price Calculation

Hi.
When i do the Actual Price Calculation of my activites, i have a problem:
We post to the Cost Center, some "cost elements" that are not included in any "Spliting structure" tcode OKES.
When we do the Actual Price calculation, this cost elements are considered in the calculation of the price of my activities. Exist any customizing to avoid this.
This is an example:
Cost Elements: CE01, CE02, CE03.
Activity ACT001
CE01 and CE02 are asigned to a Split Sturcture with ACT001, but CE03 is "free".
In my cost center, we "DEBIT" :
CE01  ---  100 usd
CE02  ---  100 usd
CE03  ---  100 usd
and we post 50 hours to the cost center.
In actual price calculation, the hour must cost (100 + 100) / 50 = 4... but the system calc ( 100 + 100 + 100) / 50 =  6 usd / hr

The problem was the Weight in the rule, ans the equivalente number in tcode KP26...

  • Cost splitting and Actual price calculation

    Dear all,
What is the difference between cost splitting and actual price calculation?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ar

    Hi,
KSS2 (splitting) is fixed cost splitting based on defined splitting rules. Fix cost splitting means, although the cost are activity unindependent (=FIX) they are splitted to each actual activity unit,... (based on the splitting rule you use)
This is/can be a prerequisite for calculating actual activity rates, which is done by KSII (actual price calculation).

  • Plan cost splitting is as per average basis instead of capacity base

    Dear Experts:
I have planned the activity independent cost in cost center : CCTRA
I do have two activities named: ACT1 and ACT2
I have done the activity capacity planning in KP26
Created the splitting structure and assigned the cost center.
Splitting rule taken as 23- capacity based splitting
    When I perform KSS4,
System split the fixed cost equally instead of capacity planned in KP26.
    My Settings:  In KP26:
I have maintained the planned activity quantity in capacity tab
Distribution Key - 2 (Distribution as before)
Plan Price Indicator - 2 (Plan price, automatically based on capacity)
In KL01: Under Allocation default values tab:
    Activity type category - 1
    Price indicator - 2
Check box for plan quantity set
In KL01: Under variances for actual allocation:
Actl Acty Type Cat. - Blank (As in planning)
Act. price indicato - 6 (Actual price, automatically based on capacity)
    OKEQ Settings: Price calculation tab:
    Plan Method: Average price
    Tried Period price also.
I need to split the cost as per capacity planning.
    Please guide me.
    Thanks
    Surya

    Hi Makrand,
Point No.1: When you say that the system is not considering the values you planned in KP06 but considering the values which have come by Distribution, system is behaving correctly.
Because, when you do the planning in KP06 for certain cost elements, you are doing it against certain activity type. So, for the cost elements which you planned in KP06, splitting structure is not applicable.
Splitting structure will be applicable for the expenses which have come through distribution only.
Point No.2: When you say that for the cost elements which you have not mentioned in splitting structure are also being considered in the same way as those of mentioned in splitting structure, i would suggest you to check the cost element group.
If not, pls give the rule "equal distribution among the activity types" for those cost elements which dont need to be absorbed based on activity quantity.
I hope this will work out...

  • Actual price calculation

    Hi Experts,
    We have this scenario:
    1. Activity prices are entered manually in KP26.(Activity type indicator=5)
    2. At the time of CO11N only POWER activity will confirm.
    3. Executing CPTA for overhead allocation.
    4. KSS2 for power activity
    5. No splitting for other cost elements
    6. KSII Actual price calculation
    7. MFN1 Revaluation of order
After revaluatin of order when i am checking actul cost for activities only power cost is coming.
Please find the enclosed print screens for same above process.
Please guide me how to get the actual price calculation for other activities.
    KP26 :
    KSS2:
    KSII:
    CO03:
    Regards,
    Vivaan

    Hi Rajneesh,
Yes Splitting rule is Activity only.
    Ex.
    1.Order Quantity = 1000
    2. I confirmed yeild 500 Qty & power activity 200 in CO11N.
    3. Now when i execute  CPTA for that order its calculating like below.
    4. KSS2:
    KSII:
Now actual price is coming same for other activities except power.
If i maintain no split structure that time in KSII only power actual price coming as print screens posted in original query posted.
Please advise me on Actuall price calculation as per our business scenario.
    Regards,
    Vivaan
Now my client is asking is as below
    Cost center report  xxxxxx
    Water GL cost = 60000
Water Qautnity=1000(This is PO Total order quantity)
    Water actual price=60000/1000 =60
    Confirmed Quantity= 500
Actual price  calculation for water = 500*60=30000
    same for other activities also.
    Please advise.

  • Actual Price Calculation (KSII)

    hi,
I am not able to get the actual prices for my production order.
I maintained certain settings for actual price calculation in OKEQ.
Does it is mandatory to run the MFN1 (Revaluation of actual prices) before the KSII.
    Srinivas

    Hi Sateesh,
Please find below the process for calculation of Actual Activity Prices:
    1. Define Splitting structure, rules (method). I am sure you would have done this
    2. Assign the splitting structure to Cost Centers. I hope you would be done this as well
    3. Actual values (Costs and quantitative details) will get collected to cost centers in the following way:
         - Quantities will get collected to Cost Centers once the confirmation of activities are done for the        production order.  Please make sure that "Record Quantity" check box is selected for the relevant secondary cost elements.
         - Values will get collected from FI to the primary cost elements
you may check whether the values have been properly collected to the cost center using the cost center reports
    4. Execute cost Split using - KSS2
    5. Then calculate Actual activity unit price - KSII
    6. Once the prices are successfully calculated, you can check the prices in KP26
    7. after this process is completed then you can revaluate you production orders using the actual activity prices
I hope i made is clear.
Let me know if you need further details in this regard

  • Actual Activity Price Calculation

    Dear Gurus,
    1. I have defined activity type say "Power" through KL01
    2. Maintained the planned price through KP26 for the cost center which is going to use this activity type. say
        cost center is "CCTR1"
    3. Now there is something as actual activity price calculation at period end
    4. When i execute through KSII i get the actual price which is the debited cost elements of the "CCTR1"
divided by the Activity Type "Power"
    5. The debit balance of cost elements in "CCTR1"  is Rs 10000 and activity type consumed through process
order is 200 KWH, hence the Actual price comes to Rs 50 Rs/KWH. While the planned price in KP26 is
        Rs 6/KWH
    How logical is this....
    With Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
Let me give some insight into the Activity price calculation and cost obsorption from Cost Center to Prodcution
    1. Normally we incur the production cost through FI like Direct Labor, Power, Indirect Labour and other indirectct production overheads
    2. This cost is posted to Production Cost Centers
    3. Now this cost need to be obsorbed to product cost using either Activity costing through Routing or Overhead costing using costing sheet.
Since you question is for Activity costing, let us focus only on activity price and absorption to Product Cost
    1. All the direct cost that can be tracked with certain reasonability with activity types can be absorbed through activity costing to product costing
    2. Now in your case, take for example - the industry you are working is power intensive, then we can track the consumption of Power using activity costing
    3. At the first instance, you need to forcast the activity quantities for the month (based on the production planning)
    4. Based on this, you forecast the cost that would be incurred for the expected output
    5. Calculate planned Acvitiy Unit price and update it in KP26. The updation can be manual or automatic (using Cost Splitting and Price Calculation in case of Activity independant cost planning)
    6. For all the activity confirations to the production/process order, the cost obsorption will take place based on the planned price
    Actual
    7. The cost of the power will be booked in FI and posted to Production Cost Center for the month.
    8. The actual Activity quantity will be booked from Production confirmation for the month
    9. At the end of the month, you need to do the actual price calculation.  This calculation will be based on the TOTAL COST BOOKED FOR THE MONTH TOWARDS POWER FOR THAT COST CENTER DEVIDED BY TOTAL QUANTITY CONSUMPTION RECORDED IN THE COST CENTER
    10. Once this is done, You can revaluate the activity quanitities booked on each of the production order.
This is how the activity cost aborption will take place in product costing
Please let me know if you need further details in this regard

  • KSS2 KSII  Actual activity price calculation

    Dear Grus !
I want to carry out actual activity price calculation.    I assigned activity type act 100 to act500 to different cost element, and also assigned splitting rule 12.
also entered activity plan price in KP26. cost element planning in KP06.
When I carry out KSS2, system distribute cost of one cost element to activity types according to the target cost maintained in KP06.   I want the result that cost distributed as maintained in the splitting rule.
is there any specific configuration that i missed?
    Thank you all ~
    Lynn

Check whether you have maintained the Equivalence number for the activity type and cost center combination in KP26.
Also you have to run the KSPI before running KSII, because KSII result is the iterative one.
    Hope this will help you.

  • KSII (Actual Price Calculation)

    Gurus
When I execute the said KSII; result for activity prices is as follows:
ACTIVITY TYPE 1 = ACTUAL COST/ACTUAL HRS = RESULT OK
ACTIVITY TYPE 2 = ACTUAL COST/ACTUAL HRS = RESULT OK
ACTIVITY TYPE 3 = RESULT WRONG
ACTIVITY TYPE 4 = NO RESULT
Same rule is assigned to all activity types in Cost Splitting Structure.
Actual activity quantity is also posted for each activity, I am confused why not system's behaviour is same for all activity types price calculation.
    Thanks
    bukhari

    Hi,
Just check if you have done the Cost Element planning for the correct Cost Element & Cost Centre combination as defined in the Splitting structure and further the Splitting rule is based on the Activity quantity.(KP26)
Also ensure that you have planned for the Activity quantity for the same cost centres for which you have planned the costs. (KP06)
    Award points if useful.

  • KSII, Can FI postings flow into Controlling actual cost splitting.

Can FI postings flow into Controlling actual cost splitting and actual price calculation. I am trying post FI documents(FB50,FB60,FB01) with cost elements, activity type, quantity and cost center combination. I am able to post a document and then I do all the KSS2, in KSII is not able to show me that posting. I need to know, is it possible to move from FI to CO in tcode KSII , if yes let me know i am missing something. and i am getting an error message
    Message no. KP250
    Diagnosis
The plan or actual activity for cost center , activity type  is 0. However, costs were planned or posted in period(s) 2.

    Hi,
As you know, the system splits all activity-independent costs to the activities according to the following three step logic:
    -split based on target costs
-if not possible split by splitting structure
-in the last step if the above two were not possible split by equivalence numbers set in transaction KP26
In your case, if there is no actual quantity for the cost center, then the system will split by equivalence number. Therefore please make sure, that the cost center has actual quantity.
Further information is also provided in note 772794.

  • Wrong actual price calculation

    Dear Sap Experts
I'm running KSS2 to split costs into cost centers and getting a value of $ 12.461,66.
Volume of activities is 83,94, according S_ALR_87013611 and KSII.
Thing is that actual activity price given by the system is $ 151,56 and not $ 148,46 instead.
Some idea you could provide in order to investigate it?
    Tks a lot, cheers
    Patricia

    Hi Sateesh,
Pls go through the following example to understand Plan Activity Price and Actual Activity Price:
For Cost Center A, you do Cost Element Planning in KP06 (Ex. Rs.1,00,000). In KP26, you do the planned Activity Quantity (100 Hrs) - you will not update any price in KP26 screen usually . Now, to calculate the Planned Activity Price, you use the transaction code KSPI. The gives the result of Planned Activity Price of Rs.1000 per Hr.
Now, when you confirm the activities in Production Order in CO11n, the activity cost on the Production Order is updated with the Planned Price of Rs.1000. So, by the end of the period, if total actual hrs confirmed is 60 Hrs. ie., total cost loaded onto Production Orders is Rs.60,000.
Now, think of the actual cost that is booked to the Cost Center A (either through FI postings or distribution / assessment from other cost centers). If the actual cost that was posted to that cost center is only Rs.84,000. (Where as Planned Cost was Rs.1,00,000).
Now, when you run KSII transaction code for actual activity price calculation, the system will calculate the actual activity price by 84,000 / 60 Hrs =1,333.33.
This is the way how the system clearly shows and takes care of Under-Absorption / Over-Absorption in cost centers.
Then you run the transaction code MFN1 / CON2 to revaluate your Production Orders with the Actual Price of Activity.
After alll these steps only, you need to settle the Production Orders.
If you settle Production Orders before revaluating with Actual Activity Price, then again there will be some loaded on to Production Orders, so, you have to do the settlement again.
    Hope my explanation is clear...
    cheers....

  • Actual cost splitting - secondary cost element

    Hi All,
My knowledge on actual cost splitting for cost centers are limited.
Basically i am trying to use actual activity price calculation. In my splitting structure i have two different cost element group for two activities and i am using splitting rule 30 i.e., activity quantity. The system does the splitting perfectly based on the cost elements groups specified in splitting structure, but i am facing a strange problem. i have also allocated costs from different cost center to the prod cost center used for price calculation through assessment. But i havent used the secondary cost element in none of the cost element group for activities, but still the system is taking the cost of the allocated costs in secordary cost elements and allocates to both the activities in 50:50, which i am able to see in splitting showing as "division of activity-independed actual costs".
Can anybody please let me know, is this the way it works or something has gone wrong.
    Thanks
    With Best Regards,

".....the actual costs are distributed on the activity types according to splitting rules. If you have not defined any splitting rules for a cost center, the R/3 System splits actual costs based on the <b>equivalence numbers</b> for the activity types. "
Your case could construed to be a missing splitting rule, because the cost element group is missing the secondary cost element within the splitting structure. As a result, the system may use the equivalence number of the activity types and distribute.
Check the <b>equivalence number</b> of your two activities, it  may be 1 and 1 for both activities; hence those costs getting divided equally.  I suspect nothing has gone wrong.

  • CALCULATION OF ACTUAL PRICE CALCULATION  - KSII

    Dear Friends,
We are using Make to Order scenario and NOT USING Sales order based costing, I would like to calculate Automatic activity price calculation and revaluate my production order with actual prices (MFN1), for this I need to create & assign splitting rules to cost centers & follow the t.codes KSS2, KSII, KBK7 (DISPLAY) and finally MFN1.
For Calculation of KSS2, how Plan Quantity has to be decided, this because for calculating Operating rate system take the formula as below, whether the below formula is correct?
Actual quantity/ Planned quantity * variable price
If for a cost center, postings are happened in FI for 10000/- then how system calculate & segregate this?
if possible with an small example, when checked in KSS2 it shows the amount of postings from FI with cost elements.
But when we checked t.code KSII it was showing the some different Actual Activity and variable price. How system takes the Actual activity and Variable Price and is there any report to check this?
    please guide me

    Hi Paolo,
You were exactly right that it was rounding off.
But still am not able to get the calculation working for me.
In Cost Center Report Actual/ Plan it shows
    Debit Assessment Cost Element 10000
    Credit Machine Hour 458.16-
    Credit labour Hour 124.96-
    over/under Absorption 9,416.88
    This are all actual cost.
When i run KSII the result is as below
Oty  Object                        Name                    AUn              Activity Qty Total Price     Price(Fixed) PUnit
    ATY MBX273/L1                Testing CCTR         H                 1.666         3,001.20         3,001.20      1
    ATY MBX273/M1                Testing CCTR         H                 1.666         3,001.20         3,001.20      1
I am not getting how this value  3,001.20  is calculating.
Kindly help me to under stand this

  • Actual Cost splitting

    Hi,
Before I do the actual price calculation, I need to do actual cost splitting via KSS2.
Suppose that I have 4 activity types for one prod cost center and the operating rates are as follows:
    Direct Labor - 2.64%
    Indirect Labor - 6.92%
    Factory Overhead - 2.43%
    Depreciation - 2.75%
Below are the plan fixed and variable costs for cost element Wages which I was able to follow based on manual calculations:
    Direct Labor: Fixed - 22,000; Variable - 113,000
    Indirect Labor: Fixed - 50,000; Variable - 0
CE Wages is not part of Factory Overhead and Depreciation activities
I did not use the plan cost splitting because when I uploaded the expenses, the fixed and variable portions have already been separated in the upload file.
Suppose that I made an FI posting for the cost element Wages for the same production cost center amounting to 120,000
The target costs as computed by the system and which I was able to follow also based on manual calcuations are:
    Direct Labor: Fixed - 22,000; Variable - 2,985.24
    Indirect Labor: Fixed - 50,000; Variable - 0
My problem is in the splitting portion.   Assuming there is no splitting structure, system is computing the ff: control costs for cost element Wages:
    Direct Labor: Fixed - 35,206.79; Variable - 4,777.78
    Indirect Labor: Fixed - 80,015.43; Variable - 0
For these computations, I am not able to follow the logic.  First I tried to compute based on the planned costs but it results to a very high variable cost.  Then I tried to compute based on the target costs, the resulting amounts are (following 2 splitting steps in SAP help):
    Direct Labor: Fixed - 38,830.56; Variable - 378.84
    Indirect Labor: Fixed = 66,830.56; Variable - 0
Thanks in advance for your advise.

    Thess

    hai,
    how you find the solution?
    can you please explain me.

  • Actual cost splitting error (Equivalence numbers)

    Hi
I am facing an error during actual cost splitting (KSS2) . The situation is working fine in the case of Plan cost splitting (KSS4)
I want to split costs in a cost centre based on equivalence numbers. But, i dont see any option of maintaining equivalence numbers for actual cost splititng. The option is available ONLY in KP26..
Hence, I have maintained equi no.s only in KP26. This gives me error in KSS2 Quoting some divergence error. The message reads that activity price calculation did not converge
It shows me a picture on screen which displays a loop between activity types. I am unable to understand it
Can any one guide me on this??
Any help wud be promptly rewarded
