I am trying to get inforamtion regarding , web information cockpits and dashboards.
I was not successful in finding a solution or documentation regarding this, please anyone send me information or related links which could help me.

No Demo Management Cockpits in IDES system

Dear expert,
we installed IDES system for BW/SEM. In Management Cockpit design, we can see manay installed demo measures in Measure Display. However, in Management Cockpit Display, we can't see any installed management cockpits but a blank list. Someone can tell me why there is no demo management cockpit installed?

The user is a manager so assigned the role SAP_MANAGER_MSS_NWBC_3 . The substitution actually exist and i see it on the main page as shown above but wheni click on the Substitution overview i get the error message.
I have followed the customising above and performed all steps but I still get the error.

Linking two cockpits

hi all,
Is it possible to link two cockpits ? If yes how can we do it ?
For example i am having one cockpit for Corporate and another cockpit for Business Unit. Now i want to link the two cockpits.

RRI could be an option (if filters/variables) have to be transfered or just call the template from the first one...

Offline Web cockpits and automatic printing

Hi,
I am currently developing Web cockpits for offline usage (precalculation and download scheduler, then publishing via an Intranet) in BW 3.5.
I'm looking for a method to create printable versions of the web pages (as for instance via pdf files) that could be made automatic (push-button like).
Does anyone have some experience/idea with this?

In General i created some classes which references SAP Standard classes. i registered these classes in the information Broadcasting. this makes them visible in broadcaster an gives you the possibility to select PDF as requested file format.
And also i created an external RFC-Server which will later convert the HTML Files or xls files to PDF.
When the setting is executed the broadcasting precalculates the template and overhands me the html-files together with the mimes. Then i sent these files to the external Server which will convert each htmlfile into a PDF. Afterwards the pdf's gets merged to one pdf.
When this is finished i receive a Binary string from the rfc-server which i route back to information broadcasting which sends the file as mail or put it into portal.
It is also possible to convert PDF on the fly this means you are navigating in a template. out of this template you can call a helpservice which will convert this template with its navigation state to pdf.

If you want to precalculate a Template you can do that by using the broadcaster or calling a report.

The motivation behind BI Admin Cockpit is Easy administration for complex Enterprise Data Warehouse. It supports the BI Administrator in various things like status tracking, performance optimization etc. It provides single point of entry with cockpits like Real-time monitors, Runtime Statistics and you can also monitor across the systems. There are drill-down to details to in monitors and even processing options are given. In this way the administration task will become easier and faster. Currently there are 3 main parts in BI Admin Cockpit:
1) Data load Satus
2) Data load Statistics
3) Query Runtime Statistics.

A dashboard will be more to do with requirements and customizing web templates. There are however some dashboards available under EP. As for BW you can create your own templates and have them precalculated if necessary depending on usage

if your are using the new Web Application Designer (WAD) you can build your cockpit using web items like charts and tables (just drag&drop) and work with html-tables, -iframes, etc.
all you may need is some html, xml and javascript knowledge.

Steps to follow to create WAD in WEB Template in 3.5 or 7.0 u2026u2026..
Go to All programs and select your web application designer
Select the button to create a new page in WAD
Select the chart and place in the layout
Next goto Data provider Target and select your query
Give your report name in the given data provider screen
Select your query in History/find/Favourites/Infoareas button
Select your query in this screen and click OPEN
Now we can see the data provider is assigned to the chart.
To edit the chart you have to right click on the chart
After right click on it we will find another screen where we can edit all the settings
In this screen we can find NEXT click button to change our settings
In this screen we can state the tasks (Title, units, values, range)
In this screen we can change our background /validity/color
In this screen we can add values to the chart
In this screen we can add validity/positions/order/axis types to the chart
In this screen we can change the global settings/and overview of the chart.
This screen shows that we have customized the chart successfully
After successful creation of the chart we have to save the chart
Save your chart in your favorites by giving the description and technical name in the given block.
Now execute your WAD by selecting the execute button

How to download data in Predefined excel template from WAD

Hi,
I want to download the data from WAD link to a pre defiend excel file. The excel file has all the info objects used in the Query and the placement of the colums is also as per WAD report.
Kindly suggest me if there is some way to achieve this requirement.

Can you have multiple dataproviders in a default web template?

I was working on some changes in our BW web applications to 'shut down' certain reports if we determined there was a particular data issue (e.g. maybe aggregates not available for a large cube, as an example). I have already accomplished this in our 'cockpits' by adding a hidden dropdown box that is fed from a query against a master data InfoObject -- basically a way of flagging whether a particular area should be 'down' or not. This has worked well for us.
My next goal was to extend this a little further and actually set up a way to designate that a particular cube should not be available. Then when someone kicks off a web report (could be off a menu or even a bookmarked report..), I would again make template changes to check to see if the cube used in the report is flagged. If so, then redirect the user to a message page instead of executing the query. This would help us during critical times to keep users out of a problem area.
Again, I can make this work well in many custom template situations we have. The problem I am now encountering is with the standard template itself (Note: I am referring to our copy of 0QUERY_TEMPLATE that is designated as the default).
I have added a second dataprovider to this std template that points to my query against the InfoObject data. This dataprovider is linked to the dropdown box that is hidden. The standard template already has dataprovider DP that is not qualified with a query name. If you execute a query from BEx and launch it to the web, it builds a URL and passes in QUERY=xxxxxxx and INFOCUBE=yyyyyy. Now because there are 2 dataproviders, this is essentially overlaying not only the DP info, but also my new 2nd dataprovider. So the added dropdown pointing to a particular characteristic in the query is no longer valid (it thinks it should be using the QUERY value now).
In cases where I can first control the URL that a user executes, I would do SET_DATA_PROVIDER_1, 2, etc... and pass in INFOCUBE_1, 2.., QUERY_1, 2,... -- this is not a problem. But how can I make the standard query-to-web functionality still work once a 2nd dataprovider has been added to a default template? I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks Heike... I was hoping that there might be some way I couldn't think of & still only use 1 template here. But as you suggested, I can put the CHANGE_TEMPLATE command in our existing 0QUERY_TEMPLATE copy and then make a new copy for it to branch to -- making sure that my new dataprovider gets filled in with its appropriate query/cube. This at least minimizes impact by not having to change everything we have that references our 0QUERY_TEMPLATE copy through menus, JavaScript, favorites, etc.
I am familiar with the 'flicker' effect when we have used the CHANGE_TEMPLATE in the past (bringing up 'Info' for a query in a new window while maintaining the state of the report in the existing window). In this case, since the report is being created in a new window, it really isn't noticeable at all unless you watch the browser status or the URL command. Thanks for the information...

Building a BI based dashboard in Visual Composer

Dear,
We are using the Visual Composer to build a KPI dashboard based on BW KPI's from multiple queries (NO SEM in the background !)
What we need is to place the keyfigures in the rows and the keyfigure value in the colums. In the colums we further also need an arrow that indicates the trend based on the keyfigure value (ascending, descending,...)
this is how it should look

(*) The trend is based on a calculated keyfigure that compares this month's values with previous month's values.
In Visual Composer I'm trying to fit this in a table. After playing around I found that I need to place my keyfigures (column A) in a structure in the Rows in the BW query. Afterwards I can use the "characteristic" Key Figures and place it in my column in the VC table together with the value and the trend.
However, now my real problem occurs. I want to link trend with an image but the image should not be based on a condition linked with the main keyfigure from my row A but on another calculated keyfigure that I do not want to show in my rows at all. I'm affraid this is not possible since I don't see an option.
If anyone has an idea, please share. This kind of VC cockpit apps you see quite often on slides and Xapp presentations but I'm affraid they were all created with SEM cockpits in the background so I hope to be proven wrong.

Id'try the following:
a) your trend-field is in your query, but unselected in the field list
b) build a formula on this unselected field which selects the image (from the Image Manager)

Want to count the number of rows of analysis item in WAD Template

HI all,
Detail Description:
In my WAD report, i have a Export to Excel Option. But I want when I click on this button, one pop up will come only if no of rows of the Analysis Item is Greater than 10,000 ask for Do you want to proceed or not.
Means 1st i want to count the no of rows in the Analysis Item, after that it will check, if the no of rows is greater that 10,000. then the pop up will come.
Question:
Does anyone know, "how to count the no of rows of the analysis Item ?" . It will be better if you know you to implement this with the help of java script.
Means there must be some varible, which counts the no of rows. If you know then please help me
