Coldfusion 9 Won't Install (Win 7 32Bit Prof)

I am trying to install CF9 onto my Win 7 32Bit pc.  I downloaded the install and got the huge 440MB+ file called Coldfusion_9_WWE_win.exe
I double-click that file and after a few seconds I see the InstallAnywhere app begin to extract the files....  After that completes, I see a JAVA icon pop up in the taskbar and from that point on nothing happens.  I did this a few times and on the last go I just let it run when I left for work.  When I came back home about 10 hours later, it was still doing nothing.  I checked the running processes and both Coldfusion_9_WWE_win.exe and Adobe_cf.exe are running but obviously nothing is getting installed.
I tried running it as administrator as well and that doesn't work either.  What else can I do?

Well - Just in case anyone else has this problem - I found the reason it was failing AND more importantly the
fix....
So I extracted everything from the ColdFusion_9_WWE_win.exe file to see if maybe I could execute the install.  When you extract the file you get two folders:
InstallerData
Windows
Inside the Windows folder is the adobe_cf.exe file  When I clicked it, I noticed that almost immediately it wrote 3 files.  two files with a long number string and a .details and .notes extenstion and another called centaur_err.  When I checked these files I noticed some java errors - mainly the following:
java.lang.nullpointerexception
This got me thinking that maybe my installed version of Java was not playing nicely with the installer.  So I checked my java version by going to the control panel and opening the JAVA control panel.  I clicked about and it showed I had Java.Version 1.6.0_16.  I then checked to see if there was an update.  There was - to version 1.6.0_20.  OK, so I updated Java.  I then deleted those 3 files that were written at the last botched install.  I kicked off adobe_cf.exe again.... Same crash - but something important stuck out....  SAME JAVA VERSION REPORTED - 1.6.0_16 not the newly updated version 1.6.0_20.
Could it be, the installer had cached my old version, or was it just not looking in the correct spot??????  There is one more file in the Windows directory that gets extracted, it is called adobe_cf.lax.  Let's check that one and see what's in it????  Low and behold there is the following line in this file:
lax.nl.current.vm=resource\\jre\\bin\\java.exe
I changed this entry to point to my installation of JAVA ---- So my file now has this:
lax.nl.current.vm=c:\\Program Files\\Java\\jre6\\bin\\java.exe
I saved the file and ran adobe_cf.exe again, and YAY!!!!!! my install now works perfectly.

  • MSI AMD FM1 A55-P33 - won't install windows 7 32bit

    Hi there,
we have board the MSI AMD FM1 A55-P33 motherboard but for some reason we cannot install windows 7 32bit on it.
    What does install flawlessly is:
    All Windows7 64bit
    Windows 7 Starter 32bit
We ( and also the local supplier here in South Africa ) have test the following components:
    Power Supply
    Ram
    Ram Ports
    Alternate Ram Manufacturer
    DVD Writer
    Hard Drives
    Graphics Card
    Onboard Graphics Alone
Board is running latest bios update.
and it still does not install.
They supplier  has ordered in and tested the same model motherboard and it still does not install.
For me that means it could be the motherboard model or the cpu ( which is still being ordered in so an alternate can be tested )
When i say doesn't install, it installs until the very end where the installation restarts and goes into the installation one last time to finalize things
and then it throws a error and you can't complete the installation.
The local supplier has had the computer for 2weeks now with no success,
I was hoping someone here could assist us with a few suggestions.
Thanks to any advice given .

what is the exact error received?

  • Satellite L50-A-1d5 - cannot install Win 7 (32bit or 64bit)

    Hi guys.
Very strange problem when i trying to install win 7.
I changed the bios setting to boot from cd and it works graet.
After the windows 7 install finish, the laptop resets and when the Windows 7 flag appears it's just freeze.(the keeps moving but nothing happend).
I allready tried 3 versions of windows 7 and always the same problem.
I also use Arconis via Hiren's and i cleaned the hard drive and installed again but..... the same problen accured.
    any suggestions??
    thanks a lot

What BIOS settings did you change exactly?
Usually you need to disable the secure boot and have to change the boot mode from UEFI to CSM mode.
By the way: did you use the clean original Microsoft installation disk to install the system or did you use an image backup for OS installation?

  • Vista 32bit driver won't install on Vista 32bit, but older XP driver wil

So I keep getting this error,
    http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/p234/Spoudazo/Xfi_Vistaissue.jpg
It's weird, as I can install older drivers in Vista, just not Vista drivers. Oh the irony!
    Any ideas?
I don't have the driver for the onboard sound installed, so that's not an issue.
Currently using WinXP 32bit driver, but in order to us ALchemy I need newer drivers.
Here's a screecap of dxdiag (Run > Dxdiag)

Well, I found a link on hardforum.com that actually worked.

  • Hamachi adapter won't install Win 8.1

My system auto updates to version 2.2.0.377 and now the Hamachi adapter is gone. If I run the diagnostic tool, it shows an adapter with no name as disabled. If I try to manually reinstall the adapter it tells me that the adapter is tested for compliance on a different version of windows and may not be compatible with this version. If I try to manually install the other adapter I get the message "The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file" I found the previous version to reinstall, but it immediately updates itself to the new version. It appears the new version is broken on Win 8.1. Any help appreciated

    To resolve:
    1. open administrative command prompt
    2. cd to directory with the msi file
    3. msiexec /i VMWARE-MSI-INSTALLER-FILE-NAME
    4. Follow wizard as directed

  • Hyper V won't install WIN XP

Launched Hyper V and attempted to connect to WIN XP to install the XP operating system.  I have the installation disk for WIN XP. The message I get is "boot device not found".  when I try to install using an image file I get the same
result. cc Hyper V is set to look at the dvd drive for the program installation and in my hard drive for the image.  Everything seems to be ok with the Hyper V installation and settings, but obviously something is not working.

Using a new (gaming) computer only 1 month old.  I should be able to load XP on a virtual disk so I can use some apps that work in XP.  When I had Win 7 on an older machine I installed the XP Virtual mode and these apps worked.
Would like to do the same in WIN 8.1.

  • ITunes won't install - Win 7 64 bit

I am having similar problems with installations that others have posted. After a 3/30/10 update, ITunes no longer works, I cannot install version 9.1 (It locks the PC up during a "registering the (x) Server"
Owning an IPhone and an upcomming IPad, this is a big issue. Please help. I have already uninstalled everything 2 times per the support advice.

Similar problem here EXCEPT I think I had the issue BEFORE upgrading to 9.1.
I started iTunes on *Wednesday 31 Mar 2010* and it locked the PC completely (unfortunately I don't know what version but I have a feeling it was 9.0.3). Thinking it was an iTunes issue I power cycled the PC, uninstalled everything Apple including manually deleting files from all folders, temp folder, user profiles, registry etc. Downloaded and installed 64-Bit iTunes and it locked the PC at *'Registering the Automation Server'*. I have tried many different things e.g. disable anti-virus, spyware etc, but same issue.
I then installed ver 9.0 of iTunes. This installed without issue. However when I ran iTunes the application opened and after a second or two the whole PC locked.
At this point I am now uncertain whether it is an iTunes issue OR a Windows issue, and I'm really starting to think it is a combination of the two!

  • T420 GT1/GT2 Intel Video Driver Won't Install - Win 7

    Hello,
Last night I tried updating my video drivers to the latest Intel HD Graphics Driver (version 8.15.10.2769) and NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver (version 8.17.12.7658), both from Lenovo's website. Neither seemed to work. After trying to install the Intel driver I would get an error message saying my system does not meet the minimum requirements...I'm not sure how this can be the case when I downloaded the driver from Lenovo's site for my model (T420, model 4177-CTO).
Also, updating the NVIDIA driver seemed to work (the intsall finished and computer restarted), however, after rebooting no video driver showed up in device manager for the discrete card. I tried downloading the latest driver from NVIDIA's website and got an error saying it couldn't detect the hardware.
Another thing I noticed after attempting these updates was within device manager, the "2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) processor family PCI Express Controller - 0101" had a yellow caution/explamation point next to it, but device manager said the driver was up to date.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

  • Why WINDOWS 8.1 won't install/load on PC where WIN 8 runs Fine ?

Why WINDOWS 8.1 won't install/load on PC where WIN 8 runs Fine ?
As far as System Requirements go, they are the same for WIN 8 and WIN 8.1
    Sympton:
Windows 8.1 Installation DVD loads for some time, no circle of dots, then PC reboots
with quick flash of six lines or so of white text (on black backgound) @ 106 seconds
Needed to use Smart Phone video camera to capture
    Your PC needs to restart.
Please hold down the power button ...
    Error Code:0x000000C4
    Parameters:
    0x000...91
    0x000... F

    0x00000000000000000
    0x00000000000000001
Presumably message is intended for frozen PC, hence 'hold down power button'
In this case it flashes and re-boots
Windows 8.1 Image loads quickly, flash and reboots PC, having corrupted boot entry
(thankfully not other entries in Boot Manager situated on Dell System Reserved Partition)
    PC Desktops affected:
    Dimension 5000 - shipped JAN'05

    RAM 3GB
    Intel Pentium D 820 2.80Ghz 64bit NX enabled
    Intel 82945G WDDM 1.0
Both the above PC's Install and run Windows 8 without a hiccup
    Another 'ancient' machine, but unaffected:

    RAM 4GB
    2 x XEON 5365 3.0Ghz
ATI HD 6450 (Now HD 7750)
All 8.0 & 8.1 clean Installs and Upgrades on this platform had no problems
Hope some of you can throw some light on this. What does WIN 8.1 do in the boot
process that WIN 8 does not?
And if anybody has encounterd this before...
Note to multi booters - keep or reinstall Dell or other System Reserved partition (PRI,Active)
EasyBCD/Windows Boot Manager held on this partition (eg. 350MB)
If it gets corrupted, you can Restore it, rather than Gigabytes of 1st Primary O/S
Also, it will solve a lot of problems, when manipulating/adding/backing up/restoring O/S's
    That's it, happy computing...

Fellow user from St. Louis, Missouri pointed in the right direction. I'm grateful
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Running upgrade assistant (going to Store rejects CPU, but no details)
    Results in:
    X You can't install Windows 8.1 because your processor doesn't support LAHF/SAHF.
X You can't install Windows 8.1 because your processor doesn't support PrefetchW.
There are at least three Processor requirements that M'soft does not list for WIN 8.1
and it's fairly well documented, if you ask the right question, eg.:
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/2058683/new-windows-8-1-requirements-strand-some-users-on-windows-8.html
So that's it, exclusion by 'stealth' - at least M'soft told you that processor required NX - Execute Disable Bit
    for Windows 8
For Intel units, look out for 'VT-x. Have a processor on the way, but will Motherboard pass CMPXCHG16b test?
    AND PrefetchW AND LAHF/SAHF
Windows 8 support ends 2015, that means people who bought it will have had 2 years use
WIN 8.1 Upgrade/Update (sic) is free, but costly if it won't run on your machine
So, those many people who decried Windows 8 and stuck to WIN 7, were right after all
Early supporters of WIN 8, have been 'betrayed'
'Minimum Requirement for Processor 1Ghz - don't make me laugh! (Presumably for Phone 8)
M'soft have a 'more info' link on System Requirements page, so why not spell it out...
Otherwise it looks like a PR/Cosmetic exersize

Officejet 6500a won’t install wirelessly on Win 7 HP laptop. Does fine wirelessly on generic desktop pc. HP Support Assistant does not detect this unit. At one time, I had the laptop wired to the printer, so all the relevant data were transferred automatically.

Wireless and wired use different setups. Since you didn't remove the previous install it expects it to be wired connection.
