Cold Fusion 10 Updates
I am attempting to download and install about 6 different updates that showed up when I started up CF 10 Admin. My server has MS Server 2003 installed and there isn't much chance the customer will upgrade it in the near future. The server is next door to my office, but we don't have KVMs installed and I can access it via Terminal Services. The process for downloading and installing these updates is taking forever. Could this issue be due to the fact that I'm using Terminal Services? Thanx.
To manually apply the update, can you try the following steps:-
1. Download the update from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/hotfix_014.jar?
2. Copy the jar file to {cf_install}\jre\bin\.
3. Launch Command prompt as Administrator.
4. Browse to the location mentioned in Step 2 and type this command “java –jar hotfix_014.jar”
5. It will launch the update window. Follow the on screen instructions

Hi,
I have a CF8 install on a dev box which I woudl like to
update with "Cold fusion update 1 ", I was wondering if someone
could confirm if "cf8 update 1 " will update existing installation
or install a fresh installation??
I have tried running the cf8 update 1 but it looks like it's
going to perform a full installation and I really dont want to
break the current instances.
Regards,
MarianoHi Mariano,
The
ColdFusion Support
Home Page has links to various pages like the CF forums, hot
fixes and updates. The
updates
page has links under the "ColdFusion 8 Update 1 (8.0.1)" heading
for various downloads. These downloads will update your existing
ColdFusion 8 server or multiserver installation.
If you download a ColdFusion trial or developer version off
our download site, it will be a full installation of CF 8.0.1.
Those download options will include the 64 bit versions as Hemant
indicated. -
Updater 2 and Dreamweaver's Cold Fusion development server
Hello,
I am in the process of developing a Cold Fusion Web
application for my university dean's office using...
<cfobject type="COM" action="create" name="Chart"
Class="Corda.Embedder">
...and I am receiving this error message...
An exception occurred when instantiating a Com object.
...the Corda documentation states the following, and I agree
with them that this is what I am experiencing and need to do...
COM Corda Embedder (Windows)
If you are using ColdFusion MX on Windows, be sure you have
updated your server to the latest version using the ColdFusion MX
Updater Release 1. This is available at
http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/releasenotes/mx/releasenotes_mx_updater.html.
You will need to apply this update to fix a bug in ColdFusion MX
that prevents it from accessing Window’s Component Object
Model (COM).
Other than that, you don’t need to do anything. The COM
version of the Corda Embedder is installed automatically for you.
...I am running Windows XP Professional 2002 SP2, and the
Cold Fusion Developer Server THAT COMES WITH Dreamweaver 8.0. The
Cold Fusion server is an established server running several CF
applications. The Corda product is also known to be running fine,
as I am able to view my current projects in a browser.
Server Details
Server Product ColdFusion MX
Version 7,0,0,91690
Edition Developer
Serial Number Developer
Operating System Windows XP
OS Version 5.1
1) Am I missing something with instantiating the COM object?
2) How can I tell if I need the Cold Fusion updater?
3) Which updater version do I download (1 or 2) and for which
server (MX, MX7, Special Dreamweaver version)?
4) Where do I install the updater - since I am running the
Cold Fusion Developer Server that comes with Dreamweaver, it is not
located in the default C:\CFusionMX7 directory?
Thank You Very Much For Your Time,
Nathan
Technology Support Analyst, Sr.2) How can I tell if I need the Cold Fusion updater?
Version 7,0,0,91690
You are on Version 7MX, no updater. After the update you will
have a
version something like this.
Version 7,0,1,xxxx OR Version 7,0,2,xxxx
3) Which updater version do I download (1 or 2) and for which
server
(MX, MX7, Special Dreamweaver version)?
You need to download and install at least updater 1 for MX 7
per the COM
instructions, updater 2 (which by default includes updater 1
IIRC) could
be even better, but has a small chance of doing something you
don't want
it to. One would have to read all the tech notes and make a
decision.
There is no "Special Dreamweaver" version, it is just the
standard Free
Development version anybody can download and install. "Serial
Number
Developer" And to turn this into a professional version all
one has to
do is purchase a license number an enter it into the
administration
panel. This converts a developer CF server to a Production CF
server
with no other downloading or installing necessary.
4) Where do I install the updater - since I am running the
Cold Fusion
Developer Server that comes with Dreamweaver, it is not
located in the
default C:\CFusionMX7 directory?
Most likely the installer will figure that out. If it does
not, just
provide the directory/file path to where your CF is installed
when asked.

Without knowing what problems you
know your application will experience on IE 8, there is no
way for anyone here to determine whether it's a ColdFusion issue
that needs fixing or if it's the way your application was written,
which means your application would need fixing.
What problems do you know your application will experience on
IE 8? I know you're not a developer, but be as specific as

Cannot browse server following installation of hotfix 4 to Cold Fusion 9.0.1
Hi
I've been tasked with updating a ColdFusion 9.0.1 installation to the latest patches. I've started with Hotfix 4. The installation appeared to go OK, and the services started after I applied the update. However, when I went to moved onto the next update (APSB13-10) starting by browsing to the update file I ran into a problem. When I click on the "browse server" button to locate the .jar file for the next update I encounter an error: "Unable to authenticate on RDS server using current security information". I've also found that if I try to put the full path into the Update File line and hit "Submit Changes" it errors.
This seems to be the same problem as http://forums.adobe.com/message/5256752#5256752, but there's no solution to the problem in that discussion.
I've checked the RDS settings, and RDS is unchecked. I notice that this screen is different from the pre-upgrade screen, but this seems to be as a result of, I think, APSB13-03, which is included in HotFix 4. If I try to make any changes on this screen it errors and logs me out of the Cold Fusion administrator. I've tried commenting out the RDS section in the web.xml file, but this gives me a different error.
I'm doing this on an isolated test server which has no access to the network. If I revert to the snapshot I took before the upgrade attempt ColdFusion runs as expected.
Any ideas what might be the problem? Thanks in advance. In case it helps anyone I've realised what I was doing wrong here.
The main “problem” was that one of the updates included in Cumulative Hotfix 4 is APSB13-03 (http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/coldfusion-security-hotfix-apsb13-03.html). I knew this changed the behaviour of RDS but my knowledge prior to this work of ColdFusion and in particular RDS was very limited, and so I didn't understand the implications of this hotfix. What this update does is disable RDS by default; I wasn't really aware what the RDS status of my server was prior to the update, partly because before this update there is no "disable RDS" tick box to show whether it is enabled or disabled. With RDS disabled, you can't browse as the update instructions require you to do. Obviously RDS was enabled on my setup without me realising it.
My understanding of this wasn't helped by the fact that when I tried to paste a path into the box and hit the "update" button I got a different error, which I described in my original post. Similarly if I tried to change RDS settings, or do pretty much anything in the administrator, it failed and logged me out in the same way. It seemed to me that the whole thing was broken by the updates and I didn't know how to fix it.
So, following the excellent advice of Charlie Arehart in two articles: http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2010/12/12/cfmyths_cumulative_hotfixes and http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2011/10/21/why_chfs_may_break, I went back to the start and installed the cumulative hotfixes one by one. Although I don't think I actually needed to do this, as Hotfix 4 seems to contain all the previous hotfixes, it did help me realise that the browsing/RDS issue and the error and logout when I tried to do anything in the administrator were two different problems. After further bit of googling I found people suggesting that you should use https to access the administrator, but the shortcut I had was taking me to http (as far as I know I was using the default shortcut). I found that by going to https the problem of being logged out when trying to do anything disappeared and I could put a UNC path in to update the .jar file for the next update. I also was now able to enable RDS for single password and could browse like the hotfix instructions advise. I've since disabled RDS and accepted the inability to browse as a "feature", happy that it's more secure as a result.
So my “problems” were largely self-inflicted due to my own ignorance of the product, but it wasn’t helped by Adobe’s apparent inability to grasp that there may be similarly ignorant people attempting these updates. It would have been nice to see some guidance from them. Furthermore, the cumulative hotfix 4 page (http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/cumulative-hotfix-4-coldfusion-901.html) doesn’t even mention RDS, let alone that the default behaviour changes. It’s only when you check the individual hotfix information that you can see the information that helped me to realise where I was going wrong.
As for using https not http; great, but if I’m right that my shortcut is the default out-of-the-box shortcut, where’s the information to advise to change to using https as a result of one of the hotfixes included in hotfix 4 (originally, I think, hotfix 2)? It’s certainly not mentioned on the page for cumulative hotfix 4. -
JDBC/Cold Fusion to 8.1.6 DB
I'm using the 8.1.7 JDBC client on a Win2K Cold Fusion Server. The client connects to the database, but frequently hangs in the midst of a simple query. When I look at the task manager in Windows, the jrun process has maxed out at 99% with very little RAM being used. I'm trying to figure if this is a JDBC problem or a java runtime bug.
anyone have suggestions?Update: I am running the rmjvm.run( true ) procedure to remove the jvm install. This is hanging as well. It creates the 'MONSTER' rollback segment, via the initjvmaux.rollbacksetup call, but then hangs (it appears) after that...I'll let it run a bit longer but this getting very frustrating is to say the least (of course, I have said more @()$*&@$(*#&!!!).
If I do a fresh install on the same machine, same parameters, and everything works then Oracle needs to work on their conversion utilities...and I thought their problems were just limited to their GUI tools...oh well. Oh yeah, perhaps a class action lawsuit against big O for loss of productivity because their conversion utility didn't work as documented. Don't get me wrong, best DB on the market, unfortunely, that's where their success ends in my opinion. -
I am having a 64 bit machine on which windows server 2008 R2 is installed. IIS 7.0 is configured and running on it. on which I have my organisations main website. I have to install Cold fusion on this machine as some of my site pages are designed with CF.
I used all the default settings for installing cold fusion 9. It got completed succefully. But after I restarted my system and tried accesing my ASP.net website it was not loading the page. Text getting displayed was only as follows '<script> src="'. Later I unsistalled CF and my site was working fine.
Please can any one guide me to successfully install Cold fusion without disturbing my main site deployed on IIS ?Sarfarajms, I don't recognize what about the CF install would conflict with ASP.NET, but I'll note this:
If you downloaded CF 9 recently, you are still running 9.0--which does NOT formally support IIS 7. If you followed the steps about enabling IIS 6 compatibility and such (in the install guide or some blog entry), perhaps that caused the conflict.
Instead, you will want to install 9.0.1 (CF 9 Updater 1, which is NOT provided in the current 9.0 install). THAT is the first release to formally support IIS 7. And if you read the updater installation guide (http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/coldfusion/901/cf901install.pdf), it discusses how to deal with the upgrade depending on what you had done with respect to IIS, starting at the bottom of its page 8.
Hope that helps.

recommend you uninstall CFMX6 and install the latest CFMX 7.02 at:

Cold fusion 9 500 - Internal server error.
all of a sudden none of our cfm web pages work on a windows 8 server running iis 7 .... the server shows no errors in the event viewer .... occasionally functionality comes back w/o doing anything ...... cold fusion did have all the hotfixes updated a few months ago but i cant get to the admin page to give what the version is

ColdFusion is what people will google for, so in the spirit of helping others who might have the same question as you later on, spelling it right will help the community.
Jason's observation that you give us absolutely nothing to go on so it's basically impossible to help you is a fairly poignant observation, right? You do want help? Right, so here's some suggestions:
Articulate your issue clearly, with sufficient detail that we can help you. Read this:

Secondly... being rude to someone like Jason who really is one of the most helpful people on

Hi,
Is there a way to find the location of Cold Fusion 9 patches?
I found this URL: http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads_updates.html#cf9
Also, is there a way of determining what patches are missing for the Cold Fusion 9 installation?
Currently, have Version: 9,0,1,274733 and Adobe Driver Version: 4.0 (Build 0005)
Does the Cold Fusion patches include any Java necessary updates?
Java Version: 1.6.0_17
Thanks,
MikeHello userCold9
Is there a way to find the location of Cold Fusion 9 patches?
I found this URL: http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads_updates.html#cf9
Here are the link to patches:-
http://www.adobe.com/support/security/#coldfusion
If you go to the details of every patch, it would give you the information about the version number. Which would in turn, help you to locate the patch installed on your system.

Cold Fusion MX 7 MultiServer Cluster Question
Hey all,
I've configured 2 Cold Fusion MX 7 servers running 2
instances each. I've configured a cluster between them and have the
Proxy Listener up and running.
When I access the page, everything comes up just fine... but
when I round robin between them, I'm losing my session.
I've enabled J2EE Session variables, I enabled the load
balancing of sessions in the JRun admin console on the machines.
What am I doing wrong? I know the session is being written
the machine(s) because I can see them in the directories on the
servers. We've been having a similar issue, with occasional pages
hanging for hundreds of seconds at that same
JrppBufferedOutputStream, which SeeFusion identifies as "Writing
completed page back to the Web server".
This happens randomly throughout the day, more often when
there's more traffic, but also in the wee hours with relatively few
visitors; nothing else appears to be going on, often with the
long-running thread the only active thread.
Our setup is pretty similar to yours, CFMX7, MSSQL2000,
Win2k3 Server, but with dual Xeons instead of single-CPU. We've
applied the significant hotfixes, including the DST update to the
1.4.2_11 JVM. I'm not positive we've updated to the latest IIS
connector (as mentioned in
http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb07-02.html),
but will be checking, just to be sure. If you also don't have the
newest connector installed, that would be an interesting
commonality.
We had problems in the past with CF locking up completely
during one of these hung threads, but after some tweaking to
stabilize memory usage below 80%, the lockups are rare.
So I have no answer, but will be sure to share any solution
we do find with you, and hope you'll do the same! :*) -
UAG 2010 SP4 Cold Fusion Web Application "You Are Not Authorized To Access This Application" error
Hi folks,
2010 UAG SP4 publishing a web app that is a Cold Fusion login page.
The portal trunk is set to not verify URLs and open with that page directly rather than a Portal page, I also have it set to not install client components, basically using UAG as a reverse proxy with some other items.
The published app does not require authentication and all users are authorized the path is as follows:
/index.cfm?FuseAction=Security.Login
And the hostname is set as www.apps.x.x.edu name removed but is correct. UAG has an http to https redirection and it requires https.
The Portal Link has https://xxxx as the address which is correct as it is using an SSL connection to the backend web server and I can reach the page successfully from the UAG server by simply browsing.
I previously had the application launching within the portal but the client does not want the extra step so I removed the portal interaction all together and while I had the application launching within the portal, it worked. I'm not certain what changed
to make it fail, though.
In the Web Monitor I receive this error:
A request on trunk nonuvaportal; Secure=1 failed because of an unknown application. The URL is /index.cfm?FuseAction=Security.Login. The source IP address is 137.54.129.238. The user is .
Any help or tips or advice would be superb.
Thanks,
JustinAnd an update, I did another application publishing on a separate trunk/portal to a similar page
/index.cfm?FuseAction=Programs.Home
And I get the same error. Is there a switch/setting/policy I am missing to allow it to run those? -
I want to find out whether coldfusion can talk with SVN ,the reason is I should be able to download the component from SVN to my local system modify and then add it again to back to SVN or directly upload a new component from my local system to SVN. Basically my cold fusion application sholud be able to talk with SVN to perform the above functions.
This is some dude named Dan's Prior Art, His site is dead but google gave a cached page... I can imagine all kinds of mods and uses for something like this...
Cool ColdFusion and Subversion integration
December 5th, 2007 Dan Skaggs Leave a comment Go to comments
I recently decided to outsource my souce code management to CVSDude. I had been running SVN on my VPS that I have at Slicehost and that had been running okay. However, I’m only good enough at SVN administration to get the server up and running and create a few repositories and there were other things that I needed to do with SVN that I frankly didn’t have time to learn how to do.
One of the things that I’d heard talked about that made life much easier was using Subversion’s various hooks to automate some things around different SVN events. I emailed tech support asking how we could configure the “post-commit” hook to update the files on my VPS each time I made a commit into the SVN module. The tech told me that they do this by configuring an HTTP call to a page (or script etc) on your server. That page then triggers an SVN update of the specific module.
After hearing this, I began thinking about how to use CFEXECUTE to trigger the SVN update and was actually surprised how simple it was. My VPS runs on Fedora Core 6, so, like any *nix operating system, you need to make sure permissions on the files are set so that the user which runs ColdFusion can write to the directories. Once that was accomplished, all it took was a few lines of code and we’re ready to start receiving HTTP callbacks from CVSDude’s servers.
CVSDude structures their SVN URLs in the format http://username-svn.cvsdude.com/modulename (or https://). All my modules are named in reverse domain order for the web site that it is for (for example, this one is ws.skaggsfamily.dan). I had already checked out all my modules into a specific directory.
The HTTP callback from CFSDude’s server has 4 URL parameters that they send over: root (full path to module), author (user), revision and date. So all I really had to do was grab the URL.root value and extract the name of the module, pass that to the CFEXECUTE tag and, voila, automatic updating of the module immediately after the commit.
There were only 2 gotchas that I had to figure out:
Put the full path to the svn executable
Add in your username and password to the string in the arguments attribute of CFEXECUTE
The code that I used is below. I’m sure there’s more that I could have done with it, but this is a good start I think.
<cfif structKeyExists(URL, “date”) AND URL.date NEQ “” AND
structKeyExists(URL,”author”) AND URL.author NEQ “” AND
structKeyExists(URL, “revision”) AND URL.revision NEQ “” AND
structKeyExists(URL, “root”) AND URL.root NEQ “”>
<cfset module = replaceNoCase(URL.root, “http://username-svn.cvsdude.com/”, “”)>
<cfexecute name=”/usr/bin/svn”
arguments=”up /var/sites/#module# –username yourUserName –password yourPassword”
timeout=”300″
variable=”result”>
</cfexecute>
<cflog log=”Application”
type=”information”
text=”#URL.author#:#URL.root#:#URL.revision# – #result#”>

What's happening with cold fusion?!
first, this very page is throwing js errors in both ie8 and firefox 24.0 , i can't reply to any posts
then, with all this flurry of security breaches on gov websites running cold fusion, do we have a comprehensive white paper showing how to plug all the security holes that were uncovered? Thanks Carl,
when clicking the reply link on the forum, in ie8 i get:

Site seems to be working fine for me. As to plugging security holes,
there are two things you need to do:
1. Keep your servers updated with the latest patch(es). If you are
on CF10, use the built-in automatic updater. If on CF8 or CF9, take a
look at David Epler's Unofficial Updater project.
2. Follow the appropriate ColdFusion lockdown guide for the version
you are running.
For CF9:

For CF10:

What does deauthorization actually do?
I need to deauthorize iTunes on some old computers that I no longer own. It seems like the only way to do this is to deauthorize my iTunes account on all devices and start from scratch. But what exactly does that do? Will my music be there when I aut

3G drops WiFi connection every 20 seconds
Hi, I'm debugging why a particular application I wrote myself won't work. The application basically creates a CFNetwork-based connection to the Mac over WiFi, and this used to work. I've recently updated to Mac 10.6.1 and iPhoneOS 3.0.1, and it no lo
