Code for website to allow users to download free Reader

This is not the right forum, but I couldn't find one that applies, sorry.
I'm adding some PDF files to my website for download, and I need to find the code that I can add to my website that will allow users to download the free Reader if they don't already have it. Can someone point me to that, please?
Thanks!

Found it:
http://www.adobe.com/misc/linking.html
(related question popped up over there   --->
which had the link.)
I see that it's actually just the image, and there's no code... you just hyperlink the image yourself. Long time ago there used to be some HTML code that came along, and did the link for you as a reference or something.  I'm set now... thanks.

  • Is there an app that allows you to download and read pdf files on your ipod touch?

Is there an app that allows you to download and read pdf file on your ipod touch (5G)?

There are many apps that allow reading PDFs. GoodReader allows downloading some items. It all depends upon how the site handles the download. It also uses file sharing in iTunes.
iBooks also reads and had file sharing.

  • Am I able to add items to my website that my users can download with Dreamweaver?

There are only two ways to process form data -
    1. Use mailto:[email protected] as the action of the form
    2. Use a server-side scripting method to a) harvest the
    form's data, b)
process it in some manner, e.g., enter it into a database, c)
    formulate and
send an email to one or more email recipients, and d)
    redirect the visitor
    to some ending page
Method 1 is quite simple, and is also the least reliable. It
    depends both
on your visitor having an email client already installed on
    their computer -
this eliminates public computers, or home users without email
    clients
installed (more and more it seems) - and on the installed
    email client
    responding to
the mailto call. It is not possible to use this method *and*
    send the
    visitor to a
    thank you page as well.
Method 2a is the preferred method, since it eliminates the
    problems of
    method
1, but it means that you have to grapple with
    server-scripting somehow (ASP,
    CF, PHP, perl, etc.).
Method 2b would be to use some third-party form processing,
    like
    http://www.bebosoft.com/products/formstogo/.
You would have to decide which of these methods is best for
    your needs,
but if it's Method 2a, then start by asking your host what
    they provide for
    form
processing. If it's 2b, then read their FAQ/instructions
    carefully.

  • Newly built website not allowing users to open pdfs in browser

We just got a new website. None of us who work here can open pdfs from our site in a browser (at least not automatically), even though we all open other sites' pdfs in a browser automatically. So we're thinking it's something wrong with our site, but the developer says he hasn't a clue. When we get the download box, we can open in a particular browser, but it opens from a saved temprorary file (not an actual link). Links are available by right clicking. We are all using Adobe 9.
    1. Adobe 9 preferences set to open pdfs in a browser? Yes
    2. Tried "Repair Adobe Reader."
    3. Also, the download box will not let us check "do this automatically from now on."
Can we know for certain that this problem originates with Adobe Reader? Or, is it possible the developer screwed something up?

Your post makes me think of MIME types. It is a setting on your web server that tells your browser how to deal with a certain type of file.
    Type/sub-type: application/pdf
    ext: pdf
Maybe this needs to be set? This is just a guess. Take a look at this link: http://www.w3schools.com/media/media_mimeref.asp

  • Air app for android NOT prompting user to download runtime

My app tested fine on a DROID ii but when I had a friend download the app on his DROID x the app showed an error when run. It did not prompt the user to download the runtime. Once we did download the runtime, the app worked fine.
I went through much agony renaming my package name to remove the "air." prefix for reasons that are not important here.  Could this cause a phone not to recognize that the air runtime is needed? I cannot find any documents that say that the prefix does more than help adobe keep track of air apps.
Here is my app in case it helps:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dktimertrial&feature=more_from_developer #?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEwMiwiY29tLmRrdGltZXJ0cmlhbCJd
    Thanks.

Have you heard of the expression, "Tampering with this product will void the warranty"?  :-)
There's no guarantee that the process you went through to remove the air. prefix didn't break the part of the app that automatically triggers the AIR runtime request. You're basically doing things that aren't supported, so I doubt you'd find an answer to that question from Adobe.
Personally, I would look at using the captive runtime feature of AIR 3.1+ and then you won't have to worry about the user needing to download the runtime separately. If it's really that important for you to remove the air. prefix, captive runtime should fix this problem.

  • PDF embed code for website

How do I upload a PDF and get an embedding code for a webpage?

I will guess you start by asking in a forum for the PDF program you use
This forum is actually about the Cloud, not about using individual programs
Once your program downloads and installs with no errors, you need the program forum
If you start at the Forums Index http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says ALL FORUMS) to open the drop down list and scroll

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash. Adobe is not providing Flash for Apple iOS devices, and they no longer provide Flash for any other cellular phones. Flash is officially gone.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
A sample of Apps that can display some Flash content:
      1. Puffin
      2. SkyFire
      3. Photon Flash
      4. Browse2Go
      5. Swifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • HT5622 Must I have cards for my payment if I only download free apps

I've signed up for an ID apple to use App store to download FREE APPS but the process require that I must have card to use. I just want to download free apps, why must I have cards for my payment?????? Such a waste of time!

    Use the None option.

  • For some reason my attempts to download free apps result in automatically opening a box that require payment info - what's wrong?? I cannot get beyond that point. when i close the box the app-icon also disappeares

i used to be able to smoothly download free apps. suddenly, also free apps open a box that require my payment info. a message tells me that i did not finish a purchase. i cannot reset the whole thing and i am also not aware of a purchase i attempted. what can i do?

Check to be sure that you don't have something that never totally downloaded - look in iTunes and in iBooks as well - not only in the app Store. A stalled or incomplete download in one of the stores can cause problems with downloads in the other stores.
You can try to reset your iTunes account by signing out of the account and then signing back in. Restart the iPad in between signing out and signing in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID-tap the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in.

  • Downloading Free Reader 10

In trying to download the free Reader 10, be it through my dongle or a direct internet line, I am getting "download timeout" between 40-60% of download. Does anyone have a suggestion? Is there such a thing as a free disk to download? Thanks.

  • Allow users to Download documents from server

    Hello Everybody,
I am working on an Flex application where I have to allow the
users to Open/Save documents such as Word document, Excel sheet,
PDFs, Jpeg, Media files (any digital format document) when a user
clicks on a link present in a Flex application. To do this I am
using the navigateToURL() method and simply passing the URL string
as a URLRequest to the navigateToURL method. This works fine but
whenenver the link is invoked and the user selects to Save the
Excel sheet or any document it displays an unwanted browser window
behind the Open/Save/Cancel dialog box saying action cancelled.
I can not use "_self" as I require the Flex application to
run as is. I tried using the javascript:window.open() but this did
    not work.
    1) Is there a process to stop the browser window from
    opening?
    2) How can we invoke a javascript using navigateToURL(), I
tried to invoke javascript.alert('Ok') and also
    javascript:window.open() both did not function.
    3) Is there any other method or flex classes etc. to invoke
external applications (allow to download documents from server)?
    Please help me.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Paromita

    Paromita,
You could use the file download functionality. This is from
    the docs:
You can let users download files from a server using the
FileReference.download() method, which takes two parameters:
request and defaultFileName. The first parameter is the URLRequest
object that contains the URL of the file to download. The second
parameter is optional--it lets you specify a default filename that
appears in the download file dialog box. If you omit the second
parameter, defaultFileName, the filename from the specified URL is
    used.
The following code downloads a file named index.xml from the
same directory as the SWF document:
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("index.xml");
    var fileRef:FileReference = new FileReference();
    fileRef.download(request);
To set the default name to currentnews.xml instead of
index.xml, specify the defaultFileName parameter, as the following
    snippet shows:
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("index.xml");
    var fileToDownload:FileReference = new FileReference();
    fileToDownload.download(request, "currentnews.xml");
I think this will accomplish what you are trying to do.
