Code page 850 or 437 in a JTextArea

Good afternoon!
How do I use cp850 or cp437 in a
JTextArea?
I wanna show the code
of a file in a JTextArea.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page_437

First of all thanks for your attention Kaj!
This is my simple code:
import java.io.*;
import javax.swing.*;
public class Acentos
public static void main(String[] args)
JFrame f = new JFrame();
f.setDefaultCloseOperation(javax.swing.WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
f.setSize(300, 300);
// ========= the doubt code is here ========
// I see the . But the first caractere is a square
// I wanna see a black face too
byte[] b1 = { (byte) 0x02, (byte) 0x80};
String b2 = "\u0002\u0080";
String myString = "";
try
myString = new String(b1, "CP850");
catch (UnsupportedEncodingException uee)
// do nothing
//myString = new String(b2);
JTextArea JText = new JTextArea( myString );
JText.setFont(new java.awt.Font("Monospaced", 1, 18));
// ========= End ========
f.getContentPane().add(JText);
f.setVisible(true);

  • ASCII to Code Page 850

    I have a String which i'm converting to Cp850 (Code Page 850) using the following line of code
    char[] hextoString = new String(toPrint.getBytes("Cp858"), "Cp858").toCharArray();
    Aftte converting i'm NOT getting the value as in my code page 850 chart.
    Characters mentioned in codepage 850 chart has the hex value starts from 20....to....ff. In between the hex values i have 8a,8b,8c....... but when i convert by using the above code i get the values till 7e correctly but after that its goes to c7. how can i get the values 8a,8b................9a,9b.......
    can anyone help me....

    You took the toPrint string and converted it to Cp858 (not Cp850), then you converted it back again. So I would expect the result to be pretty much what you started with. To convert the string to Cp850, do this:byte[] cp850 = toPrint.getBytes("Cp850");

  • Aargh!   Code Page 850

    I've just spent the past few hours crazily hacking and plowing through all sorts of documentation (some of which is out of date) and none of which tells me how to solve the seemingly simple problem I need to solve.
    Here's the deal. I have to process a whole bunch of stuff coming in which is known to be in the Code Page 850 format. Just getting it to unicode, I suppose, would be fine. Does anyone know of any good documenation or books that explain this mess or just some sample code that shows how to read data in an oddball format and make it straight.

    Uh, never mind. In writing my previous rant, I realized that the problem which I had thought ought to be simple, in fact was simple. It could be a little better documented though.
    Like the fact that if you want to use an encoding to read a file, you can't use a FileReader which does not support such, but instead must use
    in InputStreamReader on top of a FileInputStream. Why not just do it with a FileReader?
    Anyhow, all is well.

  • US English Code page - What is its correct value?

    'Lo All,
    Hope someone can throw some light!
    We're in the process of updating Win Server 2003 servers to Win 2012. This is being done by building completely new servers in a new Development server datacentre based in Hong Kong. Our existing servers are all UK based.
    I can set the server locale to US English or UK English. Using CHCP in a cmd window shows me the active page then gets set to either 437 (when US) or 850 when (UK).
    However, when running MSI to install some software I get an error 1208 English is not installed. This message appears if I set the locale to US or UK. I am setting the value for dos based programs as well as the admin locale.
    The MSI appears to be expecting to find code page 409 for US English and not 437. 409 is set as the default in the setup,ini file.
    US English is also at the top of the list for display languages.
    UK English is shown on the list but has "Language Pack not available against it.
    I've been trawling through the internet, but I've just ended up getting confused!
    Is this a fault with the setup process expecting to find 409, or is it an error in the way Windows Server is setting 437?
    Thanks in anticipation!
    (P.S. It's really irritating that there's no option to set UK English in here!)
     (P.P.S be gentle - its my first time - and I've no idea what I'm talking about!)

    Hi,
    Would you please post the error information in detail to help us to troubleshoot this issue?
    In my expression, a .msi file failed to install during the installation, please check the event log and find the relevant "error" or "failed".
    You can also try to install .msi with cmd msiexec, which will generate a log file for analysis:
    msiexec /i "C:\MyPackage\Example.msi" /L*V "C:\log\example.log"

  • SMB Code Page settings cannot be changed

    We have a OSX standalone server 10.5.4 that's running SMB service.
    Otherwise it runs ok, but I just cant change the Code Page -setting on advanced -tab of SMB settings. I can choose the desired code page from the list, but when I click "Save", the selection changes back to "Latin US (437)".
    That's really annoying because it makes some folders unaccessible for win clients. So is it a bug or am I just doing something wrong?

    Check the files /etc/smb.conf and /var/db/smb.conf (which is included by the /etc one) -- I found that when I used Server Admin to change the Code Page setting, it changed the "dos charset" setting in /var/db, but not the one in /etc, and I'm not sure how smbd interprets the conflict. If you have a similar conflict, you could try hand-editing /etc/smb.conf to either remove or "fix" the "dos charset" value.
    No promises, but that's what comes to mind...

    Hi,
    I have followed the below steps which did not cause any issue to my server. Have a full latest backup and then follow the below steps.
    Create a start up batch file that includes all the commands you want.
    Then edit the registry to point to your start up file.

  • Infopackage Idocs in status 2 - could not find code page for receiver system

    Hi,
    We just migrated our production system from BW 7.01 non unicode to BW 7.4 on HANA.
    We now encounter issues with idocs while loading data into bw from our ECC5 source. When we analyze idocs in the source system it appears with the message "could not find code page for receiver system"
    One weird thing is that the idoc seems to have been created before we started the infopackage in bw.. We controlled system time and AS time and everything seems ok.
    We did not encounter this issues on our previous migration test runs..
    Hope someone can help
    Christophe

    Hi,
    Thanks for responding. We finally found out what the problem was.
    We have two applications servers on our ECC with 2 different OS. One of them could not reach the new BW HANA server.

  • Open data set / code page

    Hello ,
    I am sending file to print server  and i am accounting problems with  special characters
    In first version of  program  ( please see the code below )
    "OPEN DATASET g_filename  FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT."
    The special characters l from German and French   alphabet were NOT printed properly  , and we had  some nonsense results . Other '"Normal "characters  like A , B... are printed without errors .
    To prevent this error i wrote new line of code for open data set ( below ).
    "OPEN DATASET g_filename FOR OUTPUT IN   LEGACY TEXT MODE CODE PAGE '4110'  IGNORING CONVERSION ERRORS."
    This was working only when FTP was NOT used  , when FTP was used i had  following short  dump.
    I am working in SAP release 6.0
    Please Advice
    SHORT DUMP Message :
    What happened?
        The conversion of texts in code page '4102' to code page '4110' is not
        supported here.
        The current ABAP program 'SAPLZPRN_AUTO_LBL' had to be interrupted because
         incorrect
        data would have been created by the conversion.
    Error analysis
        An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
        The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_CODEPAGE_CONVERTER_INIT', was
         not caught in
        procedure "Z_TRANSFER_FILE" "(FUNCTION)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
         clause.
        Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
        exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
        The reason for the exception is:
        Possibly, one of the codepages '4102' or '4110' - needed for the
        conversion - is unknown to the system. Another option is, that a Unicode
         codepage was specified for a file in LEGACY MODE, which is not allowed.
        Additional parameters for the codepage conversion (as , for example, the
         replacement character) might have invalid values. You can find further
        information under 'Inernal notes'.
        If the problem occurred at opening, reading, or writing of a file, then
        the file name was '/te/mm/labels/0488_20091208_051317_EC008119_01_001.dd'.
         (Further information about this file: " X ")

    Hi,
    Also check the character set supported by the Printer. Printer configuration should also be checked on SAP side to determine character set and code page using SPAD.

  • How to change the default code page in SAP?

    My colleague tries to download a report in Excel but she is having some problems with the output as each of the lines are all included in one cell. When I download the same report, my output is fine and the columns in the lines are properly aligned in various columns in Excel.
    I noticed that her code page is 4110 and mine is 1160.
    4110     Unicode UTF-8
    1160     Microsoft 1252, Superset of ISO 8859-1
    As a workaround, I just asked her to modify the code page to 1160 everytime she downloads a report. I want to know how this setting is derived.
    My questions are:
    1) Is there a way to set the default code page?
    2) Is this a problem with the SAP version? If she downloads another SAP GUI, will the issue be gone?
    Thanks!
    Joey

    1, You can change the codepage in SAPGUI: Select the system => Properties => Others
    2, Could be, best is to have the same and most up to date SAPGUI for all

    Hi,
    MDMP means Multi Display Multi Processing. See the note system for details. The problem of MDMP is that the different languages use different codepages and not all characteres can be displayed in every codepage.
    A solution would be a unicode conversion of the system. In unicode there is only one internal codepage, which contains all special characters of the individual languages. However the migration needs several hours of down time and unicode systems need more memory and disk space. I can't tell you a percentage for that. You need at least R/3 4.7 for unicode.
    In non-unicode system I believe you can't change the codepage inside a SAPscript document directly. I would have to end form processing an start a new form. To change the language you can try the ABAP-command SET LOCALE. Also see the language parameter in START_FORM.
    If that doesn't work I would try using RFC-Connections. Make RFC-Connections in your system which contain the system it self as target system, but with the desired language filled in. You do not need to provide a user or password, that would be taken form the logged on user.
    Inside your printing program you put the real printing into a function module. Your report then can call the function via RFC using a connection in the correct logon language.

    I have found four things that I always check when I run into this problem.  I have yet to find a time when one of these didn't work (specifically helps when reading data from flat files but I suppose most of the four would apply to any source).  Check out my blog post, content repeated below:
    1.  Make sure to properly configure the "Flat File Source".  When setting the connection properties to the flat file, take time to click on the advanced tab and ensure that the" Name", "DataType", and "OutputColumnWidth" properties are set properly.  I have found that if this is setup correctly when the initial connection is created, some if not all of the data type issues and errors can be alleviated.  The "Flat File Connection Manager Editor" can be accessed while initially creating the connection or by double clicking on a flat file connection within the "Connection Managers" for connections that have previously been created.
    2.  Depending on the order and steps that were used to create the connection to the flat file, sometimes the data types need to be updated in an additional area.  This can be found by right clicking on the "Flat File Source" and selecting "Show Advanced Editor...".  Once in the advanced editor, click on the "Input and Output Properties" tab.  Expand the "External Columns" folder.  For each field being loaded from the flat file there are some configurable properties.  Make sure that the "DataType" field is properly set for each field.
    3.  Something else that can be done if you are sure that the data type is set correctly in both of the two previously mentioned locations is to set the "Flat File Source" to essentially ignore those annoying truncation errors.  On the same "Input and Output Properties" tab, expand the "Output Columns" folder.  For those fields listed, there is a "TruncationRowDisposition" property.  By default this is set to "RD_FailComponent".  This can be switched to "RD_IgnoreFailure" in order to allow the data to successfully pass through the "Flat File Source" even if SSIS believes that truncation is going to occur.  Along with making this change, you can also check the "DataType" in the "Output Columns" as well.
    Caution: If you do set the "Flat File Source" to "RD_IgnoreFailure" as mentioned above, always take time to review the data loaded in the target table to ensure that the integrity of the data was not jeopardized.
    Note:  I have found that when the "DataType" for both the "External Columns" and "Output Columns" is manually updated that it does not remain the same when the advanced editor is reopened.  For this reason, try Steps 1 and 2 before setting the "Output Columns" manually.
    4.  The last thing to try, and this applies specifically to loading data from Excel files as opposed to text or CSV is to set the package to run in 32-bit mode.  Click on "Project" on the top menu and select "Data Imports Properties...".  Click on "Debugging" under the "Configuration Properties" and set the "Run64BitRuntime" to "False".
    Working with data from flat files can sometimes be difficult in SSIS.  By using one or many of the approaches I have listed above you should be able to create a repeatable process that is frequently needed within most SSIS packages.  Be very careful when setting data types within SSIS and make sure to do it upfront when necessary because it can be harder to debug later in the development process.  If the proper changes are made it should not be a surprise to feel a big SSIS developer sense of relief when the screen shows all green.
    Let me know if this works!
