  • Install in different locations.

    Hello
    Is it possible to install different CS3 components in different locations or must they all be installed in the same place?
    I attempted to install the first set of components, and when I went to install the second set, it only allowed my to add them to the same location that the others were in.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Eli

    It is best to let the installer put the apps in the default location in the applications folder. there seem to enough problems with the updater why make the problem worse.

  • [SOLVED] Installing WINE apps in a different location by default

    Unless I'm misreading the wiki, it says:
    To create a default prefix without running a Windows program or other GUI tool you can use:
    $ env WINEPREFIX=~/.customprefix wineboot -u
    I did that, then deleted my ~/.wine folder.  Then I ran:
    $ wine control
    and it created ~/.wine all over again.
    What I'm trying to do is to install WINE apps to a different location every time by default.  I do not want to use ~/.wine at all.

    Instead, use e.g.:

    I don't even know why I continue to use adobe products. Adobe software development is a joke. So are their UIs.
    First, this forum crashed my FireFox 3.0.10 browser, twice. The second time, I figured out it was Adobe's fault. Why doesn't Adobe learn to script AJAX properly so it doesn't crash browsers? So here I am in IE8 typing a reply.
    All of you guys were beating around the bush in regards to the "solution" to this problem. I have found a way to apply the patch and use an MST generated by the Adobe Customization Wizard. Granted, it would be much better if Adobe would just generate their patches correctly to begin with.
    As you all have found out, you cannot create an MST using the ACW (Adobe Customization Wizard) and then use the following command
    msiexec /i AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd912_all_incr.msp /t
    This will cause the aforementioned problem. Below is the proper sequence of events:
    Make a backup copy of the 9.1.0 AcroRead.msi (just in case).
    Run the following command: msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd912_all_incr.msp This command will create an Administrative Install Point (AIP) in the directory you choose. I will place it in a directory called Patched The AcroRead.msi file will be rewritten and will be version 9.1.2 (check the Property table with ORCA and look at the value ProductVersion). In addition, the files that were in Data1.cab will be expanded and patched and are in the Patched folder I specified above. At this point, we no longer need the Data1.cab file. If you know how, you could compress all the files back into a cab and insert them back into the media table, but that is overly complicated and I forget how to do it successfully. In any event, the major benefit would be some space savings. If you had a lot of apps like this, it would be beneficial; but for one, not so much so.
    Open AcroRead.msi with ACW. Make any changes you want for your installation. However, the following changes must be made or browser integration will be broken (per an earlier post in this thread):
    Go to the Registry item in the left-hand menu.
    Under the Destination Computer section, navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\acrobat\DefaultIcon.
    Modify the (Default) value to the following: [READER]AcroRd32.exe. NOTE: This only applies if you are installing Adobe Reader. If you are installing Acrobat, this may not apply, but I am not sure. YMMV.
    This step was updated 10 July 2009 11:30:00 EST (GMT-05:00). If your are performing application virtualization, you will want to make te following changes to the MSI (via ORCA or ACW). I'm making these changes from ACW. The installer will fail during application sequencing during the installation of the Adobe Updater Manager (AUM). For virtualized applications, this component is unnecessary and should not be installed. Other sites lead you through a lengthy, risky process to eliminate the installation of the AUM. This step will eliminate the installation of AUM with two simple changes to the MSI.
    In ACW, select the Direct Editor node from the left hand side.
    Select the Feature table.
    On the right side, locate the features named AUM and Updater. Note that the Level field for both features are 1. Change the Level field for both fields to be 200. Actually, any number greater than 100 will do, but 200 is a nice round number. Since the installer defaults to INSTALLLEVEL=100 (see the Property table), any feature with a Level value of 100 or less will be installed. Since we have now given these features an install level of 200, these features will not be installed. Generally, this tactic can be used on any component you wish not to have installed (for Adobe Reader and some other applcations with simple installers), such as AIR and Acrobat.com. Those are the only two changes that need to be made to not have AUM installed.
    To make sure your users don't encounter an error while running Adobe Reader, make sure, in ACW, to uncheck the box Disable all updates under the Online and Acrobat.com Features section.
    Save the package (in ACW, File->Save Package). This modifies the setup.ini file so that it will use the changes you just made (saved by default in AcroRead.mst).
    I left my original instructions below, but marked as deleted. Please see step 5 below these deleted instructions. This is a new step. If you are performing application virtualization, you want to make the following changes to the MSI (via ORCA or ACW). I'm making these changes via ACW. The installer will fail during application squencing due to not being able to create to two certain registry keys. This is the easiest way that I can think of to get this to work.
    Start your sequencing machine (in my case, a VM).
    Install Adobe Reader 9.1.x (do not sequence, simply install).
    Once installation completes, open the Registry Editor (assuming Windows Vista; if using WinXP or below, try RegEdt32.exe).
    Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Win32Assemblies\Global
    Double click the following entry (make sure you get the right one, there are two similar entries!): Microsoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762", processorArchitecture="x86".
    Copy the value of the entry (on Vista, the value is already highlighted,simply right-click and choose Copy. Otherwise, right-click and choose Select All and then right-click again and choose Copy.).
    Paste this value into Notepad. Save the file, making sure to select the Unicode encoding type from the Encoding drop-down list. Save it with the name Microsoft.VC80.CRT.txt
    Back in the registry editor, double-click the following entry: policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32-policy",versio n="8.0.50727.762",processorArchitecture="x86".
Save it with the name policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT.txt
    Close the registry editor.
    Reset your VM so it is clean for the sequencing (i.e. revert to a snapshot).
    Back in the ACW, at the Registry portion, navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
    Right-click HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and selet New->Key. Name the new key Installer.
    Right-click the Installer key and select New->Key again. Name the key Win32Assemblies.
    Create a new key in Win32Assemblies called Global.
    Select the Global key you just created.
    On the right-side of the editor, right-click and choose New->Multi-String Value. Name the new value: Microsoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762", processorArchitecture="x86".
    Right-click the new value and select Modify
    Open the text file Microsoft.VC80.CRT.txt you created aboe.
    Press CTRL+A or Edit->Select All (in Notepad) and then press CTRL+C (or Edit->Copy).
    Back in ACW, paste the value from the clipboard and click OK.
    Now right-click the editor and choose New->Multi-String Value again. Name it policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32-policy",versio n="8.0.50727.762",processorArchitecture="x86".
    Open the policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT.txt file created above.
    Copy the file contents as the value of the new entry in the ACW.
    Save the package. You should now be ready to install Adobe Reader via Setup.exe for sequencing.
    Updated 10 July 2009 12:00:00 EST (GMT-05:00). We have one more step to perform just to clean things up bit. I'm going to create another AIP using the patched MSI and our newly created MST. However, this does not work quite as one would expect.
    Run the following command: msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /t <Your_transform.mst>. I created this AIP in a folder called PatchedTransformed.
    The above step created another AIP in the PatchedTransformed folder. What's different about this AIP compared to the one made at the beginning of this procedure is that the MSI file was copied to the PatchedTransformed folder as well. However, the MSI is not merged with the changes from the MST as I expected. There are two things you can do:
    Modify the setup.ini file and add the following line to the [Product] section: CmdLine=TRANSFORMS="<Your_Transform.mst>", or
    Use ORCA. Open your patched MSI in ORCA. Choose Transform->Apply Transform... and select the transform generated by the ACW. Then choose File->Save Transformed As... and give the transformed MSI a new name, e.g. Custom-AdobeReader-9.1.2.msi.
    That's it. You now have a fully patched and modified Adobe Reader installer ready for installation or application virtualization.
    At this point, you should have an MSI and MST. If you want, you can use ORCA to merge the MST into the MSI. If you're using Setup.exe, you're going to have to change th Setup.ini file.
    To test that everything works, you can copy the files to a test directory and perform the following command: msiexec /a <AdobeReader.msi> [/t <Your_transform.mst>] Replace with the name of your MSI file and optionally, pass in your transform (definitely do this if you made a separate MST!). If all goes well, the installation should go well, too. During sequencing, you will still get an MSI installer error (actually, 2), number 1406, about not being able to write to two registry keys. These were the registry keys we added in the steps above. This does not happen on normal installatons.
    Please also note that I don't know whether the roaming user profile problem menioned in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404597.html is fixed in version 9.1.2. It was not fixed as of 9.1.0.163. This is all posted AS-IS. YMMV.
    UPDATE:
    In case you don't know, I will share a bit of enlightenment I had with my procedure above. This specifically relates to application virtualization and sequencing Adobe Reader for MS App-V.
    In step 4, I had you install Adobe Reader on a clean machine and obtain some registry information because otherwise, the installation may not be successful for virtualization. These steps are unneccessary. Here's why: you cannot "patch/upgrade" vitualized applications within the application itself. To patch/upgrade a virtual application, you have to use (in the case of MS App-V) the Application Virtualization Sequencing MMC to load the virtualized app, then run the upgrade/patch so that MS App-V can detect the changes and properly update the package. So what does this mean? Two things. First, whenever I use the ACW, under the Online and Acrobat.com Features section I always uncheck <b>Disable all updates</b>. However, checking this does not necessarily mean Adobe Reader does not install the Adobe Update Manager (AUM); in fact, it does install AUM, which is the feature that contains the component that attempts to write those registry entries and therefore, which is causing the error.
    Therefore, the solution (and what should be step 4) is to disable the installation of AUM. Now some have posted at various sites how to disable the installation of AUM by deleting a whole bunch of stuff in the MSI. This is not necessary. The steps are outlined in the new step 4 above. This should resolve sequencing issues.
    UPDATE 10 July 2009 12:00:00 EST (GMT-05:00) - Pertains to virtualizing Adobe Reader only.
    This doesn't work for virtualizing the application. When importing the application into MS App-V Server Management Console, the application version is still 9.1.0.163 even though the splash screen says 9.1.2. I think that my assessment is correct because of two reasons: 1) I still got the MS VC++ Runtime error when using a normal user with a roaming profile which Adobe said the latest 9.1.1 release fixed (and hence 9.1.2) (the AppData folder included) and for which Adobe's solution is a joke; 2) When I installed my "patched" Reader (as a normal install) with AUM and proceeded to go to Help->Check for Updates, the 9.1.2 update appeared in the list of updates (again, even though the splash screen said it was version 9.1.2). Adobe has got to get their patchng correct!!!
    For application virtualization, I'm going to recommend that you sequence the 9.1.0 version through to completion. Then, save the sequence and close it. Then re-open the sequence project for upgrade and applythe 9.1.2 patch. Whether you can use an ACW transform on the 9.1.0 installation and then patch, that's debatable. I sure hope so. If not, perhaps there's a way I can fudge it, namely, create an MST via ACW. Then, manually create an MST with the pertinent settings via ORCA and see if that works, instead.
    Having said all that, I seriously doubt this works at all even for GPSI deployment. Sorry all. Will post again when I finally get this application to sequence. Hopefully, the same principles will apply to GPSI deployment.

  • Mac mini server on two different location

    Hi,
    With my partner we are working on very havy image file from two different location. we wont to be able to share those file to each other easly and quickly mad make sur those file are allways up to date.
    - My first idea was to install in my place one mac mini server with external hard drive (RAID 0) and install the same server in my partner place. then I would like to create a VPN connexion between both Mac Mini server and setup a kind of RAID 1 between then. link that if my partner modify an image file on the server, With a short delay I will be able to see it on my side. this solution would be the best for me as all the data would be save in two different location and I would not have any backup issue.
    I did not buy the MAC mini server yet but as soon that I know the best soluiton and that it is possilbe to do so I will buy it.
    - My second idea (if the first one is not possible or if you guy's convins me that my idea is stupide) would be to have one MAC Mini server in one location setup with an external hard drive in RAID 01. my partner will need to connect to this server through VPN. This solution seems to be a good option but my partner will need to copy the file in local to work on it (few Gb eatch file) and copy it back on the server when he finish to work on it.
    With this solution I will also need to organise manual backup through another hard drive to avoid to have all our data in the same location.
    Witch one of those solution seems the best and can work with MAC mini server? If you have another idea for my situation I m more then happy to read it.
    Knowing that other user may need to access to my file, is the MAC Mini server VPN connection safe and fast?
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Chris.

    The fact that you are both working on multi-gigabyte
    files, the statement BDAqua made about network speed
    is a big issue.  Small incremental changes in a single
    multi-gigabyte file still require that entire file to be transferred.
    There in lies the big issue with network speeds.
    Basically, it seems idea 1 will probably not work well and
    besides, RAID is for local drives and not for over networks.
    One solution to the synchronization issue is have a single
    computer that has the application and the data and log into
    it and work remotely.  However, it sounds like these are image
    files and working and any kind of graphics over a remote
    connection is problematic unless there is a very high speed
    network connection.
    Second idea is the simple solution.  As for the backup, that
    can be automated with backup software and the backup could be
    put any where.

  • Can 2 people in different locations at the same time import, access, send, and receive the same messages from the same email account

    I import messages into Thunderbird. I send and receive emails. One of the things I like about Thunderbird is that I can insert (image, link, etc) right where I want to, and I can Attach. But not just a simple attach file. No, I can also click Attach and choose Webpage. A lot of web-based emails are plain, simple, no frills - Attach file and that's it.
    So I need to have my client be able to do the same thing I do when sending out emails, Namely sending out emails with an Electronic Press Kit (EPK) attached - which is to say, a webpage (not a pdf in our case). So, I need her to download, install, and use Thunderbird.
    Here's the problem and my question. She needs to access, send, and receive from my email account. That would be easy if it was simple attach files - she could just login on the web, go to squirrel mail and bang it out.. Here it is: She needs to be able to import the messages to be able to reply to some messages - she needs access to what I have access to. She needs to use Thunderbird so she can take advantage of the features like insert image with link or attaching a webpage. My question is how will this affect my use? Can 2 people simultaneously and from different locations access and use the same email account or is it a case where her importing the emails would cut me off..Is it an either or thing? Basically, can her and I both import the emails or can they only be imported to one location at a time. Because every time someone sends me an email i get it right there on my Thunderbird application..it's imported to my Thunderbird..I want her and I to be able to do that without affecting each other. I don't want her to start importing to her desktop and then I can no longer import. If she says "point those messages to my computer what will happen to my ability to access them on my computer in the same manner I am currently?

    I think there is a contradiction in your requirements. You want two people to share an account and you don't want either to interfere with the other.
    The short and simple answer is to use IMAP to connect to the mail server. If your current email provider doesn't offer IMAP, find another that does. This is old technology already and it's disgraceful that some email providers haven't yet put it in place.
    IMAP means that your messages are stored on the server and both of you will see exactly the same set of messages. And therein lies the contradiction; you will both see changes made by the other so you are inherently interfering with one another.
    Caveats: some providers may not permit you both to access the account concurrently, and even if they do, things may become interesting if you both choose to work on the same message simultaneously.
    Note that all of this is about email servers and protocols; your choice of Thunderbird as your email client has little bearing on the situation.

  • What is the best way to work on the same InDesign file in different locations?

    I'm the creative director for an in-house creative department. We produce 37 catalogs and a multitude of print and electronic advertising each year, plus a variety of other items. Our problem is that we have two locations. In the current set-up, if I want someone at one location to work on a project but the files are at the other location, I have someone at the one location package all the materials involved with that project and either upload them to DropBox or copy them to an external drive and ship it. Not very efficient.
    We have servers at both locations but there are different files at each location. I'm able to remote from my computer into a computer at the other location, but if everyone were to do that we would need double the number of CC subscriptions and computers, and it would bog down the internet connection that the entire company uses. I'm also connected to the server at the other location (again, over the internet) and have opened InDesign files that reside on the server there and tried to work on them here (over the internet) but that is much slower than remoting in.
    The only way I can think of to alleviate this problem is to run duplicate servers at each location, but this would be an update and back-up nightmare (unless I'm missing something). Is anyone operating this same way and, if so, how are you dealing with it?
    We can't be the only company that works like this. Maybe I'm just missing something.
    Thanks,
    Lloyd

    One tiny thing bothers me about your setup. And you said it above, you would need double the number of CC subscriptions and computers. Are you using two people to access under the same CC subscription. Even if they are working in two different time zones, it is technically violating the rules and spirit of the rules of being able to install on two machines at the same time.
    You're allowed to install for two machines for one person working at the office and then at home. One person wouldn't be in two different locations at the same time.
    Meanwhile, regards your problem, I remember reading about a system many years ago that was pretty simple. It was based on an old newspaper/magaizine system of "who has the folder." (Created before computers) In the old days, if someone was working on a file, they left a folder with their name in its place.
    In the computer age, one person, working on a file, would move it to their desktop. Then, they would leave an empty folder with that document's name where it had been as well as their initials. So if I took "Shoes and Socks Fall 2015.indd" out, I would leave a folder named "Shoes and Socks Fall 2015_smsc" in its place.
    And if it was necessary for me to have the images, I would make a copy of them onto my machine so I wouldn't tax the network. Then when I was finished, I would copy the file back to the server. The links should show up. If not, we could relink later.
    With the empty folder on the server, anyone could tell who is working on a project. So if they were late getting it back, you could email them.
    It relies on the people being disciplined enough to make the folders, move the docs, etc. But since you've ruled out all the systems for companies with dumb employees, you're going to have to make them follow the rules.

  • CAMERA RAW UNABLE TO SAVE TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION.

    I recently installed PS CS 5, and am having a problem with Camera Raw.
    I cannot save any type of image to a different location from Camera Raw.
    I CAN save to the same folder from which I opened the original file.
    Problem exists with any file formats, both original and saved.
    I chose Save in New Location from the Destination Menu, select a new folder, and after the new folder is selected the directory with the destination does not show in the Camera Raw dialogue box.
    When I attempt to save it anyway, I get the :
    "Camera Raw Save Status – The File Could Not Be Created" message.
    In Preferences – File Handling – Save As To original Folder is unchecked.
    Preferences have been trashed
    Can not save any file format
    Folders both created in Camera Raw and out of Camera Raw
    Folders on desktop or on internal or external  drive
    PS Version 12.1
    No third party of old filters, actions, etc installed.
    The folder properties are the same for all the folders.
    This problem occurs in both the 32 & 64 bit versions of CS5.
    CS4 is still installed, and it does not exhibit this problem.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    In ACR I select SAVE IMAGE
    The SAVE OPTIONS Dialogue Box opens.
    The default view is DESTINATION - SAVE IN SAME LOCATION
    To the right of the SELECT FOLDER button is the path to  the folder which contains the file that was opened in ACR.
    I change the destination to SAVE TO N EW LOCATION
    The SELECT DESTINATION FOLDER window opens which shows a wndows explorer view of my complete file directory on the left, with an empty pane on thr right.
    I select my new destination folder from the list on the left.
    The selected folders name shows in the botton dialogue box labled FOLDER
    I click the SELECT Button on the lower right corner, which brings me back to the previous windw which is the SAVE OPTIONS Dialogue Box.
    BUT the file path does not show to the right of the SELECT FOLDER button.
    That area is blank.
    It makes no difference if I single click or double click to select my new folder.
    ++++++++++++++++ Here's Some New Information ++++++++++++++++++
    When the SELECT DESTINATION FOLDER windows opens, and my new destination folder is selected, the right window is empty, even though that folder does contain image files, and the dialogue
    No Items Match Your Search is displayed at the top  of that pane.
    It's as if ACR opened a Search rather than allowing me to select a new folder.

  • OracleXE 10g cannot be installed in the same location as Client.

    hello!
    i would like to install XE DB (of course in silent mode) from a java application, but i always get this error in c:\WINDOWS\OracleDatabaseXEServerInstall.log file:
    "Oracle Database 10g Express Edition cannot be installed in the same location as Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Client."
    in java i call it like this:
    String cmd = "f:\\db\\OracleXEUniv.exe /s /f1\"f:\\db\\OracleXE-install.iss\" /f2\"c:\\OracleXE-install.log\"";
    int ret = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd ).waitFor();
    i do not even need db client, but as far as i know it cannot be unset in parameter file (OracleXE-instal.iss).
    otherwise if i start install it in silent mode in console then it is executed without failure...
    so i need to unset client installation or just to avoid this failure...
    any idea?
    anybody can help me out?
    pilán

    Any adjustments to the installer file? Maybe a previous run has already completed (or didn't complete) and items need cleanup before it can install sucessfully?
    XE doesn't support mulitiple installations on the same host nor more than one instance running in the install directory, perhaps changing the szDir=C:\oraclexe\ to a different drive and/or directory might help. But if an oracle installation is already on the box, maybe it would have to be the last oracle install ... :(

    We just installed few more drives into our sandbox system and I want to move the online redo log files for better performance.  We've got the SAPARCH directory moved to a different location.
    Does anyone know how/where I can change the parameters so redo log files are pointed at different drives?  It's not in the <b>init<SID>.ora</b> file...
    Regards,
    Sumit

    Hi Sumit,

    Hello.
    It appears Visual Studio uses a different version of the .NET framework:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/cesardelatorre/archive/2014/11/18/what-is-net-core-5-and-asp-net-5-within-net-2015-preview.aspx
    It might be related but I couldn't confirm the supported .NET versions for the Speech Control, or road map / plans for support in VS 2015. Have moved to this thread in case a subject matter expert might chime in.

  • Storing Podcasts in a different location

    I want to store podcast on an external HDD connected to an Airport Extreme but keep my music files on the macbook to play over airtunes at a different location. I like to keep all my podcasts and have too many for the MBP HDD. can someone explain how i can do this??

    You seem to be afraid of losing emails due to a potential computer failure - as computer is on it's last legs.
    You are not talking about a problem with storage, just concerned the computer could die on you with all your emails.
    You have a choice of actions:
    You could backup the entire profile and copy it to external storage.
    This will inlude all account names, preferences, emails, filters etc.
    I assume you are using a POP mail account.
    Make hidden files and folders visible:
    The AppData folder is folder is a hidden folder; to show hidden folders, open a Windows Explorer window and choose "Organize → Folder and Search Options → Folder Options → View (tab) → Show hidden files and folders".
    More info:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
    If you use Windows Vista or Win7 OS
    then locate this directory:
    * C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxxdefault
    The Profile folder name is 'xxxxxxx.default' where the x's will be letters and numbers.
    Copy the profile folder name and paste it in external storage.
    Another method:
    You could backup only the emails and the address books.
    Download this addon tool and save to desktop or downloads folder.
    ImportExporttools
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/
    How to Install:
    * Tools > Addons
    * Click on gear wheel icon and select : Install addon from file
    * REstart Thunderbird.
    Right click on folder in folder Pane and select:
    ImportExporttool > Export Folder
    REpeat for each folder you need to export.
    the folders are exported and saved in mbox format.
    Address Books:
    * click on 'Address Book' button to open Address book.
    * select an address book
    * Tools > Export
    * choose where to save
    * give a suitable filename
    * Save as type; choose either LDAP or comma separated .csv
    * click on Save.
    Repeat for each address book.

  • TACACs servers in different locations

             Is it possible to have a switch/ router configured for  a 2 x Tacacs servers in  different locations. They are not clustered, they are on the same network, but different domains and in different countries and use different login credentials

    You can configure multiple ACS in your switches and routers. It doesn't matter where these servers are located as long they are reachable by the AAA-client. If both servers work with different credentials I would configure them with different prompts so that the admin can see which server is asked.

  • How to setup Time Machine on 2 drives in 2 different locations

    I back up on 2 different drives in 2 different locations. Time Machine only remembers 1 drive so every time I go home I have to open TM pref and switch drives to backup to. Is there a way to get TM to remember the settings for both drives and make it a plug and play backup?

    the following method was proposed by biovizier on this forum and it seemed to work when I tried it. you can try it and see if it works.
    First, give both backup drives the same name. then enable showing hidden files in finder. you can do this using Tinkertool or using the following terminal command
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE; killall Finder
    then open the TM drive at home in finder. there will be a file at its top level with the name like .001d4f56a01d. Copy this file to the main disk, go to the other location and move this file to the other TM drive.
    You'll have to authenticate with your admin password to do this. then unplug and replug the TM drive and
    see if TM backups work without reselecting the drive.
    you also might have to change the ownership on that file - I'm not completely sure about that.

  • ColdFusion admin and W2K3

    Hi,
    I can't login to the ColdFusion admin after the installation
    is done.
    http://server1:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm.
    Thank you

    And so if the full path you are trying is
    http://127.0.0.1:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm.
    and you are still getting that message, and you have checked
    your services at determined that the ColdFusion Application Server
    8 service is running, and you have tried the almighty "reboot of
    the machine". Then my next piece of advice would be the
    uninstall/reinstall.
    A couple thing to consider when reinstalling:
    1. Did you tell it to use the Built-in web server? If not,
    try that and see if it works. You can always add another server
    later.
    2. Any other Version of ColdFusion installed on the machine?
    If so, does it work?
    ColdFusion is usually a very simple install.
