Iwant to play movies and videos but it alawys ends in an error or says the media is unsuported , what codec or software do I need to get and were might I find it please help

Missing codecs for media player 12

I have Windows 7 loaded on my computer and the Media player 12 will not open .asf files. I have tried all kinds of patches and fixes but mothing seems to work. I have just purchased another computer for a different location and that windows 7 media player 12 works perfectly.

I normally install VLC player that is capable of playing all the file formats. You can download it from the following weblink:
http://www.videolan.org
Then all the codecs will get installed and Media Player starts playing most of the file formats.

Do you mean are there other codecs you can install and play in QT, yes there is, just this and it will take care of them all just about.

Others are Silverlight (free) and Flip4Mac (payware) for protected Windows media files.
You can also install the free VLC player, it plays a lot too.
DivX, I don't know about, VLC likely can play that.
There is also RealPlayer, but I think that's dropped off the face of the planet

Is it looking for the Windows Media Player? The default installation of WMP does not include the Firefox plugin. There is a WMP plugin created by Microsoft for Firefox, but the standard WMP plugin installer from Microsoft is for Windows XP and Vista, though you can run the installer on Windows 7 it installs the plugin in a location that Firefox 4 will not find.
One way to get around this is to install the HTML5 Extension for Windows Media Player Firefox Plug-in available from http://www.interoperabilitybridges.com/html5-extension-for-wmp-plugin
That add-on will do 2 things, it will install the WMP plugin in a location that Firefox 4 on Windows 7 can find, it will also add an extension to add extra features for use by the Windows Media Player. This extension has been reported as causing memory leaks so I recommend that once you install the HTML5 Extension for Windows Media Player Firefox Plug-in you should restart Firefox then uninstall the extension. Uninstalling the extension will not remove the plugin, so Firefox 4 will still be able to use it.

If I understand correctly, then the old Outlook 2003 is no longer available to you. If that's the case, then all of your information should have been taken from your local outlook 2003 and put into the new outlook 2007 exchange. The only way you can sync with exchange is by using EAS. You will need the server address, domain name, and the username/password you use to log into outlook. I expect you may not have some of this information, which is where your IT department will be able to fill in the blanks. You won't need to use the Treo for email, but now that outlook 2003 is gone, that isn't an option for your contacts/calendar/notes anymore. When setting up the EAS on your device, it will ask what you want to sync, and you can select/deselect the options you prefer.

Convert iMovie project for Media Player?

I need to send my iMovie project to some Windows users who only have Media Player. How do I convert my file? I cannot use MobileMe or YouTube as ultimately, the movie will need to be added to a company newsletter.

I should have said this is my first iMovie project. I am only seeing size options when I select Export Movie. I do see an option export as an mpeg when I select Export Using Quicktime. Also .avi. I'm on my work network on a different computer, so I'll see what happens when I send those formats to my work email.
I went to the ffmpeg site, but how to download the application was not clear to me. Honestly, I'm not a tech expert and all of the explanations about the package, upgrades, patches, etc. were foreign to me.

Missing codec in Media Player to play LabVIEW training video over Web

I get a "missing codec 130" message when I try to run LV training video from NI website. The error link takes me to MS site but codec is not available for download (apparently). WM player is configured for auto download of codecs cant find it. I have re-downloaded WM player twice and also run windows update.
Any ideas what to do next?

After googling around, it appears as though "codec 130" is referring to an ACELP Sipro codec.
If you enable codec download in WMP, the codec should be installed automatically when you play the video. However, if it does not, then it's possible that the codec may already be there and there may be an issue with the codec already installed.

I'm not sure if you've tried this yet, but is it possible to uninstall WMP first and then reinstall? Also, I would maybe look into finding ways to uninstall/unregister codecs to see if we can reload the codec.

Updates to codecs for Quicktime Player

I want to update codecs used by QuickTime player 7. Do I just use the update feature in the program, or do i need to manually update the codecs online somewhere?

QuickTime includes the most commonly used codecs with each install. When you encounter a file that you don't have the proper codec to view you may be directed to the third party component page offered by Apple.
But it doesn't tell you which to install because it doesn't actually "read" the file. It only knows that something is missing.
Best practice would be to use the MOvie Info window on files that give you trouble. You'll be able to view the codecs used in it and need only do a Google search to find what you need.

Hi guys, does anyone know if you can download further visualisations for the N95. Mine has 2 as standard, someone must have produced more.

don't know of any other visualizations available for download. i think is all up to nokia to offer it for download or in new firmware. but until then you'll just have to stick with what's available.

Preload FLV for media player

I have flv video that loads into mediaplayer component in my
interface and want the video to preload under interface intro so it
is available to play without hicups. There are no play controls
under the mediaplayer...it is just supposed to play as part of
interface when a separate button is pressed...I can't seem to find
an answer to this anywhere.

use the pause() method to pause it immediately after you
execute the play() method. when the progress event indicates your
flv has completely downloaded (or whenever you want to start your
flv streaming), execute another pause() method.

Error Message When Trying to Download Adobe Media Player

I can not download Media Player. I've tried using Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. I receive an error message that says . . . "Sorry and error has occurred. The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author. Error # 2032". I called Adobe customer service who informed me there is no technical support for Media Player. Anyone have this same problem?

Yes, I have had the same problem but I don't know what to do for it. Did Adobe customer service tell you what to do for the problem? It's to late at night for me to call, no one is at the customer care center now. If you could please tell me if you got the problem fixed and if so what did you do to get it fixed??
