Code rewriting issues after all these years?

So every time I open this one file Dreamweaver literally
moves some of the code down 22 lines and reinserts it in the wrong
place. I have, and have had for years, all code rewriting options
turned off. I never noticed this happening on any other JSP files
for years. Does any one know why DW CS3 is doing this and how to
make it stop?
Code sample:
<!-- Deposit -->
<html:html>
<head>
When I open it in DW CS3 it takes the <html:html> line
and moves it down on the file about 22 lines so it looks like this:
<!-- Deposit -->
<head>
<META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"
http-equiv="Content-Type">
<title><tiles:getAsString name="title"
/></title>
<link href="<c:url
value="/common/assets/styles-platform.css"/>" type="text/css"
rel="stylesheet">
<tiles:insert attribute="scripts"/>
<tiles:insert attribute="meta"/>
<STYLE TYPE="text/css">
BODY
BACKGROUND-COLOR: #FFFFFF;
margin-left:30px;
margin-right:30px;
margin-top:0px;
padding:0px;
TD
font-size: 10pt;
font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
</STYLE>
<html:html>
Once again, I have triple checked my code rewriting
preferences so don't just direct me to the preferences menu. It's
turned off for every file type I ever worked with. I can open the
same file in UltraEdit and nothing like this happens.

Yes, even the last DW's releases still suffers from code
rewriting bugs.
Please report it to the dev team:

  • Why BIA is not stable after all these years? (old)

    Hi all,
    We purchased BIA (16GB blades) in 2006, implemented to our production in 2007 with Version 34.
    It was a success; the first month BIA was hit 18K times. Today we are seeing about 300K hit a month (we're using 32GB blades with version 49. ). I can assure you that it was(and is)not a plug and play appliance, we have experienced every single BIA error existed on earth. Don't get me wrong; when it works it's an awesome product, I believe in BIA and support it 150%, this is why i am here spending my time.
    3 weeks back, we upgraded BIA from Ver 48 to 49. After a week of quiet time, one of my blades went down for no appearent reason, that not only caused an outage for thousands of internal and external customers but wiped out the confidence that I have with the new version 49.
    Today, I am "once again" sending apology emails to my users, customers, my boss, CIO etc about the BIA outage. Forget about preventing this to happen in the first place, but I don't understand why it is so hard for you SAP guys to identify the query that crushed the blade(s). I assume your priority is making BIA fancier - such as working on back-up and recovery - instead of making it stable, or at least more monitorable
    It is very, very, very frustrating that after all these years that this tool is still not stable, in other words after all the feedback we gave to SAP, after all the times we spent together, we are back to the square one. Think about , would you be keep investigating to a car that keep stopping in the middle of rush hour traffic? So why should you pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a product that goes down every day?
    Anyways, let me know if you know a way to find out what particular query brings down BIA without leaving the trace on 24x7 for days.
    Cheers
    Tansu

    Tansu,
    if you go to Usage -> Acess Statistics in TREXAdmin (Python), not all the columns are populated by default (at least in our case)
    Like #unloads, #reads, waittime, #merges, # writes, #plans, input/output, # FEMS among others.
    To collect this data, you have to activate additional level of stats.
    Go to indexserver.ini for your masterblade. default is set to No. Change it to yes.
    [indexusagecollector]
    #active = no
    active = yes
    Unfortunately, there is no documentation available on what each of these values truly represent. So you are left on your own to interpret them as you like.
    A discussion in this forum on how you read these numbers would be helpful though.
    BIA Stability:
    To sum up: BIA has the notion "It rocks when it works" in our company.
    Some of biggest issues:
    1. There are queries failing that BI team doesn't know about unless users report to us. But users have stopped reporting BIA related failures to us because same query completes successfully after 5 mins (when the temporary memory goes down again). so our users just rerun the quey after sometime rather than reporting it to us. Bottomline -  BIA is NOT up 100%. we only know if a query has failed if we go thru the trace files.
    2. As Arun mentioned, we too have some queries that dont work at all with BIA due to huge dataset sent back to OLAP. Eventually we had to turn off BIA for those queries.
    3. It takes too long for back up to take over. In our case it took 75 mins before back up took over.
    we would rather prefer to set a threshold ourselves on when back up should kick in rather than waiting for active blade to go completely down. Unless its a hardware failure (chances of which are pretty slim), back up would always wait for active blade to go completely down. what if an acitve blade is in hung state?
    [Re: Automated Failover - can we force backup blade to take over?] discussed here
    4. We dont know which query brings BIA down. (that what we are tyring to figure out using the stats mentioned above.)
    4. Inverted Data model - we have some cubes which have master data tables bigger than fact tables.
    For some, BIA works. For others, aggregates are more effecient. we are still not able to figure out, whats the difference?
    [How to relate STEPUID/DMUID in RSDDSTAT_DM to STATUID in RSDDSTATTREXSERV; discussed here
    Lets see how Rev 50 addresses our issues.

  • Parental control log viewer - still broken after all these years

    I check this with every major OS X update. I know this has been a bug since 10.5, I think it goes back much further.
    First, some background.  In all versions of OS X there's a "logs" feature that allows an admin to see the sites a user has visited. It's the primary way for an involved parent to teach wise computer use. Set parental controls to 'automatic', let the user go, then review the logs with your favorite teen.
    Problem is, the log viewer only expands horizontally. So many entries can't be read. You see only the beginning of many site labels or URLs. The window control has been broken too -- it shows the normal resize control even though it only works in one direction.
    So Apple fixed it in 10.7
    Not the window mind you. They fixed the control. Now it shows the window can only resize vertically.
    Yes. The engineer was in the code. And they left the window broken but fixed the control.
    It's a conspiracy. Apple is trying to drive me crazy.
    I think it's working ...

    Thanks for your help!

  • Journey-After All These Years

    I can't find Journey's new song After All These Years on Itunes . . . Help.

    Just like any music store, updating isn't instant.
    It takes a while for new music to show up.
    Just be patient and it will eventually be in the store.

  • G5 1.6 still freezing after all these years

    Hi, I have this G5 1.6 for a long time and this is the issue:
    After all diagnostics and two times recovered in the official Mac repair service (who suggested new motherboard and/or processor) my computer:
    Freezes when I least expect and all I can say is that I might associate that with mouse usage which is not a Mighty one. it actually happens the same way with Mac and non-mac mouses. It seems to happen managing iTunes or iPhoto or scrolling images on Photoshop. Although not exclusively.
    It works ok and suddenly it stops/freezes and after the first freeze it happens more regularly.
    Thank you very much,
    António

    Have you tried another User out of interest?
    It could Be RAM related, I noticed that your machine has 1.25 GB of ram, I am susspect the 2 x 128MB chips, as they seem to fail quite a bit. or even a graphics card, since your problem is when your using iPhoto, Photo shop and itunes, Quite heavy on graphics.

  • ITunes continues to delete files after all these years!

    Hello...
    This topic has been posted before, as the problem is several years old already, but I thought I'd take another shot at it...
    iTunes Deletes Music Files From My Hard Drive.
    How do I know? Because music that I've listened to before, that I've loaded on my iPhone (and it still is on my iPhone), that's still in various playlists, will suddenly pop up with an exclamation mark. When I go looking on the HD, those music files are very much gone. And not a whole album will disappear...just a few tracks from an album. They had to have been there at one time, right? Or else I couldn't have loaded my iPhone with them. I couldn't have put them in playlists if they hadn't been there.
    And my Time Machine backup has the files...so they had to be there long enough to get backed up!
    I've seen this problem through multiple versions of iTunes. I've seen it through multiple hard drives, and multiple OS's. Started on Tiger. Now on Snow Leopard. Everything is as up to date as possible, and always was. Heck...my Mac's even gotten a new logic board (for unrelated issues).
    Admittedly, I have a large library. Larger than some, probably not as large as others. There's over 1800 artist folders in my iTunes Music folder, with many artist folders containing multiple albums. But that's how everyone's iTunes Music folder looks! I used to keep my iTunes Music folder on a separate hard drive. I don't do that anymore. I've rebuilt the library...I don't even know how many times. 3 or 4 at least.
    Its iTunes doing this. It always has been. And its not just me. But the problem is so random, and so lacking in rhyme or reason, that Apple can't recognize a problem. But trust me...the problem very much exists.
    Has anyone here gotten anything at all by way of a solution, or even a reason for this?
    Thanks!
    -Barry

    Its not easy to make such an error. There's not actually any mechanism in iTunes to delete the source file while not deleting the track entry in the Library list. So I'd actually have to be manually deleting them in order for it to be my fault.
    Moreover, I'm meticulous about my filing, and nothing else on my Mac disappears. I've got folders on my Desktop, a Documents folder full of stuff, Pics in iPhoto...all happily there for years now. Music files is all that disappears. That makes it pretty hard to imagine that it isn't iTunes at fault.

  • After All These Years, Outlook STILL Pops Up an "Enter Your Username" Dialog

    I used Outlook 2003 for 10 years.  It performed sufficiently, but had a few quirks.
    One of them was this:  Every now and then it would pop up a dialog, with fields already filled-in, showing the POP server and asking me to enter my username and password, even though the values in the fields were already
    correct. It just took clicking the [ OK ] button to get Outlook to continue normal operations.
    The real problem was this:  While the dialog was showing, all Outlook operations ground to a halt.  No more eMail server checks were done, no rules were executed, no calendars were consulted for appointments...  That
    one dialog just stopped Outlook in its tracks.
    To work around it I ended up writing a script that just runs in the background watching for the window to appear, then automatically presses the [ OK ] button when it does.  That kept things going while I wasn't in front of the
    screen.  But still, if it would pop up it would come out in front of what I was working on, it would sometimes absorb a few keystrokes.  That was irritating.
    Fast forward to December, 2013 (a couple of months ago).  I installed a fresh, clean copy of Windows 8.1 and found that Outlook 2003 is not really any longer viable with Microsoft's latest OS.  So I took the plunge and got Office
    365.  I did the free evaluation, and sure enough found that in general it solves the compatibility with Windows 8...
    But not much else.
    To this day Outlook 2013 still occasionally pops up the following message, on Microsoft's own server (!!) - though with a slightly different title than Outlook 2003 did, which caused me to have to revise my script.
    Is there anything about Outlook 2013 that's actually better than its predecessor from 10 years ago?  Certainly the general user interface is
    worse.  I really expected this to be fixed, though.
    Does anyone have an alternative (to my script) suggestion for working around the above pop-up?

    Configure The Windows 7 "To Work" Options
    Configure The Windows 8 "To Work" Options

    It's a bit hard to imagine it could be a problem at my end, insofar as I had the problem for years on multiple systems, and have only just in October set up a brand new OS from scratch.  I set up Outlook fresh there too. There are just not that
    many things one has to configure to access a POP3 server - it's certainly not rocket science.  Plus I have a perfectly stable and functional Windows setup.
    What's constant over time is my list of servers, and to be fair the only server I can recall seeing it from is pop3.live.com, as shown above.  It seems odd that Microsoft's own server would trigger such bad behavior.  Perhaps none
    of your users are/were polling Microsoft's server.  But that's not the central point anyway...
    the client not knowing if this is due to login failure or something else and resorting to prompting for the login as a best guess
    THAT's my point - in 10 years Outlook's server access error handling apparently hasn't been improved at all beyond a disruptive "best guess" pop-up.  I find it incredible that the designers of a network application would have such poor understanding
    that failures are to be expected.
    I seriously couldn't have been the only one of the millions of pop3.live.com users seeing it happen in 10 years.
    I have never found any "don't stop/prompt on failure" or similar configuration settings anywhere in the Send and Receive setup, and it's not like I'm doing anything all that stunning with Outlook, just polling servers from 5 different
    accounts every 5 minutes (I've just increased that interval to see if that helps, though the pop-up only happens maybe once or twice a day).
    Anyway, thanks Keith, though I was kind of hoping maybe someone knew of a secret registry setting I've managed to miss.  Perhaps someone else might still share their secret "to keep working" option for Outlook.

  • Why, after all these years, can't Thunderbird auto-detect character encoding

    judging by all the existing messages and complaints about this, not to mention erroneous posts that say the problem is solved when it isn't, I have to conclude Mozilla either doesn't believe this is a problem or doesn't care to fix it. The bottom line is that there is no way to tell Thunderbird to automatically display emails in the character coding format they were written in. I could understand cases where the headers are not properly filled in, but I see tons of emails in which the encoding is plainly there in the headers within the message source. You can force it, but if you do so via the menu VIEW->Character Encoding->UTF8 (for example) it won't "stick" if you view another message. But who would want it to "stick" permanently anyway? What the average user really wants is to be able to toggle VIEW->Character Encoding->Auto Detect from its default "off" to simply "on", and not have to bother with it anymore.
    This is a problem that seems to have gone on forever, and it NEVER happens with other email clients. If there is some backdoor way to actually make autodetect work, I'd appreciate knowing about it. But more important, I think ALL users would appreciate it if it were not some secret "backdoor" setting, but a simple global menu choice for all accounts. Can Mozilla please fix this problem once and for all?

    You said...
    ''Thunderbird is supposed to be using the encoding in the mail.''
    I figured is "should", i'm just reporting that it doesn't
    You said...
    ''Setting auto detect to on disables that.''
    Please explain. I've looked at every setting I can find and there is no way to set auto detect to "ON". I DID try setting it to "universal" in an attempt top solve the problem, but I have since restored it to "off", because the universal setting doesn't help.
    you said...
    ''"Based on your earlier response I assume you need to press the F10 key to see the tools menu you were refered to." ''
    No... I never said that anywhere. I DID refer to Menu->View_>Character Encoding, and I did refer to right clicking on individual folders, to get to the properties dialog, and the general information tab. But F-10 doesn't do anything
    You said...
    ''I have examines dozens of mails in my inbox and each honours the character encoding set in the HTML''
    Well, mine NEVER did. A short example from an email I got today pretty much is exemplative of all mail I get from GMAIL...

    See those incidences pf "=C2=A0"? Each one displays as a strange character, a capitol A with a curved line over it. If I manually set my default encoding to UTF 8, the weird characters go away. If I leave it as Western, there is nothing I can do to tell Thunderbird to "auto detect".
    Anyway, I suppose at this point that no one responsible for the product coding is seriously looking at my issue, which is why its never been solved. If anyone does intend to help track it down and solve it, I'll be happy to provide all the examples and screen shots they ask for. Otherwise.

  • How I've Eluded Soundblaster Driver incompatibilities for all these years

    Hi I just want to share my experience on Soundblaster. It's been several years since the X-Fi's release. I was then using the original SB li've 5. to my original 53 units of computer in my PC internet and Gaming Shop. All these years I had to replace unit after unit as it grows old and manifest system problems but never would have failed to put soundblaster as a soundcard for that particular new or replaced unit. I have jumped from SB li've 5. to audigy series and then as of now X-Fi extreme music.And so far in my entire life I have never encountered a single problem out of soundblaster not even in a single unit of my PCs. And because Iam puzzled with all the complaints when I visit here. I pity all of you guys and I decided to make this post for a reason that it might help some of you as it had helped me through all my Creative experience years.
    Ok here are the some simple steps I've been using and have acquired all these years and never did it failed me:
    .You must know the inside and out of your PC. Find out all the drivers that has been installed from the past and present in your pc. This is generally important so that if you will have compatibility problem in the future you can start scanning and eliminating some incompatible drivers one at a time. If you don't know you can always go to "Run" and type:"regedit" and press "enter" and you will find all your drivers and activities you've done and currently making there. basically, everything as in everything even the secret of all secret funny things you've done in your pc from the past and present. Yes you can find all the things about you computer there. "If you familiarize yourself with your pc in the registry editor, you become one with your computer."
    2. Before installing soundblaster soundcard, Be sure to "UNINSTALL ALL THE EXISTING SOUNDCARD DRIVERS" your closest friend might say it's okay I've tested it myself it doensn't matter if you uninstall the existing soundcard driver it or not. Never believe him/her, remember "The enemy of your enemy isn't always your enemy too." your pc has a different build content depending on your activities from the past and present with your friends have; and this will be a big factor if you are installing sensiti've drivers like creative's. Ignoring this often results to system problems of incompatibilities. Thus, you start to cry and blame creative for all the stupidity you just caused yourself.
    3. After installing and you decide to restart now go to you "SYSTEM BIOS" and "turn off" your onboard soundcard there if you currently have one.
    4. If you decide to reinstall the driver because you felt you've missed something. It never hurts to "ALWAYS UNINSTALL FIRST" And then install the current driver again.
    5. Lastly, guess you've heard this one "Never fix your PC, if it ain't broke." If you try to overclock your PC a dozen or hundred times and you "suddenly forgot" the "last oveclock activity" you've made and then after a week you discovered you suddenly have a sound problem in your Battlefield 2 when the last time you played it the sound were okay. After a couple of hours of trying to reinstall and you've abide to all the right procedures installing above and still finds the sound in bf2 sucks. Don't panic and come blaming creai've again with your stupidity cause you just broke the general law and tried to fix something that ain't broke.
    6. One more thing, never use very cheap, never heard motherboard that you personally insist it's too good for you. Some motherboards are genuinely incompatible with soundblaster X-fi as of now because the driver is in early stage. Early adopters usually gets hit with this.
    Important: When uninstalling past creative drivers, actually to all the drivers in my case, just to be sure. Go to registry editor and erase all the hidden dll files and clutters. soundblaster drivers are not ordinary driver that once you uninstall this its all gone?.. No, it's not gone at all, In fact, soundblasters drivers are embedded so deep in your system that some people need driver cleanup softwares so that the hidden remaining dll files will be totally wiped out; problem is some bogus driver clean up softwares are in rage for years and there's a big chance that you would catch one, most specially the one that comes in free. But If you familiarize yourself in the registry editor, There's no software that can erase all the hidden files and dlls better than you would do it manually.Done this for years and it never did failed me.
    ***not so important in the process but better get rid of it st just to be sure anyway it's easy as .2..3... Try to remove all the spywares before installing by using Ad-Aware,Spybot search and destroy and microsoft ad remove software. Don't just try to use one, some spywares are just as stubborn as humans are.Message Edited by spenz on 04-7-2006 04:00 AMMessage Edited by spenz on 04-7-2006 04:00 AMMessage Edited by spenz on 04-7-2006 04:03 AM

    *Edited due to length of post and the normal troubleshooting BS that you hear every time one user has a problem.
    Good post for general troubleshooting, but it doesn't sit to well with me when there are literally thousands who have these problems. Don't you think this will rub anyones nose in the dirt who through no fault of they're own has problems?
    I for one have a good working x-fi but for someone to say that the multitude of problems are due to bad installations or viruses, i feel is downright insulting for the people who have reformatted, bought new hardware, and come up against a brick wall each and every time.
    I know a lot of the time when it comes to pc's and they're faults its due to the person themselves and not the pc, but those people tend to be few in number and don't complain of the same symptoms over and over again.
    It exists on very popular motherboards and at a guess i would say the x-fi is asking for to much bandwidth which certain chipsets can not supply.
    A pci asking for to much bandwidth is not the fault of the user the pc or some other supernatural event, its the pci card itself, they should conform within the pci specifications and not go over what is set by a standard.

    My IPad 2 external speaker does not work and the original headphones have popping sound when used. This all occurred at the same time as my IPhone and IPod headphones only plays mono (and no, the "mono" option is not on) with the original headphones, as well as, other headphones tested.  How can there be audio issue for all these devices at the same time?
    As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?

    Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
    I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
    What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
    Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.
    Peace,
    P. Dreadie

    I am new to apple software having worked with microsoft all these years. The switch was mainly for my photographs. Iphotos seemed to have changed all digital albums from jpeg to tiff format hence the very small resolution. Can anyone out there please help me recover these photos to origianal format???

    Gosh I am already tired of trying to retrieve this photo album and it seems like a waste of time and money spent on an apple IMac.
    No disrespect intended but until you learn how iPhoto and Macs work you will continue to be confused and frustrated.
    You say you want to create a book in iPhoto and have it printed by Apple, right.  Have you finished creating  the book in iPhoto? If so the Control (right) - click in the View all pages window background and select Save Book as  PDF in the contextual menu?
    Open the the PDF file with Preview and check for any errors or problems.  If there are none you can order the book by clicking oin the Buy Book button at the bottom. • All these years of nice browsing and now the frickin thing turns black ver 10 & 11!!! WTF??

    Everything turns black.

    Ok, so by "turn black" what exactly do you mean? Do you mean that the window and controls (back button, etc.) go black?
    Let's try doing this. Update your graphics driver, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers]. Then, update to Firefox 11. If you still see the issue, let's disable Hardware Acceleration. Click on Tools, then Options, then inside there go to Advanced. You should see a checkbox that says "Use Hardware Acceleration when available". Uncheck it, then click ok and restart Firefox. Let me know if you still have the issue after all this.

  • Webplayer; still not working properly after all theese years

    Dehellu, I've posted about this problem for mor then 1½ years ago and it is still persistent. Why doesnt Spotify offer a real helpdesk or support? This "support" forum is ridiculous to solve problems at this level. I get that it's good for the small problems like installing the freaking software and help with creating new playlists for elders, but this, is just embarrissing on a whole new level.  I got this message by a moderator of the forum back in November 2013:   RichardModerator Posts: 4,417Registered: ‎19-01-2012 Re: Web player shuffles different songs into different playlists[ New ]Options ‎26-11-2013 04:35 PMSorry to leave you hanging. I haven't been able to get this looked into fully yet - but it's still on my priority list.
    Thanks for hanging in there still. I'll be back as soon as I've got news.Check out our Twitter for the latest updates on any service issues: @Spotifystatus

    New to the Community? Check out our Community newbie tips       The problem is as following:
    I login to the windows client, all my lists look fine and the songs I've dropped into the specific lists are where they're suppossed to be.  BUT to my amaze, when I use the webclient the list I want to listen to at that specific moment contain different songs from the standalone client. Songs that has never been in there. If you who read this look at the pictures I've attached to this thread and compare the playlists in the standalone client in widnwos and the web client in chrome. Yes to the following questions;I've tried different browsersI've tried different computers at different locations in Stockholm.It is only with my own account, the one I'm writing from at this moment the playlists gets messed up.I've created new accounts and on those accounts the playlists work across all platforms. I am sorry if I sound in text as grumpy. But it's been a problem for atleast 2 years since it took me half a year to even post on this forum about it in the first place. My account was created in the early days of Spotify back when it was new and it requierd invites in order to use it.  Here's the original thread from 2013:https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Web-Player/Web-player-shuffles-different-songs-into-different-playlists/td-p/565880 This needs to be resolved as I will not be able to use the windows client for much longer because of restrictions in installing different programs and apps on my works computers.

    Glenn, Just so you know, we are a peer-to-peer group here, not BBerry Techs. I do not use EAS -- just IMAP and POP. But have had recent issues. So, I can only relate my limited experience.
    After trying to sort myself, my first call was to my carrier. Since I have T-mo (usa), and they have an internal tech division specific to BBerry products, they are very good. But after the usual trouble-shooting, they connected me directly to BBerry. After I gave them my info, three hours later the issues disappeared.
    Since I do not see a lot of posts dealing with your exact issue, I suspect it's particular to your phone. Have you tried putting your phone in airplane mode, then turning your wifi back on and trying your account? OR, actually remove the SIM and just use wifi? (In case the SIM is whacko).
    Otherwise, I'm sure there are people here who know more about EAS and can help. Or... contact BBerry through Rogers?
    Scrannel, it is useless for him to waste his time to contact Rogers, they will tell him to contact BlackBerry and that they do support this kind of problem, the only problem  they deal with is when it is related to their network and that is it
